00 The throat is a muscle. >> Yes, >> muscles can be stretched. They can be trained. They can build endurance and stamina. And also, watch this. Welcome to Royal Court, the show where pop culture royalty compete for a spot on my trusted council. I am your host and queen, Lady Britney of House Broski. And today I'm joined by an internationally tolerated drag superstar, an artist formerly known as Heidi [music] Destruction. She's a smoker. She's a joker. She's a midnight toker. Please welcome Lady Jinx Monsoon. [screaming]
47 Where is she? >> I traveled from the mists of Avalon to be here. Hello. Do you always appear out of a vape smoke cloud? >> Whenever whenever the crew allows me. >> Say that. You know, >> did you find the studio okay? Did you hear me cackling? And it was like a mating call. >> Were [laughter] you attracted? You were in the bathroom when I got here. >> You walked in. I was like, she doesn't know I'm having diarrhea [laughter] 4. It is the worst thing when you're expecting [music] company and then it's like that's when you're in the bathroom and you can hear everyone making SMALL TALK ABOUT BUT you down the hall. >> That's [laughter] just sitting there like
32 I'm famous. [laughter] >> Even famous people poop. IT'S TRUE. [laughter] IT'S TRUE. CAN I just say I miss when you and Liam harassed me on Sketchy Queen. >> I I told your team [laughter] >> I told your court that uh um I would do ANYTHING FOR YOU [laughter] ESSENTIALLY because when I barely had a concept, you showed up and just said yes to everything. And yeah, we harassed you for an hour and made a good 5 minutes of watchable content. [laughter] >> THE lost files. >> Was it worth it? >> It was so worth it. [laughter] [ __ ] WHEN THAT EDIT WAS SENT TO ME, I
18 was like, how does one even conjure this? >> I know that this is a weird phrase to say to, you know, a a peer, a colleague, >> a contemporary >> contemporary. Um, I'm very proud of you because you told me your story like went viral and then it became an interference at work and you saw two roads in front of you >> diverged [laughter] and girl something went wrong. [laughter] Um, so I'm really I'm like as a a fan and a friend, I'm very proud of you. Broki Troski. >> And
06 vodka. >> It's not easy to drink from these, is it? >> No, it's not. [laughter] >> Especially with our plastic lips. >> Okay. Are you ready for the trial set [music] before you? >> Truly and earnestly, yes, I am. >> I believe you. I don't believe you. >> Without further ado, let the trials begin. [laughter] >> Is it feeling like Broadway? [laughter] >> Do you feel at home? >> Yes. [laughter] >> You give internationally acclaimed head. >> What is thine secret, Lady Kins? Remove the dentures. [screaming] >> [laughter]
52 >> I promised my dentist I wouldn't do that on TV anymore. [laughter] Listen, the trick is being um a singer, so you know that the throat is a muscle. >> Yes, >> muscles can be stretched, they can be trained, >> they can build endurance and stamina. And also, WATCH THIS. >> [screaming] >> YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? IT'S JUST LIKE some people are built for things. And that's after FFS. I had to regain that. I had to like I just feel so able to talk to you that I keep forgetting this is like people are going to be able to
37 watch this tomorrow. Like [laughter] >> that it's going to be filmed forever. >> What? My mom watches this [ __ ] You know what I mean? Like she's big [laughter and gasps] fan. This can't be the worst thing you've ever put on the internet. >> No, >> it it will be after we're done. [laughter] >> In the soap opera challenge of season 5 of Drag Race, >> your character is cursed to basically nut to death at the mention of any food. Is there a food you love so much that it makes you bust to death? >> I'm I have to think really hard about this cuz I want to say no. >> Really? >> I want to say no. >> Me when I'm skinny, not big on food. >> I No. No. [laughter] >> Not really into food. I love food. I love food. It's not that. It's just that
22 I'm really picky about orgasms. [laughter] >> Okay. Um high standard >> and I think of them as such different realms of my brain. Okay. Like the thing is is it's always something basic, but I want a lot of it. >> Like a saltine cracker. >> Just like three bowls of Fruity Pebbles in a row. like just like like Fruity Pebbles especially gets really compact and you have to eat it like [laughter] and you have to eat it fast because it's soggy. And there's something about like just like getting that when you're done and then you GO [laughter] >> I think it's because I don't drink anymore but my body still craves that
08 [clears throat] sugar that it's not getting. And sometimes I can't get sleepy until I've had like something sweet because my buddy's like, "Where's my come down sugar high bitch?" Like, "You got to get me jacked up so I can crash you out of a fix. I need a fix." [laughter] >> It's just you elbow deep in Fruity Pebbles. When it speaks, I listen. [laughter] >> Jinx chocolate. [laughter] That might be the most like [laughter] millennial thing you've said though. >> Probably chocolate. You have a mustache on your finger. >> UM, PROBABLY CHOCOLATE. I'M BAD. YOU'RE BAD. You're bad.
