Intro

The Dub Talk podcast starts with a disclaimer about foul language and spoilers for Gurren Lagann. The host emphasizes the importance of respecting different opinions and introduces the team: Zenith, Spaceman Hardy, and Jet. The episode is dedicated to discussing Gurren Lagann, a show that the host holds dear.

Synopsis of Gurren Lagann

The host provides a brief synopsis of Gurren Lagann, describing Simon's life in an underground village, his discovery of a robot, and the battle against beastmen and other enemies on the surface. The story begins with Simon, Kamina, and Yoko escaping their underground village and escalates into a war for the survival of the human race. The series is known for its extreme escalation in scale and stakes.

ADR Direction and Script Writers

The team discusses the people behind the English dub of Gurren Lagann, which includes Tony Oliver as the ADR director and scriptwriter, along with Alex Vaughn David and Barden Bishop as writers. Tony Oliver has directed anime such as Fate/Zero and Hunter x Hunter 2011. Alex Vaughn David has written for series like Sword Art Online and Madoka Magica. Barden Bishop has written for Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and Shaman King.

Direction and Writing

Zenith expresses her love for Gurren Lagann, calling it a life-changing anime. She praises the dub for sounding natural and staying true to the original Japanese, considering it one of the best dubs in recent decades. Hardy shares his experience of watching the series in English on cable television, noting that the first few episodes were rough but improved as the show progressed. He appreciates Tony Oliver's direction and Alex's writing, though he finds the language a bit excessive. Jet first watched Gurren Lagann in college and praises Tony Oliver's direction, noting that the dub script strikes a good balance between faithfulness and adaptation.

Beastmen Generals

The team discusses the four beastmen generals of Lordgenome: Thymilph, Adiane, Cytomander, and Guame. They are voiced by Paul St. Peter, Megan Hollinshead, Steve Staley, and Doug Stone, respectively. Zenith is familiar with many of these voice actors from Bleach and appreciates their performances. Hardy finds Doug Stone's portrayal of Guame particularly sleazy and Megan Hollinshead's Adiane enjoyable due to her psycho meltdown. Jet praises Doug Stone's Guame for being memorable and Megan Hollinshead for her haughty portrayal of Adiane. Andrew notes that Thymilph is the least memorable despite his significant role, while Megan Hollinshead stands out as Adiane.

Kiyal Siblings

The hosts discuss the Kiyal siblings: Kiyoh, Kinon, and Kiyal, voiced by Karen Strassman, Stephanie Sheh, and Gina Bowes, respectively. Zenith recognizes the voice actors immediately and appreciates their distinctive voices. Hardy notes that Stephanie Sheh's character has the most significant arc, while the others fade into the background. Jet finds Gina Bowes' Kiyal spunky and Stephanie Sheh's Kinon compelling, especially after the time skip. Andrew finds Gina as Kiyal adorable and Stephanie Sheh as Kinon very compelling.

Team Dai-Gurren

The team discusses members of Team Dai-Gurren: Arty Burrow, Daigun, Buta, Gimmy, Darrly, and Leeron. They are voiced by Derek Stephen Prince, Doug Stone, Julie Ann Taylor, Melissa Fahn, Brianne Siddall, and Steven Jay Blum, respectively. Zenith doesn't have much to say about most of the characters but praises Steven Blum's Leeron. Hardy agrees with Zenith and considers Leeron one of the four main characters. Jet praises Steven Blum's unique performance as Leeron. Andrew appreciates Julie Ann Taylor's animal noises as Buta, Derek Stephen Prince's loud Arty, and Steven Blum's Leeron.

Lordgenome and Anti-Spiral

The hosts discuss the central antagonists: Lordgenome and the Anti-Spiral, voiced by Jamieson Price and Dave Mallow, respectively. Zenith thinks Lordgenome steals the show with his menacing presence. Hardy agrees that Jamieson Price is at his best as Lordgenome and Dave Mallow's robotic voice is perfect for the Anti-Spiral. Jet notes Jamieson Price's regal and sinister portrayal of Lordgenome and Dave Mallow's frightening tone as the Anti-Spiral. Andrew praises Jamieson Price's commanding strength as Lordgenome and Dave Mallow's cold, calculating tone as the Anti-Spiral.

Viral and Rossiu

The team discusses Viral and Rossiu, voiced by Sam Riegel and Johnny Yong Bosch, respectively. Zenith finds Johnny Yong Bosch surprising as Rossiu and Sam Riegel one of her favorite voice actors in the show. Hardy appreciates Viral's emotional range and Johnny's portrayal of Rossiu's emotional turmoil. Jet notes Sam Riegel's loud and cocky Viral and Johnny Yong Bosch's quiet and weary Rossiu. Andrew praises Sam Riegel's growly Viral and Johnny Yong Bosch's portrayal of Rossiu's difficult decisions.

Kamina and Kittan

The hosts discuss Kamina and Kittan, voiced by Kyle Hebert and Christopher Corey Smith, respectively. Zenith appreciates Kyle Hebert's humanity as Kamina. Hardy thinks Kittan is underrated and Kyle Hebert's Kamina is energetic. Jet notes Christopher Smith's cocky Kittan and Kyle Hebert's larger-than-life Kamina. Andrew praises Christopher Smith's Kittan and Kyle Hebert's iconic Kamina.

Yoko and Nia

The team discusses Yoko and Nia, voiced by Michelle Ruff, Hynden Walch, and Bridget Hoffman, respectively. Zenith recognizes the voice actresses and appreciates Nia's line delivery. Hardy finds Michelle Ruff's Yoko flat but appreciates Hynden Walch and Bridget Hoffman's Nia. Jet appreciates Hynden Walch's bubbly Nia and Michelle Ruff's cool Yoko. Andrew praises Hynden Walch's adorable Nia and Michelle Ruff's spunk and personality as Yoko.

Simon

The hosts discuss Simon, voiced by Yuri Lowenthal. Zenith considers Yuri Lowenthal's performance as Simon her favorite in the show, highlighting his growth. Hardy notes Yuri's grating tone at the beginning and phenomenal performance by the end. Jet appreciates Yuri Lowenthal's portrayal of Simon's unassuming nature and growth. Andrew praises Yuri Lowenthal's performance as the best he's ever heard from him, highlighting Simon's journey and complexity.

Final Thoughts

The Dub Talk team shares their final thoughts on Gurren Lagann. Zenith calls it a good dub that helped her through a poor emotional state. Hardy says it's his number three favorite anime of all time. Jet says it's a really fun show with a strong dub. Andrew says it's a very important show to him and the dub is a lot better than people give it credit for. They encourage listeners to watch Gurren Lagann on Netflix or Funimation.

