Samantha Mathis introduces her new film, "A Stranger's Heart," which airs on the Hallmark Channel. Despite the serious subject matter of waiting for a heart transplant, the film incorporates humor to balance the darker aspects of the story.
The conversation shifts to a humorous anecdote about running with a turkey during Thanksgiving. Mathis, who has been celebrating Thanksgiving in America for 13 years, has not yet had a similar experience.
Mathis reflects on her experience working on the film "Jack and Sarah," directed by Tim Sullivan. She recalls feeling intimidated but also privileged to work alongside esteemed British actors such as Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, and Richard E. Grant. She humorously describes her role as the "stupid American" in the film.
The discussion touches on the perceived impressiveness of British accents. Mathis shares an anecdote about meeting Tim Sullivan's children and being amused by their sophisticated demeanor. She also mentions a past trip to Prague for a mini-series, describing the city as beautiful and romantic.
Mathis expresses her excitement about attending the New Orleans Jazz Fest. She enjoys the diverse music offerings, including gospel, rock and roll, and blues. She specifically mentions her fondness for the gospel tent and the band Counting Crows.
The conversation takes an unexpected turn as Mathis connects Tim Sullivan, the director of "Jack and Sarah," to the "Shrek" franchise. She also acknowledges being a "chancellor," a term used humorously in the conversation.
Mathis shares that she recently started surfing and enjoys it. The conversation playfully compares surfing to yoga, with references to downward dog and warrior one poses.
