49:34 have bishop and sister Jessica Pow with us we love them we're so glad that they are here they uh they've been overseers in what three different states right Colorado I don't know why you left there that would have been a beautiful place to serve I I I knew somebody that served Overseer in Alaska or not Alaska but Hawaii I was like I'd never want to leave there if I didn't have to uh but he served his overseers in Colorado and then in Missouri and he came to Michigan almost three years ago I think so we are blessed to have them I really appreciate his ministry last June when I was in the
50:20 hospital I he told me he was going to come at camp meeting the week before and sure enough about 6:30 7:00 in the morning morning brother po reached his head around the corner of the sheets to be with me and pray with me the morning of my surgery now that may not sound like a lot but I knew he had to get up very early on a Wednesday morning and drive all the way from Fenton just to come and say a prayer with me on that Wednesday morning and then he came back a couple other times and ministered to my wife while I wasn't able to be I don't know where I was I was in la la land and he did great he did a lot of

51:53 something whatever it is amen but it is so good for us to be here what a pleasure what an honor it is to be able to come and to celebrate to share together to Worship the Lord with you many of you you don't know me I don't know you but that doesn't matter one thing that that does matter is we're part of the same family I I'm a brother that you've just never met you're a sister and a brother that I've NE never met for the first time we're just part of God's great big family and it's just good to be able to go and to celebrate and uh I always think every time we I go to church in different places and we travel all over the state every Sunday we're in a different church and uh so I always look at it brother Steve like we're having a family reunion every Sunday somewhere with our family some of
52:39 them that we've never met before and then in a couple of weeks we're going to be having a family reunion up at the campground on the 13th and the 14th of March we're going to be having our winter camp meeting you're invited to come you'll be my special guest you come up there and be with us we like to have church we believe in just letting the Lord move and and uh it's going to be a great time of worship and fellowship and celebration together and uh let me just say what an honor it is to be here with Pastor Steve and sister Tammy this morning I don't have to tell you what a great Pastor they are you already know that you don't I don't have to tell you what great that's right let them know what great leaders that they are and they've been around for a couple of
53:26 years here was it uh 30 is it 25 five and a half years that they've been here uh with you serving as your pastor and leader and uh and I thank the Lord that God left him around to lead you for another 25 years amen and uh and uh when he decides to retire then sister Tammy can take over and uh and and just keep pastoring I'm teasing and uh I'd like for sister Tammy if she would to come up to the platform this morning I have a presentation I like to make to her one of the great Honors that I have as an administrative Bishop is to be able to uh credential uh different ones to Ministry and one of the things that I've loved since I've been here in Michigan
54:13 is the number of young people that God is raising up young men and young women in fact uh I was at cams yesterday the second class for this this year and I counted 19 uh cams members and uh and we just uh had I think about 16 or 18 camps members in the first session and we just we just exort uh got 17 exhorters uh credentials and all of them were 23 years of age and under down to 18 years of age and uh uh brother Jordans is one of those and uh but the Lord has allowed me to be able to uh to present credentials to uh many different ones and it doesn't matter whether we're
55:01 18 or 28 or 38 or 48 like sister Tammy is see well no I'm sorry 38 excuse me I'm sorry and uh but uh it is a privilege she uh talked to me not long ago and and just kind of shared the desire that she had to be credential with the Church of God and uh so we got all the paperwork filled out went through all the process and uh and uh we have three levels we have exhorter ordained minister and or ordained Bishop ordained minister is the highest level that uh women can serve in the Church of God and uh and I when she talked to me about it I said I think we'll we'll work this thing out to to skip the exorder level and just go ahead and take her to the top amen and so this morning this
55:47 morning it is my privilege to be able to present the ordained minister certificate to sister Tammy bishop and it says Tammy R Bishop file number 9 93,000 380 now show you how old I am mine's 27,000 amen but hers is 93,000 380 is hereby certified as an ordained minister in the Church of God with International offices in Cleveland Tennessee and is therefore authorized to preach teach publish and defend the Gospel of Jesus Christ and perform any other such ministerial duties as authorized by the international general assembly of the Church of God the certification confirmed at the principal office of said Church of God at Cleveland
56:35 Tennessee USA this 9th day of December uh 2024 uh presiding Bishop Gary Lewis administrative Bishop Thomas El Powell now let me just tell you how great that this is the Church of God has embraced the ministry and the calling of sister Tammy Bishop the Church of God is not just a small organization in one state but we are Lo we are now in 195 countries of the world and we have over 9 million members in the Church of God now what we have to understand is outside of the Church of God uh they don't take them in as members until they have been in the church for a long time and so we have about 9 million members worldwide but we actually have about 15