3:56 celebration this is a show that is very near and dear to my heart for a lot of reasons and I believe all of you are also very fond of the show as well and I'm happy to have you here with me absolutely what is a show I do not understand this concept hmm I'd say first we should at least set up what the hell Gurren Lagann is for those of you who are still unfortunately not watch the show here's a brief synopsis here's a medallion up here's a brief synopsis courtesy of anime planet simona lives a boring life in the underground village of geha where his main job day in and day out is to dig tunnels his close

4:42 friend communi however longs to bust out of their oppressive existence and reached the surface world where open skies and adventure await one day during his usual dig Simone discovers a robot with a huge face buried amongst the rocks no sooner has he shown kameena his mysterious find when two beings from the surface crash land into GEHA village one is a gun-toting woman calling herself Yoko and the other is a terrifying mecha piloted by a beast man seeing their chance to escape village drudgery calming a rally seaman and you Yoko to defeat the invader using their new robot logon however upon breaking out onto the surface world C Mon kameena and Yoko encountered enemies more powerful than they could have envisioned their fight were adventure just turned into a war

5:28 for survival human race will their lust for freedom hold on to out against such terrible odds this is how the story begins and that's only the beginning there's some there's some things that happened in the show I tell you what I think yeah I beat ya every day we've made jokes about how about stricter shirts and ass Kuwait and this show definitely started that trend this is the original escalation and then some like I would actually argue the the escalation that Gurren Lagann goes to is quite literally by the way spoiler were spoiler warning for the entirety of

6:13 Gurren Lagann plus some of the other movies at this point this is the largest any anime may has ever gone I don't even think it could physically be matched how far she'll go actually actually actually a Sarah's wrath assert wrath okay fine a Sora's wrath I've heard some stuff about asuras wrath a serious wrath even goes a little bit bigger because like the these curtly they certs are like being bigger than galaxies okay and through the main character punches out god yeah anyways anyways the biggest and anime has ever gone how's that how's that well I mean a

7:01 sirs wrath is the best anime game ever made it's okay now you're just being a [ __ ] okay okay everybody gets one authoress wrath is what you get when you take Gurren Lagann mix it with Dragon's Lair yes okay fair enough anyways it's still a pretty goddamn insurmountable scope as far as escalation which is definitely definitely insane I had a bit of a history with this particular show I want to share briefly before we get into the nitty-gritty of this there was a period in my life believe it or not dear listeners dear friends where I kind of thought anime is

7:48 kind of stupid that was I was falling out of love with Dragon Ball Z anime is stupid have you seen pooty-poo nepo me my friend I have not but that doesn't really help the discussion right now yes I was getting bored with anime I was getting bored with Dragon Ball Z and at that point I was still actively following bleach and bleach was the anime that almost killed by a joy Montano may forever well that makes it I was just yeah it's bleach was kind of why those oh god I [ __ ] this sucks like I can't so I kind of started like at some point in YouTube they had like some shows you could just watch on YouTube with ads because that

8:34 was the thing you could do back in the day and I came across one on YouTube back in the day called gurren lagaan which I was curious about I had heard pretty decent things about and I was I started watching it I was pretty invested in it I was gripped I was hooked and then the finale as it goes further and further deeper deeper was genuinely one of the coolest most like hype unique like oh my god experiences of my life and it made me realize this is what anime is this is what it can be this is what it really can be when it reaches

9:21 the peak this is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life what would you say when it reaches its Zenith now yeah sure you want it reaches at seeing it I will not rule that one out by the way all I'm gonna say is gurren lagaan is special to me because it was a show that brought me back over to the website in a big way and I haven't really looked back since it's also a dub that I remember enjoying a lot but was always curious to try and revisit because back then Andrew didn't really know voice actors except for the

10:08 really obvious ones that I was I knew about there were some people I did not know about and doing this project it was really fun researching who did what when it came to this show as for who did what's let's first dive into behind the mic with our ADR director and script writers for this series so the people behind the english dub of this show are none other than Tony Oliver as well as Alex Vaughn David and Barden Bishop Tony Oliver is the ADR director and scriptwriter and Alex on David and Barda Bishop Bishop were the writers for this

10:56 know Tony Oliver has directed such anime as fate/zero moggy the labyrinth of magic erectus Evan Joe Joe Stardust Crusaders and Hunter hunter 2011 he's also written fate/zero and Erica 7 as well as please teacher Tweety witches and K on Alex Vaughn david has written such things as Sao Madoka Magica blue exorcist lucky star and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya we also directed several of those and Barden Bishop has written for such dubs as destiny of the shrine maiden Mars daybreak ojama ojamagic me man King and several other you do for

11:44 kids doves but I protect girly wrote down yugioh 5ds that's uh that's quite a line up there Andrew it's quite a lineup oh yeah I see you picked up appropriate you okay I'm glad I'm glad you caught on to that one thank you very much robot fights on motorcycles so starting off with our discussion of Hiroyuki imaishi guy necks and bang zooms gurren lagaan English dub zenith which he care to start us off well yes the direction and writing before I begin I want to say that gurren lagaan is a life changing anime to me it was the first anime I have reviewed back

12:30 in my you know BEC when Zenith d1 was taking over yes that is the thing but it was the first anime that I watched and emotionally invested in to the point where it made me cry several different times and just the sheer scope and the scale and everything about it was simply wonderful now I initially watched this in sub and I love the sub but recently I've been getting in watching it in the dub when I went to RiRi do my da my zennith D ones review of Gurren Lagann and I love this dub and and here's the thing dubs for me you know there's a very fine line

13:17 between a dub that sounds super super natural ended up adding stuff in and keeping in tone with the original Japanese this just takes all of my boxes this is one of those legendary dubs that it does everything I want it to be and I would honestly put it up there with like the likes of blood blockade battlefront as one of the best dubs in the past few decades okay big fan are you uh you had noticed who the hell do you think I am you're Xena Warrior Princess that's who you are it's a rhetorical damn question I'll say

14:05 this I'll say this that if uh are you are you done no yes yes okay you've given me an idea for what to do for the ADR director writer section of this party hmm Hardy yes before you go into your thoughts about the directing and the writing of this dove I'd like to ask what is your personal history with gurren lagaan I'm very glad you asked that Andrew I actually the first time I watched this was in English I had no idea what it was until it came on cable television I had only seen the ATV trailer on one of an old single disc

