00 Hi guys, today's we are joined by Philando, a price action crypto trader who's been trading with us for past 10 months. He's generated over 35,000 in profits and he is actively sharing his trading journey and setups online. Maybe you notice him because he goes by a nickname Phil Great on our discord community. In this interview, Philando breaks up his price action strategy and show his current trade that he is in. So, hi Philando. How are you doing today? I'm doing well. How are you doing? I'm doing good as well. So, thank you for joining us. My first question is where in the world are you based right now? Um, currently I am in Jamaica. Nice. So, is trading common in Jamaica?
47 Yes, it's pretty common. Maybe not so much crypto trading, but trading in general is very common in Jamaica. That's interesting. Do you know many local people who are trading? uh like in terms of like friends or just like in general I think maybe like if there is some like community for like crypto trading or is it like you know in terms of you trading is it more like solar journey for you or do you know some people in Jamaica when it comes on the crypto it's more so like solar trading they mostly trade like synthetic um assets yes that's amazing so my next questions are going to be uh more about your charts. So you are pretty active in
32 sharing your setups online which is super valuable I feel like but I would like to go a bit deeper if you can share maybe some of your behind the scenes insight so that would be amazing. So this is the trade that you are currently in or Yes. This is a trade that I I woke up this morning and I actually close closed it out. I close it out here. Amazing. It's nice one. So on what time frame do you usually trade? I I trade using all the time frame and then I come down to the 15 to 1 hour time frame for entry. Mhm. Yeah, that's good strategy. So the blue uh or purple block is the resistance and
22 yes so this is um a RB arbitral. So on we can see that it's like currently like low and um it's likely to like correct cuz just based on the market structure when market makes a lower low it tends to come back to make like a low high. So, it's like a low on Monday and then I'll just go down to the weekly time frame and uh I'll look to see the the trend. This um time frame is currently being a downtrend cuz the last thing it made was like a lower low push down this lower low and now it's like pushing back up. And right here, I'm looking now based on this previous candle, I saw that it has quite a bit of volume on it.
08 So, I'm like I'm thinking, okay, maybe this is a bottom. Maybe it's going to push up. So, I'm thinking maybe it's going to do something like that, right? But obviously, we can trade the weekly time frame. So, one of the main things that I tend to look for is like the space. So if the market is pushing up, I'm asking myself, where is it rejecting from? So I'm looking to the left and I can see this previous resistance area right and then where is it likely to go to? It's like the next resistance area and then we have this next resistance area where is likely to push through or it could reject this previous support. So um when I come to bigger time frame first this this level that I have here this yellow level is the monthly time frame level. So if you go back to the
54 monthly time frame, you can see this level right here is like a monthly support. I mark it off. It will make more sense on a daily time frame, but I wanted to show you like the high time frame. I usually start on Monday and then weekly. And what I check for is the trend and then like the space available. So now this is the daily time frame and they say this is the daily low. So the daily low here and this is the daily high. So this would basically be the structure in terms of market was trending down that and then this was the last higher low. So I'm expecting the market to potentially push up like that. Right? Because broke this lower high. So now we
40 shifted on the daily make a higher high and then we came down we didn't bring this higher low. So on the daily in the internal structure right here I saw that the market basically broke above resistance. I tend to look at the volume as well to see if the volume increase a bit. But the the key thing or key discovery here is the space right. Uh but ideally this is this is how um DT basically trade direction target timing and this is where it actually shines from here to here there is three space for price to like run into before this particular area and
26 we're on the daily time frame which means that if you go to lower time frame and the 4our time frame the 1 hour time frame it should be like a smooth trend. So I basically go down to the 4hour time frame now and check to see if the 4hour time frame is also bullish or if it's breaking above resistance. If it's breaking above resistance that has more priority. So on the 4hour time frame just marking off the structures and then this particular point right here high we broke this area. So now we're pretty much in an uptrend from this particular point. This is like a higher low and then we push up like that and then go with resistance higher low. So last time when I saw that okay we
14 actually made a break above this resistance right here and left behind the candle. I check to see now this engulfing candle right here had volume. All right. So to go a little bit further now to find tune entry to the 1 hour time frame and 1 hour time frame looking for the same thing. So this is now the the last low higher low and this is the higher higher point. Yeah. So now the mark basically the push made a higher high. So I was going to build and it was kind like the high high point. So I would not wait for the entry confirmation. So what I did, I just used like a Fibonacci to basically measure from the height there
59 and where the the 38.2 uh I because it had quite a bit of volume from here this this candle I figured that it wasn't going to probably come all the way here. So I have to use like the the 38.2 level. If I was waiting, I don't think I would get the the ID entry. Yes, the entry confirmation would have come a little bit later. And this is the this is a two R to the first point where I'm looking to take 50%. And the reason for 50% here is going back to the daily. This is a daily resistance area. So, okay, the market is trending up, you know, it could still potentially reject here and then come back down and then do all
46 this. So, ideally, it's going to take 50% here, but you know, just in case the market actually breaks out, you can then take another um like 4hour time frame and you could potentially go to take some profit here. Yes. Amazing. So basically you have mentioned that for your entry you are looking into the Fibonacci levels right and for the take profit you basically looking for the last uh resistance right that's the purple block yes so so the idea with how um I actually treat is that you want to target the niche by higher high point can I ask you one more question about uh this setup so you usually take uh full profit or do you also take uh partial
33 profits for your trades because I can see you are already in like half profit. So, have you takes uh some profits already or you waiting for a full TP? It's like so small. It's like two R or I just to full TP. Mhm. The the way is clear in terms of there is no major resistance. What is this one? Yes. So, this is basically the the setup side trade. This one is more ideal. So filtering from the the daily or the weekly time frame. This is like an uptrend market comes on to create like a higher low you know once you see some signs like it's ready to push up and you check to see if there's enough space before it pushes.
