Intro

The reviewer introduces the topic of the video: the Digimon movie released by Fox Kids. Growing up, the reviewer watched animes like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon on WB Kids and Digimon on Fox Kids. The Digimon movie is based on the tomagotchi-like game that has an anime series, card games and video games. The reviewer mentions that the Digimon movie is actually a combination of three separate movies. The review will cover the original Fox Kids edit and the newer Blu-ray release that separates the three movies.

Fox Kids Edit

The Fox Kids edit of the Digimon movie combines three separate movies into one package, featuring pop music, strange editing choices, and Angela Lansbury in an animated short at the beginning. This short is described as having bad animation and being a strange way to start the movie. Following the short is the "Digi Rap," a product of the early 2000s trend of including poppy rap music in kids' animated movies. The lyrics are cringeworthy, involving adding "digi" to various words.

Digimon Adventure

The first part of the movie, "Digimon Adventure," was created by Toei Animation before the first Digimon series. It shows Kari, the eighth DigiDestined, encountering a Digi-Egg that hatches into Koromon. Simultaneously, Willis in America receives his own Digi-Egg. The movie includes humorous moments, such as Tai's mom being portrayed as a health nut. During a nighttime scene, Koromon evolves into Agumon, who is much larger than in the original series. Agumon and Kari go through the city, causing destruction and encountering a sleeping truck driver. Eventually, a giant Digi-Egg hatches into Parrotmon, who battles Agumon, who evolves into Greymon. Greymon defeats Parrotmon but disappears, and it's clarified that this Koromon and Greymon are not the same ones from the main series.

Our War Game!

"Our War Game!" takes place about a year after the original Digimon series and focuses on Tai and Izzy trying to stop a Digi-Egg that hatched on the internet due to Willis's attempt to create a Digimon. The movie highlights how the DigiDestined are separated, with Tai struggling to get everyone to help. Matt and T.K. are visiting their grandmother, Sora is mad at Tai, Mimi is in Hawaii, and Joe is taking an entrance exam. Izzy discovers that the evil Digimon is consuming code and causing issues. Gennai and the Digimon contact Tai and Izzy, offering help through their Digivices. Agumon and Tentomon try to stop the Digimon but fail and evolve into Greymon and Kabuterimon. The evil Digimon digivolves, bypassing the ultimate form, and attacks Greymon and Kabuterimon mid-evolution.

Our War Game! Continued

Everyone can see the Digimon battle and emails Tai and Izzy, which frustrates Tai. Tai's mom feeds Izzy bacon milkshakes and health food. Matt and T.K. are contacted and join the fight. The evil Digimon reaches America, accompanied by random music. Gabumon and Patamon join the battle, and Tai and Matt digivolve their Digimon into WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon. The evil Digimon warp digivolves into its mega form and attacks Patamon and Tentomon. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon are initially defeated due to the overwhelming number of emails slowing their connection. Tai blue screens the computer, and they reboot it. Tai and Matt's connection allows Agumon and Gabumon to come through the computer screens and transform into Omnimon, who stops the evil Digimon from launching a nuke. Sora forgives Tai at the end. The reviewer expresses frustration that Kari and Sora were not more involved in the movie.

Hurricane Touchdown

"Hurricane Touchdown" requires explaining Digimon Adventure 2 and Willis's background. Digimon Adventure 2 features a new group of DigiDestined who use Digi-Armor due to dark towers blocking normal Digivolution. Willis had his twin Digimon before the original DigiDestined went to the digital world, but his Digimon are still in their baby form by the time of the first movie. A virus infected one of his Digimon, Kokomon, making him evil. T.K. and Kari are in America, while the main DigiDestined cast are in Japan. They encounter Willis, who is being attacked by Kokomon and Terriermon. The other DigiDestined join them in America.

Hurricane Touchdown Continued

Kari and T.K. are attacked by Kokomon on a train. Willis and Terriermon meet the DigiDestined, and Davis becomes infatuated with Kari. Davis and Willis argue but end up stranded together. There's a scene where Davis gets emotional about Willis and his Digimon breaking up. The armor evolutions are shown, with Davis and Willis riding on Rapidmon. The reviewer notes the licensed music and compares the movie to other anime movies like Yu-Gi-Oh's Pyramid of Light and the first Pokemon movie. The three main DigiDestined end up at the flower field where Kokomon was infected.