57:21 million that attend uh Church of God somewhere around the world every Sunday or every weekend and so the Church of God has embraced the calling of of your pastor's wife and it's so so much some people will just see this as just a piece of paper but no it represents a calling it represents an anointing it represents a trust that has been placed and it says a church around the world she can go anywhere in the world and be recognized as an AME minister in the Church of God so would you join together and let let letting sister Tammy know how much we love her and how much we appreciate you it is my
58:19 [Music] privilege am let me just say real quickly uh I am so glad to to have my wife with me today uh she is um she has been my uh sidekick my companion uh for this coming October for 44 years and uh we have uh traveled uh I was a preacher whenever we got married and uh whenever we started uh dating in fact her dad when I went through Minal internship program was my supervising pastor and uh I was single when I went into the MIP I told him the best thing that I got out of mip under him was his daughter and uh I met her
59:06 when she was 18 years old I was 21 I was preaching a Revival in a small Church down in south Georgia you can't tell that I'm from Georgia can you and uh from down in south Georgia and I was preaching Revival the church was full that night and I looked out and I saw this uh young goodlooking girl and I asked somebody who she was and they told me her dad was Jesse Ogden he was the overseer and uh she had come that night with the pastor of that Church's daughter and uh she heard that there was a young single handsome evangelist that was preaching no she didn't she uh she came over to be in service that night and so they told me who she was so when I got up to preach I said it's good to have Jessica Ogden tonight with us I said boy she's pretty isn't she and uh
59:51 kind of embarrassed her a little bit and uh the week before I had just bought a brand new 1979 Mercury Cougar XR7 luxury sport car I'm telling you I was I'm proud and she was standing outside after church that night and I wanted her to see me in that new car and so I rode around the church and uh she didn't see me the first time so I rode around the second time and she still didn't see me so I rode around the third time finally she saw me in that car and uh but it was two years later that U when the Lord put us together and uh I don't advise everybody to do what we did but we started dating in June I asked her to marry me in July we got married in October when you know the Lord's in something amen all right and we've been together
1:00:38 44 years and I appreciate her I want her to come and uh we're going to sing a song that can is there a microphone we can get for her any any one of these and uh and so Jordan's going to play along with us I I normally play but uh I'm too intimidated to play in front of him but uh this is a song is uh kind of an up to now listen I pastored for 30 years in Georgia okay and our churches we had great music like you have here this morning boy it's uh phenomenal don't you love the music that you have guys have around here and uh they're anointed and uh singing the new music I love the new music and uh the church I Pastor for 15 years down there in uh outside of Atlanta our son is Pastor in
1:01:24 that church now he grew up in the church and uh went away in Ministry and three years ago went back to Pastor the church and they've got a phenomenal music program there so I love all the new music but when we sing it's old stuff okay are y'all are y'all okay with something old this morning and uh so uh we're going to sing a song it's kind of an Up Tempo Tempo song but it says I can call Jesus anytime how many know you can call him anytime no matter what's going on in your life you can call Jesus anytime she'll worship with us as we sing this song this morning do do you need her just to start off so all right just start off when I get in

1:06:06 for away Lord I'll go and your will obey I was 17 years old when the Lord called me to preach I look and I see these young people sitting here this morning Thrills me to death see them out worshiping the Lord the way that they are to see the children to see the youth that is here I understand that I'm on the back side of this I'll be 67 years old this year just a couple of years older than sister I will there be 67 years old but I was 17 when
1:06:55 the Lord called me to preach I was 12 when the Lord saved me I was 16 years old when the Lord baptized me in the Holy Ghost at home on a Saturday night by myself no music playing nothing no no crowd nobody there to encourage me I was just by myself knelt down at the dining room table of our home and I asked the Lord that night to fill me with the Holy Ghost and as I was down on my knees praying the Holy Ghost Came Upon me but not only did he come upon me brother Steve but he came in me the Lord filled me that night and I began to speak in tongues as the spirit gave me the utterance I came up off the floor shouting and dancing I I I was dancing all over the house I was making
1:07:44 noise that night there in the house if somebody would have come up to our door and heard it they would have thought somebody was rans sacking our house that's all right the Lord filled me with the whole he gave me the loud kind he gave me the hyper kind hey my he gave me the fire to go along with the Holy Ghost amen the Bible talks about that he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire Hallelujah Lord gave me the fire that night after I kind of calmed down a little bit Pastor I uh I walked into the kitchen and uh as I walked into the kitchen I I walked over and I opened the refrigerator door door to get
