HOW TO COUNTER EVERY KILLER IN DBD

HOW TO COUNTER EVERY KILLER IN DBD

Brief Summary

This video provides a comprehensive guide on how to counter each killer in Dead by Daylight, focusing on strategies and tactics rather than specific perks. It covers a wide range of killers, from Trapper to the newest additions, offering tips on how to exploit their weaknesses and avoid their strengths. The guide emphasises awareness, adaptability, and understanding killer-specific mechanics to improve survivor gameplay.

  • Focus on killer-specific counter strategies.
  • Emphasises awareness and adaptability.
  • Provides bonus tips for some killers.

Trapper

To effectively counter the Trapper, follow him during the early game to disarm his traps, neutralising his power. Maintain a safe distance to avoid being caught off guard. If playing with a team, communicate trap locations. Solo players should memorise safe and unsafe loops to plan escape routes.

Wraith

The best way to play against the Wraith is to play as safely as possible. Wraith players often fake uncloaking to bait pallet drops, so avoid dropping the pallet immediately. Instead, alternate between dropping it and waiting for him to recloak to waste his time. Stunning him while he's uncloaking is effective due to his longer recovery time. Be mindful of perks like Bamboozle that eliminate windows.

Hillbilly

Against the Hillbilly, stick to loops that minimise the effectiveness of his chainsaw, such as those with rough fillers or jungle gyms. Avoid open areas like the car loop where he can easily curve his chainsaw. At windows, force an M1 attack to gain a speed boost. Evade his chainsaw rev mind games by leaving the loop or looping on the opposite side.

Nurse

The Nurse is difficult to counter if played perfectly, but newer players often struggle. Break line of sight by using trees, rocks, and tiles to disrupt her blinks. After breaking line of sight, either continue gaining distance or double back, hugging the object she last saw you behind. Many nurses will overblink, so predicting their movements can help you evade them.

Meyers

To counter Meyers, maintain awareness of your surroundings. He lacks abilities to quickly catch up or down you from a distance, relying on stealth and perks. Loop him effectively and break line of sight when possible. Against Tombstone Meyers or Scratch Mirror, stay healed or use lockers when he reaches Tier 3.

Hag

Countering the Hag involves tactics similar to those used against the Trapper. Designate a player to trigger her traps from a distance. Bait trap activations and create enough distance to avoid being hit. If the Hag is setting up a three-gen, make some progress, get hit, and reset on the other side of the map until a generator pops or the killer runs out of kicks.

Doctor

The Doctor's weakness is his lack of map pressure. Force him to continuously shock you to waste time, allowing your team to focus on generators. Pre-throw pallets or avoid throwing them altogether, as he can prevent pallet drops mid-chase. Maximise the use of resources around you to extend chases.

Huntress

To counter the Huntress, understand the hatchet hitbox in relation to survivor hitboxes. Use this knowledge to determine safe loops. Pre-throw safe pallets due to her slower speed. Greed unsafe pallets as a last resort, ensuring your reaction time is sharp.

Cannibal

Countering Bubba is straightforward: avoid greed. Don't greed pallets or early saves. Drop pallets at the first sign of danger during his chainsaw sweep. There's little you can do against a camping Bubba.

Nightmare

Countering Freddy involves staying awake, which negates most of his power. Wake up before healing, as he can teleport to healing survivors. Create distance from generators when he starts teleporting. Avoid waking yourself up with failed skill checks; instead, find a clock or teammate.

Pig

The Pig is easy to counter. Remove head traps early, as she has a limited number. When she ambushes, leave the loop rather than trying to predict her direction. Pay attention to her actions at loops and avoid assumptions. Be aware of your surroundings to counter her stealth.

Clown

Against the Clown, force stuns when possible, as his bottles significantly slow you down. After stunning him, leave the loop quickly. Exploit his lack of mobility by taking chases away from your team and keeping survivors spread out on generators.

Spirit

Countering the Spirit involves staying healthy and avoiding running if you don't have Iron Will. Walk away from an area if she's phasing nearby. Be aware that sprinting creates loud breathing noises for three seconds, even when healthy. Use the noise from dropping an item at a pallet to fake a slow vault.

Legion

Countering the Legion is as simple as not healing. Accept being injured and split up to minimise frenzy value. Wait to fully mend until the Legion is out of frenzy.

Plague

Countering the Plague involves not cleansing, which removes her power. Get comfortable playing injured. Cleanse endgame far from her if she's camping a hook to enable a save without giving her power.

Ghost Face

To counter Ghost Face, maintain awareness of your surroundings. Reset his stalking progress by forcing a hit after he's revealed. Don't rely on the reveal mechanic; break line of sight and gain distance.