Hurricane Touchdown Finale

The DigiDestined battle, with Hawkmon turning into Shurimon and Armadillomon digivolving into Digmon. Shurimon turns everyone into kids, preventing them from digivolving. Kari and T.K. arrive with Angemon and Angewomon, saving the Digimon. The mega evolutions of Patamon and Angemon are shown. Terriermon and V-mon use golden armor energize. They destroy Kokomon from the inside, destroying the virus. Kokomon's egg washes up on the beach, symbolizing reincarnation.

Final Thoughts

The Digimon movie is an interesting experimental piece of media, and the connecting plotline with Willis is fitting. The animation by Toei Animation is fantastic, although "Hurricane Touchdown" feels tacked on. The first movie shows where Digimon was going before the anime came out, and "Our War Game!" is fun. The reviewer hints at a sequel video.

0:00 You know, growing up, there was two channels I watched a lot growing up. It was WB Kids and Fox Kids. And and between those two, I got some of my favorite animes of all time. I got to watch Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon on WB Kids. And then on the other hand, Fox Kids gave me well Digimon Digimon Digimon. Digimon Digimon digital monsters. Digimon are the champions. Digimon digital monsters. Digimon are the champions. Change into digital champions to save the digital

0:46 world. So what is Digimon? Digimon is a tomagotchi like game that has a anime series card game anime series a different card game video game video game video game and another card game and another and another. Hey uh Digibod creators, how about you just do good on the first one and then we'll talk about you guys getting like four different card games. think I talked about this. I think I did or I was thinking about talking about. Either way, Digimon is a great series and I grew up with it. And of course, today's subject, we're talking about the Digimon, the movie that Fox Kids put out when I was really young. Like, this

1:32 thing is really old. Now, don't get me wrong. Sorry. H I want to talk about the original Digimon, and I will, but right now, let's just talk about the movie. This is a two-part review. Part one is talking about the actual f the uh Fox Kids uh edit of the movie. Then we're going to be talking about the newest Blu-ray that came out that has the three movies separated into one. Yes, the Digimon movie is technically a total of three movies jammed into one package combined with 2,000 pop music, weird editing decisions, combining all three plots together despite being three separate movies, and at the same time, for some

2:18 reason, um, putting Angela Lansberry as an animated short at the beginning of the movie to get you kind of hyped for both Digimon the Movie And oddly enough, Angela Lansberry. If no one knows what I'm talking about, don't look it up. It's very bad animation, very bad time. And yeah, that's how the movie starts with a weird like five minute Angela Lansbury short about them going to see the Digimon movie. H, it's okay. Kind of cute. If you like that series, I don't. Not very good. Not a fan. No. No. No. No. I don't want it. No. No. Uh then we get the Digimon rap.

3:04 Yes. Uh at the time early 2000 kids anime and just animated movies in general thought it was uh great to have a poppy rap music. So we got the Digi Rap. Yeah. No, it's a very product of a time. And may I read you some poetry from the lyrics of a song? All the digi dudes will dig roll and digitude. Digi. Yeah. Basically, anytime they're talking about they just threw digi in front of a

3:49 bunch of words and uh Yeah. No, it's it's as cringe as it sounds. Listen, I love the Digiva rap, but it is very cringe even for its time. Okay, now let's actually get into the first part of this Digimon Adventures beginning. So, part one of this movie is just called Digimon Adventures. Now, we need to talk about that this technically was made by Tolli Animation and came out prior to the first Digimon series actually coming out. So this was a bit of a hey this is kind of what Digimon is going to turn into. So it's interesting to see. And of course the movie starts out by having Kari the eighth Digid Destin or the fifth Digid Destin

4:36 depending on how you want to look at the uh animes. she uh you know she's one navigating and she's telling us that um as she was a young girl looking at the computer boom as uh Digi Egg comes out of the computer and her and Tai have to take care of this random Digi Egg that came out of the computer and we're told at the same time that the main character Willis at the same time got his Digi eggs in America. Willis is going to be important for our third part of the movie. Technically, this movie makes him very important in the second part as well, but just tuck the little nugget of knowledge that Willis is important. Now, as we go through this adventure, eventually the Digi Egg hatches

5:23 and uh you know, it turns into I never remember what this little cat guy is called, but eventually he also evolves into Coraman. And I c I would hate to be dismissed if I don't mention the little adorable scene as uh they're underneath the bed and uh you know little uh catmon thing uh whatever it's called uh starts doing a Digimon theme song and then Ki who we kind of understand didn't talk a whole lot at that age and mostly communicated by blowing her whistle uh they were doing like the little Digimon on theme song is blowing and using bubbles and it was like