1:08:29 a cocacola out y'all call them pops up here Coca-Cola out and it was a glass bottle kind that's what we had back then and I had to have a a a an opener bottle opener I got it out the drawer and I put the coke down and I started to open the cocacola and all of a sudden the Holy Ghost came all over me again and I be to Huck and buck and shuck all over that kitchen that night the Lord just just touched me in such a real way I want to tell you that that has been 50 years ago since the Lord filled me with the Holy Ghost and I haven't gotten over it yet Hallelujah he's still just as real today as he was then still just as powerful
1:09:17 today as he was then hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah I love him this morning then a year later the Lord called me to preach I can tell you the place where the Lord confirmed it in a little building out in our in behind our house that my mom and dad was turning into an apartment they were working on it and I would go out there to pray and I would go out there to read the Bible just a young teenage boy and I remember that night being out there in that little building sister I will and I said Lord I I've been feeling this stirring in my heart and I said Lord whatever your will
1:10:02 is that's what I want to do Lord I want to follow you and I said Lord would you give me an answer tonight would you speak to me and I just I I I don't always do this but I did this at that time I said Lord just let the Bible fall open to something have you ever done that before just let it fall open to something Lord just speak to me and I took the Bible with my eyes closed and I just I just open opened it up and when I opened it up the first thing that I read was where the Apostle Paul said I charge you therefore before God [Music] preach preach preach the gospel be instant in
1:10:48 season and out of season rep reprove and rebuke with all long suffering and when I saw the word preached there Jordan it was like it just jumped in like it just leapt out at me and I begin to weep and I begin to cry and that night I said Lord I'll preach I'll go wherever you want me to go I didn't know what it was going to look like then at that time that part of that song says take my houses my lands change my dreams and I if you call me someday to a land far away I haven't gone as far as missionaries have gone I've not gone as far as some have gone but I remember when the Lord first called us to leave South Georgia and I don't know I don't normally sell I I it's 11:30 I I I don't
1:11:34 want to hold you a long time but for some reason the Lord just has me sharing this today but Jessica and I when we got married oh six months after we got married I was kneeling down praying when Sunday night I was working in the funeral business at that time I was a funeral director named bomber I work worked with the dead then went in the ministry started pastoring kept on working with the dead I'm [Music] teasing we I was preaching revivals and we come in on a Sunday night and I knelt down beside the bed and as I was kneeling there the Lord was dealing with my heart about full-time
1:12:20 Ministry and I said Lord if you'll open up the door I'll go but you see I had some goals of my own that I wanted to reach I wanted to own my own funeral home we were about to buy our first house I had some goals and some Ambitions that I had set that I was going to do that I was going to be a successful businessman on my own horse ranch down in south Georgia but the Lord begin to change it all sister Tammy as I was kneeling down to pray that night I said Lord if you'll open up the door I'll go the Lord said I'm waiting for you to make up your mind whether you're going to be obedient to me or follow your own Direction I told the Lord that night I said Lord I don't know what it's going to look like I don't know what it's going to sound like but tomorrow I'm
1:13:06 going in and resigning my job I don't advise people to do that either unless you know it's the Lord and I said in two weeks Lord I'm all yours and I went in the next morning and I told the owner of the funeral home I'd work my way up to a position right under the owner of the funeral home and I told him I said I'm giving you my notice today two weeks weeks I'm going to go into full-time evangelism I think he might have asked me how many revivals I had booked I said two two revivals and I'm going to go into full-time evangelism when I got up from praying that night I told Jessica what the Lord had just said to me and I was expecting her to say well well how are we going to live but she didn't she said whatever you feel like the Lord is
1:13:51 calling us to do she said I'm with you I called my father-in-law and told him he said son I support you you my mother-in-law was on the other line she said how are you going to take care of my daughter there's always going to be one unspiritual one in the crowd you know that don't you I'm teasing I turned in my resonation the next day two a few days later I had two pastors called me that I didn't even know knew who I was but me to come and preach them a Revival we we stepped out two weeks later into full-time evangelism didn't know what where where we were going to go didn't know what was going to happen but then just a few weeks later I got a call to go to Virginia as a state evangelist we moved to Virginia we we we evangelized there in the state then the
1:14:37 Lord sent us back to South Georgia to Pastor 30 years later the Lord begin to stir our heart again and the Lord begin to let us know that he was going to move us out of our comfort zone again after 30 years of pastoring and I was called to go into administrative work overseer work and I said Lord if this is your will for our life we'll go and they called me and told me that we were going to Alaska as overseer my wife started crying she said Lord have mercy that seems like another world and I said honey it's not so bad I said if you stand on one part of the west side of Alaska look across the water about 40 miles you'll see
