Caroline Myss - The more you pray, the more you offset the shadow.

0:00 From the fear that holds me rigid, God of gentleness, ease me forward. In my fear of surrender, God of warmth, melt the ice round my heart. From my fear of making decisions, God of power, release me. In my fear of losing respect, God of courage, sustain me. In my fear of facing my fear, God of laughter, loosen me. But in the fear that marks your presence, God of love, keep me in awe and wonder.

0:50 Amen. I like that one. Now, that's a prayer. I love that prayer. Yummy. That's a yum. You know, I've met so many people and I see on their face that they've never been in awe. They've never had the experience of

1:37 being struck with awe by the sacred. They've just never had it. I see it in their eyes. They've never had a mystical experience. They've never had that world sweep them off their feet. They've no idea what that's like. They've no idea what it's like to have that world sweep them off their feet and become real. And uh I can see it in their eyes because there's a there's a numb there's a there's that uncertainty about what am I exactly doing on this planet? Am I here to gather? Am I a gatherer? Am

2:23 I a taker? Or am I a uh why am I so insecure here? I I'm not sure what I'm doing here. All I know is I'm very afraid. I'm very afraid. I'm very afraid. This really scared here. I can't find my way here. I can't find my way. What am I doing here? Every time I walk out the door, what am I doing here? I think I'll just run back into this little square. Am I safe? Am I safe? Am I safe? I can see it in their eyes. They've never felt safe. In the gift of life, never felt safe. And so they pop out the window. The only thing they feel safe in is this little square. So, they pop out their eye in the window and they pop their head out and think, am I safe here? Am I safe? I've got to cling to a human being. Now,

3:09 [clears throat] am I safe? You make all the choices for me cuz then maybe I'll be safe. What choices? I don't know. Let's go gather. Gather stuff. And that's the idea of safety. If we have enough stuff, we'll be safe. Safe from what? I don't know. Safe from something. Something Safe from what's ever out there. What's out there? I'm not sure. Shut the door. >> [laughter] >> Pull the curtains down. What whatever it is, there are monsters out there. Big monsters. Little monsters. Well, what are we doing on this planet? I'm not sure. We got to make something up. Tell me what we're doing here. I'm not sure, but let's go get more stuff because that's what everybody does. If we get more stuff, then maybe we'll know

3:55 for sure what we're doing here. Well, what kind of stuff should we get today? Electronics. We'll get more electronics and then we'll know for sure what we're doing here. Well, let's go to Best Buy. Load the car. What are you doing? Trying to figure out what we're doing on the planet. >> [laughter] >> You got anything on sale? Well, maybe if we drive a different car, what kind do you want? Maybe if we get something with a really big huge name brand. Let's go get a Beamer. >> [laughter] >> And then we'll know what we're doing here. I got the Beamer. Is that helping? Do you know what you're doing here now? No. Does it have a map? No. Well hell. >> [laughter]

4:41 >> Teresa always said, God gets into the walls of yourself for even a second, you never need anything else. I don't know. Maybe it's me. Okay. And we're going to go to the fourth, but I didn't even write the third down. Okay. But you got the third yesterday. We talked about it and I don't we don't want to >> [gasps] >> entitlement. You know, John of the Cross called it luxury. I love that. And that's how you're going to think of it. You don't have the luxury anymore. I love the word he used in the 1500s, luxuries. The shadows. You don't have the luxury anymore to tell yourself

5:28 or to believe that you're safe in this world because of where you were born or because of who you are or because you're 5'6" or because you're 4'1". There isn't anything in the world that makes you different from anybody else. You don't have the luxury to lie to yourself anymore. The lies of race, creed, location, geography, everything. Those lies are over. It's over time. You don't have the luxury to tell yourself that climate change isn't affecting you. Right now, the sequoias are about to burn in Yosemite National Park. We're about to lose them, the greatest,

6:13 oldest trees on the planet. We don't have the luxury to lie to ourselves anymore that this isn't happening in front of our eyes. The symbolic death of these trees has so much power. If people understood what the symbolic death, the archetypal death of the elders of the tree community. The elders are now dying. The elders amongst the tree