6:10 like a little adorable thing. Um, but of course after uh and also I have to say this American version is really funny about making Tai's mother like a health nut. um like as they're hiding uh Cororaman from her his mom and that uh they're hiding um the fact like they uh say that uh sounds like mom's making tuna tuna sticks and it's like what are tuna sticks but don't worry sounds like she heard of it and it's like just a funny little moments like that this movie does cuz like it makes like Tai's mom kind of seem like she's a nut health person kind of uh kind of like a health nut and all that which is pretty funny. And mysteriously, Tai's father is not

6:56 here at all. So maybe Tai's father's not around or he's just a standard businessman who doesn't have a lot of time to be home. If you know Japanese culture, you know Japanese culture. Dads, you're usually not around as much. Um, and then also I would be remiss not to add about the fascinating part with American music as Corammon is viciously attacked by the cat. Yeah. Uh, this movie has some weird decisions in it. Um, but of course, the main crux starts out at nighttime after Corammon eventually evolves into Agamon. And Auggamon in this is tall. In the original anime series, Agamon's probably roughly up to Tai's shoulders most of the time. But yeah, in this one, uh,

7:44 it's giant. like it is two uh like it is taller than two bunk beds together. So that's pretty crazy. And uh as Agamon breaks the window, uh Cory jumps on and off they go. And then Tai chases after him, which like man, how is Tai's mom not like worried sick like noticing, hey, my daughter's gone and also my son just ran out the front door. uh uh you know, hey, it's a kids anime. Just ignore the actual parental stuff on that one. But uh after you know as uh Kari and Agamon go throughout the city they kind of you know uh destroy a soda machine almost get hit by a truck

8:29 and they have this hilarious moment which I'm going to spoil happens in both uh this version and the newer edition where a truck almost the guy the I guess there's two guys in a truck and the one guy goes did you see that thing? No, I didn't see it. I was sleeping. But you are driving. It's such a small thing, but it's actually really funny to hear out loud. Uh just the idea that this is supposed to be uh but no, like uh it's pretty funny just to hear a small little stuff like that showing that there is a little bit of humor in there for some adults. Um, but of course the big thing is all of a sudden the uh giant digi egg above the city forms and hatches into Paraton.

9:16 And uh yeah, no. Uh that's not good. Paramond shows up and uh Agamon, who's already been trying to shoot down some Blackhawk helicopters or whatever they are, um uh is uh is attacked by or tries to attack Parrotmon who's not happy about it. and basically destroys Agamon. Um, of course, Auggamon trying to protect the kids evolves into Greymon. Uh, to be honest, like it's beyond of all the original Digimon. Huge fan of the whole Agamon the Greyman Greymon line. Uh, really a big fan of them. And so I'm happy to see that uh they chose Tai and Greymon. I I guess it kind of

10:01 makes sense since like Ki's a sister and maybe Matt and TK would have worked as well here. But honestly, I'm really happy that we got to uh see just this really awesome scene with Greymon evolving and Ty is like, "Who are you?" And Graymon, who's definitely not voiced by the original Greymon voice actor, just goes, "I'm Gmon now." And I'm just like, "Okay." Uh but no, like honestly I really love this series uh this movie. I mean this is really good. Uh they then have a battle and uh the dub, you know, now seeing the new movie, it's so hard not to mention this. I don't know if you noticed too well, but like the first

10:47 time Greymon attacks the Paramond, he blows his wing off, which if you watch Digimon growing up, you know for a fact damage on Digimon really didn't show up more than just the Pokemon or the Digimon, I mean, sorry, Digimon, Digimon, Digimon. Uh, the Digimon was actually more um, you know, just kind of scruffed up. Didn't really show damage damage. No, Parammon just lost a wing. And of course, uh, Parammon gets one up on Greymon and almost, you know, knocks him out and everything. And, uh, Kari and Tai are trying to wake him up. Um, and the thing is you got to remember is, uh, in this movie, it shows very early that Tai can only be woke up by one thing, and that is Ki using her whistle

