00 Could you introduce yourself first ? After graduating from a private high school in Korea, I moved to the US and started my career at Apple, but then moved to Nvidia last year. Why do you think Apple was able to become the world's best company ? Working at Apple, I felt that people really love Apple products . As I was doing that, I got the feeling that I was working even harder. So, why do you think Nvidia is now the world's leading company ? First of all, I think that the company reacts very quickly to people's opinions and such, and if there is a need for modification even for a huge property, it starts to flourish very quickly without hesitation. Is there something that you did n't think was important when you were young, but now that you look back, you realize it's really important ? I think it's luck . It's really important for people to work hard, but in the end, people need both hard work and luck, so

46 what we can do is try as much as possible to increase the chances of the trial being successful. We have to throw as many bahts as possible to reduce the chances of a trial, so we can't do that. So first of all, I contacted you out of the blue, and I'm so grateful that you contacted me again . I'm also very grateful to Jinwoo, the person I interviewed earlier, for helping me connect with you. So, I'm going to start today's interview with Seungwoo. Could you please introduce yourself first ? hello. My name is Seunghoon Choi and I currently work in the semiconductor design team at NVIDIA . Nice to meet you. It's so nice to meet you. So, first of all, we're going to focus on careers today. In fact, Minsago is a school that many people are familiar with in Korea. So, what do you think is the biggest thing you learned while attending Minsago?

32 When I was in school, it was famous for its academics and civil affairs, but it was also a school that focused a lot on physical strength and academic ability. As I think about it, the thing I was able to develop the most through civil affairs was mental strength, and then self-reliance. Yes, I think that's what I did. So for example, now when I go to school, I have to do kendo every morning at 6 o'clock. On weekdays. So, all the students wake up at 6 in the morning and start kendo ? yes. All students. Of course, now that you're in the next grade, you can choose Taekwondo, but anyway, since you're a freshman, you have to do the sword dance unconditionally, and if you don't clean your room and do your makeup properly before going to school in the morning, you get deducted points, so you still have penalty points. So, because bad things happen, I've been thoroughly managing my own life, and as a result, I've definitely developed a certain mentality and self-reliance. And one thing I'd like to say about self-reliance is that if students at Minsago do

21 n't have a class they want to take at school, they can make a request form among themselves and submit it to their teachers, and the teachers will create the class for them . In that sense, I was able to become more independent. It definitely had that kind of open atmosphere. School. Right? Oh, okay. Then, as far as I know, there are international and domestic classes within the Civil Aviation Administration. Was there a reason that Seunghoon decided to go to the United States at that time? Now, as far as I know, the format of the international and domestic classes at Minsa-gu has changed a lot, but when I took the entrance exam, you had to decide in advance whether you would like to enroll in the international or domestic class. If you look at it that way, in fact, when you apply for high school in middle school, you already decide everything when you take the high school entrance exam . Of course, there are many great scholars who think that a middle school student will go study abroad later in life, but in my case, I

06 never thought about it. Honestly, my parents had a big influence on me. Even though he's still a middle school student, Seunghoon graduated from Caltech . So, I'm curious if there was a class that you took in college that was the most memorable. Of all the classes I took at Caltech, the one that impressed me the most was the Einstein Paper Project. What that means is, there are a lot of notes that Einstein left behind before he passed away, and those notes, of course, contain some personal diaries, and some equations about scientific theories, and things like that, but not all of them have been digitized yet . I do n't know if it's still like that, but anyway, as part of the class, our students are now digitizing and computerizing materials that have not yet been systematically digitized. At the same time, it was a really meaningful class where we could study about Einstein's life and do these two

53 things at the same time . So it was really good. Because even Einstein was a visiting professor at Caltech before he did it . When he was alive. But when you came here, the school was in Pasadena, and Pasadena had really nice weather and was now like heaven. That's what you said. So what does that mean now? I don't know. It just felt really good. Just yes. yes. The class itself was very inspiring, and in a way, my engineering is actually electrical engineering. I'm so glad to see you in my major. Nice to meet you. So, he's like a senior to me, but actually, when I talk to my friends about that, the thing that I agree with the most is that it's hard to find a role model as an engineer. But even in that aspect, while taking the class, I was able to feel that that is what a good engineer looks like . Oh, right. Yes, that's right. I've heard a lot from great people, and there were a

