What Happens to Your Body After Stopping Ozempic

Dr. Eric Berg DC www.youtube.com

Kurze Zusammenfassung

Dr. Berg erklärt, was im Körper passiert, nachdem Patienten Ozempic absetzen.

0:00 What happens to the body after you stop Ozempic or other GLP-1s? [music] You lose weight. You're excited because one of the most difficult things people are running up against is trying to lose [music] weight. So, initially, the cravings are gone, but now they're more intense. Or a person [music] might experience side effects, for example, muscle loss, and they're wondering what to do about it. Today, I am going to cover a lot of the complications that can happen with Ozempic. Then I'm going to give you solutions [music] to correct those problems. Before I get into this, there's something very important you need to know. 25% to 40% of the weight people lose is not fat. It's muscle. And once they lose the weight and they

0:47 stop Ozempic and the weight returns muscle doesn't come back. Most of the weight that comes back is actual fat. What's really important to understand is your metabolic machine that helps you burn fat is your muscle. So, you want to do whatever you can to preserve the muscle. 70% of GLP-1s work directly on the brain. And it's actually going to override your hunger, okay? Appetite. You are no longer going to be hungry when you take this medication, at least initially. And 30% of this drug works by slowing the digestion, which means you're going to be fuller longer and you're not going to want to eat. And so, the mechanism of how these drugs help

1:32 you lose weight is you're going to end up eating less and losing weight. One thing that's really important to know is these medications do deplete certain nutrients, specifically, vitamin B1, magnesium, and zinc. And I think a really big problem in our society now is having a side effect from a medication and then taking another drug to treat that side effect instead of understanding the real reason why you have the side effect in the first place. Let's go through this right now. The first side effect that a lot of people get is something called gastroparesis. Your stomach and your small intestine are working very, very slowly. The big part of the nervous system that controls the digestive system is called the autonomic nervous system, okay? That system

2:19 needs B1 to work. Another reason why someone might be deficient in B1 is by consuming a lot of sugar or refined carbs and starches. So, the antidote to gastroparesis is taking sufficient amounts of B1 over a period of time. At least 40 mg twice a day would be very beneficial to help you with this. Number two, nausea is one of the side effects. A very good remedy for nausea is ginger, and you can take it in different forms. Ginger tea, ginger supplements. Number three, vomiting. If this medication is causing vomiting, you need to get your doctor to get you off the medication. You don't want to take another medication to suppress this major symptom. This is a dangerous symptom because people lose their electrolytes, and they could die from this. You need

3:05 to replace your electrolytes. Sea salt, potassium, magnesium. Next one is acid reflux. Acid reflux is not necessarily you having too much acid. It's a problem with the valve at the top of the stomach causing this reflux of acid. One of the best antidotes to acid reflux is betaine hydrochloride. What's going to happen, it's going to acidify the stomach and help you close the top valve. You'd want to take maybe two or three right before a meal. This next one is very, very serious. Vision loss. If you have vision loss, you need to get with your doctor immediately and get them to get you off the drug and give you advice. But, let's say for example, you want to also do some other things to potentially

3:52 help your vision recover, but what's really affecting the vision is a stroke that's affecting the optic nerve, okay? So, can be very dangerous as well. But, lutein and zeaxanthin have been known to just at least support the optic nerve. And also with that, I would eat more eggs with the yolk to get enough vitamin A. Okay, hair loss. That typically occurs because the person is deficient in zinc or they're not consuming enough quality protein. Your hair is protein, and when you eat less, hair loss can be one of the symptoms. So, the antidote to hair loss for this situation would be to take zinc with more animal protein. This next one, very common, gallstones or something that comes before the stone, which is gallbladder

4:38 sludge. The way that you would know that you have the sludge is you have this full tight feeling underneath your right rib cage that sometimes can refer discomfort into the right trap, shoulder through here, up into the neck, or in the back part. It's actually very common, and people don't connect the dots. But, the antidote to gallstones is using ox bile. Now, there is another remedy that I really like if you have the sludge or even if you have the stone. It's called Tudca. Very, very different. Tudca has a unique effect of cleaning out the ducts and thinning the bile so things can flow a lot better. And so, you'd want to take the ox bile right after you eat

5:25 and take the Tudca on an empty stomach. Again, I'm going to have all these details in the download. And I'm not saying consume a high-fat diet, but don't go low-fat. Have some fat in the diet. Why? Because you need the fat to cause the contraction of that gallbladder. Because one of the side effects from this is you lose that contraction. So, now everything just kind of sits in there, and then you might have bowel problems a little bit lower in the digestive tract. Okay, fatigue is another common symptom, primarily because the person's not consuming enough animal protein. Why? Because they're not hungry. Common reason for fatigue is they're not consuming enough sea salt. You need sodium to keep your energy and to keep your strength, but also magnesium in the form of magnesium

