Γιατί ο Neo δεν Γέρασε;

Τι Κρύβεται Πίσω από το Όνομα του Ενός;

Τι Είναι η Αναπόσπαστη Ανωμαλία;

0:00 Thomas Anderson, Neo, is the promised savior of humanity who confronts the simulation. He did so bravely, but he could never escape the clutches of the machines and his mind remain trapped in the endless cycles of the Matrix. The story of the seventh savior is not yet over. As the Matrix resurrections ended with Neo and Trinity flying off in victory, the analyst remains in charge of the virtual world and the future of humanity. A lot of time has passed since the announcement of Matrix 5 last year, but with the inevitable sale of Warner Brothers, the possibility of continuing Neo's adventures remains alive. And so in this video, we will discuss the five

0:45 darkest theories behind Neo's return in Matrix 5. Why didn't Neo age after 60 years? Are there secrets behind the music of the Matrix? Welcome to Matrix Explained. Welcome to the desert of the real. >> Number five, why did Neo barely age? The Matrix 5 has been in pre-production since April 2024 with Drew Godard confirmed as director and writer and Lana Wachowski as producer. Godard is better known for his work on the classic ABC series Lost. He penned episodes like

1:32 The Man Behind the Curtain, which explored the origin of Ben Lionus, and is considered one of the best single episodes in television history. With Lost being one of the most multifaceted series ever made, in addition to his work on other productions such as Cloverfield, Alias, and Daredevil, God's involvement as Matrix 5's writer and director gives us hope for the franchise's future. We believe the movie is in good hands, especially since Godard has a proven interest in exploring the origins of his characters, analyzing his previous work. We can see how his stories often focus on the mysterious elements of the plot, connecting them with emotional narratives and personal conflicts, a style he no doubt honed during his time on Lost. If Matrix 5 is a continuation

2:18 of the Matrix resurrections, then it could be the definitive conclusion to Neo and Trinity story. finally explaining their true nature. To understand what I mean, we must revisit the first Matrix trilogy. In the original films, we learned that Neo, the supposed savior, is but a puppet of the architect, an anomaly arising from the imbalance in the equation that must be kept in check to prevent the Matrix's total collapse. However, the Oracle used Neo against the architect to stop the centuries old war between humans and machines, which ironically led to the machine civil war and the analysts rise to power. While many humans in Zion saw Neo as their savior, the unexpected destruction of the city led them to question his allegiance. So, who was

3:05 right? Those who loved Neo or those who doubted him? Is Neo human? A machine or a clone? How could this be explained in Matrix 5? The original Matrix reveals two types of humans. Those cultivated by the machines. Biological hybrids with machine components and those born naturally in Zion. It's unclear whether these Zionborn humans are also genetically modified as they are descendants of the hybrids. Imagine Neo and Trinity having children. The child would be born naturally from intimacy, yet still originate from two hybrid humans. What is clear is that by the time Neo escaped from the matrix, pure humans no longer exist. Only descendants of hybrids remain. In other words, all

3:52 real earthborn humans have gone extinct, replaced by these new humans. The machines have long experimented on humans. The animatrix shows them conducting tests on human brains to study behavior and emotions. Thus, humans as we know them don't exist in the Matrix universe. They've been replaced by hybrids, the result of extensive genetic and technological experimentation. Under this premise, Neo isn't truly human, nor is Naobi or anyone else who believes they're in the real world. They are all hybrids or descendants of hybrids. We believe that Neo and Trinity represent the next evolutionary step the machines seek a human 3.0. One of the biggest dilemmas

4:38 for the machines is the limited human lifespan which is typically around 70 years. This forces the machines to eventually restart the simulation. It's logical to assume they've been trained to extend human life much like a battery company who would try to extend the durability of its products. Neo, as Tom Anderson in the Matrix Resurrections, has a larger socket on his neck and hasn't aged much in 60 years. A fact Naobi notices. >> Yes, a lot has changed, except maybe you. >> Neo is an improved battery, a new model designed to last longer and output more power. This Tom Anderson is the latest upgrade to the Matrix's energy system,