14:51 release a TV films this came out before a TV folded and was still and they were still doing singles and they initially had the rights to it so I watched the trailer and the trailer made it out to look like the single goofiest thing imaginable like it was a comedy really yeah okay if you could ever look at the original ad the trailer for Gurren Lagann it it does not do it justice I don't even know if I can find that stuff like legitimately only not up not till a few months ago did I even know that a TV was originally supposed to dub this yeah no we included on the blu-ray do you think no no it literally does not exist outside of like okay some people who

15:37 have the original deandre I will tell you this Tiffany grant herself the original voice of Yoko and I'm not spoiling anything for the future that she said that only a few screeners were ever sent out only people like Mike tool and other people in the anime industry actually owned copies they had a first print they think the first four or five episodes and then those DVDs were either locked up in storage for all time or they were destroyed there are only a handful of people who actually have seen the first four or five episodes at the adv dub but that's that's regardless that's a story for another day it's a story in itself but what's your story

16:22 welcome to the holy grail of of garlic I'm sorry speaking of Tiffani grant look up the Avon Gillian at AIDS PSA if you haven't already oh my god God you want to talk about lost lost media that apparently recently was uncovered yes and I spoke with her directly about it as she revealed all the sordid details would you believe there's a dirtier version that never got recorded I'm gonna be honest I do believe that but there's only so much time in the world but anyways alright I'm digressing okay so I went into the series not knowing what it was not having seen it subbed because I don't think at the time legal subs like crunchyroll even existed so the only way you can watch the sub was through fansubs but in a sci-fi had

17:13 their their anime Monday like weekly string where they would show a bunch of anime shows and they announced that Gurren Lagann was going to be airing in English and that was the way I watched it week to week I would watch Gurren Lagann in English having not watched it previously and I would like every single week this is like this is the coolest thing I have ever seen this is also I love it excuse me the beers kicking him ooh oh there we go oh this is the beer that will pierce the heavens this is the beer that will pierce my gut but but no I just at the time I know there was a lot of people talking oh this actors not that great oh

17:59 this actor pales in comparison to Japanese I'm like this is freaking cool how can you not enjoy this and then I remember getting to the halfway point right before the recap episode and then waiting patiently for the next episode of gorilla God to come on and then it was an episode of reader diet I'm like no where's grandma god I want Gurren Lagann why is it here they had delayed the second half until somewhere later in the year and I was like going through withdrawals I did the rest but yet that was the way I first watched Gurren Lagann all the way through was on cable television back when we still had cable TV in our house and yeah I just every single night every single week I

18:45 would just go up there and just watch it and be like completely spellbound by the time that it ended on episode 27 I'm like I need a cigarette and I don't even smoke it was that cool it was that cool just you know smoking an invisible cigarette was it good for you too yeah the cigarette the cigarette was the drill all along yeah yeah the chicken and the egg world sitting in the bed together the egg was smoking his cigarette and said now that that question is answered what else do you want to know but anyways but but yeah okay long diatribe aside and my thoughts on the ADR direction and script writing of this

19:31 show the first few episodes were kind of rough not gonna lie okay yeah I'm not gonna lie there are a few actors in this show that started out pretty bland and flat in a show that's supposed to be so exuberant and and over-the-top and boisterous I feel like the first few episodes were a little bit weak on the English side as the show matured and spiraled out unattended it it evolved it grew and it edit it and it got better as it went along and we say that might be

20:18 part of the point and then that kind of is how things that went naturally and it's very fitting that given the show subject matter that it proceeded to do that but ya know I think Tony Oliver is a great director alex is a great writer I'm not too familiar with with Bishop but I should I should probably clarify that Alex himself only writ I think maybe two to three episodes Bardon real it's a writ writ Alex only did like two to three episodes of the show bharden did eleven and Tony did the other sixteen okay that explains things yeah yeah I think they did a really good job maybe a little bit too much language but given

21:04 the you know over-the-topness of the show and that the fact that they didn't go too vulgar I kind of appreciate that so yeah my long I'm the one who won this episode to be short my long diatribe over I think they did a really good job this drill is gonna go all the way baby all the way and now Jett the drill is yours my friend what is your story and what are your thoughts I'm trying to think for me I first discovered girdle God back in college that bathroom watching it but because I had a roommate who was a database and so I so I so I took hearing it I kept over here again watching fans of it okay this seems kind

21:52 of interesting again like sometimes I'd once fans some stuff with him every now and then like typically I decided to check it out on my own because he was like on episode 13 or something so I discovered this year without Netflix and it was back when bad guy was still around so I think bad guys had it back then that sounds like a so the girl okay share all 27 episodes were up so I went through the whole thing oh wow this is really cool and yeah that's kind of my story so getting into my thoughts on the gub through the Oliver is probably one of my favorite directors at bag dude these days and his work usually very consistent but I wasn't always a fan of his work specifically back I'd like the neon alley days which stuff like do I rather to youkai quit or it's easy what if bagi I thought a lot of his work to be kind

22:39 of hit or miss it came to like really loud action shoes and so Kabaddi that with the fact that his dad was like generally not that well-received back then I and I definitely didn't hear it talked about as much as you know from the other girls but I don't like you know say Code Geass or something I wasn't really expected a voice erected here to hold up hold that back well yeah but to my surprise that only to Dubois erected hold up it's honestly up there with seven thirty all of its best worth I'm sure it is I'll give it Hardy that I think like the first maybe couple of episodes I had a little rough around the edges and it takes a little bit for some of the answers to find their groove but what they do it's definitely a lot of fun to what to do and the more they share Wes Khalid said so the quality of the performances and by the time we get to the final arcady sher where it's obviously right up there with the killer killed amateurs just like pure quality

23:25 him killa kill is also a show directed by mr. Amash II and they are both very similar yeah some nudist beach weather I'm not going to argue which one is better or worse I'm just gonna say they're both awesome and goddamn worth your time yeah their different perspectives yeah I also really like the dub script uh well it isn't quite as part two you might expect redacted share with lot of this wedded especially know we're going to be writers did work at for kids because I have been revisited the dub again and that's a definitely very punchy this definitely strikes me really good balance with three big fables of materiality and you know that weight of

24:10 the characters week we're gonna be watching a wireless messy what copy the heat on I also appreciate that even though the issue had three separate and active writers it all felt like what's coming for the same person took a good Tony Oliver did a really good job of just keeping everything consistent so yeah the dead hold up really well the technical and and honestly a lot more than I was expecting to do I will definitely say I also feel this is a dub that is really under criminally talked about and it is really really up there like I understand the for many people the Japanese leg which track is very iconic for the show but honestly to me so is the English it's so very very iconic and quotable and there are so many of

