SOLOMON'S FIRST HOUR: Why The Richest King Woke Up Early (Proverbs 20:13)

  • S'inspirer d'exemples historiques (Wesley, Taylor, LeTourneau).

0:00 Welcome back to the Solomon Wealth Code. Imagine for a moment that you had a meeting scheduled with the most powerful person on Earth. Imagine you had an appointment with a billionaire who wanted to hand you the blueprint for an empire. Would you hit the snooze button? Would you roll over and say, "Just 5 more minutes?" Of course not. You would be awake before the alarm went off. You would be prepared. You would be waiting at the door. Yet, every single morning, the creator of the universe waits for you. And many of us miss the appointment. We trade the wisdom of the ages for a few more moments of unconsciousness. King Solomon, the wealthiest man who ever walked the earth, understood that wealth is not just about gold bars or real estate. Wealth begins in the mind and the mind

0:45 is set in the morning. In Proverbs 20:13, he gives us a command that sounds simple but carries the weight of a kingdom. He says, "Do not love sleep or you will grow poor. Stay awake and you will have food to spare. Today we are going deep into Solomon's first hour. We are going to uncover why the richest king woke up early and how you can apply this ancient biohack to your modern life to unlock spiritual and financial abundance. Before we enter the palace of wisdom, I want to ask you a favor. I want to see where our prayer army is gathered today. Down in the comments, please write the name of your city and your country. It is a beautiful thing to look through the scroll of comments and see the nations united in the pursuit of wisdom. So go ahead, declare your ground

1:31 and let us begin. The world we live in today is a factory of noise. From the moment you open your eyes, the world is screaming at you. Notifications on your phone, the demands of your email, the traffic outside your window, the news cycle that never sleeps. Your brain is bombarded with information before you have even had a sip of water. This is the modern dilemma. We are connected to everything yet we are connected to nothing. We have information but we lack wisdom. Science tells us something fascinating about the human brain. Neuroscientists have discovered that the brain moves through different wave states. When you first wake up, you are transitioning out of the delta waves of deep sleep and into theta and alpha waves. This is a state of high

2:17 creativity, high suggestability and deep learning. It is a state where the subconscious mind is open. If the first thing you do is look at your phone, you are flooding this fertile soil with anxiety, stress, and the agendas of other people. You are planting weeds in a garden that was meant for roses. But if you embrace the silence of the early morning, you are protecting that soil. You are keeping the ground holy. This is why the biology of waking up is so critical. The brain needs silence to calibrate. It needs a moment of stillness to set the compass for the day. If you start the day in chaos, you will end the day in chaos. But if you start the day in the peace of God, you carry that peace with you like a shield. King Solomon warns us against the danger

3:03 of the pillow. It is not that sleep is evil. God created sleep. Psalm 127:2 says, "In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat, for he grants sleep to those he loves. Sleep is a gift. Restoration is holy, but the love of sleep is a trap." Solomon says, "Do not love sleep." Notice the distinction. You can enjoy sleep. You can need sleep, but you must not love it more than you love your purpose. You must not love it more than you love your destiny. The pillow is a seductive enemy. It whispers to you that everything is fine. It whispers that you have plenty of time. It whispers that comfort is the goal of life, but comfort is not the goal. Impact is the goal.

3:49 Stewardship is the goal. Consider the example of Jesus himself. In the book of Mark 1:35, we read, "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place where he prayed." Why did Jesus do this? He was the son of God. He had all power. Why did he need to get up while it was still dark? Because he knew that once the sun came up, the demands of the world would begin. The crowds would gather. The disciples would have questions. The sick would need healing. The Pharisees would come to attack. The day was a battle. And you do not put on your armor in the middle of the fight. You put on your armor before the fight begins. Jesus needed that solitary

4:36 place. He needed the silence to commune with the father. If the savior of the world needed that morning silence to align his spirit, how much more do we need it? We are often defeated in our finances, in our relationships, and in our emotional health because we wake up late and rush into the battle unarmed. We are reacting instead of creating. We are on the defense instead of the offense. The pillow has become our master. The warning against the pillow is a warning against pacivity. When you lie in bed after your alarm has gone off, you are making a passive agreement with mediocrity. You are saying that your dreams are not worth the effort of lifting your head. You are saying that your calling is not urgent. This is a spiritual issue. The battle for the

