0:46 episode 21 the holy digimon that turned into a digi tama which is the egg was snatched away and tai chi and yamado chased after skull nightmare meanwhile the rest of the chosen one so that are back in tokyo fight remotely with their partner digimon in the digital world so uh yeah episode 21 uh the big blue water uh tiger guy i hate him is the the digimon of the day here i don't like it did anyone else notice that he has like a baseball on it he's the orb that's nothing that's the digimon it's like his core yeah and so it collects all the water and stuff no no that was like in his like chest area on his like on the end of his tail it's a literal baseball and he like just waved it in front of where guru rinpon i was like did where mom go for it he

1:32 was like looking at it i was like are you gonna play fetch oh my god it's gonna be like dog oh also dog brain activated yeah is that what it's called that's what its name is oh yeah yeah splash monitor i don't like it i think splash one's cool because debbie mon makes him yeah it's like his like his goo yeah that's what he does with all these like frankensteins together a digimon with goo he's yucky it's flubber that's what makes david it is blubber he has power over the goo whoa yeah it really makes you think about life doesn't it yeah dude primordial soup uh so that's what's going on in the digital world and in tokyo all of the kids are trying to get together because they got brought to the real world in order to stop uh

2:18 this squid or maybe a uh calamari a calamari calamari of something that's exactly what i thought and i got hungry yeah um and we also got to see a little bit of their home life i kind of like that i like how mimi's family was like totally unfazed and then joe's brother was like oh you uh you skipped your classes for a couple of days that's pretty cool do you want to run away your brother is a g he is so cool he's he's the cool older brother he's so cool i feel like he will like address his brother as joe kiddo full name like like hey you're so you're cool after all joking oh and he's like yeah brother man yeah but i like his little to-go pack yes he's like i had this ready for you i already knew oh wow so i guess we should

3:04 just talk about the splash monster stuff then because that's all that really happens and they fight calamari oh they do fight calamari in this yeah they just like begin yeah okay we just watched titties no would make a great shantae villain yes calamariman would make a good shantae villain yeah also there she is yeah no no [Music] [Laughter] i do i don't really have much to say i don't really i don't know you know the only thing i really have to say about is that fights brutal yeah yes i said the same thing that fight is the fight in the first episode we are so yes when he's like i like it a lot the

3:50 teeth the two yeah the teeth oh my god little needles yeah like inject like sucking out his arm and you actually see them sink into his arms it felt out of nowhere oh for sure like coming back to the show it feels like it's taking so much of a turn towards like oh this is this is the same this is the same yeah yeah oh okay it's because we're getting towards the end game of the arc so they need to like ramp it up and like what better way than to have like metal grey man thrashed around to say the least i like the splash one like acts like a cat like the way that he's like grabbing him in his mouth and then shaking like yeah we see pumpkin do all this stuff yeah which makes it even more like creepy yeah yeah also so

4:36 we have talked about the weird pacing of this show before and how in the original show they don't get to the ultimate level digimon as quickly i watching this i absolutely think this show would have been so much better if they had like two episodes of them separated and then they do the tokyo arc and then tai going inside of splashmon's mouth and like opening it is when we would get metal grain on for the first time okay i think that would have worked so much better and then you would have had the team up for the first time as all champions in tokyo yeah because you never got that right yeah uh and it just it feels like the whole pacing of the show has been ruined by those five episodes they were just so yeah so formulated evolving yeah it like and it's like you have you have these great moments that almost

5:24 like it would have been cooler if that was what that was but also that little upgrade he gets i've never seen that before that was brand new and i well he watched it with me and i was like i have no i have no idea what's happening yeah like at all and it was really cool to see and uh a lot of people are pointing out that there are alternative alternative versions of the digimon called x antibody digimon and the upgrades they're getting this is probably like 2003 that these characters were like created the upgrade they're getting are actually like parts of these okay yeah yeah xbody digimon this is the only way we can show it me like you know turning over my laptop and then where guru ramon's is right here with his little yeah with a little jedi i love his spikes i love the spikes it's cool uh it's cool cool fan service