7:00 community are now meeting their fate. That is bigger than any ordinary mortal. I just said yesterday that I'm I'm amazed that I'm going to tell this twice. The only person who ever wrote any observation at all of the Druids was Julius Caesar. Nobody else. Everybody else made it up. But Julius Caesar actually was fascinated with Druids. Because he actually encountered them in Gaul. So, he actually wrote about them. He was fascinated with them. Caesar's Gallic Wars. And he

7:45 noted that they were people of the trees. That they drew their power from the trees and that when the Druids went to war, they could summon the power of the trees and send it ahead of them to do battle to line the um battlefield. To energize the battlefield for them. They would send the spirit of the forest, the spirit of the trees. He noted that the most powerful tree for them was the oak tree. That they made their wands out of apple trees.

8:32 He noted that for them, the tree was somehow spoke to them. Its power and authority had something to do with their entire science that they passed on to the students of their mysteries. Some of these trees probably go back to the days of Druids. They believed that when you walked into a forest, the forest knew you were there and the trees were on alert. They could feel the field

9:18 of life. We've become so enamored with ourselves that we've ceased to become enamored with everything else that's on the planet. Because we think we're the only things on the planet that matter and everything else is in service to us. We have a right to destroy anything that's in our way. Any habitat that's in our way. Take it down. Shave it. Cut it. Because it's in my way. It's in my way. You're in my way. So, I get to I bought this. I can shave it down. Cut it. You're in my way. That is the philosophy of the human being. You're in my way and I own this.

10:07 So, you have no rights. Here's my paper. See this paper? It gives me so all of you all of us live in the master slave archetype. Make no mistake. If you are an owner, you're a master. If you're a master, you have a slave. So, make no mistake about that. Even if the slaves you keep are those that belong to nature. I will command you under my feet. So, now we will watch the greatest elders of our planet burn today.

10:57 Unless there is some divine intervention and it will require the hand of God to save those trees. This is the result of climate change. Wild, isn't it? Yes, it is. They've protected them. Do you want Do you really think that wildfires are not navigated by the wind spirits and the sprites? Do you actually

11:42 It never occurred Yes. It's completely navigated by by gatekeepers that are angels of the earth and they're called gatekeepers and by the wind sprites. It's completely never There's no such thing as a random fire. It is completely navigated and you and you will say, "Are you kidding me? These wild ass fires that killed all these firemen and all these things that happened last year?" You have got to understand that nature has no interest in seeing us as different than any other species. Nature's interest is in nature and we are no different than the species of animal or insect. We are simply

12:27 another species. We are impressed with ourselves. But as far as the system of nature's ecology go, we are simply a nuisance destructive species that craps in its own nest. We are in fact the lowest for that reason. Not the most evolved, but we sit thinking we are the most evolved and glamour ourselves because we think we're most evolved and we can't get over when we die in a natural disaster. We call ourselves innocent. All those innocent people. As if we should have emptied the prisons ahead of time finding out there was going to be tsunami. Just get the guilty people there.

13:13 We think like fools. No, it's all navigated. No. No. No, no, no. You can't even think in that world. Get out of that world. That is the lower level. This is simply nature trying to write it balance. It's like a balance, but it's also It's just balance, but it's also moving in the direction of an evolution. This is how you got to get up You got to get up on the higher level. You cannot even You have to be so detached to see this. You have to be so impersonal. So impersonal as painful as it is. As painful as heartbreaking, wrenching as it is.

13:59 You have to stand impersonal on your own planet in order to see an archetypal pattern as it incarnates like a tornado that says yet another symbolic symbolic The eldest of the trees is coming down. Nothing is as symbolic as that. The tree of life. The tree Everything. The tree The fruit of the tree in the garden. Everything. Everything is the tree. And it is the end of a civilization. It's the end. It's a marking of an end. The eldest of the eldest.