6:10 glycinate because the energy factory of your cells called the mitochondria are dependent on magnesium. What about diarrhea? This is another thing that's kind of dangerous because you're losing all your electrolytes. One way to stop diarrhea is to take a certain type of fiber called psyllium husk or pectin from green apples. There's other types of fiber you can use as well. It's also important to realize that you're losing microbes in your probiotics with diarrhea. So, taking kefir, maybe fermented foods, sauerkraut. And just as a side note, if you take too much bile salt, you're going to get diarrhea. So, in other words, you don't want to be taking ox bile or even Tudca if you have diarrhea. But if you have constipation,

6:57 which is the next one, that's what you would want to take is ox bile after you eat and Tudca on an empty stomach. Okay, pancreatitis. This is a very dangerous condition. You need to check with your doctor and have them run the program. But typically what happens with pancreatitis is you'll have this bile sludge that is backing up into the bile ducts, that's spilling over into the ducts that join to the pancreas, and you're going to have all sorts of discomfort on the left side. Could go in the left shoulder. It'll back right up into the pancreas, and the enzymes in the pancreas, I mean, they're digestive enzymes. That can start eating up your pancreas and creating inflammation. So, one really good remedy is to take Tudca cuz again,

7:43 that's going to clean those ducts, allow things to drain. But again, work with your doctor on this. I'm just giving you a good remedy that could assist in whatever treatment you're going to do. And one of the last symptoms is burping. The antidote is TUDCA on an empty stomach, maybe twice a day initially, and then down to once a day. Now, we need to focus on this muscle loss, because this is probably one of the biggest symptoms that people are complaining about. There's two main things to prevent muscle loss, and also to correct muscle loss. Number one, leucine. Leucine is the amino acid that tells the muscle to grow and get bigger. And a lot of people take leucine as a supplement. I don't recommend it. I recommend getting it from the animal protein, because the whole animal

8:28 protein will give you a lot of other things, nutrition, other amino acids. And to really support the muscle, we need at least 3 g of leucine, which comes out to about 30 g of animal protein per meal at the very minimum. So, what does that look like? That looks like between 6 or 7 oz of high-quality animal protein per meal. I'm talking about beef, I'm talking about chicken, I'm talking about fish. But number two is even more important. It's resistance training. You would want to do enough reps to create a fatigue to send enough signal to the muscle to say, "Listen, you need to grow and compensate to handle the stress that

9:14 I'm putting on it right now." So, that's really the key about resistance training. If you just consume the animal protein without the resistance training, it won't work. You need both of these. I mean, just think about what happens with people. They're not eating enough protein, okay? They have fatigue, so they're maybe not working out very much, and their muscles are just turning to mush and atrophy. So, this leads us to the real reason why someone would take a GLP-1 in the first place. Obviously, they're dealing with a difficult problem. They're trying to lose weight and they can't. And just as a side note, I'm going to plug a new book that I just wrote called Change Your Environments with an S. One of the key environments that I focus on in this book is your

9:59 food environment. Instead of constantly battling, having a better mindset, increasing discipline, I help you redesign your environments to make it a lot easier to stick to the program. Because if you don't, as soon as you're hungry, tired, or stressed, you're going to cave. I'll cave. I'm highly addicted to chips, okay? If they're in the house, I'm going to eat them. So, if you wanted an effective, but very different solution, you might want to check out this book. I will put a link down below. And then, the big question is, how long can you actually be on this drug? Some doctors are recommending it for the rest of your life. Well, it's going to be really hard to maintain that the rest of your life if you have all these complications. And the safety studies

10:45 have only been done for 3 and 1/2 years. We don't know what's going to happen long-term. In fact, right now, we are in the middle of the longest controlled clinical trial that has ever been done on weight loss. So, for a lot of people that are on this medication, they are the participants of this study. But lastly, I want to share something that's very important. I think the majority people are taking this because of this one thing right here. It gets rid of hunger. And if a person doesn't get hungry, it makes it easy to stick to something. There's another thing that you potentially might want to look at. It does not achieve the same amount of weight loss, okay? Because it doesn't completely shut down your hunger 100%, but it greatly reduces your cravings and hunger. And it's called the low-carb diet. And

11:30 if you combine that with intermittent fasting, you can not only create healthy weight loss, but without these side effects. For more details on how to do this in a healthy way, you need to watch this video right here. Check it out.