6:10 when takaru is like you know going down the hole because nobody is supervising this small china during this fight they're all just like i'm gonna watch my digimon fight instead of watching this like three-year-old who's just wondering yeah oh my god um but when he goes down to the hole and he sees the giant eye i was like why is his digivice reacting to like the weird mesh of miasma and this digimon like because his digimon wasn't anywhere near it well i feel like they uh they showed that later on when they evolve like the power that comes from their digivice like has a negative reaction to the miasma when they clear it later on here's something exciting yeah so it's like destroying it with like it's like

6:56 own energy you know this episode's just a blur to me because i completely forgot the el dorado on he was also introduced in this episode which was i like him he's cool yeah i thought it was an interesting very cool way to uh have takaru do something and it ended up feeling like he made a big impact because you know the rotting man's a big boy i like when he opens the eye i think that was pretty cool into the castle yeah that's true yeah that's true and i like uh once again that is the next episode they're all blurring to me because they all take place in like the same scene yeah so it's uh and i think this is the first time that's happened besides the tokyo fight mm-hmm when we've had multiple episodes all taking like literally four episodes straight take place in this setting so this i posted

7:41 a picture of kalamaraman to ask people uh their opinions of this episode and uh from uh loganbot3000 i'm not super into digimon and i haven't watched the show but is that mega squid from the future as well oh my god oh my god yeah no oh my appetite is gone thank you very much you don't like magazines i can't stand mega squid nasty mucus membrane [ __ ] i can't stand do you like calamariman i mean i don't really have an opinion it's hungry goddammit you you were so shocked i was just like and i'm like dude you've seen andrew woman like that's the this is your first like humanoid like digimon you've seen that's like sexualized correct andrew woman no no calamari yeah it's just like yeah i was just like

8:27 explain like excuse me i'm sorry where are the dinosaurs that's another thing that added to like this is the same show what's happening yeah yeah i feel that i feel that for sure also uh we're still taking questions but a lot of the times we already get to the things that uh you guys commented on and also other times the comments are about things that are explained in later episodes so you'll comment on episode 21 and then it's explained in episode 23 and so we can't read it in the podcast and a lot of people's comment on the same things uh so still keep sending the comments over but we're trying to not repeat ourselves as much just something about splash mon the way that splashmon fought where he would like like uh just melt yeah like you would like melt and then like reappear

9:12 i i was like dude like that's opie i thought it was frustrating yeah it's really frustrating but i mean i guess my general thoughts i do like that uh they like internalize like the miasma yeah and turn it into something like yeah to their advantage so it's like it's a to me it's better than them just evolving yeah me too yeah same because like part of me half of me expected i was like if they just go for like oh yeah like like the mega evolution i was gonna be i i was gonna be like i'm done yeah i would have been i would have been done so i'm glad that they went this round it's like and then later on when they like activate them kind of casually i like really like that that it's not a big deal like to get all the upgrades right yes yes to me it reminds me of the tokyo fight when metal greymon used his teeth

9:59 for the first time so teeth missiles it just feels like a new move is a cool way to make the end of a fight like still feel neat and cool uh without like having them evolve yeah i agree and i like it i do i think it's a neat addition to the series spicy so now episode 22. nice okay episode 22 thanks to takaru's bravery tai chi and the others found the way into the castle where the digitama is held as for the chosen ones in tokyo they were in a remote battle against calamarimon to stop an uncontrollable tanker from crashing so yeah this episode featured uh skull nightmon as the digimon of the day oh yeah [Music] and so taichi and yamado storm the

10:44 castle while they're in the park on their computers uh fighting digimon online on the internet online hell yeah that was when mimi yes yes and so this is just a great character moment because it's like mimi's anxious in the car she wants to get to the park but then like while that's happening while this tension from plot like plot point a or plot point b is happening the driver is like sitting here describing like the the like loving nature of her grandfather yeah and how like she also reflects that and so it's just this like nice little layered scene where we're learning something about her family and her and she's also like anxious about the actual plot going on it's just like that's good that's like a