24:56 these actors where it's very much like I consider these actors to be this character it's like I look into the a TV stuff it's like I'd be curious to see this person's take on C Mon or Cal Mina or Rocio but honestly these aren't so iconic these characters and these performances I will agree it is a little kind of rough around the edges at the start but I'd argue it's very diamond in the rough going forward and it chips away and becomes something really beautiful memorable there's literally so many cool speeches at the end I couldn't keep track at the end like everybody is giving a hundred and ten percent it's so cool everybody's giving their all their [ __ ] goddamn manly finding spirits

25:43 and then some it's so cool it's so funny it's so natural I also appreciate there's a lot of people I don't get to talk about that much on dub talk that we're gonna get to talk about the night and that's really cool I think I think Toni does a wonderful job with this dub and the script all like I didn't know this was three writers until I did a research but it all flows naturally like there's a little bit of spice punchy dialogue but it feels faithful to the source material but also adapts in the best ways when it needs to and I think it's fantastic and absolutely Tony did great they did great and with that it's time to get to our first batch of characters this batch is

26:30 going to be our first major antagonists for this show that would be the four beastmen generals of Lord Janome the spiral King these are all very big adversaries in the show that kind of get done away with once we get into the second half but they're pretty important throughout the show that they would be Timmel a DNA seto mandra and guam they are all different types of beasts people Tim Wolfe is an ape Guam is an armadillo Sita mantra some sort of bird and a DNA is [ __ ] hot I mean a scorpion

27:18 so cricket cricket crispy I'm gonna be like come on I just said she was hot and all of y'all were like really nothing okay I mean I mean I got disagree with you but I'm he's not but look she's not my type but let's face it she's she's very much a type of sadomasochists type character also that one uh that one end card of her to be the like bikini was pretty cool well you know the bikini that looks like like what's-his-name from killa kill despite this happening far be far years before kill I kill send cats yes it does okay actually oh [ __ ] now think about it her mech does kind of look like send cats it's got like the

28:05 tittie eyes and the mouth is the crop oh my god yeah one thing you'll know about mie she as a director he loves his callbacks he loves his callbacks and yeah he brought you see he has only one brand but he does that brand extremely well he has one brand and that brand is [ __ ] my brand too and I love it now talking about who actually plays these characters Tim Wolfe is Paul st. Peter a DNA the elegant is Megan Hollinshead see tamadra is Steve say Lee and Guam is Doug Stone let me take a drink hang on I need to quench that thirst for a second Paul st. Peter has played such characters as nine-tailed Fox from Naruto Yami rial go from Bleach WaMu

28:52 from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure captain battleship from buh-buh-buh and Lee Oman from Digimon Megan Hollinshead has played such characters as Runge kuma sumoto from Bleach she's an A from Naruto caster from fate/stay night Oobi w Follette anew from Code Geass and my [ __ ] Valentine from yu-gi-oh Steve say Lee has played characters such as toshiro hitsugaya from Bleach Neji Hyuga from Naruto khatai Toyama from boom go stray dogs memoria qiyamah from k-project and Hoka Inomata from killa kill I'm some guy I'm so surprising it imagine your favorite character for the Dolphins oh god you're right McGillis Farid [ __ ] anyways in

29:41 either way look there's a lot there's a lot of characters some of these actors have done I had to pick out little favorites uh Doug Stone has played characters like ah kiyokawa Zhu from paranoia agent stoner from arica 7 Jim Baral from Mobile Suit Gundam the origin doctor Kusano from one punch man and Michi Sousa Rory aka Satsuki's Butler from killa kill uh yeah I got all the four generals Zenith tell us your thoughts um well I'm familiar with a lot of these people from Bleach because I grew up with bleach and as we go on you'll see work in voice actors from Bleach you'll see a good amount of them you automatically twice actors and the thing is I love the bleach dub and I think they're just a

30:27 solid in this definitely different vocal direction and definitely a different like because this is less somber because bleach was more somber but I still think the quality is there so I mean the generals don't do as much am i rewatch I'm like you know they tend to be there for like an episode or two and then go but they're great personalities and I think these voice actors really bring them through alrighty party yeah uh let me just say that Guam Doug stone makes Guam sound like someone who would sell someone into like sex slavery he he is Guam's design is what

31:14 the FACA community would call the ugly bastard oh no Guam is the guy who sells the girls to the ugly bastard Timnath is the one who buys them you're not even wrong that's why I hate that you're saying this continues yeah I don't want to think about that don't don't think about don't think about I thought about it the doujins exist but ya know I think all of these people my personal favorites probably Megan as a DNA because you get to watch her just have this sort of psycho meltdown when she's having to deal with me because you could tell she absolutely cannot stand her and

32:00 and she goes full [ __ ] switch and it's it's a wonderful I think here's a fun fact actually about a DNA I found out from the secrets of gurren lagaan the reason those two apparently know each other according to the creators at a panel is that apparently they played volleyball together really yeah yeah yeah why did a DNA seem so familiar with Nia a DNA used to play beach volleyball with Nia I'm gonna say some other fun facts from this article throughout the night or expect those but anyways yeah keeping things short and simple I think each one of these actors brought their own amount of sleaze and and arrogance

32:48 and and at the moment of their defeat just sort of this complete and utter you know despair that was rather delightful to watch so yeah all right jet your thoughts okay I'm sorry we're PO sate Peter C Bolt I thought he was a lot of fun it's kind of hard to disassociate policy Peter from Li Ahmad whatever he goes eckworth with his voice and table definitely what's it about as long as the average Leo Bob does but he definitely bots the level of a DVD for that character and he definitely sounded very confident for an intimidating for the one episode he stuck around for with a dwarf a the bat but again he died very quickly didn't really leave that much

33:35 good impression cease alias you tamadra I know kinda forgotten see sailing was even at this time I was kind of make see he's kacica to kill until a little more clever in hindsight but anyway he does a really good job of striking about between you know making the characters I'm very snide and pompous I well I'll talk about big if a two channels in her hair but everything's not going very badly for him and I don't like at I said that borrow bits for but I don't a fighter performance pretty fun all the same what did say that to be a little more was a definitely dog stove is Guam I vote for the performances itself and also because of use as you'll see a little later he was the most suitable instance of double casting admission and to its credit he does a pretty good job into secrecy from the other character he plays and I even compared to the other

34:22 general they definitely make [ __ ] Mohammed's like a total slimeball you know the whole thing with taking advantage of Keita by beta game where the village of girl from this ugly yet beautiful world was pretty funny fancy what person here who has seen haym obligated to do that reference because that in an earlier guide action Oh and I would say what as I so you remember the bait where a Gua baits key driver like a village of beautiful girls wait a second that's where they're from because I want you yeah yeah yeah that's kinda sad you're like rip stream from this ugly a beautiful world wow really okay it's just like that like the Avon galleon girls in the bathhouse okay the a mcgalliard girls were unmistakable of the bathhouse like I could tell that those mile away I could