5:23 meant to replace older Copper Tops. With each upgrade, Neo becomes less human, but a more efficient and longerlasting energy source. Now, how does all this connect to Matrix 5? Well, the question remains, what does it mean to be human? And is Tom Anderson more than a ghost of his past or simply a reusable battery? >> Human Batteries 3.0 Zero can keep all the simulations and machine cities running much longer. In fact, tests show that after just a few hours of continuous use, regular batteries wear out. But depending on the simulation, human batteries 3.0 can last up to six times longer. So, keep your simulations and machine cities running longer with human batteries 3.0. The copper top battery that powers the

6:09 future. No regular battery looks like it or lasts like it. Are you ready to recharge your reality? >> We believe Neo's story needs a definitive ending that reveals a new purpose for the anomaly. To reach this conclusion, it's essential to show the first integral anomaly, perhaps through flashbacks. Exploring the Matrix's creation and the machine's experiments on humans are also important. With one of Lost's best character development writers at the helm, we might finally get a clearer explanation of Neo and Trinity's purpose as the anomaly and a satisfying conclusion to their journey. It is time to close this chapter in the Matrix saga and move on to a new beginning. But do you agree? Do you think that Neo and Trinity's lack of

6:55 aging is simply a plot hole, or is there a deeper meaning behind it? Is Neo a longerlasting battery? What are your hopes and expectations for Matrix 5? Number four, the lie of the savior. While Neo is waiting for the answers to his past, Morpheus explains his theory about his role in all of this. >> As to my role in all this, my best guess is that you wrote me as an algorithmic reflection of two forces that helped you become you. Morpheus and Agent Smith. >> This is interesting because he says that Neo created him as an AI that combines

7:40 the two elements that helped Thomas to become the one. Morpheus and Smith. Smith was Neo's opposite. He was everything negative of both machines and humanity. And Morpheus represented hope, the desire to be free and at peace. Thomas was like Smith. He was a hopeless cynic wanting to unravel the system. He was also like Morpheus, hoping for a better future and the end of the matrix. Morpheus was willing to give his life so that Neo could live. Yet Neo did give his life at the hands of Smith to save Morpheus. All of these elements activated the integral anomaly in Neo. He became what he was thanks to the influence of these two characters which is quite strange since it is similar to

8:27 what the analyst once said. According to the analyst, Neo needed trinity to be activated. The anomaly requires another person to function. Neo also created this digital version of Morpheus to awaken him, which makes this even more suspicious. It is as if both the machines and humans are trying to awaken the integral anomaly. Now, Morpheus says that Neo's brain is addicted to what the analyst was giving him in the Matrix. The ship's doctor in the outside world is saying that Neo could die, but Morpheus knows what he needs. Neo has spent years being manipulated and subjected to chemicals and simulations. The analyst has made him addicted to the system. Neo has become submissive and docile to the system. His strength has been drained. But Morpheus has studied

9:13 Neo's life and knows that in times of stress, Neo can come back to life. But just like everything in the Matrix, this has a double connotation. The idea that a system makes people submissive with a blue pill or being connected to a simulation could be criticism of the pharmaceutical industry and of the people who are 100% dependent and connected to their personalized simulations. Returning to the movie, Neo is transported to a martial arts training simulation where Morpheus tells him that he must fight if he wants to have a future. Neo tells him that he is tired of fighting, but the young Morpheus tests him regardless. This scene is a reference to Neo's training in the first movie, the scene where Neo learns kung fu. This means that Neo is

10:00 being subjected to the same steps he went through in the first movie. The scene is imitating the original film. Morpheus is trying to make him remember who he is. Using a similar training method, Morpheus is provoking him. He tells Neo how the Matrix made him believe that this world was everything he deserved, but something inside Neo knew that he had to wake up. This is a reference to the fact that deep inside Thomas was Neo, even though the analyst erased his memories, but this is also a reference to social confirmism. When people settle for jobs or social statures assigned to them by the system that includes religious and political beliefs, they believe that this is all they can aspire to. The system that oppresses many makes them obedient and

10:45 makes them believe that they will never escape the system. But Thomas doesn't care about any of that. There is only one thing that could bring Neo back. And Morpheus makes Neo remember what he is fighting for, and that's Trinity. If Neo wants to see her again, he must remember who he is. Faced with the realization that he must fight for Trinity, the anomaly is activated and Neo releases a large amount of energy which destroys the simulation and causes the computers of the Namosin to overload and burst into sparks. This is because Neo releases more power than a normal red pill. Neo wakes up on his bunk just as he did in the first film. He touches the plug behind his neck to confirm that what he is experiencing is not a dream. History has repeated itself. Bugs enters