14:47 Yeah. Yeah. The eldest. The eldest of a tree. It is It is symbolic that a new form of life is going to come. New seeds. You know. This is really an extraordinary time to be alive. Are you following here? Nothing could be as important as you guys getting who you are. Okay, next we're going to get on with this cuz we don't have all year and I've It's too bad we don't. >> [laughter] >> Okay. And this is what you understand about

15:32 the way nature works because nature is your physical expression of the nature of God. It's the nature of God. The nature of God is law is always balance. And you have to know this in your own life. So, when you're brought to a point of great anguish, you have to see it as you are moving through a transition that is transitioning to a release place of of a freedom that couldn't come out in the way you were in in It's like a birth. This is death and birth and that's the archetypal cycle. It's always the death birth cycle that feels that way.

16:19 You are dying to something so that something can be born. You're dying to something and and if you can remember that if you can remember what I'm teaching you. And we're going to go to this That's a kind of what happens here when you go to the next level when you go to the fourth grace in a sense. You're dying to something greater than yourself and it's very difficult to do that because you we always think that we're giving up our personality. We're going to give up our world. We're going to give up ourselves and and what kind of power will we have in the world which is why you have to go through this idea of entitlements. You have to look at feeling like, "But

17:05 I'm entitled to all of this." You see what I mean? And as you discover that the the the next grace and get up to the next realm. You get up to this idea that you are moving into I wanted to make sure that I have this thing ready to read. Um This is the grace of fortitude. God, why am I doing it that way? I have grace ADD. What have I done here? Okay.

17:58 This is the law of sensation. This is the law of sensation. Fortitude. Okay. This is a mess. >> [laughter] >> I need my glasses. All right, just just don't talk to me. >> [laughter] >> Really, don't talk to me because you talk to me and we get in trouble. I need to put this down. I had I have always such a wonderful

18:46 script and I and I can't find it and somewhere it's gone and that's the whole thing. And it has the laws. It has all the way I like to teach it. No, darling. It's in my desk. Okay. So, what I do is I have some of my notes written in the margins. So, you're just going to be quiet for a minute and I'm going to find my notes in my book and you could talk about anything you want.

19:31 But, I want to put down sensation. Um >> Yeah.

20:21 Okay. Right. Okay. I I apologize for this being like the serious mess. All right, I got it all and I wanted to add the mansions. But I I I'll see if I can do that. This is important. All right, let's go. We're on fast forward. The thing I want to add about Teresa right here

21:08 is that if I were teaching this in full force, we would be in the fourth mansion here and that's this is the thing I want to add about the the fourth. You're in the the field of the heart. This grace is fortitude, which is courage, which is God give me courage as I just read in that beautiful prayer. But I also want to add something about the fourth mansion here just as a kind of sparkle highlight. Because the the the law is the law of sensation and I want to put this whole thing in a a larger portrait for you. Teresa was saying that when she was going from the third to the fourth mansion, her experience of this was that God calls you to the fourth

21:55 mansion. Now uh in in mystical teachings in Catholic mystical teachings there is a expression of Jesus called the sacred heart. Maybe some of you have heard of that. I want to reverse the wording and call it the heart of the sacred. So that you have a more cosmic impersonal understanding of what that means. The heart of the sacred. What is sacred about all life? So that you distance yourself from Christianity.

22:42 But rather I introduce it to you as a mystical principle. A mystical principle that is universal. That at some point in human evolution of the soul you get to a place where you are mature enough of soul of soul to be to engage with the soul that is breathing in all life. So instead of seeing the just tree with your eyes, the matter rather the law of sensation what opens up in you is a heart

23:32 that is not your heart but the collective heart. You You're tied into it and you feel the heart in the tree and you begin to pulsate with that. And the heart with this is what Francis of Assisi had. Why the birds didn't fear him and the animals didn't fear him and this they were pulsating with one heart. They didn't see him anymore as a human being but one with the same. He was breathing in the heart of the sacred. All animals he he no longer had a human ego. Maybe that's how to say this. He had a living ego a sacred ego. All life was one in the same to him. He no longer had

24:19 the hierarchy. I am a human being and I can smash you because I own you because I am a human being and what's more I'm a white human being and I'm a male and didn't think in this hideous way. He was he had a sacred heart a heart of the sacred. So he saw all through piety that I see only the God in everything. Everything. It's not It's not just a tree. It is a creation of divinity. So the tree reveals to itself to you its sacredness. The rose says, "I'm not just a rose. You want to see what I can do if you if I release my oil?" You want to see what my oil can do?