39 lot of role models. Among them, since you mentioned role models earlier, one of the things I was taking a class on was about space science and space physics. It was a class about optics science. It was a class where we learned about how to measure and observe the shape of the Earth by shooting light from space, and how we make those measurements through physical equations . But when I took that class, the professor who taught the class was someone who was originally in charge of the solar system at NASA's Propulsion Laboratory , and was in charge of solar system exploration . As I was doing that, he told me interesting stories about things that happened while he was working at NASA, and he also gave great lectures. So, when I saw that, I

24 thought, "Oh, I wish there was someone like that who not only has the skills, but also teaches others well." On the other hand, I also thought this. That professor always wore his clothes neatly and always looked tidy. Because usually, professors, engineers, scientists, they're just now walking around in a semi-sonic state . While watching it, I thought to myself that I should become a cool engineer like this one day. I've had that thought too. Oh, this is so good. Then, I'm also curious about one thing: each university has its own characteristics. What do you think are the characteristics of Caltech ? I would like to talk about two main characteristics. First of all, the school is very small. So now the number of students per grade is just over 200. Next, since the number of students in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades is now around 1,000, the good thing is that each class is held on a really small scale, and since we have really great people, like Nobel Prize winners and those who are great at NASA, we

11 can give those classes almost at the level of private tutoring . I think that's what's really great about things like private tutoring . Another thing that is unique is that although Caltech is an engineering school, it is actually more focused on natural science and pure science than engineering. In particular, among them, this school is now very interested in physics, so the interesting thing is that regardless of your major, you have to take a lot of physics classes. So, for example, even people majoring in biology now have to take classes in quantum science . yes. Everyone must come in. So, there is a culture that places a lot of importance on natural science. As a result, another characteristic that emerged from this is that when students graduate, they tend to go on to academia, that is, to become professors, rather than going into the industry . great. Then, I'm also curious about something. If there's one thing you've learned the most while practicing swords, what do you think it is? Well, first of all,

00 I think I developed a certain thinking ability that allowed me to think about and solve very difficult problems over a long period of time. So now, when you look at assignments or test questions at school, they generally give you a small number of very difficult problems and ask you to solve them within a week. You can even collaborate with your friends . There are a lot of cases like this in open book . Rather than having everyone gather in class and watch in the middle of class. As I was doing that, I think the first thing I gained was the ability to think in a way that allows me to approach difficult problems persistently and try things from various angles without giving up right away, rather than on problems that have immediate solutions. The second one now seems to be a change of humility . I guess I thought I was good at this and that until I first came to Korea, but now that I've entered school, I feel like I'm really small because there are Korean friends who are much smarter than me, smarter than me, and even kids who got first place in the whole school at science high schools and English high schools and won gold medals at international Olympiads

47 . And then I thought, oh my gosh, there are so many smart people in the world and so many difficult problems in the world, so I can't try to solve them on my own . We need to work together with all these smart people to solve this problem . I think that's how I came to have that attitude . When I heard this story, there was one more thing I was curious about. This is something I hear a lot from people I interview here, but I think there are a lot of things that make people a little bit intimidated when they first come to the United States. Because there are only a few Koreans, this may be the first time they are in this kind of environment, and as you said, there are so many great people, so in the process, many people realized for the first time that they can't be number one in everything . So, in that process, you said, "Oh, I have to be myself, but it wasn't easy at first, so it was difficult." Now, if you can relate to that part, how do you think you overcame those things ? I think there is definitely that part. I

37 feel that it is almost impossible to be number one in every field and that it is even difficult and close to impossible to become the best in one field. So, for example, in the semiconductor field that I work in and in any programming field, there are so many people in the world who are better than me, so I'm trying to think in that way now . Of course, I may be lacking in some areas, for example, semiconductors, compared to others, but in other areas, I can do things that others can't . If you think about all these things, there definitely are such things. And then I started to understand myself a little bit more, and now, yes. I think I'm overcoming those things. It's so good. Then, I would like to ask you about Apple next. Seunghoon, what did you do while working at Apple? At Apple, the semiconductor team now has a role in verifying semiconductor designs . So now, both Apple and Nvidia are companies that are now making semiconductors themselves, which is commonly called fanless, so they

