Paradigms shifts 1

Brief Summary

This video discusses the importance of having the right mindset and adapting traditional business strategies to succeed in the Gold Quest business. It emphasizes that attitude and outlook significantly impact organizational growth. The speaker highlights the need to shift from traditional mindsets, such as relying heavily on connections, to leveraging one's circle of influence.

  • Attitude determines altitude in any endeavor.
  • Traditional business strategies are not always applicable in this business.
  • Focus on circle of influence rather than the number of connections.

Paradigm Shifts and Building an Organization

The speaker introduces the module on paradigm shifts and building an organization, emphasizing the importance of having the right frame of mind and attitude. He notes that attitude determines altitude, a concept applicable not just in this business but in any endeavor. He stresses that success in this business requires understanding and accepting that traditional strategies are not always applicable, even though many participants come from diverse fields of expertise.

Adapting Strategies

The speaker uses the analogy of sports to illustrate the need for different strategies in different fields, highlighting that basketball strategies won't work for swimming, and vice versa. Similarly, in this business, one needs to change some traditional mindsets. While traditional mindsets aren't inherently bad, they're not always applicable here.

Rethinking Connections

The speaker challenges the traditional belief that more connections equate to better success, particularly in the corporate world. He contrasts a scenario where someone with many connections is more likely to succeed in starting a restaurant compared to someone with none. He emphasizes that shifting mindsets is a continuous, daily exercise, as deeply ingrained beliefs are hard to change.

The Buddy Boy System and Sales

The speaker explains that parents often strive to send their children to the best schools not just for education but to establish valuable connections, acknowledging the "buddy boy system" prevalent in the world. Similarly, in sales, the more sales you make, the more money you earn, and recruiters often value a salesperson's network of contacts. However, people often fail when they bring this mindset into this business.

Speaking the Truth

The speaker asks for permission to speak frankly, acknowledging that many people still believe that bringing in individuals with vast networks is the key to success in Gold Quest. He admits to having fallen prey to this mindset himself, emphasizing that it's a common thought due to upbringing. He argues that if this business were only for well-connected individuals, it wouldn't be accessible to everyone, contradicting the business's core appeal.

Circle of Influence

The speaker introduces the concept of "circle of influence," referring to a group of people who trust what you say. He shares his personal experience of joining the business and bringing in two people—Ferdy Talentino and his cousin—who joined based on their trust in him rather than a detailed understanding of the business. This highlights the power of influence over mere connections.

Personal Success Story

The speaker concludes by sharing that he made $15,000 in his first four weeks in the business, illustrating the potential success that can be achieved by leveraging one's circle of influence.

0:00 Heat. Heat. [Music] Uh we're going to

0:45 start with our module three. Okay. And we call this module module three. We call this module paradigm shifts and how to build an organization. Okay. Uh one of the most important things that you must have is the right frame of mind. Okay. Attitude uh I've seen this many many times. Attitude determines altitude. Okay. I'm sure you've seen these uh uh motivational posters that carry this. And that's very very true. Not just in this business but in every endeavor that you undertake. your attitude, your strategy, your outlook on the business will determine how big uh your organization will get. Okay. One of the keys to succeeding in this business

1:31 is understanding and accepting that most traditional strategies and concepts are not always totally applicable in this business. Okay. uh many we have in this room about 200 220 230 people all of which uh all of you have come from your different fields of expertise okay and I'm sure you all have your training and your knowledge from the different uh fields of business that you're involved with and and these are all great okay when you're when you're if you're doing those businesses okay but we have to accept that many many times the strategies that you need to make this business work okay are different okay fortunately The strategies for this business are much simpler. But still, you have to accept the fact that uh it's different. If you were a basketball

2:17 coach and you wanted your team to win, okay? You don't use basketball strategies for swimming. Okay? And you don't use swimming strategies for basketball. If you're a basketball coach, you use basketball strategies. If you're a swimming coach, you use swimming strategies. You don't use badminton uh strategies, let's say, for soccer. It's completely completely different. It's all strategies but different. Okay, we just have to accept the fact that in this business, okay, you need to change some of the traditional uh mindsets that we have. Okay, and I'm not saying that these traditional mindsets don't work or that they're not worth anything. Okay, I'm just saying that for this business, they're not always applicable. Okay, for example, okay, in traditional business and the corporate world, one of the key thoughts

3:03 is the more connections you have or the more contacts you have, the better off you're going to be. Okay? Haven't we heard that before? All right? If you are let's let's say if if you were to start a restaurant, let's say in I don't know uh let's say Germany, okay? You just landed in Germany, okay? and you you know you you you're an expert chef and you want to set up a restaurant and you set up a restaurant in Frankfurt. You don't know a single person in Frankfurt. Okay. On the other hand, we have here uh Bernard, you know, who's lived in Frankfurt all his life. He has a web of connections all around in the different sectors of society and he decides to put up a restaurant in Frankfurt. Which restaurant would you think uh would have