11:34 to wake him up. So, when it gets to the uh part where they're trying to wake up Greymon, um Ki is trying to blow her whistle, but she's she's crying so badly and that this is really disgusting snot looking part where uh and she blows her whistle and then all of a sudden a Greymon just wakes up and like use Nova Blaster and completely annihilates both Parammon and himself. And then when everything comes back too, they're just staying in the middle of the city with the destroyed bridge and Greymon is completely gone along with Parrotmon. Um, one thing they do clarify at the end of this movie is or this part of the movie that they clarify that this is not

12:21 the Corammon and Greymon that we know from the main series. Okay, so that's interesting. It's weird that, you know, if I had a nickel for every time Tai got a Cororamon, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a whole lot, but it's weird. It's happened twice. Um, and this is part, now mind you, this happens when Tai and Ki are very young, and this happens before the events of the original anime. So, we need to keep that in mind. Now, we're going to go into part two, our war games. Now, on to part two, our War Games. My favorite section of this movie, just because of how awesome this thing is all together. Now, our War Games takes place probably about a year or so after the

13:06 events of the original Digimon series itself and features mostly uh Tai and Izzy trying to uh stop a Digi Egg that hatched on the internet, which we find out was actually because of Willis. Willis wanted to create another Digimon cuz he wanted another Digimon to play with him and his twin Digimon. So, because he's smart, he tried to create a third Digimon on the web. And unfortunately, it got infected with a virus and it became the e evil Digimon who tries to terrorize the world. At least that's how the movie explains it. And basically, uh, this movie is really interesting because it shows you just how much torn apart all the Digi Destin are at this

13:53 point in the series because like, you know, they were forced together in the original Digimon show because they were at summer camp and then they were thrown into the digital world pretty much. Here, this time around, they're all separated. And it's kind of a big joke about it is is Tai trying to get a hold of everyone throughout the movie and try to make them uh help fight uh this new Digimon. So in short, let's do a rundown of the original Digimon cast and where they are and how much they help in the movie. Tai is obviously there throughout the entire thing and pretty much is the one trying to throw everyone everything together. Izzy is there as well basically the entire time other than like one or twi two times that he disappears. Um Matt and TK are visiting their

14:40 grandmother in a remote part of Japan and it takes them a little while but they do end up helping in the finale and trust me if you know you know. Um Sora is mad at Tai. That's one thing we have a pretty we're definitively told. Apparently, Tai got her a hair tie and uh it was one of those things where it's like, "Oh, you don't like my hat?" And I guess they have a big argument. And spoiler, it doesn't get better in the actual three torn apart movie. Sora's reasons for being a uh Tai is kind of ridiculous. And I guess you could say it's No. Nope. Nope. I'm a guy. I'm not even saying it. Not even making that joke. Nope. Nope. Nope. Uh, let's just

15:25 say Sora not being in the movie more than walking around on Mopi because Tai's not talking to her, but she's not talking to him. She's It's foolish and it's kind of silly. Um, Mimi is in Hawaii, so she is of no hope. And there's this hilarious scene during the main thing where he's trying to call everyone and he's like, "Oh, where? I can't get a hold of Mimi." And his mom goes, "Oh, you got a postcard from Mimi." And it's just like uh it's just her and Hawaii going I wish you were here and like it ties like some of the facial animation they did here cuz this is Towi animation again and they really got a good way of drawing Digimon here. Like I love the original animation style but like Towi really knew what they were

16:12 doing with Digimon animation back in the day. Um Joe the entire time is trying to take a test. Uh now in this they tell it's a test but anybody who knows Japan, you know it's an entrance exam. So it's kind of funny that they have to kind of put a band-aid on a solution because they don't want you to know that uh you know Japan's Japan. And even though she shows up right at the beginning and she narrates this entire event, uh Ki is going to a friend's birthday party and is basically missing an action most of this. Uh and of course, you know, that's the funny thing. It's like uh cuz Tai is constantly trying to get more people to his house to try to defeat the evil Digimon and just no one is cooperating.