24 are companies that do not do the process but design, and it is very important that there are no errors in the semiconductor design drawings . That's why I took on the role of finding and fixing such bugs . It's so good. Well, Apple is actually a company that people think of as a dream company. To the extent that you can disclose, what was Seungwoo's process of joining Apple like? Previously, when I was doing my master's degree, during the vacation of the last semester, I was working on the internet at a different company in Silk Valley, not at Bitec . Actually, this was my first and last interview. Before, I was doing research because of arson, so anyway, but when my internship was almost over, I received a return offer from the company I was interning with, telling me to come back to the electrical engineering department after my internship. At that time, I was living in a boarding house and doing an internship, and a certain person who lived in the same boarding house told me that. No, that company is good, but

09 if it's in the semiconductor design field, why don't you try applying to Apple too ? Apple is not a company that only does semiconductors, but it is really good at designing semiconductors . Be sure to apply. After hearing that, I thought, "Well, then, even though I would have to go through the difficult process of applying to a new company again, I decided to give it a try and applied to Apple ." So I did this, and then one day I sent a message to an Apple recruiter on LinkedIn . I'd like to talk to you for a moment . That one time, we were really lucky and got a reply from him the next morning . Please give me your phone number and I'll call you right away . So I talked to him and set up an interview, so yes. It got stuck. Oh, that's such a fun story. Then, in fact, there is one more thing I am curious about in this regard. These engineers, whether they are college students or engineers,

55 feel a bit ambiguous about how to prove their abilities. This research may have its role, but there may also be things that need to be expressed within the scope of security. There are such difficulties. How do you think Seungwoo appeals his abilities to the company? I think that's how I do it . When you work at a certain company, you will encounter situations where you have to learn new technologies or require skills that are different from what you have done so far . When something like that happens, many people tend to avoid it because it's a little different from what they've been doing before, and they have to learn a new language all of a sudden or master a new career completely . But when it comes to something like that, I'll try it. Why, why not? I said, "I'll try it," and I did it, and I learned it as quickly as possible and got used to it. I learned these new things in a short period of time and did it like this . In this way, we are now showing the amount of predictions by showing the results

41 . great. Also, since you have a lot of questions, I have another question I would like to ask. Is there anything you learned the most while working at Apple? First of all, since Apple's semiconductor team is the best in the world, I was very lucky in my first job to be able to learn the workflow, know-how, and other world-class industry knowledge from this world-class semiconductor design team. So, of course, the first thing that comes to mind is what I learned. The second is that Apple is now a really systematic company, more so than any industry knowledge . Really, every little thing has a procedure and it's now very digital and systematized. Seeing that, I realized that this is how well-organized and systematic a global company is. I think that's one thing I learned. That

27 would be a really big learning experience. Well, it seems like there are some rumors going around, but Apple is known to be a very secretive company. Just from what I've heard, I've heard a lot of people say that they don't even know who's in the next department, but Mr. Suu, this is also something that can be disclosed, Apple is said to be a very secretive company, but is there really not much interaction between people in the company ? no. It's not like there's little communication or anything. yes. Rather, it is very important to have a lot of communication and cooperation . But now, there is something like that . Since security is somewhat important, when we work together, are our children and colleagues' information on this project open to the public? There is one more step to go through, such as checking if your brother has permission to view this project, which is called DiscRoger, and then talking about it . There is something like this. It's so good. Then, what I'm curious about is, as you said, Apple is one of the best companies in the world

13 . So, Seungwoo, what do you think is the reason Apple was able to rise to become the best company in the world? I think so. Working at Apple, I felt that people really love Apple products. As I did that, I felt like I was working even harder . I think that because everyone really loves the product they are working on now, they have a greater sense of ownership and are really trying to work very meticulously without missing any fine details, and that is what has brought Apple to where it is today . In some ways, one factor could be the things that allow people within the company to have pride and confidence in the company. Oh, good. Then, the next thing I'm curious about is that you 're currently working at NVIDIA. What are you doing at NVIDIA ? Yes, I'm also working at NVIDIA on their semiconductor design team now . But here,

59 unlike Apple, which is now focused on consumer products like phones or laptops, here, they are working on AI chips . So, what was the biggest thing you learned while working at NVIDIA ? I felt that although NVIDIA is a very large company, it is a company that runs very quickly and fluidly . As I was doing that, I learned that even a large company like this can move quickly and flexibly when faced with a situation or need for change, and that it is possible to run a company like this . Usually, as a company grows larger, its rigidity tends to increase, right? Yes, that's right. I think I've learned that that's not necessarily the case. Then, another thing I'm curious about is, what do you think is the secret and reason behind the company called Nvidia becoming the best company in the world? First of all, the company reflects the opinions of certain people