Demogorgan

Counter the Demogorgon by destroying portals near important objectives. Avoid long sections where he can shred you before reaching a resource. Avoid 50/50 situations if possible.

Oni

Deny the Oni his first hit to delay his power. Once he has his power, take sharp corners and break line of sight. If worried about slugging, use lockers to force him out of his power. Denying the first hit indefinitely will only passively charge his power to 98%.

Death Slinger

Against the Death Slinger, use pallets with higher walls to limit his gun's effectiveness. Keep line of sight broken. Crouch before vaulting pallets or windows to make him shoot over your head.

Executioner

Similar to the Death Slinger, the Executioner is susceptible to crouch mind games. Move left or right to avoid his M2 attack. Use unpredictable movements at loops. If tormented, un-cage other survivors to remove your torment.

Blight

Countering the Blight involves using filler pallets around tiles like TLs or jungle gyms. Greed fillers as long as possible. Force him to use his power to hit you when healthy. Crouch to alter your hitbox and potentially make him miss his swing.

Twins

The Twins are easier to counter with a team. Use a buddy system to protect against Victor. If solo, stick with a teammate.

Trickster

The Trickster has little counterplay in chase. Break line of sight to delay the down. Exploit his lack of mobility by keeping survivors separated.

Nemesis

Counter the Nemesis similarly to the Huntress or Demogorgon, focusing on faking windows and pallets. Crouch to avoid his whip over pallet loops. Leave the loop if you anticipate him using his whip.

Cenobite

Countering the Cenobite involves playing unpredictably in chase. Dodge left or right when he uses his power. Manage the box yourself if solo.

Artist

Countering the Artist involves knowing the nearest locker and quickly entering and exiting it when she hits you with crows. Leave loops or stop running before entering the crow's path. Be aware that you can't vault or drop pallets while dispelling.

Onryo

Loop Onryo like any M1 killer, being aware of her passive phasing. Keep up on tapes, doing one when you reach three or four stacks. Turn off TVs near important resources and predict her teleports.

Dredge

Countering the Dredge involves keeping lockers locked and running to a new tower when he uses his remnant. Destroy his remnant by running into it before he teleports. Maintain awareness during Nightfall. When locking two lockers, only lock one initially.

Mastermind

Countering Wesker involves knowing which tiles favour his power. Use filler pallets to dodge his power. Position yourself unpredictably. Dodge his second dash and be mindful of his window hits. Spray yourself when infected.

Knight

Countering the Knight involves knowing which guards are active. Keep distance from the Carnifex. Run into windows without vaulting against the Assassin. Use the window trick against the Jailer. Avoid dropping pallets against guards. If chased by both the Knight and a guard, intentionally get hit by the guard for a better position.

Skull Merchant

Countering the Skull Merchant involves paying attention to your surroundings. Gain Undetectable from her drones by staying still or crouching. Hack her drones if necessary.

Singularity

Countering the Singularity involves chipping away at generator progress and resetting. Avoid hook states. Pressure EMPs. Pre-drop pallets and break line of sight. Use EMPs mid-chase. Windows are strong against him.

Xenomorph

Countering the Xenomorph involves setting up turrets strategically, slightly away from loops but within line of sight.

Unknown

Maintain line of sight to get rid of the last bit of infection. Leave when you're sure they can't see you. Dispel husks when the killer is busy. Avoid looping at tiles with clones.

Vecna

Get both special items from chests as soon as you can and hope and pray you get the interloper boots. Be aware of nearby resources and his distance when he uses Fly. Crouch to avoid the skulls from Light of the Damned.

Dark Lord

Pre-league whenever you see him teleporting to windows and downing pallets. Stealth if you're trying not to get found. Dodge his wolf form like you would dodge a Wesker dash. Dodge his human form like you would dodge Pyramid Head's M2 attack.

Haunt Master

Always try to dodge when near a window or pallet when she starts the dog attack. If you drop the pallet early, she can send the dog over it and grab you for free. If you wait for the dog to grab you, though, you can immediately stun it off you and you won't get injured.

Ghoul

Never willingly go into a dead zone against this killer. Stay patient when dropping pallets. Accept the fact there's absolutely nothing you can do to prevent the first hit regardless of how well you're positioned.

Animatronic Spring Trap

Treat him similar to Huntress in the way that you need to be careful when around windows and pallets with a strong line of sight for the killer. It can be incredibly strong to reveal him to a teammate when they're in chase. Also, never use the doors to travel as survivor unless you're sure the killer is busy in chase or doing something else.