35:09 not but then again I have never seen Ava well you got time yeah anyways you got time yeah so yeah yeah so right yeah that's the thing but anyway that bit where you know he tells the about her daughter about her father a loser at the doll to be discarded was kind of messed up and a Doug's delivery there was sort of like magic that I'd equally weighted saying this gotta get parts of the face and I was definitely pretty happy when he finally got some good comeuppance speaking of said come up in Stubbs delivery where the bit were treated a bit where Guam got a spin out of control was also pretty funny and out of all the general sets it was definitely the most memorable but like Hardy by Santa here gonna be making house and as a new day because well it's Megan sled and she's always been pretty good

35:55 at playing haughty and sultry female villains that our performance into d-day definitely channels and speeds and what's these fruits into nudity seems very calm and collected while copies of it Spyro King yeah but as soon as either the room would anyone else II what sort of real colors you know he's not afraid to talk to anyone even be a late she is a scorpion she will sting you whenever she gets the chance it's their nature yeah and my personal favorite scene appearance is definitely the bit where like me ask to take it back to the Capitol what it beneath its having absolutely none of that and it's the we're fully hot I definitely like how wealthy bounces off four-year-olds actor who you know trying to maintain his pride as in a warrior even when she's just putting him through the ringer constantly oh she smacks him like so much like a rude rude let him get a

36:43 sentence out [ __ ] yeah it really makes me wish Meghan hogshead was so working in anime dubs out of Redwood since our boys are very distinct but up out of whole I found all for these performances being pretty good okay starting off it's ironic that Timmel has the least impression of these four despite objectively making the biggest story mark in the series like that's the thing that always gets me is like Tibble is the least memorable of these characters he does the biggest thing in the show at that point the sky fortress right yeah no no no not the sky fortress team the other thing he

37:30 is die ganzen which becomes die Guren he's that guy who does that thing to that right okay every day you don't need to like you don't need to allude to things here I mean I know I just want to get I just want to get to it later cuz that's way what we we will talk about it okay anyways look temples it is good old gruffly he's a good old gruff monkey man and Paul say T reader does a great job he's already dead see tamadra Steve Staley I did not know this was Neji Hyuga as Steve Staley when I first watched it I'm like DTS out familiar but he's so haughty and like

38:16 kind of snotty but also a bit of a sassy [ __ ] too you know you know he should have seen his defeat coming if only he'd used the Byakugan it's gonna be like this all night okay anyways no but he does a great job he's all he's our two-faced little [ __ ] head but he does a good job with the stuff he's working with Steve is great Doug stone is very slimy and methodical sounds old and distinguished but he doesn't really good jobs I don't like the slimy old gruff guy who's willing to do whatever he must for his king and as a fun fact he is in fact the

39:01 oldest of the four beasts Minh he's been with the spiral King for a long time because as a fun fact from one of the parallel works which were basically a series of music videos released alongside the compilation gurren lagaan movies Guam was basically Lord Genomes buta huh that is very animal shoulder yeah he grew up into a fat ugly bastard though this is what happens when you stop evolution folks anyway it's like that one it's like that one quote from The Simpsons the older they are the cuter they ain't but ya know Ducks Doug does a good job but the definite

39:47 standout is Megan Holland head as a DJ who is this very like she's this very snotty up tight like holier-than-thou like evil lady she is so like villainous and poisonous and she is great she is delightful it is fun watching her interact with Nia who is so cute and calm and tough but also kind of like she's acting like a snotty [ __ ] and it's great watch her be overconfident then her finally biting it in the end is like aha but no she was a fun villain and I think Megan Hollenshead is great and now with that out of the way it's time to move on to another group of characters it is time to talk about Kyo

40:35 Keenan and Kyo also known as fangirls know the black siblings it probably sounded better in Japanese it probably sounded a lot better in Japanese yeah yeah I don't know it's just waiting for that [ __ ] sometimes I couldn't tell if they were saying black seaweeds are blond siblings I feel like if they said like blood siblings it's like I guess that's redundant but it's still just hearing the black siblings like okay I know what you're going for but it's still weird anyway should have just said the Hugo siblings you're trying too hard

41:23 girl you're trying too hard and that joke did not land wobble we'll get to it when we get to it we'll get to it when we get to it anyways these three are the three sisters two one Keaton Bosca Kyo is the eldest of the three she is the blonde one with the TIG ol bitties Kenan is the middle sibling of the three she is the cute shy one with the glasses and Kyo is the spunky youngest Genki gal with the little tooth thank thing going for her as for who plays these characters keo keo is played by karen Strassman Kenan is played by stephanie sheh and key all

42:11 is played by Gina Bo's aka GK Bo's Karin Strassman has played such characters as SOI fon from Bleach nina fourtner from Monster Delphine a from Last Exile Miyuki Takara from lucky star and Colin stutfield from Co chaos stephanie sheh has played such characters as or AHIMA in no way from bleach hinata hyuga from naruto huzzah ghee in the new Sailor Moon dub nui hari may from killa kill and Erica from erectus Evan gina has played such characters as my rooh orihara from do Lara Charlotte from berserk the Golden Age Collette from berserk 2016 and both

42:58 gory and sonoda from a gret schoo zeniff start us off with these three well let me just say for the for the moment they open their mouths I instantly recognize the voice actors because he not does voice actor or Inori he made his voice actor basically you can tell her voice from a mile away but I think stephanie sheh is pretty distinguishable yeah and what was the other one Rangi qu set from Bleach from she was recognized had no raangi KU was the was Meagan Holly said that's what I'm saying is as the other sister our bow and no T was Karen

43:43 Strassman was SOI fon SOI fun okay all I'm saying is these are distinctive voice actors I recognize their voices for the moment they walked into this building like I I could I looked at them I'm said that's that person I don't know your name but I recognize that voice and I think that can be said about these three and I think that really works because the the the kiya siblings I'm not gonna use the other term the kita vodka just call them vodkas those kiya siblings I think oh they're they're very much in the background they do get a chance to pilot you know robots some guren here and there they do get to pilot and they do get to do stuff but they're very much background characters

44:30 and having well recognizable voices for this I think worked so positive thoughts all around that's what I said cool party yeah what did you think about these three siblings I think they sort of faded into the background for the most part I mean there are times to wear the blonde and her little sister will get to fight and the middle one will just stay I don't need I could never I could never guess their names I'm sorry okay look just call it love we've confirmed who they're actresses are you could say who they don't like their actresses right right I mean the older sister and the youngers youngest sister sort of