11:33 the room and they talk. Neo tells her that if these plugs and cables are real, it means that the Matrix has once again stolen his life, but Bugs responds with a rather interesting comment. >> If we don't know what's real, you can't resist. Much more could be hidden behind Bugs's words than the meaning of the Matrix. Since Bugs cannot know for sure if her fight for the resistance is also part of the system of manipulation, Bugs then says that the Matrix took Neo's life, something that meant a lot to her and turned it into something trivial. This phrase is perhaps a bit meta and is part of what Lana wanted to convey with the film. Maybe Neo's transformation story was something that meant a lot to Lana and

12:18 other people. But over time, The Matrix became a big franchise, and Neo's story became highly marketable and profitable. It's as if the systems that the Matrix creators were trying to fight by introducing new ideas were turned into financial gain for the systems. This is a sad tale in our history. Religions have corrupted the story of a savior to control others. Under the context of the matrix, the story of the savior was corrupted and used by the machines. That is what the matrix does. It takes our ideas and dreams and uses them against us. Neo is back in the matrix again. So, does the system in our world take advantage of our hopes and dreams and use them against us?

13:11 Number three, Neo's secret lies in the music. In Matrix Revolutions, during Neo and Smith's climactic battle in the streets of Mega City, we can hear a song that might just hide the true meaning of the Matrix. What is hidden behind the song Neo Demarong at the end of Matrix 3? Studying the Matrix in depth, we realize that every single thing shown has a purpose. Every scene and element was meticulously detailed to represent something and the music of the Matrix is no exception. The music also hides

13:57 something. During our research into the secrets of the Matrix soundtrack, we stumbled upon a book written by Dr. Brahib Chael. This philosophical piece of literature related to the Matrix universe has a fragment of an interview with Don Davis from 2003 where he talks about the inspiration behind the film's soundtrack. Part of the interview talks about the symbolism behind the appearance of the entity Deosex Machina. Quote, "One of the things I did in acknowledging this Vgarian tradition of philosophy and multimedia drama was that I quoted the Tristan chord over the Dex Machina. It was kind of hidden amongst the orchestration, but it was definitely there. But the Tristan chord kind of came to symbolize the end of harmony of classical theory and the beginning of a

14:42 tonality. I kind of thought it would be cool to use the Tristan chord to show the pivot at the end of these three Matrix movies. End quote. Davis goes on to discuss his song of choice for the Neo and Smith battle. The way that came about is that Larry and Andy initially told me they wanted a major choir statement in what they called the super burly brawl which was the final cataclysmic confrontation between Neil and Smith. I knew that we needed to have a text for the choir to sing or else it wouldn't you know it really wouldn't function properly. I think it was Larry who came up with the idea of using passages from the uponads which are the ancient Vic scriptures that the Hindu religion is based on and he wanted to do it in the original Sanskrit. And uh when I saw the passages that they had chosen,

15:29 I was astonished at how well integrated these ancient writings were to the entire ideology that Larry and Andy had come up with for the whole thing. These are referencing the one >> from delusion lead me to truth. From darkness lead me to light. From death lead me to immortality. >> And these texts are amazing appropo to the whole ontological concept of the matrix. It refers to the one. Let me read one of them. In him are woven the sky and the earth and all the regions of the air. And in him rests the mind and all the powers of life. Know him as the one and leave aside all other words. He is the bridge of immortality. end quote. Davis concludes with quote, I mean that's amazing. And the first text you

16:17 hear sung in the burly brawl sequence is I think that adds a whole layer of meaning to the entire trilogy. End quote. So then, what do the song lyrics say? For years, the words of this song have remained an open secret amongst Matrix fans. The lyrics of the song played during the climactic Smith fight scene seemed to have directly inspired elements of what was shown on screen. Therefore, a deeper analysis of both the song's lyrics and their intended symbolic purpose within the narrative is

17:03 needed. Let us read the lyrics. From the unreal, delusion, lead me to the real truth. From the darkness, lead me to the light. From death, lead me to immortality. He who knows both knowledge and action. With action overcomes death, and with knowledge reaches immortality. In him are woven the sky and the earth and all the regions of the air. And in him rest the mind and all the powers of life. Know him as the one and leave aside all other words. He is the bridge of immortality. Beyond the senses is the mind and beyond the mind is reason its essence. Beyond reason is the spirit in man and beyond this is the spirit of the