16:58 And now we can actually get into a bit of the plot because we I wanted to lay out where all the original Digiidescent and obviously season two Digid Destin don't really matter here because they don't have Digivic. They don't have any of that stuff yet. It's just not quite as important quite yet. So, let's actually get into the main crux of this. Um, so as I said, after Cari goes off to the birthday party, the beginning of the movie, uh, Izzy shows up and saying the eggs hatched. There's this hilarious egg that part Gag's beginning where at the time Tai's holding an egg in his hand and he just kind of looks over and he goes and he's like, "Ah, not that egg." And basically they find out that there was a evil Digimon attached and it's

17:43 eating up a lot of line and code and it's causing all kinds of issues. the Digimon. Now, one thing we kind of figure out, this Digimon is trying to find something or somebody. Um, and of course, it's not hard to figure out what they're what they're trying to find. And very quickly, uh, as they're trying to shut it down and everything, they're contacted by the actual Digimon and Jedi. Uh, for those un accustomed, Jedi is a young gentle, older gentleman. He does become young. uh somehow he deagages in season two of Digimon Adventures. Uh it's kind of weird. Uh but Jedi and the Digimon uh contact them and basically they by using their Digi vices they can help them fight the evil Digimon on the web and

18:30 this hilarious thing is Jedi is this old man and he goes my modem's as old as I am. I don't know why. I don't know. Maybe it's just because I'm such a I love Digimon too much and that's kind of why I laugh at little stuff like that. But uh as this as it keep we keep basically get into it. Uh Agamon and Tenton show up and try to stop the evil Digimon by sneak attacking them and it doesn't work and they have to evolve into their champion forms Greymon and Karimmon and uh as they attack it and it works at first until it digolves. Now, when it dig evolves, they think that it just turned into a champion form, but it actually bypassed the ultimate form.

19:16 Now, Warp Evolution has always been a thing within the Digimon series, but it's always been it's got to be a rookie form straight to the mega. It's never rookie up to an ultimate. It's never worked that way, or at least at least growing up the way I did, it never worked that way. So, um this completely throws Izzy and Tai off. So they decide that they need to dig evolve into their ultimate forms. But as both them are digivolving, uh the the Digimon attacks them in battle and like in mid-evolution, which is never like we've always kind of understood transformation scenes and stuff is like in like not in real time, but it's just like usually a flash of light and everything and then boom, they

20:01 evolved. But for us, it's this transformation sequence with the iconic Digimon theme song going DG man, DJ Busters, you know, but that's not what happens here. Uh, halfway through the evolution, they're attacked. And I love the kind of animation they did for this cuz like it shows like that a still of them in the animation, but then getting attacked halfway through. So, it shows like he straight up did stop them mid evolution. And that's interesting because the entire time like for some reason everybody can see the their Digimon battling and can somehow email them about it. And like one thing that kind of happens is Tai and Izzy almost get into a big fight during this because like Izzy's reading off emails and it

20:47 frustrates Tai because like they're already having enough problems without being like backseat Digimon battled. So, it's kind of rough and every and it's interesting just to see uh how, you know, throughout the entire time, you know, Tai and Izzy are trying to work together, but also they're getting frustrated with one another because Tai is just too, you know, he's too of a like rough and everything and he a few times knocks the computer out and you know, Izzy is just frust you know, Izzy is just trying to keep Tai informed of what the emails and all that are saying. Oh, on top of that, the entire time uh uh uh they Tai's mom is giving Izzy bacon milkshakes and health food and

21:32 everything. And trust me, that's a relevant plot point. It's a it's a so eventually uh the phone lines go down and they have to do like this weird phone tag system and through that they eventually get hold of Matt and TK and they tell and they get them to you know go riding the town and get into there and of course we have another uh as the evil Digimon gets to America we have another uh fantastic not Digimon at all soundtrack track if I didn't have to worry about. I mean, it's just hilarious how much they just threw like random songs in here. Like, I get Kids of America, but some of the music they chose here just is kind of not

22:17 fitting at all. And it's kind of funny. Uh, but as it gets it, as we get closer to the action, eventually, uh, Gavamon and Potamon show up and it's time to go fight one more time. Um, this time around instead of messing around, Tai and Matt straight up dig evolve uh their Digimon into their two mega forms of War Greymon and Metal Gurumon. And you know, uh, of course, as they're about to evolve, Potamon is about to evolve into Anjamon. And if you don't understand, Anjamon is like the most powerful champion the original Digi Destin had that and Antoan. And um like right away uh the evil Digimon warp digivolves itself into its mega form and

23:03 attacks Poton and Tentimon and uh yeah straight up almost kills Poton what during its evolution and um of course you have Matt and Tai uh come in with War Gmon and Metal Guruon and try to completely uh stop you know stop the e stop the uh Sarafhon from whatever it's called Rafam on uh oh I can't remember what man literally watched this the other day I can't think about but uh they destroy the they try to destroy the evil Digimon but get completely humiliated and it's mostly because so many emails are coming in so quickly that it's slowing down the connection they have to the Digi Destin and through that it completely stops them and shuts