46 very quickly and even if it is a large project, something has to be fixed. If there is something that needs to be fixed, I think I start making changes right away without hesitation. As a result, it seems that there are definitely areas where people are working harder and things are progressing better, and another thing is that the company is currently releasing products to people, but I also know that it is always investing a lot in research . I think that part definitely helped put the video in its current position . So, next, is there any career advice that was the most impressive you’ve ever heard ? Actually, I think it was the advice I needed most rather than being impressive. I think the advice was to not just sit there and expect the company to give everything to me, but to be very proactive and

32 ask questions and tell me if there's anything you need . Because I think I also had that tendency a little bit without even realizing it. You shouldn't be so bold. I think there definitely was this tendency. But actually, in American companies, of course, it's good to be quiet, but what's better than that is to say something like, "If I did this, I did this," and get recognition, or something like that. For example, in meetings, it seems like something isn't right. When something like this happens, it's right to just talk to each other and say, "Oh, this isn't quite right ." Well, actually, that's often true. People are n't always right, as you might think. Even the people in high places are not always right, so I think that advice was really important to me . Because I originally had a rather quiet personality. In some ways, that

17 could be a process of becoming more attic within the company. Yes, that's right. you're right. And that tactic is considered very important in Silicon Valley culture. yes. that's right. that's right. Don't let the thoughts you have stay tied up in your head and just disappear. Talk about them, even if they're stupid thoughts. You wo n't die. So, tell everyone. I think that's important. If you do that, more debates can happen and it can lead to better condition . yes. that's right. And for example, out of the ten stories I told, eight of them did n't really have much significance. But it meant two things. It's beneficial anyway. Better to say something than not say anything at all. So I think it's really important to talk a lot and express yourself a lot . great. Then, another thing I'm curious about is, if Seunghoon could meet someone who is just starting out in their career, what advice would you give them? I want to understand two things. The first one is actually a

03 story about the same phenomenon I just talked about. When you first start your career, you are still young and have the lowest rank, so it is easy to become timid. If you are passive, it might be difficult for you to further demonstrate your abilities, but don't be like that. Be brave and even if your position is a little higher, it doesn't matter . Be brave and say, "I want to try this." Let's talk about it one more time. This time, I want to try something like this, or if there are colleagues around me who need something like this, I want to go help them and be more proactive. That's my first piece of advice, and my second piece of advice is to not see your colleagues as competitors, but as people who are growing together with you. Because people who have gone through intense education tend to have a strong competitive spirit . As a result, even after graduating from school and joining a company, that kind of mindset still remains, and I think that rather than competing with my colleagues, let's

49 grow together. If I do that, I will do better, others will do better, and sleep will be better, so I want to convey that part a little bit . This sounds like very good advice . Well, this is actually something I'm personally curious about. If you look at it one way, Mr. Seunghoon, both Apple and Nvidia are evaluated as very good companies, even if you just think about it based on the asset market . So what should I say? If you look at players like Messi and Ronaldo, they might think that they are playing for the best team in the world in the best league in the world, and that there is nothing more they can do, and that they might become lazy and feel that they have no more goals. But they have their own composure and have tried to continue to do well consistently. In fact, I think that even Su-hun may have entered that kind of situation, but at the moment of gaining it, it was like, ah, because there is no higher position anymore. But in that regard, I wonder how Su-hun sets his goals and what is the

34 driving force behind his daily growth. Oh, of course, I'm now working for the best company in the world, but that does n't mean I'm the best in the world. That's why, for example, the semiconductor field that I'm in is so vast and endless, and there's so much to learn that I can't even imagine, and there are so many people who are more skilled than me, so to be honest, I wonder what else I should do in the future. I've never thought about it like that. I always think, I have to study this and that, when will I study that? I thought I would do it later, but I just kept thinking that there was so much piled up in front of me. If I go further, where should I go? I've never thought about it like that . great. Then, I'm also curious about Seunghoon's daily routine. If so, what does it look like for you? What's your daily routine? yes. Actually, I guess you could say it's just an ordinary office life . Now, I wake up in the morning, go to work, and then