17:48 universe. The evolver of all. When the five senses and the mind are still and reason itself rests in silence, then begins the path supreme. So on and so forth. And when he is seen in his eminence and transcendence, then the ties that have bonded the heart are un loosened. The doubts of the mind vanish, and the law of karma works no more. The interesting thing about this song is that it seems to describe perfectly word for word the path of the one. Yet these lyrics originated from ancient thousands of years old Hindu writings, a subliminal message that enhances the meaning of the Neo Smith battle. The fact that Neo confronts Smith against a backdrop of a mantra about

18:35 transcendence, immortality, and the one is shocking. This likely comes as no surprise since every aspect of the Matrix holds deeper meaning when analyzed closely. Easter eggs are found throughout the entire franchise. The song opens a door to another Hindu influence on the films. Concepts like the chosen one, the matrix cycles and the golden code could be explained by facets of Hindu cosmology. By exploring the layered connections across lyrics, visuals and philosophies, we come closer to grasping the full vision underlying the Matrix. Each link revealed pulls the complex narrative into sharper focus. It is possible that in these ancient writings lies the true meaning of the Matrix trilogy, one that will lean more toward Hinduism and existentialist

19:22 philosophy. But do you agree? Did you know about the true meaning behind the music during Smith and Neo's final battle in Matrix Revolutions? Number two, what hides behind the name of the one? Neil's birth name is Thomas Anderson. Thomas comes from Hebrew and means twin or he who has a double, which already suggests the duality of our protagonist. He lives in two different realities simultaneously. >> It seems that you've been living two lives. The name is quite appropriate for someone who's leading a double life in the Matrix. During the day, Thomas

20:09 Anderson is a software programmer for reputable company called Metacortex. At night, he assumes a different persona in the world of cyberspace. However, the meaning of the name Thomas is not limited to the duality of our character in the Matrix. The name carries another significance in the biblical tradition, further enriching the character of Neo. Thomas, also known as doubting Thomas in Christianity, is one of the 12 apostles of Jesus Christ. The story of Thomas in the New Testament is relevant to understanding the character in the Matrix. Thomas is primarily remembered for his disbelief following the resurrection of Jesus. He refused to accept that Jesus has risen from the dead until he had a chance to touch his wounds and prove to himself that he was

20:54 real. Only then did his skepticism dissipate. The ideas of doubt and resurrections are reoccurring themes in these movies. From Thomas being a doubter to dying and being resurrected, Neo is skeptical when presented with the truth by Morpheus, who tells him that the world he knew is nothing more than a simulation created by machines. Initially, Mr. Anderson refused to believe it. >> No, I don't believe it. It's not possible. >> Stop. Let me out. >> Like Thomas in the Bible, Neo needs empirical evidence to be convinced of the perplexing truth. He needs to touch the wounds, so to speak, and experience them firsthand before accepting that the

21:41 world he knew as Thomas Anderson was an illusion. Only then does his skepticism dissipate, and he accepts his role as Neo, the one who is destined to free humanity from the Matrix. In Matrix Resurrections, Neo is once again given the name Thomas Anderson. He is no longer the savior. His memories are erased and he has returned to being a doubtful person. He is once again doubting Thomas. The Matrix tells the journey from skepticism to faith, from illusion to reality and doubt to certainty. A journey that each of us will experience in our search for the truth. Just as Thomas the Apostle played a crucial role in spreading the Christian faith after overcoming his skepticism, Neo once he gets over his disbelief plays a pivotal role in

22:26 freeing humanity from the Matrix. Now Thomas's last name Anderson is of Scandinavian origin which translates to Son of Man. In the context of the movie The Matrix, the last name could be interpreted in several ways, each adding a new layer of meaning to Neo's character. Firstly, son of man can be interpreted in the most literal way, representing Thomas Anderson's humanity within the matrix. Although Neo is known for his superhuman abilities and his status as the one, he is still in essence only human. >> Neo's humanity was crucial to his fight against the machines. In the Bible, son of man is one of the titles used to refer to Jesus. This title alludes to the human nature of Christ, but also to his divine mission to save humanity.