5:21 morning is a battle for your dominion. In the book of Genesis, God gave humanity dominion over the earth. But you cannot have dominion over the earth if you cannot even have dominion over your mattress. The Hebrew culture understood the power of the dawn. The morning was seen as a time of new mercies. Lamentations 3:es 22 and 23 tells us, "Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed. For his compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness." Every morning, God hits the reset button on the universe. He offers a fresh supply of mercy, grace, and wisdom. But you have to be awake to receive it. You have to be present to collect the mana. Remember the Israelites in the desert? The mana fell

6:06 in the morning. If they waited until the sun was hot, it melted away. They had to gather their daily bread early. The same is true for your spiritual and intellectual bread. There is a wisdom that is available at 5:00 in the morning that is not available at 9:00 in the morning. By 9:00, the mana has melted. The noise has returned. The world has invaded. Solomon calls us to break the addiction to comfort. He calls us to realize that the pain of discipline is far less than the pain of regret. Waking up early is physically uncomfortable for the first 5 minutes. But waking up 5 years later and realizing you wasted your potential is a pain that lasts a lifetime. The biology of your body is designed to rise with the light. But the biology of your spirit is designed to

6:52 rise with the light of the world. When you conquer the pillow, you conquer the first enemy of the day. You prove to yourself that you are in charge. You prove to your flesh that it does not dictate your actions. This is the foundation of the Solomon wealth code. You cannot build a tower of wealth on a foundation of laziness. You cannot build a legacy of impact on a foundation of slumber. The first victory of the day happens when your feet hit the floor. Now we must turn the pages of the proverbs to chapter 6 where Solomon paints a vivid and somewhat terrifying picture of the alternative. He introduces us to a character known as the slugard. The slugard is not just a person who is lazy. The slugard is a person who is deceived by the concept of time. In Proverbs 6:es 9-11, Solomon

7:40 writes, "How long will you lie there, you slugard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come on you like a thief, and scarcity like an armed man. Let us look closely at the language here. Solomon repeats the word little three times, a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands. The slugger does not intend to ruin his life. He does not wake up and say, "I plan to be a failure today." He simply asks for a little bit more comfort. Just a little. This is the principle of the slippery slope. Ruin rarely comes all at once. It comes in small increments. It comes in the form of just five more

8:25 minutes. It comes in the form of I will do it tomorrow. The sluggard is always negotiating with discipline. He thinks he can bargain with time. But time is a ruthless creditor. Solomon asks, "How long will you lie there?" It is a question that echoes through the corridors of history. It is God asking Adam, "Where are you?" It is the call to wake up from spiritual coma. The consequence of this little compromise is drastic. Solomon says, "Poverty will come like a thief." Think about how a thief operates. A thief does not announce his arrival. A thief comes when you are unaware. A thief comes when you are defenseless. Poverty here is not just financial bankruptcy, although that is certainly part of it. It is poverty

9:10 of spirit, poverty of relationships, poverty of health, poverty of influence. When you habitually choose the little sleep over your purpose, you are leaving the back door of your life unlocked. You are inviting the thief to come in and steal your potential. Then Solomon changes the metaphor. He says, "Scarcity will come like an armed man." This is different from a thief. A thief is sneaky. An armed man is violent. An armed man overpowers you. An armed man takes what he wants by force. This means that eventually the consequences of laziness become undeniable and overwhelming. There comes a point where you can no longer ignore the mess you have made. The bills pile up. The health fails. The marriage crumbles. The

9:56 opportunity is lost. The armed man is at the door. and you are too weak to fight back because you have spent your strength in slumber. This passage is juxtaposed with the image of the ant in verse 6. Go to the ant, you sluggarded. Consider its ways and be wise. The ant has no commander, no overseer or ruler. Yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. The ant does not need an alarm clock. The ant does not need a boss standing over it screaming, "Get to work." The ant possesses internal drive. The ant understands the seasons. The ant knows that summer does not last forever. There is a time to gather and if you sleep during the harvest, you will beg during the winter. This is the principle of seasonality. The morning is the harvest