45:15 faded to the background and the main thing that that Karen's character does in the second half is have a baby and a baby that pretty much sits off the apocalypse but whatever I think the only one that's really that really had anything of notice was Stephanie's character because she changes so dramatically between the first and second halves and she actually has like a relevance to the plot she's got a pretty interesting arc to actually yeah right where she basically becomes Rossi use assistant and potential love interest and and actually is able to stand up to C Mon even at certain times

46:01 yeah right so you know the the Karen and GK they sort of fade to the background but I think of the three the strongest performance was definitely Stephanie she also has like the most to work off of - right mm-hmm all right jet okay and so I'll set what you Naboo is is a geologist he kinda had a week to do a piece three but I thought it performance was I thought it was so pretty fun she definitely made the character come up with a lot spunkier than the other two which i thought was a nice touch and I'd do it a little bit to make them just thing since their names are so similar I often got them confused and I do it order to pad skip where akio just kind of finds itself card in the middle yep you know I tried to look out for kid

46:46 already know also I hope everyone indeed dagger and I mean in hindsight it's got to do with that TV to get to cover the board for the final violence we thought daya caddied but either way did the character pretty well for what little materials he had Akio was slightly more memorable I mean it's out Terrance offered its first side plank asana blonde I definitely enjoyed her and her sulky tone of voice was definitely again very helpful in helping me figure out which one was which with these three well the actual character decides it's maybe that's a definitely a distinctive character design he's trying to say that she's hot okay yes he's hot I was gonna say jet don't fight it yeah

47:31 just say she has huge tracts of land yes he definitely has ready he's got some wood dykey planted his seed pretty good on that tract of land it's always got a surprising bear in the map making data of all people who you're deprived scape but I thought their whole dynamic okay okay look cuz it's gonna come up at some point the the pairings that Gurren Lagann creates literally out of nowhere during the seven-year time skip is one of the funniest things about the time skip cuz it's like tyotka and kyo literally never talked to each other

48:17 seventy years later they itch and get married another kid it's off-screen character development you don't idiot but it's there it's there but it's still funny to be to point out it's like it's like how the really cute we're not gonna talk about these two characters it's like how the really cute mechanic girl played by laura bailey uh shacks up with the one shave bald-headed guy played by Keefe's dover see it it's like you to literally never interacted but also your kids are adorable and one of their kids looks like that one girl from the musical episode of space dandy oh yeah I'm sorry I do railed that

49:03 massively please get elderts okay anyway getting back on track beef say that was deaf we stephanie sheh is keno and because well see you know should start with a back rub or compared to the other two for the first half of the show oh yeah definitely other what board to do during the tab skip and a dirty early parts of the show you know she cuts off is very soft-spoken Ajay which is you know an archetype that's very much at some DJ's wheelhouse and she does a very good job a pic of the character it's not very good assuming I have but I'd skip teeth sounds a lot more Bachir was overheard and scepters overall Toyota voice make some contrast feel very immediate indistinct at first it's kind of off-putting since it's a previous week character being on board but Rocky's brand of salvation before we see a bird the board's clear are they still

49:48 in the right place even if she's dedicated a lot of that heart too raw to you about other things and I don't we felt Farah during a bit where he kind of Russia since I brought you from killing itself and a separate so everyone you know kina brought you how much he needed him and cut it helped in LP sympathize with Keenan and also maybe a little bit more to Seneca brass you you know despite not a bunch of in extremis he had become by that point but definitely I liked all three eighty three four bits is with tube which said two out of three got a little bored to do but it is what it is mmm-hmm alrighty so I will definitely say Gina as key all is adorable and spunky I like her she doesn't get too much to do but her character is pretty cool

50:33 Keo and Karen does a great job being that sort of sexy big sister type character a little bit spunky a little bit cooled too but definitely very like sexy sounding as well definitely chills it a little more when she becomes a mom and she goes very maternal and loving to her family and her her husband and brother and all that so I think care does a good job I just don't think she gets like too much to do or too much to really stand out but I think the scenes that she does get to have with her with her brother and her husband are pretty sweet and adorable and I enjoy that stuff that's the standout of course of these three is stephanie sheh as keen on who goes from being the adorably shy a engineer girl to big a

51:22 pretty compelling like opposing force alongside rossi you four very legitimate it's here's what it is it's extreme but i feel the measures taken can also be like i see how people could get to this level it's just I also kind of impressed at how far she's willing to go for her man like okay legit girl you strapped yourself to a bomb for your for your guy to make sure see him on didn't get away you're like I get what you're going for but that's a that's a step a bit much I think key Todd was right to be pissed but I also felt for her when she was

52:08 trying to speak up for Rossi you as well she's trying to chase after and make sure he understood her and that want to let know that he needed her and that I also thought it was a really cute seat actually when they're finally leaving together and like the whole am I too heavy thing I thought was a very awkward thing with Rossi is like yes you are very heavy but I think for right now I'd like to know the weight of a single life and I'm like oh that was actually kind of smooth you dick and she's like yeah you sure okay that was pretty good but no uh Stephanie goes from being like the cute meek girl to being like a pretty compelling like foil for C Iman and also

52:57 pretty sympathetic like she's sympathetic I just wish I could have seen her maybe like make up with Keaton I think before the story ended but III think stephanie sheh does a great job maker very compelling and complex and I really enjoyed the performance and now that we have the siblings out of the way it is time for us to go to team Dai Guren where there's a lot of characters we could talk about but here are I am settling for discussing starting up we are going to be talking about these members of team die Guren we will be talking about Attenborough or art and burrow however you say it daya kelenjar buta give me a Dory and

53:43 good old Lee Ron ought to arted burrow he shoots missiles that's his thing he's also got big lips taiga is one of the original members from Lintner village he shacks up with one of these oh god I forgot her name already I'm sorry ki Oh God they were very similar give me a dari their kids from a dive village that got kicked out and then grew up to become pilots of their own buta is an adorable pic mo and Lee Ron is he's very reliable character who is a very dated joke going into who place these characters is Archie burrow is played by Derek Steven Prince who has played such characters as shino aburame from Naruto who do Ishida from Bleach and Iggy from JoJo's Bizarre

54:28 Adventure dykey is played by Doug Stone who has played all of the characters that I discussed in the Guam section bucho is played by Julian Taylor who has played such characters as you in a son from lucky star Milly Ashford from Code Geass and taiga Fujimura from all of fate/stay night dari is played by Mila Lee Mello Lee who has played such characters as Erika car Sawa from do Dora Rena Ryu from Higurashi and rin tohsaka from fate/stay night obw gimme is played by Brianne sue doll who has played such characters as Tsukasa from dot hack sign kunikida from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Jim Hawking's from the outlaw star and Lea