11:30 like to me it kind of feels like the writers are almost mandated like i'm gonna assume to like include a new digimon every episode for them to fight yeah and so the the i'm appreciative that they find time to like at a moment like that i guess and uh i just want them to take a break oh yeah i yeah i don't think they ever will i don't think so either i really they they never will we all know i feel the same way though yeah uh hacker has to save his egg he has to jump on the blocks oh yeah dude spooky i just read the uh talker it was dumb oh my god i i mean he's a kid he's a kid he doesn't give a [ __ ] no he doesn't yeah well the way i see it is he just got there

12:15 so maybe he's not totally aware of the like danger he's a baby and he's like four and he's a little baby and it wasn't until yamato comes down to help him and he explains i saw you guys on tv like i want to be like you oh yeah like i was kind of on that same like like why is he doing this like he just got here kind of thing but yeah he's like yeah you're cool like i want to be cool like you yeah like i like that a lot i never questioned it he's just a baby and he's like this is a lot this is what i'm concerned with i'm gonna do the thing that i'm concerned with and i you know does nothing makes sense yet he's just like i'm i'm gonna try to get what i want i don't care if this thing's gonna kill me i don't that doesn't register in my brain i'm going to keep going for it he knows that he would even die you know no he doesn't know well i mean he's before he doesn't know anything either yeah there's the one point where he like

13:00 slams like a sword like his arm down into the ground and he goes move yeah yeah oh my god this little guy's savage this shot makes him look so much exactly it's so funny that made me laugh yeah also just this episode and last episode metal gray man looks so yeah there goofy some wonky shots i think in the next one too we get some wonky metal gear on as well but but gabumon being like hey i've been wanting to meet you yeah that's so sweet that oh that was so sweet he's like oh you're you're talking about so much about like over him like protecting him oh yeah i said um i said where groom on is an

13:45 excellent babysitter because like in some shots you'll see him in the background just like holding him you're good yeah good oh because like there's some softness you could say that uh that taco is a is like the catalyst for where groom on like absorbing the miasma like metal greymon does like because of tai chi because like um where guru man's like thinking back like about like what like takuru says and he's just like no like i need to i need to protect them like i need to i need to like go for it i like that like where guru gruman's like influence isn't just like yamado it's also his younger brother yeah because they're brothers yeah they're connected so it makes a lot of sense and i liked that as like a good little moment and then why the feathers like only power up yamado and taichi yeah well uh which is actually something from the

14:31 original show uh which i'll talk about in episode 24. uh in the original yeah cool skull nightmare did you yeah it's cool yeah i agree with you that was that was said that was said and then it like as soon as he pulls the string just like if i appear ghost arrow appears and just like it's funny because the the same anime that splash mods from skull nightmare is also like the like top top level henchmen of the main villain in another show oh my god yeah he knows yeah exactly he knows his type type cast he knows poor guy he just wants the people but now he has the rock so he does

15:19 um what else we got here uh bladewing spikes oh his evolution yeah did you notice like when yamado is running behind him like the original head that he has is like on his shoulder and turns around and like fires like yes sir yes yes yeah yeah that was cool it freaked me out like reaper oh my god i'm awful that's some frankenstein no thank you but we're groom on blade's blade wing spike thing so cool so cool i have to admit i don't like them flying it's weird it's weird i just like how he looks i'm like that's cool i don't like flyer flying and i don't like he has lasers like because when he first knew them what i think they what i thought they were gonna be

16:04 i thought they were gonna be like eat his jets in uh my hero and i'm like yeah i want to see where garumon is zipping around yeah like that would have been so cool yeah like and then he like fly was watching it the second time i didn't dislike it as much it just so went against my expectations okay yeah then we did get this comment and i just want to share it because the picture shared with it makes me laugh uh it says poor zodomon with where guru man's update he's the only one left incapable of flight and then just this little image of pseudomon walking there's a good guy right there yeah poor dude but he's got hops he jumps he does yeah and he has lightning so he can strike all of them flying in the air before yeah that's true if this goes by pokemon go exactly that's like when palma is