25:04 Watch this. And the the vibration of a higher the law of vibration come up here number five. The law of vibration kicks in boom. Say these prayers and this light comes through the rose. And it comes into the oil. And the oil shifts from being a perfume to a conduit of such profound healing substance. But if you're an ordinary mortal without the sacred you could wear it as perfume. But only if you can access that light

25:49 will the rose say, "I won't wake up I cannot release this. I can't release my soul to me unless you are in that that light with me. Otherwise you can have my body which is a beautiful rose but I can't release my soul until you release your soul. It's one in the same. Soul to soul. The heart of the sacred. You get to your sacred heart, I'll give you my sacred heart. Are you following this? Now that's the grace of fortitude. It takes a a different type of grace to

26:35 say you know, give me the fortitude here to deal with peop- life from a sacred place because I'm going to walk alone if when I start this one. Muktananda said, "Don't even try this but if you put your foot on this path, don't get off. Don't get off because it's the only one worth walking but I would recommend you don't even start cuz it's so hard. But if you do, you'll never want to get off cuz it's so beautiful. But don't expect a lot of company. And don't expect a lot of people to to get it. It's going to be really really rigorous. Rigorous. But the way that world talks to you

27:20 and you talk to it when you are on this path is that the world says "We feel someone new." Someone new. And it's it's you you start breathing with the world. It's a it's a different it's a different connection. The law of sensation you start sensing something. You start sensing here. You start sensing the the world the life community beyond yourself. You are now not your only focus. You care for yourself. Of course this isn't about well so much for me. No, no,

28:06 no, stop it. Of course you care for yourself. Of course you do. But you begin to realize my role is to care for me. So I and it's not going to burn me out to care for others. What a prop- Who ever taught you such a thing? Only egomaniacs believe that. You got to learn how to care for the whole. It's an art form. Should never burn you out. It's an art form. Okay? It's big huge art form. Grace compensates. You got to recognize you have your own needs.

28:55 Et cetera et cetera. But the law of sensation connects you and you learn how to read I'm I I sense what's going on in the collective. I can sense it. I can sense it and your response is I I need to I need to channel grace. I can feel it. I can feel the pain in the earth or I can feel something beautiful is coming in. I can feel it. I can feel and either way you either help the birth you help the release but you plug in and this is when I tell people you should have a collective prayer group. I don't care where it is. But you have a collective prayer group. That's why I've tried to start it again

29:41 and again with the C made salon. But to know that you You what? You should link in even once a day for 5 minutes. Where you see yourself on the grid wherever you are, you know, it's lighting up. And you're trans you are you are with the law of sensation, you really are the the are pulsating grace pouring it in, knowing that this other law, the law of energy converts to matter. It's a law. It's a law. Every thought, every every energetic molecule we are setting in motion. And remember what Buddha says, change is constant, energy is constant. We are always in motion. That's another law. We're always in motion, which means

30:28 all energy is always going to create something. The more prayer and grace you contribute to this massive creation thing, the more we outweigh, it's the law. We put more grace against the shadow of collective. That's how prayer works. It's as simple as that. You just outrun the shadow. That's it. That's it's Believe it or not, that's I you know, I used to wonder like why? When I was a kid and uh you know, baby Catholic in my day. Not anymore. But in my day, we're brought up on a lot of stories about, you know, apparitions and what and frying saints and

31:14 you know, how much they suffered and like, don't you want to be one of them? No, no, you know. You know, ooh, wow, I'm out of here. But but they were filled with all kinds of miracles and awe. I mean, we really grew up on stories of gargoyles and awe and apparitions and this and that. I mean, it was wonderful. It really was. Like every day it was another woo, you know? So that it was never it was just like normal, you know? Normal woo and awe, you know? But what really what really really fascinated me was the Madonna stories and the apparitions of the Madonna. Like Fatima and Lourdes and Guadalupe and uh uh you know, all the the the Madonna. So