55:14 Ron is played by the one and only Steven J Blum aka yes that's Steve Blum who has played such characters like Darcy ax the third from Wolf's reign aqui aqui Chi Onizuka from great teacher onizuka and Orochimaru from Naruto Zen start us off will you um well I don't really have a much to talk about with a lot of these characters boots as a pig mole Deepthi good job dykey I like how soft-spoken that they made the character and burrow I think it was a decent job with the character although he doesn't really do much he's high-pitched he shoot stuff that's this character give me and Daria don't really get a lot to do until the second half but let's talk about Lee Ron okay

56:01 steven blum as lee ron is the best thing about this i will hear no exile here no other other opinions on the subject he is fan-fucking-tastic I did not expect this performance and I don't think he's an outdated joke I don't think he's used as a joke I think he's a fantastic gay character and I love him ah I say I agree he's a fantastic character but there's a couple of very that are definitely a couple of panic jokes there there's a couple of like gay panic joke things in there like it was early odd there's a it's not as bad later on but they're still there and it's alone either way so so is that those are thoughts yep alrighty Hardy yeah I have to agree

56:46 a lot with what Sinha said butit has like two or three actual spoken lines near the end but for the most part he's just nothing but pit bull squeals so you can't really judge acting by that kind of thing although it does take a lot of talent surprisingly a lot it does take a lot of talent and he's [ __ ] adore right dykey is just sort of this background character who he's in the background since the beginning so but I mean he's big lug whose heartfelt and and and nice and sweet and he can get mean when he needs to but he's just sort of this eternal background character so there's not a whole lot to say about him dude's fun a universal Becca because of

57:34 how much he loves his wife he deserves some prop that is true that is very true who else Ottenberg just shouts that's his entire demeanor he pushes the button when he's not supposed to put and push the button and sometimes it actually works so but and the gimme and re you it's nice to see how they mature in the first half compare the second half compared to the first half because they start out as little kids and then they grow into teenagers and it's nice to watch their sort of evolution but even then they still really don't do all that much leerin on the other hand leer on is what I would argue as one of the four main characters mmm really cuz ya know

58:23 generally when yeah he's a super important character he's the reason why they their technology is as advanced as it is and I think that he's a he plays probably the biggest role in actually defeating the the anti spiral nemesis with his inventions and his and his his his brains the fact that he's just the stereotypically effeminate character who's just this kind of who creeps on on all the male characters it is kind of a well it's a very dated joke obviously

59:10 but the fact that Steve blue could play this kind of voice it's yeah it's it's something it's yeah it's just not nothing else I've ever heard from Steve bloom and my thoughts on the character side anyone's thoughts with a character aside it's still a really really well done and hilarious performance so yeah Lee Ron is liran it's actually one of the most important characters in the entire show and that's what I'm saying yeah okay Jen okay I will also be really quick okay me and Ari they're cute kids for the first half of the show I guess they have a little board to do with the pod scape in it is it kind of interesting seeing how that's a hobby

59:57 when Breanna kind of aids the characters a little bit but it's and they sort of have two too much to do with die from some conflict with mon dare except the princes at Bordeaux he shouts a lot and puts his the button what he's not supposed to like harder with egg yeah but it definitely does a very good job of that I thought that wasn't pretty I thought he gave it pretty away at reform it's there Doug soon as I can but the I looked at it back as he's pretty good dude what kind of a saying he's kind of in the background a lot but he simply there pretty consistently and he says he's just a good the guy who you know just kind of helps you keep keep the team together - chatters I guess and I think ever does get a really good moment towards the end when again he's like

1:00:42 chatting about how much he loves his wife always in a big battle save universe I thought that was pretty funny but yeah definitely the big set out here is Steve bloom as we're on again it is kind of a very outdated joke but but but I thought the character with had all them seriously enough outside of that that it both we worked and even sway they towed out a little bit towards the second half but either way it was definitely very interesting seeing sea-blue play this kind of character it is definitely very unique from a lot of his other roles and I definitely liked how much he was able to make your arms and effeminate I thought it was definitely very distinct which the character was treated slightly better

1:01:28 but again the days what a day that I thought that seed that I very good job regardless and yeah we all definitely add a little bit more important than we went on because he does definitely he definitely does create a lot of the things that helped us 8080 and and I thought that's pretty cool oh really I almost forgot to talk about Julianne Taylor's booted but boo totally has like three lines I thought you did or three wide really well but I don't remember too much outside of that she did do very good paper old schools though and boy but before yeah all right so I will start with Julia and Taylor as buta because she the under the underappreciated thing is animal noises

1:02:14 are very good skill to have and if you could do it it is very good to do it there's just not much to talk about on a dub talk episode with animal noises I just wanted to bring it up because butas a [ __ ] bro goddamn champ he deserves respect too because he basically was Yoko's emotional support for when she'd hopped into the cockpit of Gurren for the first time after communist death she decided like butta decided not to go with c mode Bhutto went in with Yoko cuz he's there for her it also it's adorable how he just like flops around in there it's like ah it's also oh but also uh well ya know Julia's great I wish I I thought we were gonna see a little more of the actual human

1:03:00 form of buta because they actually foreshadowed ape in episode 1 but that one kind of got left to the wayside but it's what it is uh October Oh October Oh Derek Stevie Prince is extremely loud and hyperactive and God that boy needs a chill pill but he hits the button all the times and he's good at hitting the button I wish him well he probably do good in pachinko our tubero unsung missile man I love him duck stone as dykey as we mentioned he's also Guam but he sounds distinctly different from Guam as well he say he's very much a background character but he's a background character who's consistent throughout the show he has some decent depth in the second half these wants to be there for his family but he also really wants to join the

1:03:47 team on their final battle and when he gets a chance to go he gets very emotional it's like that life in the world and it's adorable when he gets his big moment in Tengen Toppa and it's [ __ ] great he does a good job with it give me a dari I do think it is really interesting to see met Milla and Bri on H these characters up we really do not get a chance to talk about Brianza doll on this show and I feel it's really worth noting that she does a good job doing this spiky little kid voice and doing a really good teenage boy voice as well it's basically just older older dari is pretty much Jim Hawking's which is kind of what I expected but it's great melih also does a good job sounding like the quiet quiet spunky

1:04:35 fighter pilot girl as well they both do a great job and they both grow up to be really respectable galactic pilots good for them dari is the one who gets the drill at the end by the way that's worth noting I also noticed on that miry watched one of yoko students was also a pilot at the end too which I thought that was a neat little touch but ya know Brianna does a great job sounding like the spunky teenage boy melih as the teenage girl the true standout is Steve Blum as Lee Ron because holy [ __ ] Steve Blum I really don't know any other characters heat that sound like this aside from maybe Orochimaru and even Orochimaru isn't this extravagant he's