16:49 getting carried by like um what's his name the little bug by tentamon yeah and piomon oh yeah yeah but but also gomen can fly that broke me i was like swimming he's not in the air is it like it's like pokemon when like you use a fish pokemon outside of the water and it's still swimming yeah no i know i'm good i'm swimming in the air i'm so mad in the anime how like when you see goldeen for the first time it just flops around yeah like like all the games it doesn't yeah it doesn't matter yeah yeah are you just mad playing the games like no gold thing you can't do [ __ ] you're on

17:40 this was probably in relation to the uh the side team side teams mission i just love the shot of all of their champion forms blasting it's like a shot there's four of them like two on the ground two on the top like ikako yeah yeah yeah when joe and me yeah yeah yeah and they just yeah it's like it's not really animated well but they're just blast that's awesome and then oh i'll talk about that later uh yeah i just wrote down that i appreciate that his motivation is as simple as him looking up to his older brother yeah um i love that the action just always top-notch in this show yeah like they just they're so well thought out like when he puts the two blades together starts like cutting dark nightmon and then uses his foot to continue pushing yeah like it's just i mean part of what i am enjoying of

18:26 this show now is just like the action direction because i like the way the digimon look and uh i'm not disappointed to see them look cool yeah for sure i also i would like to talk about the revelation of poyomon which made me scream because i was not i was expecting a little hot dog boy but instead i get this literal egg with the face i love him so much though he's white he's a shirt i mean and then we also get the not silhouette version of devimon like you actually see him and i was like yeah oh actually there now yeah yes but like seeing him like revealed i was like

19:14 oh you have like a bandage on your leg and like a weird flame tattoo on your foot like i'm not i was more scared of people yeah of course is awful i think his reveal might be yeah his is the first thing he's so underwhelming i mean like his design like he was way scarier when he was just like full like shadows and stuff like that and i thought that was like super freaking then when you see him it's just like oh it's just like ew yes it's just not it's not scary it's just like it's like it's bad it's like wait it's just bad i also feel like at that point deviamon's not too much of a threat to them though no because he's uh yeah cause he's level like four champion yeah he's the same as greymon like regular

19:59 greymon and all them uh so like i i feel like at this point he's he evolves anyways yeah yeah like it makes sense that he wouldn't be the terrifying right we can get into italy yeah um but i do love his smile okay smile he does is real creepy and like i don't want to do this and i like that he's like my old friend and then you just like he greets him like he's this worthy adversary like this old warrior yeah it's just like an egg a war veteran i want to know more about that i hope we learn more about that i agree at some point like their relationships just like they're telling the past yeah you know the holy digimon and all that uh so sepia tone flashback yeah where's

20:45 the lore i really liked volleyball episode 23 devymond's castle collapses after the fierce battle with dark knightmon and tai chi's group comes face to face with devimon at last meanwhile the rest of the chosen ones and their partner digimon fight to destroy the obelisk that is transferring energy i mean honestly i got through that in one you did well done well done uh so yeah here we are we are we're finally fighting um mr silhouette himself uh devon and he's got claws long arms and he's controlling all the gas oh my god yucky yes we saw that dark crystal that was like observing energy from what looked like outside of the digital world yeah and then did you guys notice when he was

21:30 like talking or shrieking whatever he was doing there was like an echo it sounded like one of those old radios yes i thought yeah cool as heck what i'm thinking is that his form is like incomplete and he's unstable because he's relying on this energy and we see that like when he runs out of the energy he like just dies he can't beat them because he doesn't have enough energy yeah so that's what his pain is nightmare or whatever has to like come and like get the crystal and be like let's try one more time and then you see it flare up a little bit more so do you think that's what like his pl is like when he says my pain you will know my pain oh that was so that's why when he was attacking them and like swiping at them they like glitch out and they became like kind of unstable for like a little bit interesting that's my take

22:19 i liked it i agree i thought the voice was cool yeah it started happening i was like oh this is interesting this is adding a new layer on to whatever's like the relationship to the energy yeah like it makes them once again feel physical more like they're inside of a video game yeah it's like a walkie-talkie voice yeah yeah and like you they make you like conceptualize the amount of energy and data it would require to like sustain a living creature right yeah uh and so that's that's that's really i do really like that a lot um also devymond is a very video game like boss battle i feel like oh yeah yeah yeah him using like the mist and all that yeah i when he went down i was like there's no way that this is over yeah this guy has been here literally since the beginning and i felt like that