10:42 time of the day. The morning is when your energy is fresh. The morning is when your willpower is full. If you sleep through the harvest of the morning, you are trying to gather food in the winter of the afternoon when you are tired and the sun is going down. Charles Haden Spurgeon the prince of preachers spoke often about the virtue of diligence. He said a lazy man is a stagnant pool and in the stagnant pool all manner of diseases breed. When we are idle we are not just doing nothing. We are breeding corruption. The bed of the slugard is a breeding ground for excuses. Lying there you can invent a thousand reasons why you cannot succeed. You can blame the economy. You can blame your upbringing. You can blame the government, but as long as you are horizontal, you are helpless. When you

11:29 stand up, you take responsibility. Solomon wants us to understand that poverty is often a result of a lack of movement. Physics tells us that a body at rest stays at rest, and a body in motion stays in motion. The hardest part is the initial activation energy required to get out of bed. The slugard never overcomes that initial friction. He is trapped by gravity. But the wise man, the one seeking the Solomon wealth code, understands that he must launch himself out of that state of rest. He must break the gravitational pull of the mattress. The phrase folding of the hands to rest is a posture of surrender. It is the posture of a corpse. When we die, they fold our hands over our chest. When you fold your hands to rest when you should be working, you are

12:15 practicing for your own funeral. You are dead while you are still alive. We must refuse this posture. We must refuse the little compromises. We must realize that every time we hit snooze, we are casting a vote for the person we do not want to become. And every time we rise with the sun or before the sun, we are casting a vote for the hero that lives inside of us. The armed man of scarcity is marching toward your house right now. The thief of poverty is looking for an open window. The only way to stop them is to be awake, to be alert, and to be standing at the gate of your day, ready to defend your territory and cultivate your garden. Do not let the little sleep rob you of a great destiny. We have seen the warning. Now, let us look at the

13:02 promise and the practical application. We return to our key verse. Proverbs 20:13. Do not love sleep or you will grow poor. Stay awake and you will have food to spare. Some translations say, "Open your eyes and you will be satisfied with bread." This brings us to the principle of the first fruits. In the Old Testament, God established a law regarding the harvest. The very first portion of the crop, the first fruits belong to God. You did not gather the whole harvest and then give God the leftovers. You gave him the first and the best. Exodus 23 19 says, "Bring the best of the first fruits of your soil to the house of the Lord your God." Why did God ask for the first because the first

13:48 establishes the root? Romans 11:16 tells us, "If the part of the dough offered as first fruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy. If the root is holy, so are the branches." This is a spiritual law that applies to your money, but it also applies to your time. Your day is a harvest. You have 24 hours given to you by God. The first hour is the first fruit of your day. If you consume that first hour for yourself, sleeping in, scrolling social media, rushing around in panic, then the root of your day is chaotic and selfish. And if the root is selfish, the branches the rest of the day will be selfish. But if you take that first hour and offer it to God, you make the root holy. And when the root is

14:34 holy, the whole day becomes sanctified. By giving God the first 60 minutes, you are redeeming the other 23 hours. You will find that you get more done in less time. You will find that you have a supernatural favor in your meetings. You will find that problems that usually frustrate you dissolve quickly. How do we calculate this? If you are awake for 16 hours a day, the first hour is your tithe of time. It is the portion that sets the tone. Solomon says, "Open your eyes." This is more than just lifting your eyelids. It means to become spiritually alert. It means to gain perspective. When you wake up early to read the scripture, to pray, to plan your day in the presence of God, you are opening your spiritual eyes. You are

15:19 seeing the world as God sees it. Most people go through life with their spiritual eyes closed. They are sleepwalking. They react to circumstances blindly. But the man or woman who has spent the first hour with the king has their eyes wide open. They can see the traps of the enemy. They can see the opportunities for profit. They can see the needs of others. The promise is specific. You will be satisfied with bread. Bread represents provision. It represents sustenance. It implies that the act of waking early and seeking wisdom leads directly to physical and material sufficiency. It is not a magic trick. It is cause and effect. When you are up early, you have time to plan. You have time to strategize. While your competitors are sleeping, you are

16:06 sharpening your axe. While the world is dreaming, you are building. The great evangelist DL Moody once said, "I have so much to do today that I must spend the first 3 hours in prayer." This sounds contradictory to the logical mind. If you have a lot to do, shouldn't you start working immediately? No. The wise builder knows that measuring twice cuts once. The time spent in the morning opening your eyes with God is the measurement. It ensures that when you do start cutting, when you start your work, you are cutting in the right place. Matthew 6:33 is the New Testament echo of this principle. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. First is the key word, not second,