20 after I get off work in the afternoon, I exercise a lot. As you can see, there is now a swimming pool in front of the apartment complex, and there is a swimming pool inside the complex . So, we're using that really, really well . So after work, I always go swimming, and although it's not email, I go to the gym and work out three times a week, and after I come home and shower, I don't have much time left. At that time, I had to do a little more work, so I did a little more work and then went to sleep. yes. It's messy. Oh, then actually, this is something I'm curious about. When I interview people in Silicon Valley or San Francisco, there are so many people who are crazy about their careers. This area itself. But there are many people who say that it's not that important to miss out on that and that now is the time to pursue a career. I'm curious about

05 what Seungwoo thinks about that and how he maintains a certain level of work-life balance . Me too, yes, I think it's similar. I too am still in the early stages of my career, so I don't have that many years of experience yet, so I think I still have a lot to learn and grow quickly. So, aside from working at the company and the exercise time I mentioned earlier, I'm always looking at something. I do company-related work and things like that, even if it's not something I'm working on right now, if there's something I'm studying that might be helpful in the future, like studying something company-related, I look at that. It's the same at cafes and in other ways, and I also spend most of my time developing things related to work. But on the other hand, now I also look at life from a bit further away, especially on weekends and such. Of course, I'm

51 working hard at the company I'm working for now, but people still don't know what will happen in life. These days, people talk a lot about how the world might change because of AI, and so on weekends, I think about things like what I might do if I didn't do this job. It's so good. Then, I have another question. Actually, I think this is because I am an electrical engineer, but I feel like there is so much advice or mentors for software engineers these days, but not enough advice for hardware engineers. So, I prepared a question with a bit of my own greed in mind. In your opinion, Seunghoon, what kind of efforts do you think are necessary to become a good semiconductor design engineer? Now, I'm going to talk about semiconductor design, not the entire hardware. Because, in fact, although the semiconductor design field is somewhat hardware-related, most of the work is actually software

37 programming. So, to be exact, there are two types of programs: software programs and hardware programs. So, to explain it first, you need to have a very good understanding of computer structure. So, you have to study computer architecture very hard, and these days, there are a lot of chips coming out. I think it would be good for everyone to follow up on things like the news and the daily news . Secondly, of course, you need to be good at programming, as I mentioned earlier . This is also because in order to design a semiconductor, you have to do something called transistor logic programming, which is hardware programming in software programming. This is also commonly done now through programming languages such as Verilog or VHD, but in any case, it is also a program, and at the same time, in order to verify this semiconductor design, a software model corresponding to the chip must be created through software coding. That's why you also need to be good at software coding.

23 So, you guys also have to study programming hard. That's right. Oh, yes. It seems like there is no end to learning . Then, I'm also curious about something that you personally feel is something that you think is characteristic of people who are good at their jobs, even if it's not necessarily in the semiconductor field . Two things come to mind. First of all, I think you have to be very good at communication. So, especially now that I'm doing interim reports in Korea, I think the person who is good at it is the one who can quickly update the people who need it about the status of the work they're doing. Second, when I take on a task, I think the person who does it well is the one who really understands it deeply . What that means is, let's say you're tasked with adding some feature . That's what happens a lot when you work at a company . There are many cases where you can do a given task

08 without completely understanding its fundamentals or without understanding it deeply . As you go about your business. For example, something like this . When you are given the task of adding a feature, you often don't think deeply about why you are adding this feature and why and when this feature was mentioned . But, people who think deeply about these things and deeply understand the principles of them will not do that job, but when another task related to that job arises a few months later or a year later, other people will ask, “What should I do with this?” What is homosexuality? For those who don't know much about homosexuality, this is how you do it. Because what I did before and this one started from the same principle and the same reason . This way, I can help people around me a lot more and do my job properly . That's why I think someone who has a deep understanding of a given task is good at it.