23:05 was way too easy so i don't want to say i was happy when he was like revived but i was like okay yeah here we go this starts this makes a lot more sense and i'm glad that this is continuing so the victory can feel a lot more earned but also he doesn't bring him back until the end of the episode he evolves before from just power from yeah from the real world that's right that's right he like chooses to do it right in the progression of the fight too it's not like they started to win and then he evolved it was already they were kind of right exactly and then he evolved again which i also kind of liked because it's not just like uh once again this show does it a lot so it's not i'm not saying they don't do this i'm just saying i appreciate the fight not being solely determined by an evolution amen yes absolutely and also i once again just smart direction it's like oh we have this digimon nerds are going to complain

23:51 that it's a lower level digimon like well why can't it still like put up a fight yeah and this they did the same thing with eisemann in the tokyo thing and they're doing the same thing with devi mon here where he has like essentially a weapon that makes him overpowered right uh so i appreciate that as well and also i have only ever seen neo devi mon's like official art image i've never seen him in anything uh-huh so like i knew about him and seeing him emotion was pretty cool he's way better than debby man that's for yeah yeah because of like the the six like eyes on the mask but like the eyes are bloodshot yeah so they like look even like creepier to me for that reason and they were flashing yeah or like when they were flashing like where indicating like thought and stuff it's like it's cool yeah because like where room i was like coming up like to attack him from behind the eyes flash and then you

24:37 just it just cuts to like him like like grabbing wear groove on and then like throwing it on the ground oh so oh my god the just once again complimenting the action direction of pumpkin stock stinky mom what are you doing he's doing okay can you grab that stinky no there he goes he's good he did a maneuver i thought it was cool that he like kind of snapped away there like attacks like [Music] very angry and frustrated but i'm i'm glad he wasn't just standing there though make sure that like it doesn't hurt oh there's stinky man uh stinky mon you

25:22 want to say anything i may be stinky but stinky is as stinky does excellent oh my gosh perfect really just putting us to shame what was i saying who knows this is all that matters really that's true talking about dink dink oh yeah the d he has to do something to make it dink um what the dink and then i once again just to compliment the action direction just how beautifully simple the the arc of motion is with that where guru month yeah it just it's amazing how like something so simple can make like communicate it's just good i like it um also i just want to just once again not allow them to go with another winged

26:07 digimon without me saying hey hey watch it like they do so well to animate the physicality of all of the digimon and their tails and like the different body parts that you wouldn't normally have to animate but then once they get to wings they're like [Laughter] yeah it is so like it's so disappointing because like i wrote down that like in the world of movies and tv wings are one of like in in the natural history wings flapping is one of the most rhythmic elegant movements capable of so like something living is capable of making and you can make that intimidating or beautiful and it's so disappointing every single time there's a digimon with wings they're just like

26:53 here we are this project is so right this is so good it's like you can do it you just have to do it same energy as that that means the guy who's just like standing there with his hands like this and his like weird polo and white shorts you know you had to do it to them no they didn't tell them they did it to them stinky should we talk about the uh the other parties fight yeah the other part of my party's fight was this was an arc like an episode arc that should have been resolved in one episode i agree wholeheartedly uh but just because of the action happening in the digital world they had to drag it out so like i i know some people were saying they got pushed to the side but truthfully i thought the story with them was more interesting than the stuff going on in the digital world absolutely

27:38 because the stuff in the digital worlds with the video game is they just got to go beat the bad guy essentially and yeah there are like steps they have to do that make them more intricate yeah little boats are getting crushed by oh my god i wrote they're out of control i wrote down that boat exploded people died yeah like yeah like there's a real world consequences yeah and i'm telling you a different show and they don't they don't like hesitate to say the united states and iran have like military tensions yeah like and like i feel like american kids shows would never even mention that you know and it's cool it's just it makes it once again feel real yeah um and then i just do like i'm a big fan of the return of the jedi style dual objective fight where like they have to complete their objective in