23:48 them down to an extent and of course that's when Tai blue screens the computer and they have to reboot it. Um, of course, as they keep going, uh, you know, Tai and Matt's connection with Agamon and Guru, uh, Govamon are so strong that they actually come through the computer screens and actually can get to their mega uh, mega Pokemon or Digimon. Oh, mega Digimon. And actually, they trans they are able to use the power of all the kids emailing them, their hopes, dreams, and desires and turns into the best damn Digimon of all time, Omnimon. I mean, it two mega evolutions, DNA evolving into one uh Pokemon, Digimon, I

24:34 mean, is so damn cool. And that's the thing is I keep making Pokemon because Digimon did it first. Mega Evolution. Digimon did it first. And but no. Uh so yeah, it's funny because uh yeah, so they do this and they're about to fight him. And the and the thing is this entire time the evil Digimon's been cloning himself and he has a timer, a 10-minute timer. And the timer is for a nuke that we don't know where uh a nuke trying to attack Willis, his original trainer or developer, I guess. Um now they do stop him with seconds to spare and they basically destroy him and

25:20 save the day. Now, I I would be remiss not to mention the fact that at the end of the at the very end of the thing, Sor forgives Tai. It's kind of a little late. You could have helped up Shuner. Uh I'm sure uh you know, [ __ ] would have been a lot of help here, but okay. Yeah, go on your arc queen. Do do your thing. Um, and that that's the thing is uh the frustrating thing is there's two Digi Dustin who should have been here. And I'm sorry, Kari and Sora are very much were not of no help in this movie. I know it's important just to show how separated the gang are, but ah it's so frustrating that those two they like Joe

26:06 in an exams, he has no phone. Understandable. Mimi in Hawaii. Fine. no sense at all why Kari and Sora just weren't there, you know. And with Kari, he didn't even say Gotamon needs you. She would have been there in a second. The fact that Tai didn't say that is really silly. What's great about this movie is the fact that Omnimon is such a fudging cool Digimon. Like he is so damn cool. He I mean and and the thing is I don't think Digimon ever really got past as something as cool as that. Um there there's been cool Digimon since then, but nothing as cool as Omnimon. Like it's so awesome. And h sorry I'm just

26:55 gushing at this point. Now I want to say something pretty funny. A few years ago, I went to something called Techacon, and they had the original people who uh they had one of the guys who was like the director of Digimon Adventures 1, 2, and this movie. And the funniest thing is when he talked about this movie, there was so much bitterness in his voice. And it's because when he wanted to make this movie, he only wanted to put part one and part two here. The third part that we're going to start talking about, he had no desire. He wanted it to end here. And let's be honest, this is a fantastic place to stop. I mean, Omnimon is such a peak part of this movie. And I'll be

27:41 honest, I don't think they quite get there with Hurricane Touchdown. So, let's get into the third part of review. Hurricane Touchdown. Where do I even start with this one? It's I have to explain Avengers season two or Adventures uh Digimon Adventure 2. I have to explain a lot about Willis. I have to There's so much to explain before we can even get into talking about this movie. Well, let's address the difference between Digimon Adventures 1 and two. Digimon Adventures 1 dealt with the original eight Digid Destin and their journey on trying to save the digital world and then it ends. Digimon Adventures 2 takes place several years later and deals with a entirely

28:27 different group of Digi Destin who have to use Digi Armor because of dark towers in the digital world that are blocking out the ability for Digimon to Digivolve. So Vimon, Hawkmon, and Armadillon all have to use Digi Armor uh Digi Eggs basically based off the crest from the ultimate forms of the original Digimon series. um such as Flame Drammon, the flame of courage and that kind of stuff. And that's the main reason even Potamon and Godamon can't naturally evolve into Anjamon and Anjouan right away. At least not in the digital world. They can't. Also, this time around, the Digidestin can freely go between the real world and the digital world at any time they want.