32:02 and I think that probably is why I eventually led down to the study of mysticism and miracles and what was what's real about the mystics. And and you know, the fact is people have experienced these. And and how's that happen and you know, that kind of thing. So anyway, what has been consistent what really fascinated me was the apparition of Fatima in which the Madonna said, you know what? There's going to be another war. It's going to happen in the 40s. And uh she appeared in 1917 to three kids. And I could tell you all about this one cuz I've really really really jumped into it especially in this last year all

32:48 over again for a certain reason. But the Madonna's also been appearing for the last 20 years in Medjugorje, Yugoslavia. Uh so all her message has been consistently pray the rosary, pray for peace, pray pray pray. And when I was a kid, I used to think, well, if you knew that war was coming, why didn't you just like go to Germany kick ass? Why didn't you just go there, show up and say, hey yo, Hitler. You know, I mean like show up with your son. I mean, send Michael the Archangel. Send a little call the boys, you know?

33:33 [laughter] You got some clout, you know? Run them over. You're what? What? I just don't get it and I cannot tell you how much that disturbed me. I you have no idea. You have no idea. Kept me up nights. It just it drove me crazy. It drove me crazy. It drove me crazy. To the point where I I just could not I it was unsettling to the core of my being. It was not something I could dismiss. I couldn't leave it alone. All through my studies. All through my adulthood. I tell you, it just it was one of those things that got into the walls of my soul and that was it.

34:21 One of those great divine mysteries that would become a grind in my pepper mill. I don't get it. And then I got it. And that's that it's the law. The law. It's the balance of grace and psychic free radicals. It's the law. Energy to matter. Grace to matter. The more you pray, the more you offset the shadow ingredients of what is going to be created. It's like being in a great big huge

35:07 restaurant kitchen. And we simply make the ingredients and it's inevitable that the cooks will come in and bake something. It's a conveyor belt. And whatever ingredients we put there become the inevitable things they bake. And it's a law it's a law. It's as simple as that. And if we are giving them trash, they will bake and create trash. And it reflects us. It reflects the carelessness with which we show up with our ingredients. If we are mindless and soulless because we don't have the time to prepare conscious ingredients, that's exactly what will be served on the earth.

35:53 Mindless and careless events. Mindless and careless and cruel events. Just simple as that. If on the other hand, all of the consciousness if people paid attention even to small small amounts of spiritual ecology, soul ecology, what does the soul need? What do you need? It's not about religion. I I don't teach it that's in soul ecology. People need to know their conscience. Never mind consciousness, conscience. You don't do bad things. That's stupid. It's stupid. You don't punish another person for your own choices. Stop it.

36:40 Just stop it. Get over your childhood. That's enough. Everyone's had a bum time. Control yourself. I'm not even interested and I'm not going there. You want to go there, go by yourself. I'm not listening. La la la la. Okay? I'm not going. >> [laughter] >> Okay? I don't go to history anymore. Okay? You can talk to me about your present. I'm not going there. Okay. There are ways the soul needs to be. Learn the power of your battery. How's your battery work? How's your battery work? It's your battery.

37:26 Run your own battery. Your battery thrives on fortitude. And if you sit quietly in your battery, you realize what turns you on most is when you're the bravest. Bravest. Bravery, your own bravery turns you on. Your own act of courage, you think, I never thought I could do that. Whether it's a physical act of bravery or a personal act of bravery, you get high off your own bravery. That's your fourth grace. That's what fortitude feels like. Even if that bravery is I never thought I could do anything that kind.

38:13 It was like brave kind and you mix the ingredients of bravery and kindness together. And that is an alchemy that is like higher that's like spiritual cocaine. Like who knew I could ever do that? It took so much bravery for me to go up and say, you know what we're going to do for those people? We're going to do that. And if you don't do it with me, I'm going to do it alone, but I'm doing that. I'm doing it. And the thing is a brave, courageous person using that grace, everybody else is blinded by your power and first they are always shamed. Which is why they'll come at you. And that's what shame feels like. Learn

39:00 to read human beings. Learn to read them. The first wave will always be shame. And then they'll put their tail between their legs. If they're any kind of human being.