28:24 point a so point b can complete their objective uh i just it just makes things interesting it works so people use it a lot um and i really liked the moment when neo when it got destroyed and neo devon started like fleeing from them it's just satisfying to see the op villain be like oh yeah yeah like oh [ __ ] wait a minute hold up yeah um but then of course they do blast him he does he dies he's three five he is revived that calm arm on a sneak attack was pretty cool oh yeah i like the camouflage because once again just being thinking about the digimon we're just thinking about the animal they're like trying to use it on yeah that's cool yeah it is it's just they're they're thinking it's amazing they're not just like okay where does this one

29:09 blast lasers out but then they you know all that little good will they just got with that little move they ruined when uh hornbuster turns into a laser um yeah that would have rained me out the first time i watched it because i always thought it was like a physical hammer it's like a yeah yeah like yeah like like zunaman's like hammer yeah and and then it turned into a laser and then so like it was like flower cannon uh with lilymon and then what what is the what is the bird's name bergeron yeah that yeah not to be for not to be confused with guardraman oh i'm i'm tired and so like you know three lasers and

29:54 then zootomon comes in with the hammer and destroys like the the tower i was like that was yeah the obelisk what a word the tormentor what does that name mean i don't know i don't know or is he the tormentor i don't know i don't know he torments the obelisks yes oh my god he would i'm tired oh my god and uh i had a really good segway and it has been lost i was trying to find questions a lot of people wrote about episode 24. good as they should oh but you know what i'm gonna give them a pass on not animating some things well because i think the animators were busy working on the next episode episode episode 24.

30:40 yeah buddy thanks to kosheros group destroying the obelisk which was transferring energy to the digital world tai chi and the others defeated neo devon at last however tai chi struggles against the overwhelming powers of dun devi man a mega digimon first of all perfect name because i'm done too i thought that defeat of neo devi was so like this worked it did and then just i i hate the bait and switch like we won no you didn't yeah i that's this entire show yeah i know i know but like they it bothers me when somebody has something right in front of them and they don't take it so like i think the kids destroying the tower should have co-interrupted his evolution which would have made the crazy like

31:25 corrupted aspect make more sense and then it would have tied into the little radio voice we heard earlier but you know the whole show is just kidding but also not not a lot of the villain fights have been that so far besides the tokyo one yeah and so the villains didn't really evolve like a lot in the original show and i don't mind it so much here but i don't love fights that last for three or four hours yeah me neither and i mean i guess this only lasted for two but the fact that it was all in the same setting yeah it feels like the same thing yeah it feels very long it does it feels very long and drawn out but this one yeah oh my goodness a lot a lot oh my god um first dunder mine is brand new okay i didn't know that this before um devon has another not crazy

32:12 things marvel and then they decided to do all these crossovers and just so happened stitch and velma uh venom got in the same room velma stitch and velma stitch and venom got in the same room together and decided to workshop a character and that's done damn they did a good job and stitch voices have we noticed that his intelligence level goes down with every evolution like in the beginning he's a very like eloquent and articulate and then by the end when he's done everyone he's just shrieking and doing he's like feral yeah i think that's what makes him even more scary yeah yeah because he's an interesting choice he's losing control yeah it's like he's

32:57 losing his intelligence in order to just gain power yeah which explains why he isn't there already right yeah sense of self yeah and also he didn't elect to do that himself it was a forced evolution yeah somebody did on to him he's goo he has goo arms and he came from he had goo arms he has guns b so then this episode gets crazy crazy this episode gets [ __ ] nuts like it just doesn't let up what is the first event that is like for me mine was when he has yamato in where he is and he chucks them straight into the grass my jaw dropped i was i was shocked i saw

33:45 that happen i was so shocked i was like i again this is the same show these are you just killed a child it's just like it's like of course the villain would do that but you just don't expect it from a kid's show exactly it was so intense yeah i think before that is when i thought it was like oh this is like a big deal because um it was tai chi and yamada on top of like metal gray man's head and then uh like uh dunderman's like miasma arms yeah the goo aren't they yeah the goo arms were gonna like uh like grab them and then taiji just goes oh and just pushes yamada remembers rumors yeah on the ground yeah you got something he's like yeah he has to watch over this child yeah yeah