29:13 Now, it's no longer, oh yeah, you're stuck here for a while. Now it's they can kind of go and go as they want. It's because the new D2 Digi devices they have which are pretty neat. Um and also they look a lot cooler. Don't get me wrong, I I like the original Digi devices, but these are much cooler. Now let's get into Willis. I don't like them. Willis is one of those kind of characters who shows up and you know, first of all, we understand the following about Willis. Step one, he got his twin Digimon, which hatched from the same egg at the same time that the original cast was dealing with the Cororamon and Paramon Parromon

29:59 thing. meaning eight years before this movie takes place, which means Willis was in America with his two Digimon before the Digi Destiny even went to the digital world in the first place. Second of all, he's had his Digimon all that time. And by the time that we get to the first movie, which is after the original Digimon Adventures, his Digimon are still in their baby form. So that means he's not a very good Digi Destin. And then the virus from that they destroyed in that in the se in the first uh second movie here infected Cookoman one of his two Digimon and in made him evil. You're a bad digestin dude. Also,

30:45 apparently he uh and and apparently he's been like trying to chase after Pokemon and get him back and Terrimon, which is interesting to see here because Digimon Tamers, one of the three main characters in that has a Terriermon as his primary Digimon. So for many people, the first time they saw a Terrimon was here, which is interesting. It's very interesting to say the least. Um, so let's kind of lay out where everyone's at. Uh TK and Kari, now much older, are in uh America for some reason. We never really get a good explanation why these two are in America by themselves. And then of course the main Digi Destin cast are all in Japan having a beach day.

31:31 That's when they come across Willis who's being attacked by attacked by Cookon and Ter, you know, and they're doing this big terrier. Oh, and we got the license music going again. That's a big thing. Licensed music just jump scares you here. You can never react to this thing on YouTube or somewhere because like the licensed music would absolutely shred your video the part. How dare you? Four Kids America. You don't exist anymore. Fox Kids. I mean, Fox Kids. Four kids did other stuff. But I'm sure if they could, they put their finger in this pie, too, and ruin it. Yeah. Um but no, so like after they run into

32:17 Willis and he runs away because like he doesn't want to he doesn't want to be around other people because anybody gets around him disappears. Um, they asked the other Digiid Destin to join them in uh, America, which means they have to, and the thing is they somehow do get pretty close to their location without a lot of stuff, which is weird that like, see, there's no good reason why they really needed them here if they're just trying to save one kid. But yeah, the original Digi cast all the new Digi Cast all ends up in America and uh ends up spending a lot of time uh and then but somehow uh while Kari and TK's on a train, they get attacked by Cookon for

33:04 not really a good reason. I mean, Pokemon's trying to chase Willis and get him to go back to where it begins. And well, it doesn't really make sense why he's attacking TK and Kari here. He he but he does he tax them. Train gets turned off. Well, that's inconvenient. Um eventually Willis and uh Terriermon runs into our cast of Digi Dustin who gets stranded in the same place and due to that they uh basically ride together and they start trying to form a little uh thing. Of course, Davis, if you know Davis in the season two, uh, basically Davis is a all like he is one of those people who's really infatuated with Ki

33:50 and he's never going to get with her, but like he's really infatuated. So, anyone who kind of goes like, "Oh, man, that cute girl Ki, he and of course, Willis goes right into it." Um, but no, like Davis and Willis at the beginning of this are really at each other's throats a lot. And it's funny because they end up stranded together. Um, and during this time period, there's a really out of nowhere moment where like David gets really emotional about like the reality of Willis and his twin Digimon breaking up kind of thing. And it's really strange here. Um, of course, uh, you know, we do see all the armor evolution showing up because there's a small battle with Kokammon and Flame

34:36 Drammon and, uh, Rapmon is how, uh, Willis and Davis gets back to the main Digidestin. Uh, and it's really awesome in this tolly animation style to see the armor evolutions. Flame Dmon looks great. Rapidmon's cool. And there's this great scene where like Willis and Davis are riding on rapon and Rapmon and uh to get back to the rest of the cast and like there's this there is this fun song that's like hey Digimon hey Digimon and like it's one of those things where there's some original music here that's really good and it's a very like it's not a bad thing. Like there's songs in here too like we're going digital like with a little the guitar in the back

35:22 like you know electric guitar in the background and like there is really good music here. It's just it's in the Digimon movie, you know, like and the thing is like Digimon, Pokemon Yu, you're all competing with each other to get the kids attentions back in the day and like, you know, you have the Yu-Gi-Oh movie, Pyramid of Light. Oh, you get a trading card and you know, it's really dark and you know, there's funny moments and you know, then of course, you know, the really serious like, holy crap, did they just do that in a Yuki movie? You know, and then Pokemon the first movie is like iconic and it had the little gold Burger King toys and all that. Digimon the movie should just be is more like it's funny how much like just what they were