23:11 Like Jesus, Neo is the savior of man, the one chosen to free the world from the oppression of the matrix. The parallels between Neo and the son of God become even more apparent when we consider Neo's resurrection in the first film after being killed by Agent Smith, reminiscent of Jesus's resurrection after his crucifixion. This moment marks the point of no return for Neo when he fully accepts his role as the one. And since then, he has dedicated himself to the liberation of man from the matrix. Also, Neo became the son of man by sacrificing himself for humanity just as Jesus did. When Neo died, his arms were spread like being nailed to a cross, a symbol of Christianity. Thus, Thomas Anderson's full name and his evolution

23:56 to Neo illustrates his journey from his ordinary life in the Matrix, his awakening to the truth, and his ascension as the savior of man. And this is just the meaning behind his blue pill name. His true name, Neo, also has a few hidden things behind its meaning. For starters, Neo is a prefix of Greek origin, meaning new. This symbolizes the birth of Thomas Anderson's new identity as he awakens to reality and abandons his old life in the Matrix. Neo is the new version of Thomas Anderson, freed from the bonds of illusion and able to perceive and manipulate the Matrix. My name is Neo.

24:44 But there's more. Neo is also an anagram for one, a title given to him throughout the trilogy. This is Neo's destiny, his role as the savior. Like messianic figures in many religious traditions, including Jesus Christ and Christianity, Neo is expected to give his life to liberate humanity. This parallel is reinforced by many Christian symbols and references found throughout the movies. On an even deeper level, Neo can also be interpreted as a symbol of Gnostic philosophy, an ancient spiritual tradition that emphasizes direct personal knowledge of the divine. In Nosis, the human spirit is believed to be trapped in the material world and must be awakened to its true divine nature. This is the journey that Neo takes from his ignorant life in the

25:30 matrix to his journey as the one and finally his sacrifice for the salvation of all. But do you agree? And number one, what is the integral anomaly? Before Neo entered the picture, the people of Zion believed that a savior would arrive. the one who would destroy the matrix. This savior would be the successor of a previous messiah, the same one that freed the first humans from the simulation. The red pills believed that the messiah could modify and destroy the simulation. But this idea of a savior was a lie. The messianic savior never existed. And this is something that Neo discovers in

26:16 Matrix Reloaded. The architect's introduction in Matrix Reloaded was when the truth of the anomaly was revealed to Neo. revealing that although Neo is human, parts of him were not. For hundreds of years, humans were subjected to multiple cycles of simulation. Each cycle lasting about 100 years with reoccurring events. At the end of each cycle, the anomaly was manifested in a human. This special human was manipulated by the oracle and guided towards meeting the architect. After meeting the architect, the anomaly is taken to the source of the simulation and triggers the restart of the matrix cycle. This entails the complete destruction of Zion. This was supposed to be the beginning of the end for Neo. He would then have to choose a new group

27:02 of humans to repopulate the new Zion. You are the eventuality of an anomaly which despite my sincerest efforts, I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. Now, what does the Oracle have to do with any of this? The architect is the self-proclaimed father of the matrix. He created the Matrix, but his simulations were flawed because he didn't understand human irrationality. Therefore, he needed the help of another intuitive program, the Oracle, which she eventually added the concept of choice. For the first time, the Matrix was stable. But once the simulation is about to reach 100 years of existence, the eventual anomaly occurred. This means that although the Matrix was more stable, it now had a

27:49 serious flaw. The architect was left with only two options to deal with this flaw. Restart the Matrix from scratch. Go back to the beta versions and try to find the perfect simulation or continue the postchoice version. The previous simulations were so unstable that the architect choose the latter. From then on, the architect would try to eliminate this anomaly in each cycle or at the very least keep it under strict supervision. In our previous video, we talked about how the oracle possibly created the red and blue pills as part of the choice system. And it is in the choice that created this bug in the system that gives the anomaly more powerful abilities than the administrator of the matrix. The architect conditioned the simulation that Neo went through from childhood

28:35 until the anomaly manifested itself in him. We can see on many of the tiny TV screens Neo's life from youth to adult. These scenes are available in the making of Matrix Reloaded. You can see how other children mistreated Neo and how he lived a solitary life. In other older videos, we tried to explain this integral anomaly before The Matrix Resurrections was released. Now, before we review what we thought the anomaly was and what we think it is now, we need to look into something the analyst said in the movie. >> Turns out in my matrix, the worse we treat you, the more we manipulate you, the more energy you produce. The key to it all, you and her quietly yearning for