16:51 not when you have time. First, the priority you give to God determines the power he gives to you. Imagine you are a soldier. The general calls a briefing at 0500 hours to discuss the battle plan. If you miss the briefing, you run onto the battlefield without knowing where the mines are, without knowing where the enemy is hiding, and without knowing the objective. You might fight hard, but you will fight foolishly. The morning quiet time is your briefing with the commanderin-chief. He unrolls the map of your day. He points out the dangers. He gives you the strategy for victory. He fills your supply pack with patience, wisdom, and joy. Solomon with all his gold and chariots and ships knew that his true source of power was that

17:37 connection with the divine. He knew that if he lost that, he lost everything. That is why he emphasizes the open eye. To have your eyes open means to have vision. People who sleep late often lack vision. They are only focused on the immediate comfort of the blanket. People who rise early are looking at the horizon. They are thinking about the future. They are thinking about legacy. We must stop viewing the alarm clock as an annoyance and start viewing it as an invitation. It is an invitation to the throne room. It is an invitation to the treasury of heaven. It is God saying, "Come up here and I will show you things to come." So the calculation is simple. Give God the first. Give him the best part of your energy, not the leftovers

18:22 of your exhaustion. If you honor him with the dawn, he will honor you with the day. This is the trade of the wise. You trade a little bit of sleep for a massive amount of blessing. You trade the temporary comfort of the pillow for the eternal comfort of his presence. We have spoken of the principles. Now, let us look at the evidence. We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, men and women throughout history, who applied Solomon's code and shook the world. These were not superhumans. They were people of like passions as we are. But they possessed a secret discipline. Let us look at John Wesley. The man whose preaching saved England from a bloody revolution and sparked a revival that touched millions. Wesley was a man of small stature but gigantic spirit. He had a rigorous

19:07 schedule, often riding 20 m a day on horseback and preaching four or five times. How did he sustain this for decades? Wesley rose every morning at 4:00. He called this his morning watch. He believed that he had to secure the fortress of his heart before the world attacked it. He famously said, "Whether I am in the body or out of the body, I know not. But one thing I know that I must have my time with God." For Wesley, this was not a ritual. It was a lifeline. He understood that the power to preach to thousands came from the silence of the one hour with God. He set the trajectory of his day in the dark. Imagine a rocket ship. The most critical part of the launch is the initial burn. If the trajectory is off by a single

19:52 degree at the launchpad, the rocket will miss the moon by thousands of miles. The morning prayer is that initial burn. It sets the angle. It sets the direction. If you wake up angry, you set a trajectory of anger. If you wake up anxious, you set a trajectory of fear. But if you wake up with praise, if you wake up with the word of God, you set a trajectory of victory. Consider Hudson Taylor, the great missionary to China. He lived in busy, crowded conditions. Privacy was almost impossible to find, but he was determined to keep his appointment with the king. He would wake up at 2:00 a.m. or 4:00 a.m., light a small candle, and study his Bible while the rest of the mission house slept. He said, "You do not tune up the

20:38 instruments after the concert has begun. You tune them before." This is a profound insight. Your day is a concert. Your life is a performance for the glory of God. If you wait until you are in the middle of a crisis to try and find your peace, it is too late. You must be in tune before the curtain rises. RG Lnau was a giant in the business world. He invented massive earthmoving machinery. He was a billionaire in his time who gave away 90% of his income. He was known as God's businessman. Letonau credited his success to the guidance he received during his early morning prayer times. He claimed that God gave him engineering designs and business strategies in those quiet moments. He solved mechanical problems that baffled

21:23 other engineers because he brought those problems to the creator of mechanics in the quiet of the morning. He proved that Solomon's promise was true. Stay awake and you will have food to spare. He had food to spare and machines to spare and money to spare because he honored the source. Psalm 119 verse 147 says, "I rise before the dawn and cry for help. I have put my hope in your word." The psalmist connects rising early with hope. When you get up early, you are making a statement of hope. You are declaring that the day holds promise. Depression wants you to stay in bed. Despair wants you to hide under the covers, but hope kicks the covers off. Hope puts its feet on the floor. These generals of faith teach us that