18 So that was basically one setup for a short yes on a left and one setup for a long uh straight right. It's just um two setups in general in terms of like the locations of where I treat terms of structure. Mhm. Right. I show you the the correction on time and also continuation of it. Yeah. So we can use it both direction, right? Yes. Amazing. That's great. So we have seen your uh charts. So you are basically price action trader, right? So how did you start with your strategy? Was that something that you have developed over a time or was it something that you have learned from uh another crypto trader? Yes. So I basically used to just go out
05 and like try to like study um the top price action traders in this space and over time I would notice certain similarities amongst them. Even though they don't know each other but they all trade price action. I realized that the way they trade was pretty much almost like the same. It's just that their approach or their thinking is like slightly different. And then you know as I started to like take it on myself you know I started to learn some something as well as like space to start like the trades and that was like a big breakthrough. So for how many trades do you trade now? Well, the setups um can be found like pretty pretty quickly. So, I would say
51 like two to five trades. Um I like to like split the risk between like two trades um at a time. So, that's why the the trades they be like so so much. So, like I'm in ARB right now. Um I had a set of order to enter a and I have like my next question is do you trade on weekends or do you strictly stick week days only for your trading? Um I pretty much every day I I just come to the market and scan to see your previous setup. I find weekend trading um to be actually better um because yeah in the in with crypto in the weak days it's is a little more more clear so much like news and uncertainty you know
40 if Trump comes out and decides to um you know add some new tariff the market might might react negatively or positively in the end you just never know but on the weekend you know there's news coming out So you know it's more so like price action trading traders trading just based on what's happening in the market not so much based on the fundamentals. Mhm. That makes totally sense. That's a good point actually because like during a weekend it's more stable and it's less volatile as we mentioned there is no news trading or anything like that. So I totally understand that it is maybe more you know stable for this type of strategy. That's great.
26 Yes. Um, so my next question is something between like trading and your like uh life. So how do you manage to balance your trading with the rest of your life? Uh currently um trading is my right now. Trading is the only thing that I am pretty much doing. Yes. So you feel like focusing solely on the trading help you be more profitable, right? Yes. help me in terms more of focus but there's also um the power trading comes in the main thing and then you enter a trade like there are four different types of that you trade so you know in the morning I enter a trade you know I
12 might you know two wins and I'm good you know I take a break but then it's like I'm free later on yes definitely so how do you deal with a drone downs emotionally like when something like that happens or like also like risk management wise when this happens. Well, usually when you go on like a losing streak or you draw down, you know, the the confidence, you know, start to like decrease and you start to feel down especially if you've been losing a lot, right? So, um it's not it's not easy. Um what I tend to do since it's like a state of like confidence, right? Yeah. you know, like revisiting like my dream plan, you know, I'm just like looking back over some trees that I've
00 made, you know, helps like um resto just going through look for another setup and the excitement for the next setup will actually um reduce the the emotional tural from like the previous loss cuz then you're looking at okay, this is like another opportunity, you know, why why dwell on the past when you can focus this other opportunity. That's a great point. So, have you ever hit a breaking point when you almost gave up and what was your motivation to not give up on a trading? I want to say breaking point because I already committed from the start that I would give up but definitely psychologically yes times been there.
48 Mhm. Amazing.