36:09 throwing at the wall to get people to watch this. I'm surprised Tai's mom didn't show up in a truck trying to feed them health foods. I'm really shocked they didn't try to edit that into the third third part of this movie. Um, so eventually, uh, the three main cast ends up at the flower field, the flower field in which Cocoon was attacked by the virus infected wind. We never really get a good explanation for the virus infected wind, but we know that it was the evil Digimon and it made him evil. Uh, so they start having this awesome battle. You get Hawkmon turning into Sarafhimmon and Armadillon armor

36:55 Digimol to Digmon which you know I gotta say I love Digimon but Digmon is definitely got to be one of the lower effort naming prefixes. Um uh but as they're fighting and everything, Sarafhimon kind of plays dirty. D uh evolves everybody and then for some reason starts turning everyone into kids like but everyone starts changing uh they start changing everybody into kids for some reason and that's a big thing. Um like like Willis goes back to what he looks like at the beginning of the movie which you know kind of makes sense but like the other one's being transformed to kids cuz like I guess if you're a kid

37:42 and you're daged you can't dig evolve or armor dig evolve your Pokemon which okay that's weird but we'll go with that. Um, but no, that's the thing is then out of nowhere, uh, Kari and TK finally show up with Anjamon and Anuan and saves all the Digimon before they're ate by, uh, the giant Cookman's mega form, I'm assuming, or ultimate, one of the two. Um but then uh they for the first time we see uh the mega evolution of Potamon and Anjo which are uh if I'm correct I think it's safon and I for man I can't remember what the pink wild

38:29 thing that's like a Dratini uh cat thing I forget what it's called but uh they're able to summon before they're destroyed they're able to uh summon the Digi the golden armor eggs and uh you know Terriermon and Vimmon are able to golden armor energize too. Uh it it's basically fl like I basically they're in golden armor forms. It's flame drammon but with gold armor and then it's Terriermon's uh like its ultimate form which is Raptureon which is really funny. They actually used that in season 3 but or tamers but like just took the golden armor away and

39:14 made them all dark green which is funny. Um but as they're fighting they actually are swallowed still and from the inside they destroy Pokemon and they're able to save the day. I guess by destroying Cocoon, they destroy the virus and uh you know there's this really sweet scene where they fly away like you're not gonna lose me Willis and like everybody re-agages to the right age and like as everyone goes their separate ways uh you know Cookon's egg washes up on uh the beach which you should understand Digimon don't die like that's one thing is Yu-Gi-Oh character sent to the shadow realm Husk with no souls. Kind of dead.

40:00 Pokemon. When a Pokemon dies, they dead. Kind of dead. When a Digimon dies, they just turn into a Digi Egg and up at the Dig Digi Egg Village. Like Digimon don't die. That's not just how Digimon works. Like a Digimon can die, but they're always going to reincarnate. Digimon don't like stay dead. And that's an interesting little side note. But now let's get into my final thoughts on Digimon. Uh yeah, let me get my final thoughts on Digimon the movie. Digimon the movie is a very interesting experimental piece of media. Uh Digimon, you know, these three Digimon movies together and the way they're tied

40:46 together actually isn't terrible. The connecting plotline of, you know, having Willis be the most important character throughout the remaining of the the entire movie isn't a bad one. And honestly, it's very fitting. The animation here by Tolli Animation on all three accounts looks fantastic. Even though Hurricane Touchdown does show a little bit of rough edges around it, but if you know the production history behind that movie, you understand that it was kind of a thrown together last minute project. Now, let's also be 100% honest. The third part is very much feels tacked on if it wasn't for the Willis setup. Other than that, these movies are a lot

41:33 of fun. It's interesting to see the idea of where Digimon iso was gonna go before Digimon the anime came out. Uh, of course, our war games is a fantastically fun thing where uh the entire time you're watching just Tai and Izzy trying to put everything together before disaster would strike. I mean, there's nukes. There's the entire supermarket chain going under with people's chocolate bars being up to a million yen. I mean, there's fun there. And then, of course, the final one is kind of more just a country, you know, wide journey and everything with some fusing elements and everything, but Cocoon and the finale

42:19 there is pretty out there. It feels like it's from a different movie. Or maybe the three movies as separated will explain why this third movie feels so weird. I don't know. Maybe I'm hinting at the sequel that you should hit like and subscribe so you can see for the next video. I hope you guys will tune in and see me for the next video that's a sequel to this one. Geek out.