54 Then, how do you continue to understand so deeply ? I think there might be a way to study something, like continuously throwing a "Wa" or continuously throwing a "Howl" . If something is given as you said, why would I do something like this ? I think that my way of thinking is to always question myself . If something like that happens, I think it's important to take a proactive approach and immediately go to someone who knows the person well and ask them . It's so good. Then, another thing I'm curious about is that this region is home to so many talented people. What do you personally think is the reason so many talented people have gathered in Silken Valley? Actually, this could be a chicken-and-egg problem, but there are a lot more opportunities these days, and for example, in my field, there are a lot of companies that do this kind of work in semiconductor design

39 . For example, in the past, there were only a few companies that dealt with semiconductors. We think of them as just those companies, but now, in fact, software companies and big tech companies are all dealing with semiconductors. If you look at the forecast, Microsoft, Google, and Amazon are all doing it. There are so many more opportunities like this . I think that's why people gather together naturally . Even in this semiconductor field, in the United States, even some financial institutions do semiconductor design. I think that because there are so many opportunities like this, talented people are bound to come. There are so many companies from different fields gathered in this area that that could be the reason for the room . great. So now I'm going to talk about a very simple society and a rifle story. So, what were the differences between the America that the monk had been at odds with before coming to America and the America that he actually experienced ? To be honest, my imagination about America wasn't that different from reality

26 . Because actually, I had never lived in the US before coming to the US, but most of what I had felt from traveling there a few times was similar. People tend to be a bit more laid back and a bit more like that . But that's it. My imagination about Silicon Valley and the reality were definitely different. For example, when we think of Silicon Valley, it's like that. When I think of Silicon Valley, I thought it would be filled with new, state-of-the-art buildings and everything flashy, but Manchester Master said, "Oh, it's just a rural area. There's nothing here. Do they not have carpenters?" That was definitely a lot different from what I imagined. It's one of the surprising points that more people than expected come. Yes, that's right. you're right. Then, another thing I'm curious about is that many people describe America as the land of opportunity, and there's even a term called the American Dream.

11 Why do you think America is described that way? I think there are many reasons for this. For example, in the US, when you start a business, if you fail, there are well-established social systems and infrastructures that allow you to recover . I think that point could be one reason for that . Also, if we talk about it within the company, it seems that compared to other countries, they care less about rank or age, and if someone has some ability, they listen to everything that person says, and if that person really has good performance, they promote him/her to the very top even if he/she is young. It seems that this process is a culture of meritocracy. hmm. great. So, if Seungwoo could give one piece of advice to his younger self, what would you say? Two things come to mind. First, don't give up on learning piano when you were young. Because when I was little, my mother made me

58 learn the piano for several years, but I thought it wasn't fun and gave up. But when I grow up, I think that of course, the most important thing in life is your main job, but I also think that it's important to have various other talents that you can use. I used to think that I had a bit of an arsenal of weapons and things like that, but I found that they could really enrich my life . As I think about it, the thing that comes to mind the most is how much better it would have been if I had just kept learning the piano properly instead of giving up when I was younger . So I want to tell you not to give up. Secondly, I hope you don't look at life with such fixed ideas anymore . If I were to pick a child, I think I had a somewhat foolish thought when I was young that studying too much was the answer. But now that I've grown up and met many different people around me, I've

50 come to realize that there are many ways to succeed in various fields if you have passion and put in the effort, and even luck is on your side. So, I want to talk to my younger self too. I want to say that I hope that instead of living with the somewhat rigid mindset that studying too much is the answer, we can live while enjoying the world more broadly . great. Maybe we can think about it a little more softly . So, what would you say is Seunghoon’s biggest regret in life ? Now, it 's about health. When I was in high school, I started feeling a bit unwell, so I took a year off after finishing my second year. I was feeling unwell and that's why I did that. Of course, I'm not sure why, but when I think about why I was feeling unwell, I think it might have been because of that. When I was a freshman, I just sat down and slept a lot. Now I sleep like this, sitting up, and I sleep like this, with my neck crooked, or even in the case of civil accidents, I turn off the lights when it gets dawn. Cut off the electricity. So, in order to continue studying, I went out into the cold hallway and studied. But the hallway lights were

35 on. Bang Bang is in the same mountain village, but I lie down and just start to fall asleep. Living like that, I have a strong feeling that my body has become like that . So, if you still feel some of those bad parts of your body returning, even if you work hard, always take care of your health, sleep well, and eat well. I think that's how I lived. In a way, it's an expression that says you should study smartly rather than just study hard. yes. you're right. Study smart. Oh, okay. Then, I'm also curious. When Seungwoo was young, was there something that you didn't think was important, but now that you look back, you feel like it's really important ? I think it's luck . For example, I think it's really important for people to work hard, but I also think luck is definitely important. For example, in my case,