3:48 a higher probability of succeeding? Bernard Bernard's right because he has more connections okay more people will know about it right away and more people will start coming to his restaurant that's the traditional mindset okay and remember I use the word mindset because you know paradigm shifts means that you have to shift your mindset okay and this and the paradigm shifts that I'm going to ask you to go through this afternoon are not going to be done only today you're going to have to keep you're going to have to keep going through them on a daily basis because it is difficult it is difficult to get rid of a mindset. Okay? It's it's something that you have to exercise every day. And since we were little uh students, since we were young students, we were taught that the more connections you have, the better off you're going to be. Okay? I know many

4:34 many parents that struggle hard and work very hard so that they can send their children to the best schools, not only for the education, but for the connections. Cuz let's face it, the world works with the buddy boy system, right? If you have somebody somebody let's say in a high position here and he's looking for people he's like oh I I went to school with this guy you know oh he's a he's a relative of of of my cousin and my cousin says he's trustworthy okay that's just the way it is that's the way it is in the world and that's why many many parents work hard to send their children to the best schools for the not just for the education but also to establish connections to establish a network okay in sales it's the same thing the thought is the more sales you make, the more money you earn. Okay, which is great for

5:22 sales. Okay, if you were doing a sales job, that's great. The more sales you make and even in sales, when you when if you were a sales manager and you were recruiting uh salesmen or potential sales manager, don't you look at also their network of connections and contacts, right? Oh, I want to get this guy. He knows half of Koala Lumpur. Oh, yeah. This guy, you know, knows half of Singapore. It'd be great to set up a distributorship of brake parts with this guy because he has a lot of connections. Okay. And we many many times people fail because they bring that thought into this business. Oh, and I hear it day in day out. Okay. And for sure many many of you are going to have probably uh fallen into that thought uh process. Now remember yesterday I asked your

6:07 permission if I could speak the truth. Okay. Does that permission still hold for today? Yes. Okay. Can I still speak the truth up here? You're not going to throw your glasses at me just because I say something that uh that uh he you know because I've heard Joe, he's talking about me. Okay. No, I'm not. I'm talking about things in general. Okay. I've heard it many many times and I'm sure many many people probably today still have the same uh mentality when they go out trying to do their their uh Gold Quest business. Oh, I want to bring this guy in. This guy knows half of the neighborhood. Oh, I want to bring this guy. This guy is influential. Oh, this guy sits on top of this organization. You see what I'm saying? How many have fallen have fallen prey to that mindset? We have a few very honest

6:53 people here. And and hey, I I fell into that uh mindset too. So, I'm I'm not excluding myself uh from this list, okay? It's a very common thought because again, that's the way we were brought up. Oh, I want to bring this guy in because he has many connections. I want to bring this guy in because he has many connections. If this business was only for people that were wellconed and had a lot of contacts, then it's really then it's not for everyone. Then what we talk about during our business presentations is a lie. Isn't the reason why this business is so attractive is because everybody can do it? Yes. But does everybody have a lot of connections? No. Okay. So, we have to look for something else. We have to get rid of that of of that mindset. Okay, in this business, if

7:41 you want to work, learn how to use what we call your circle of influence. Okay, it's supposed to be sphere of influence, but it's harder to pronounce, you know, sphere. Sometimes when I'm here doing the training, I'm here learn how to use your sphere of influence. So now it's circle of influence. Anyway, it's the same thing. Okay? Not everybody may have a thousand connections. Not everybody may have a network of 10,000 people under them, but everybody has a circle circle of influence. Correct? When I say circle of influence, I'm talking about a group of people who trust what you say. There's about three people nodding their heads. The other people have no circle of influence. Will you not agree with me when I say this? Okay. When I

8:28 came into this business, I brought in two people. Okay. I started out as a customer just like you guys. I went I went into the mall and I saw uh uh how do you call this? Ferdy Talentino. How how many know Ferdy Talentino? How many have heard of him? Okay. You'll hear about him uh more often in in the near future. He's one of our top earners uh in this business. I ran into him in the mall. Okay. And uh he was going down the escalator. I was walking and and you know he's like Joe. Oh, hey 30. Hi. Hi. Hi. And I go, you know, are you still with so and so company? I was involved with another guy. No, no, I' i've already quit there. And he goes, you you've quit? Cuz I was doing very, very well with that company. And uh he goes, what are you doing now? Oh, Gold Quest. And he was like, oh, Joe, I'm in. And I

9:15 go, wait, can I show you the plan? No, no. He was going down the escalator. No, no, I can't. I'm in a hurry. Call me tomorrow. Let's meet. You show me the plan. But you know, he's going down. He's going, "Count me in. Okay, I'm in. Don't leave me out." And he goes down. And this is my first date. Okay. And I was like, "Wow, this is going to be easy, man. I'm I'm going to make a lot of money in this." No, this is true. Okay. My cousin, the same thing. I talked to my cousin. She had just gone through a very painful divorce. Okay. And she told me, "Joe, I'm going to do this business." Okay. I don't know too much about it. I don't I don't know this company very well, but because you're in, I'm in, too. That's basically what she said. If you tell me it's good, I'm in. That's what I mean by circle of influence. Okay. I made I made

10:00 $15,000 my first four weeks uh in this business. 14,800 something. Okay.