1:05:21 this goofy weird character but honestly Lee Ron is kind of a badass Lee rod it legitimately deserves more respect from people and from the show itself because he is the tech he is the guy that makes some [ __ ] happened he makes the calculations he makes the adjustments he figured out how to take on the Moog on he figured out how to travel through the universe he's really a [ __ ] champ stop it like I said the worst parts are probably like when he does the whole like panic jokes which it's kind of shitty it's kind of shitty it's still kind of shitty but he's a pretty cool character he's there at the end with President Roh see you he's he's a champ also here's a fun here's another fun

1:06:08 little thing from secrets of gurren lagaan answered does Lee Ron ever age they ask it looks that way because you're looking at him from a distance if you get closer you'll see that he has small wrinkles and he's that technologically talented if he could do maintenance on mecha he can do maintenance on his own face so yes Lee Ron does age he's just very good at hiding it hmm but no steve blum as lee ron does a phenomenal job and i think despite some things that the show does with this character lee rods a [ __ ] mecha champ and eat you're respecting attention one thing I will say in regards to that ID I will agree with you that the gay panic jokes are a little bit outdated the thing I like about Lea Ron though he's

1:06:54 confidence in his gayness he doesn't care what anyone thinks and he's loud and proud yeah he he's loud and proud and I think that's what what drew me away from the gay panic stuff because I you know normally would be upset with it but it's more like he doesn't care how he's depicted he is himself and he's fine with that I think that's part of the message of the show - fair enough fair enough I mean yeah there there are problems but I'm just I'm saying you're saying no I know he believes in the gay that believes in him exactly and the gay is directed towards machines most of the time - yep okay I was gonna make a bad joke there but I'm going to up not to he

1:07:40 pushes the buttons and knobs and levers no I was gonna say he gives the he gives the drill a nice manly twist this okay you know what that was actually good I'll give you that I'm actually surprised that that was that one was actually joke okay I made so many fans do it okay look yeah anyways look well fine I'll find a nice it he'll find a nice alien boy in the future I could tell you what anyways what the [ __ ] were we talking about alright gurren lagaan now it is time to move on to what are essentially the central antagonists for Part one and Part two of the series respectively we

1:08:26 will be talking about Lourdes genome and the anti spiral Lourdes genome is the antagonist for the first half of the series who is effectively who the humans are trying to take the surface back from because he rules it with an iron fist alongside his beast man that subjugate humanity the anti spiral several except all of the spiral races across the galaxy the anti spiral is basically a collective that stopped existing they stopped evolving so that they would never become the spiral Menace which would destroy the universe playing both of these people lord genome is played by Jameson price and the anti spiral is played by Dave mallow Jameson price has played such

1:09:13 characters as Albert maverick from tiger and bunny yasutora sado AKA chad from Bleach traffice from seven deadly sins Yukichi Fukuzawa from buco stray dogs and the king himself because lord Sedova is also a king and a warrior and so too is Rider aka Iskandar from fate/zero the anti-spy role is played by dave mallow who has played such characters as Gotoh from Hunter hunter straits from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure ah Angemon from digimon and commander Amuro from another guy next series fully [ __ ] zennith which you look here to start us off I think they both did a really great

1:09:58 job but one thing I want to point out is I think Lord genome steals the show he steals the first half of the show and it's like this is Chad from Bleach and he's playing the villain and it's normally something that I you know you wouldn't think as chad is very soft-spoken but he has this guttural growl and when he when he just like rips the arms off Guren and he revels in it like he feels like this character I think Lord genome is the standout voice actor in this pair and he spiraled this greed don't get me wrong but lord genome is just so much more menacing I love it mmm okay Hardy I have to agree that Lord

1:10:49 genome is definitely Jameson price at his most Jameson priceless while he's welcome when you compare him to someone like writer he's not as exuberant he sort of got more menacing and more more just you know what is it menacing and and just not devious but just got this this air of just met he's got this air of like met he is threatening he is very likely genuinely afraid of this man and he is a dangerous warrior right right and so when he actually starts to fighting and he's actually beating Lagaan with his bare

1:11:36 fists Simone is yeah that was not yeah and it's just it's just like watching the anime equivalent of some a super villain like Lex Luthor just going to town or Darkseid that basically and oh [ __ ] yeah it is kind of dark side right and so yeah he is he's a lot of fun to listen to as far as Dave mellow as the anti spiral I've always thought that Dave mallow has this kind of almost robotic voice to him and I think that it's a perfect fit in this case to the anti spirals very mellow tone you know cold coldness yes

1:12:24 there's no feeling there at all like it's just the most deadpan serious you know I'm going to tell you how I'm going to kill you and this is how things must be sort of thing and while I would be critical of that in other roles I think it works perfectly here so I think yeah this is the this is one of the best most appropriate characters that Dave Mello has ever played I would also say that while he is robotic for most of this he gets he gets to do some things in that final up oh yeah oh boy he does okay I'm sorry I guess I'll go and so I'll start also so I waited Davidson prices Lord to do it certainly there came to be two

1:13:10 cats of Davidson price performances you get either Ryder which is you know really gruffudd loud or you get out Bret maverick where he's like very smooth but also a little sinister and at about suppose I'll be watching this Lord today about we followed little cloture in a second camp which is kind of surprising given how loud to show it's in general but it definitely works and I'll take me since porpoises and super Griffin boo big at first he could Florida DeVito very regal hair to him that makes it clear that he's used to running things and he had just enough casual Bettis who is told that it's just as clear wide there whatever really dares to cross him but he definitely doesn't tolerate big talk back you I definitely just duck how about sheer arrogance to reach from Jamie said it makes it we every scene he was in but of course when SIBO comes knocking again Lord to know get ready to

1:13:57 a head because I mean this is trigger so why the heck not the performance technically it's proto trigger but okay well yeah prefer there were eager the idea the you know the performance gets a little more subdued and as Lord to gnome you know regains his pursuit as a spiral warrior his toe gets a little more heroic and and by the time we get to the final battle he's basically just antihero rider and I definitely here for that he's a drill with a head yeah I mean I TV was forgiven maybe a little too easily but at the same time you beat he's literally just a head bat so he gets rid of a hole that he could do and other way Davis it was definitely lot of fun as for Dave Barlow oh boy so I proved a bout a little quite

1:14:43 a few things over the years from curettes hunter but no matter what I hear him and it'll matter how long it's been since I first watch this I just can't associated him with anything other