22:09 strategic prayer is not a polite request. It is an act of war. It is a preemptive strike against the enemy. By praying the covering of God over your family, your business, and your mind before the sun comes up, you are establishing a perimeter of defense. You are saying, "Satan, you cannot have this day. This day belongs to the Lord. If you study the lives of the most effective Christians, you will find this common thread. They were all early risers. Not because they liked waking up, but because they loved who they met in the morning. They loved the clarity. They loved the power. They understood that if you want to walk with God, you have to wake up when he calls. And he seems to like the early hours. He met Moses in the morning on the mountain. He met Jacob in the morning at Pineal. He

22:56 met the women at the tomb in the early morning. We live in a time that is desperate for leadership. We need men and women who are stable, who are wise, who are not tossed about by every wave of news. We need pillars, and pillars are forged in the early morning fire of prayer. If you want the wealth of Solomon, you must adopt the discipline of Solomon. You cannot have the result without the routine. You cannot have the output without the input. The witness of history is clear. The heavyweights of the kingdom were light sleepers. They traded the dream world of sleep for the dream of God's kingdom. And because they did, they changed the world. Now it is your turn. We have heard the biology, the warning, the promise, and the witnesses. Now comes the moment of decision. Information without

23:42 application is just entertainment. But you are not here to be entertained. You are here to be transformed. I am challenging you today to take the 7-day early rise challenge. For the next 7 days, I want you to set your alarm for 1 hour earlier than usual. If you wake up at 7, wake up at 6:00. If you wake up at 6:00, wake up at 5. Here is the protocol for this first hour. First, 20 minutes of word. Open your Bible. Read the Proverbs. Read the Gospels. Do not read a devotional book about the Bible. Read the Bible itself. Let the raw word of God wash over your mind. Second, 20 minutes of prayer. Do not just list your wants. Spend time in thanksgiving. Thank

24:28 God for the breath in your lungs. Then pray strategically. Pray for wisdom in your finances. Pray for favor in your work. Pray for the protection of your family. Third, 20 minutes of preparation. Look at your calendar. What are the three most important things you need to do today? Write them down. Visualizing your day in the presence of God creates a road map for success. This is the first fruits of your time. This is the Solomon wealth code in action. I know it will be hard. The first morning your flesh will scream. The second morning your mind will bargain. But by the fourth day, you will feel a clarity you have not felt in years. By the seventh day, you will not want to go back to the way things were. We have covered so much ground today. We learned

25:14 that the brain needs the silence of the theta state to download wisdom. We learned from Solomon that loving sleep leads to poverty and that the sluggard is robbed by the bandit of scarcity. We learned the principle of the open eye, that alertness brings provision. And we saw how giants like Wesley and Lerno use the morning watch to build empires of faith and industry. This channel, the Solomon Wealth Code, exists to equip you with these timeless tools. We are building a community of wise stewards who refuse to accept mediocrity. If this message has sparked a fire in your spirit. If you are ready to stop hitting snooze on your destiny, then I invite you to join us. Click that subscribe button right now. Turn on the notification bell so you never miss a briefing. By subscribing, you are not

26:00 just following a channel. You are joining a movement of people who are reclaiming their time, their wealth, and their purpose for the glory of God. We need you in this army. Now I want to seal this word with prayer. I am not just going to pray for you. I want you to pray with me. I invite you to pray with me now wherever you are. If you can close your eyes. If you are driving, keep them open but focus your heart. Let us go before the throne of grace together. Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus. We acknowledge that you are the Lord of time and the Lord of the harvest. Lord, we confess that we have often loved sleep more than we have loved your presence. We have allowed the pillow to become a master over us. We

26:46 have given the first fruits of our day to anxiety, to social media, and to the world. Forgive us, Father. We repent of the spirit of the slugard. We break the chains of laziness and passivity right now. We ask for a fresh baptism of discipline. Give us the strength to rise while it is still dark. Give us the hunger to seek your face before we seek anything else. Lord, as we commit to this 7-day challenge, I pray that you would meet us in the morning. Open our eyes as Solomon promised that we may be satisfied with bread. Grant us the wisdom to manage our affairs with excellence. Bless the work of our hands. Let our mornings be a sanctuary of power. Let our days be filled with the fruit of the spirit. We declare that we are awake. We are alert. We are ready in

27:34 Jesus' name. Amen. May the peace of God which surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds as you walk in the light of his wisdom. Go in peace and wake up ready.