1:15:23 Russia she said you're not helping me at all amen then they called me back and said you're not going to Alaska you're going to Arizona I said okay that's a little bit better not quite as cold then I get to the general assembly and they come up and tell me you're not going to Arizona said but you're going to go to Colorado Rocky Mountain region Colorado Utah and wyomi why why am I saying all of this it's a long way from home 27 hours that we got in a car when day I'd never been Past St Louis Missouri but we got in a car and we left our children standing on the sidewalk of a restaurant crying my wife and I for two hours couldn't even talk to each other we were
1:16:10 so filled with emotions as we drove away from our home and drove away from our children and as we went out to Colorado but you see there's something about the call of God that he places upon our life I've spent more time telling this than what I planned I hadn't even plan to tell this then the Lord sent us to Missouri then he sent us to Michigan we're not as far away as we used to be still about 14 15 hours away from our three little grandchildren that we have that we love we FaceTime them almost every day but it's not like touching them but I love the fact that I can see them every day they can see Pop and honey every day you see there's something about the call the call of God

1:29:15 said whatever you feel like that the Lord is calling us to do that's what we're going to do I said well I don't know if the Lord's calling us to do it or not but I the opportunities here but deep down I knew that the Lord was speaking see he doesn't always send us to the places that's the most desirable he doesn't always Place Us in the Sunday School uh uh in the Sunday School room to teach that everybody else wants to teach sometimes he puts us on the backside I called the overseer back and I said I'll go and meet with the board tomorrow night I went and met with the board the next night they told me all the things
1:30:00 that was going on things that I already knew the church had people had left by the droves and I told them I said if you accept me as your pastor I'll come and I'll Pastor your church and I'll do my best to love you back to where God wants you to be I resign my church that Sunday night they voted me in as a pastor of that church I had people in my church come to me and said are you sure that this is the Divine will of God for you and I said no not right now I'm not I don't I said I'm taking a step by faith sometimes we walk by faith and not by sight sometimes God calls us to a place
1:30:45 and God calls us to do something uh that it doesn't show us uh we just step out by fa that's what walking by faith and living by faith is all about amen and I said no I'm just walking by faith on I'm just trusting the Lord what his plan is I got to that church and when I got to that church the pastor that I followed told me they were still running 400 but I had a 100 that my first son did 123 I said I know they ain't 300 left in a week's time amen and I went to look at the bills of the church and their payment was $113,000 a month
1:31:32 amen and I asked for financial report they hadn't had a financial report in months I had to get Michelle Davenport I don't know if you know Michelle Davenport she's preached up here in Michigan to she was they were on our staff to to get the checking book checkbook I said I need to know how much money we got in the bank I wish I hadn't asked because when she got it all set settled we had less than $100 in the bank to start the next month I'm not lying God my wife tell you I got $3,000 payment I've got to make I got light it's a 50,000 squ foot building we've got to take care of I didn't know how we were going to do it but I want to tell you that if God calls you he'll equip

1:34:38 laid my eyes on him before big boys tall big you know just just a strapping young man come to find out he was a star football player on the high school team there in that City top athlete everyone loved he had that kind of personality everyone loved him and that Sunday morning he gave his heart to the Lord come to find out his dad was an alcoholic had divorced his mom had nothing to do with him his brother was an alcoholic drug addict this young man his mom was raising him by herself she had told her son that morning said I I want to go to the
1:35:24 Church of God today I want to go over to the Church of God and she came over to the Church of God that morning and when she came she was one of the ones in the Altar and her son was one of the ones in the Altar and I thought whenever this is somehow the way we are sometime I thought well it probably won't last for him until he gets out the door but he was back that night and he was back Wednesday night and the next Sunday morning and the next Sunday night and the next Wednesday night and you know what the Lord baptized him in the Holy Ghost and you know what he started started he started witnessing to the high school football team that he was a part of he started witnessing to the baseball team he started witnessing to the cheerleaders uh he started witnessing to the basketball team he had his backpack that he took to school and
1:36:10 had scriptures all over it and he was not embarrassed he'd walk up to people and start talking about the Lord uh he begin to tell them about Jesus and I L not my wife Bears witness uh that he won half of the athletic department uh in the high school to the the Lord and they came to our church hallelujah hallelujah he came to me one day and he said I feel like the Lord's called me to preach make a long story short he went into MIP he got his credentials went to be a youth pastor at a church that I had pastored at one time in a small town and it went to that church that was running about a hundred people at that time and his youth group
