Why Everyone is BREAKING OPEN APPLE AIRTAGS

0:00 [Music] thank you [Music] apples air tags Apple's air tags have a problem and today I'm gonna I'm gonna try to fix it [Music] see air tags are clever little devices to help you find things that you've either lost or maybe that were stolen from you and I made a video when they first came out a bunch of you guys saw it and a bunch of you made the exact same comment over and over I've been hearing it for an entire year now air tags do have a big problem again we're gonna try to fix it today so if you're just using air tags to find things that maybe you've lost around the house maybe you attaching them to your keys maybe your wallet your purse or your backpack and you're just like oh I don't know

0:48 where I put my thing you pull up find my you can find your air tag find your thing that's attached to your air tag very quickly and very easily but if you're trying to use them to prevent theft or or if someone does steal something from you you can go find it because you've got an air tag attached to that thing they're kind of not great see if Apple perceives that your Air Attack is following someone else around and you are not with your air tag after a couple of hours or if that person goes back to where home is marked in their iPhone Apple will alert them that your air tag has been following them and hundreds of you have commented well doesn't that mean that a thief if they steal my bag and my air tag is inside their iPhone will notify them that my air tag is inside and the answer is yes and not only that from the notification they can make your air tag play the

1:36 chime that you usually use to help find your air tag so that they can find your air tag that they stole from you and then they can open it take the battery out and disable it what the heck apple right well there's a defensive Apple here now the idea the idea for apple is that apple is more anti-stocking than they are anti-theft because not all of you watching this have have good intentions most of you I believe have great intentions some of you have bad intentions and you could theoretically take an air attack and put it in someone else's bag without them knowing or maybe in their car and then they drive to their house and you on your find my app can now find out where that person lives because you were stalking them but what if me not being a bad guy not having any

2:22 bad intentions I just wanted to modify my air tag so that if someone did steal my thing with an air tag hidden inside that Thief wouldn't be able to find my air tag that's what we're gonna do today because I went on a Reddit search about air tags and and I I found out that it's actually not that hard to do but first a a quick moment to tell you guys that the be a good human shirts that you guys voted on on this channel and on Instagram I ran a poll for for which color blue to use and which color which color tan to do and they're here we've got we got the shirts they are up on the website I haven't even had a chance to take photos of them they're that fresh even even like three or four of you have already seen them on the website and and ordered them very sneaky but uh yeah they're here the shirts you guys voted on they're uh they're live on the website there's not a ton

4:00 a good human or a hoodie t-shirt sweatshirt combos good for the holidays okay so how how we're gonna do first off I I started with a fresh pack of air tags because I think I'm gonna make a few of these sneaky air tags I think the air tags are like thirty dollars for one of them but it's a hundred dollars if you buy a four packs all right we have some some fresh air tags here I'm gonna get these connected real quick I named it Ninja air tag and I used a little ninja Emoji for this Air Tech okay here is the sound that it would play if you were looking for your Air Tech or if a thief was looking for your air tag in your bag because Apple notified them that your Air Attack was with them uh we're we're gonna take the bark out of this dog all right according to according to Reddit this

4:52 process is is quite simple so first we just take off the rear battery door get that out of there and remove the battery and once the battery's out of there you can see kind of this gray interior plastic piece and then a white exterior plastic piece we need to get this piece separated from this piece and there's three tabs that are in there and supposedly if if I'm right one of them should be about here one of them should be about here and then the third one should be about here so we're gonna take this razor blade pry down into it and try to release the tap now if you break the tabs it's really not that big of a deal you can just use like a dab of Super Glue to get these two halves to stick back together but ideally we get the tab just opened and then and then we don't

5:40 break anything better I'm gonna wear a glove so I don't slice my fingers open I'm just going to kind of press press down between these oh they came apart really quickly I don't know if I'm at the tab use a razor blade with a little more um go more for a box cutter style here see if I can get more pressure down in there then I'm just going to kind of pry up oh okay we got a click I don't know if I broke the tab or not but it it clicked it's hard to tell when I'm like getting a tab or not oh that's two I think we might have this I think we got it folks did we break the tabs no look at that one two three all three tabs stayed

6:25 in place I didn't break those at all and that little bad boy right there that is the speaker that uh I'm just gonna pop right off and all we're gonna do is get the speaker off the speaker is just glued to this plastic piece here so I'm just gonna get our razor blade kind of underneath there oh yeah there we go and uh that's it supposedly this air tag can't beep anymore but it should still work and getting it back put together is super simple see on the on the gray but there there's those three holes right there and on the air tag there's those three electrical contacts so we're just trying to line those three holes up with those three electrical contacts as soon as they are we just push down like show one two and totally went back together and I didn't break

7:12 a single tab that is awesome get the battery back on there get the silver case back on usually when you when you lock this back on it should shine but uh again this air tag doesn't have a chime in it anymore because the speaker is right here that is awesome let's see if it still works it's uh it says it's right here that is awesome and when I hit play sound uh there's there's no sound this is it's a ninja tag you need to mark this one properly all right check that out ninja air tag okay so if a a Thief steals my bag or my car or my golf

7:59 clubs whatever it might be and this is in there a thief will still be notified by Apple that an air tag is following them around there's no way to get rid of that but when they when they go to play the sound to try to find it uh they're not going to get any help so yes they can just like tear your bag apart searching for it but there's all sorts of things out there now to help you hide your air tag these guys right here are called tag Vault surface I just picked these up on Amazon I'll link them below a way to hide your air tag somewhere by sticking it somewhere so this is a tag volt it is ip68 waterproof so this could get dunked by water if you want to put it like up under your car or something like that maybe in your wheel well in your car somewhere where there's no way a thief is going to look it's a little Vault for your air tag it's got VHB 3M on this side so once

8:49 that's on there it is it's not going anywhere and you just screw this apart yeah check that out see it's got a little seal in there we're just going to take our air tag pop our air tag in there screw this on the top like show and you can now stick this air tag anywhere that you want to really be sneaky and even when a thief is alerted that an air tag is following them ah it's going to be harder to find it now the downside with this whole process is that that yes this does still ah I guess it would help people that do have nefarious intentions which by the way if you do quit it because you're ruining products like this for the rest of us to be fair even a ninja air tag that that does not have a speaker in it it will still alert someone like if someone's stalking you and and all of a sudden you pop up and it says there's an air tag following