54 [laughter] >> In the kids TV show challenge of season 5 of Drag Race, your group's word of the day was blow. >> What's today's word of the day? What's it saying? >> Today's word of the day is reebus. >> Reebus, the goal of the true alchemist. transcend to transcend to spiritual enlightenment being both male and female in the perfect combination of the divine genders omnipotent and all knowing glowing in their radiance.
43 [laughter] >> Do you want to have an evil witch laugh off? >> Yes. Do you want to start? >> Yeah. OKAY. [laughter] >> OKAY. Here's mine. [laughter] [screaming] That's actually pissed me off. That's hard to top. That's really hard to top. HERE'S MINE. >> [screaming] >> AND THAT'S JUST TRIXIE MATTEL. >> That's just a Trixie [laughter] impression.
29 >> Okay, you've passed. >> Thank [applause] you. >> Well, Lady Jinx. >> Yeah, >> that was so splendid. How are we feeling exactly? >> Really good. Really, really good. >> Oh, you brought me something. What's in that bag? >> Oh, it was the tuning fork. Oh, [ __ ] What's What is a tuning fork used for in this flesh colored set? >> I did want you to play with this. >> This is an electric tuning fork. >> Electric >> set to the earth's >> um Are you familiar with binaural beats? >> I'm familiar with that to help me go to sleep. >> Yes. >> You know about the earth to cure hangover? >> I wouldn't know. I haven't [laughter] for almost seven years. >> Wow.
15 >> No, please don't. I I made up for it and we [laughter] equal damage has been done. >> So, as you saw, you just kind of do this to get a even tone in it and then you can put it here in the ear hole. Now, what exactly is that doing to you? Well, you can hear the earth's hum. Or you can do it here and it kind of like uh or you can do it here. your third eye >> is the goal to >> try it. You'll feel the vibration and it's like aligning you with the earth's vibration wherever you are. >> Is the goal to nut? >> I Well, feel the vibration and tell me if that'll get you there [laughter] cuz imagine telling your friends, I got off
01 to the earth's vibration last night. It was [ __ ] transcendent. [laughter] >> Please don't invite her to Christmas again. Please don't invite her over. >> What other [ __ ] you got in there, Granny? >> See? Okay, so we've got the query. We've got the tuning fork. [music] We've got joints cuz I was out last one. One one left. >> One and some horrific crusty dogs. Those are the moon rocks, baby. [laughter] Um, this is emergency for when like someone jinxes something so I can knock on wood because sometimes I've like had to like stop everything and find something. That's one of the things I was raised with that's really
46 >> Me too. When I bought my car I was like there has to be a wooden panel or something because I have to when I'm driving >> a wooden panel station wagon. [laughter] >> I have to have a station wagon. This is good wipes. You got [ __ ] wipes in there, girl. >> Just because you never know when you're going to spill something on yourself when I mean there's plenty of things that can happen in a day and it's better to have it and not need it. >> Airpods, lip touchup, passport. >> Woo! [screaming] You pass. Lady Jinx, >> in front of you is a shield, a family crest, if you will. On these four
33 prompts, you will draw your answers [music] quickly while I ask you some more kind of career personal questions. Okay. If you need me to repeat a question, just let me know because it's really [ __ ] hard to double task. We've learned. >> You've described reading reviews as an ill- fated practice. Has there been a time where you've let a review deeply impact you and maybe your performance or is it still water off a duck's back? >> I was very young. This was before Drag Race. I was a a local actor in Seattle, Washington. Um, doing a production of Spring Awakening. I was playing Moritz and I'm visibly queer and even like doing my straightest little Moritz, my
18 straightest little German boy, you [clears throat] know. Um, I wasn't very [music] convincing, but I also felt like that wasn't important for Moritz. Morris's sexuality is never disclosed and there's hints at him really struggling with the idea of sex in general. So, like I don't think he looks like one type of person, [music] but this reviewer wrote a review that felt very coded and pointed and a lot of people in the queer community got really upset about it. And then I felt like I had to have an opinion on it and I got very depressed just because I was having the time of my life in that show and suddenly I felt like I was making the show bad. Sure. >> And then the director had a really nice
06 chat with me and just said, "Yeah, well, [music] they she didn't get it." So, just don't you change a thing cuz I I chose you for a reason. I directed you the whole time. I would have told you if something was going wrong. One of the most up my ass [music] things to my best friend when I was in my depression pit, you know, he had a high stress job, [music] too. And he goes, "You know, we all have bad days at work." And I said, "Well, when you have bad days at work, WE'RE GOING TO WRITE ABOUT IT IN THE PAPERS." And and he was just like, "Oh, [ __ ] you." And left. And then I was like, "Yeah, I that didn't sound like a real person. That sounded like a character. You need to get over yourself, lady."