20 when I applied to a company, if the recruiter I contacted was not the one who was really proactive and kind to applicants, but had contacted someone else, I might not have been able to get into the company I wanted. Another thing is, for example, if I hadn't been lucky enough to go abroad to study and study in such a good environment when I was young, I would n't have come here. That's why I think so. In the end, people need both hard work and luck, so what we can do is try as much as possible to increase the odds of hitting that jackpot. You have to throw as many darts as possible to increase your chances of hitting the jackpot. Right? yes. I think that's the only way we can do it . Right. great. Well, actually, there's only one question left from the prepared questions, but I 'd like to ask one or two more. This may be a very philosophical question, but are you happy now, Master ? I've thought about the topic of happiness many times. That's what I ended up thinking. In fact, I

09 couldn't come up with an answer to the question of what happiness is, and so I ended up thinking, do we really need to find that kind of happiness ? It made me think that maybe I should pursue happiness . So I do n't know if I'm happy or not, I'm just enjoying the process of living . I think that's the only way to express it . great. So lastly, Seungwoo, what do you think you will look like in 10 years ? In 10 years, I could be an engineering leader who helps and supervises many people in the company, or I could be a mentor who helps people outside the company and gives them life advice. On the other hand, I also like certain foods . I think that way, I could start a restaurant business . So what I'm trying to say is that I really like Bruce Lee's words, "Now, become water ." What I think that means is that if you

55 put water in a round cup, it becomes a circle, and if you put it in an upright cup, it becomes a triangle. Likewise, don't think of yourself as being tied to one form, but think flexibly. No matter what the situation is, no matter what happens to me, I must change and adapt accordingly. Adapt. I, too, always think about the future with an open mind . Especially in this day and age, when the world changes so quickly, I think that kind of attitude is even more important. So, if you are too hard, you want to break it. So when I think about myself in 10 years, I have a lot of options in mind. Then, this is just one more thing that I'm curious about. In this AI era, technology is actually coming out so quickly. So, I'm just curious as to how Seunghoon is keeping up with the countless rapid advances in science, engineering, and technology . hmm. Well, I think we can divide it into online and offline. Online, I find myself using LinkedIn a

41 lot these days. If you look at LinkedIn now, you'll see that wise people in each field are posting updates very frequently. Of course, you don't talk about details within the company anymore, but since you often post important things, I'm following you online through the posts on Linkdaein. Offline, this is Silk Milli. That's why I'm trying my best to meet as many different types of people as possible . So, I'm trying to meet many people and follow up with them in person to hear stories that are difficult to hear online . Just a final question, do you like science and engineering ? Science and engineering? I think I came here because I liked it. Then why do you think you like it so much ? What was it about science and engineering that you liked so much? From Suu's personal point of view. First of all, I think the process of thinking itself is very enjoyable. And when answering this question, if we narrow the scope a bit

26 to physics, I think the process of trying to explain and understand natural phenomena using formulas is really interesting and fun. So, if I think about it, I was really into physics when I was in middle school. So, during my free time, I just have fun looking at the general physics objects and thinking about them. I like that process of thinking because it is very enjoyable . Oh, this is so good. Well, I think we can wrap up the interview here, but is there anything you would like to say as a final remark ? My story may not be that great, but I think I would be really happy if my story today could be of some help to those who are listening to me in terms of their concerns or thought processes. It's so good. Actually, what made me interested in physics was the Einstein documentary. yes. But actually, while watching that, I

13 felt that the sociological aspect is very important to scientists. Because he was a scientist of an era when he was not recognized. So, uh, actually, seeing Seungwoo and listening to his story today, I really got that scientific vibe, and it felt like it had been a long time since I saw someone like that, so it was amazing, and also, I do n't have many hardware engineers to meet, and hardware itself is a much more rigid culture than software, and it's a field where you can't share knowledge freely, so it wasn't easy to meet them, but I personally think that my juniors and peers would be happy that you shared your story like this, and I think it would be nice if people would like Seungwoo's story and leave positive comments. With that in mind, I think I'll end my story. Thank you so much for appearing today and I'll see you in 10 years. Oh, yes. See you in 10 years. In 10 years I will

59 go somewhere again. oh my. I have to go underground. Oh, no. That's why I'm having a hard time. thank you I did it. yes. [music]