29:20 what you don't have while dreading losing what you do. >> There is something within Neo that is generating massive amounts of energy. Now, what was our original theory on this program? Imagine that the matrix is like an online video game where most operations are handled through a system called client server. In this system, the player's actions and inputs are sent to the server for processing. This is how most commercial online games work. However, there is another way that online games can operate. It's called a peer-to-peer system. In this system, the workload is divided among users who shares resources such as processing power and network bandwidth directly with each other without the need for a central server. Each user is both provider and consumer of resources. In

30:06 the Matrix, the simulation would be like a peer-to-peer network where each human functions as a server and user at the same time. This allows the red pills to manipulate the reality of the matrix. By being aware of the simulation, they can influence its immediate reality with their mind. Morpheus told the Neo to free his mind before jumping off the building because fear, doubt, and disbelief are limitations that can be overcome mentally. This is why the spoon boy told the Neo that to bend the spoon, he must first realize that there is no spoon, meaning that it can be mentally manipulated within the simulation. The machines would create a peer-to-peer network using the humans instead of relying on central servers controlled by themselves because this configuration

30:52 has its advantages. The information does not depend on a single centralized location. So if someone tried to destroy a central server, they would not be able to take down the entire simulation. In the case of the Matrix, since there is no central server, there is no specific location the red pills can attack, making it difficult to destroy the system. This type of network also has its disadvantages. For example, if there is a problem with one of the users, it will affect all other users. This is one of the machine's biggest concerns with this system. Since the human mind is a fundamental part of the creation and maintenance of the matrix. If someone begins to doubt the simulated reality, that doubt spreads and creates flaws in the simulation. These glitches can

31:37 manifest as strange unexpected events such as those seen in the Animatrix. People's doubts create flaws in the simulation and the more people doubt the more problems occur. This creates a snowball effect where more people notices the flaws in reality which in turn causes more doubts and more failures. Eventually all these faults can come together to form the anomaly, a major threat to the matrix system. That anomaly would destabilize the entire system causing a massive failure visible to every human connected to the matrix. humans will no longer believe in the simulation and therefore the matrix will collapse. This is why even if 99% of the people accept the program, that 1% who don't will eventually cause the anomaly.

32:23 Now, after the premiere of Matrix Resurrections, the hypothesis of the Matrix servers gained new strength. Although Thomas Anderson was a major source of power, the simulation continued to operate even without him. The integral anomaly is an error that became a program that was then used by the analyst. It was a fortunate accident for the machines. Neo can generate much energy for the matrix, but it comes at a cost. The cost is this whole messiah dynamic and the risk of the anomaly destroying the matrix. But what if the anomaly is something else? Why was the anomaly created just when the false choice was added to the matrix? The integral anomaly is a code that encapsulates the sum of all human errors. But it could be something more. What if the Messiah already existed? In

33:09 Matrix 4, the analyst was trying to erase Neo's memories and keep him under control. But the memories of his past alive, as well as a deep feeling of wanting to wake up could not be suppressed. The architect had to restart the simulation to keep the anomaly at bay. But perhaps what the father interpreted as a comprehensive anomaly was the Messiah manifested in a new form. Maybe each version of the one for the past 700 years, give or take, has been the same anomaly. The body of the previous one was never seen after Neo lost his life in Matrix 3. His body was taken by the machines and he was integrated back into the cycle. Maybe Thomas Anderson was the Messiah all along and the machines have always thought he was a mistake. Perhaps the reason why the architect could not find

33:55 that 100% balance is because deep within the human soul is the wish to be rescued. And perhaps that's the secret behind the integral anomaly. The one might not be the sum of all errors of humanity, but rather the sum of all the desires to escape. The one is the messiah created by a society collectively trapped in the matrix. Neo is the savior and he is the integral anomaly. Or at least this is the conclusion we have reached. We've realized that the anomaly has never been completely under the control of the machines. It will always fight to free the humans. By adding choice to the equation, the oracle accidentally gave hope to humanity. And that hope became the anomaly. But do you agree? Was it the sum of all hopes that created the