51 Like I can really lean into playing the character of my emotions, but I've gotten better at not letting them take over. >> You know, it's not fair to do to other people. >> I was going to say save that for the journal. [laughter] >> You ever read back a journal like, "Girl, and who the [ __ ] did I think I was?" >> Yeah. >> Who the hell? You've noted that you are not the first nor will be the last drag queen to transition. How did your womanhood inform your drag? Maybe before you realized it was your womanhood. >> I I've realized like my drag was just a way to survive until my timing was right for my transition. Cuz without drag, I don't know what I would have done. I would have been severely unhappy. My
38 whole drag career was to just find practicing different things to learn exactly what kind of woman I wanted to be, I guess. But I never would have seen it that way. And I've always felt like to be a drag queen is to, you know, to choose to live outside gender norms. So, however you identify, you're choosing to give up the privilege of >> your assigned uh gender presentation, right? It is still a revolutionary act. You know, it started to feel like, oh yeah, everyone's a drag queen. What? It's not revolutionary anymore. And then they weaponized it again. And then it's like, well, I always say like they put a
24 target on me and I turned it into a spotlight. Sorry. You know, like, [laughter] but um I just think we're all just finding ways to survive and we all are finding ways to find that perfect balance for our gender. Drag queens just do it very loudly and then trans people make it permanent, you know, like [laughter] that's really regressive of an entire community. But for me, for me, and for a lot of drag queens, I think it is our way to survive until we find out where we fit on the spectrum. Totally. You know, >> and it is also this wall to put up as a a protective barrier, you know, between you and any of that. cast it on the
10 character. >> I think one of the smartest celebrities of our time is our mutual pal Orville Peek >> because he chose the mask that is his drag. It gives him what so many people who just get out there like, "Hi, hello. Want to know everything about me? Little pick of the day." It's like he gets to do that and he still has this like end of [music] the day separation. Yes, drag is very much that. It's kind of been significant to me like still having a glam team who are dolls or who come from my world and we're all doing the same things we've ever done. We're just like turning the dial up and there's still a
55 clear distinction [music] from press jinx and hair at home with her cats [music] in her boxers. Ironically. [laughter] >> Okay, Lady Jinx, present us your shield. >> This was favorite role. I decided to draw Jinx >> cuz um she's been with me so long. Something that represents your hometown, the rain and the green of of Portland. I am not good with >> No, you're a great drawer. >> Um cartoon character you find attractive? Um, this was like an early one. Um, >> Robin Hood. >> Robin Hood. I had a lot of cartoon crushes. [music] >> And I'm learning that I'm not alone.
42 Okay. No, you're not. And then I wanted to draw this beautiful pink like goddess virgin. And this IS WHAT I DREW. >> SURE. >> BUT I'M A VIRGO. >> Love it. >> So I don't know what that is. It's the divine vagina. It's the like cosmic vagina of Virgo. Wow, incredible. Could you sign it for me? >> Yes, of course. Without further ado, it is my pleasure and privilege to induct you into my royal court. [applause] >> We'll proceed with a nighting. Stay where you are. I knite thee, Lady Jinx, royal shantus, and queen of queens. Shing. [applause] >> Thank you. Thanks. >> Do you feel any different? I'm getting
28 used to these, you know. It's like I think um I'm building my infinity gauntlet, you know. So, I'm I feel Yes. [music] actively more powerful. >> Love to hear it. >> WE HAVE A PARTING GIFT FOR YOU AS WELL. >> YES. YES. >> YEAH. Drink your cannabis drink for your big big ass throat. >> For my throat coat. >> Is there anything you'd like to promote to my realm, Lady Jinx? >> Yes. I will be playing Judy Garland in the show End of the Rainbow um May and June for a limited run in London. Um Google it. I can't I keep trying to say the theater it's at. It's at Soho Wings. [music] Um
13 >> subtitles >> Wom. Um annually I do the Jinx and Da Holiday Show with Bendel Creme. And then in general, you know, just again, just my name's [music] Jinx. J I N Kx. I made it difficult for no good reason. [laughter] >> Thank you, LADY JINX. GOD, take her away out of my sight. >> Oh, okay.
