0:00 today we are going to be discussing jesus as a lion and a lamb a model for effective ministry i'm supposed to do two sessions on this tackle the lamb in one session and the lion in another i don't know i will be doing only one session let me see how far the holy spirit will help us to go glory be to the name of jesus i've been thinking about the scripture the texts that will connect those two major ministries or dimensions of christ ministry and revelation chapter 5 is is the best you know text that i can find from verse five
0:47 a cry was made in heaven who is worthy to take this call from the father and to open it and no one was found worthy so john the apostle who was attending that heavenly conference by a vision who was invited into the himalayas who began to whip and now i wanted to see the reply that one of the elders gave him in verse four verse five and one of the elders said unto me weep not behold [Music] the lion of the tribe of judah the root of david has prevailed
1:36 to open the book and to lose the seventh seal jesus was introduced here as the lion of the tribe of judah then verse six and i beheld law in the midst of the throne and of the 24 beasts of the four beasts and the 24 elders stood a lamb as it had been slain john was getting clarification from one of the elders 24 elders and the elder introduced jesus as a lion of the tribe of judah but when john looked to see the lion
2:22 what he saw was a lamb that was slain having seven horns and seven eyes which are the seven spirits of god sent forth into all the earth and he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne and when he had taken the book the four beasts and the four and 24 elders fell down before the lamb having every one of them harps and golden veils full of order which are the prayers of the saints and they sang a new song saying thou art worthy to take the book and to open the seals thereof
3:09 for thou was slain and you had redeemed us to god by your blood out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation in verse 10 and had made us unto our god kings and priests and we shall reign on the earth let us pray father we thank you thank you for this conference this year grant me tremendous utterance to communicate the wisdom of god and the mysteries of your kingdom grant all of us tremendous access to revelation knowledge let the holy
3:56 spirit brood upon us as we share together in this awesome moment and season this final season of the church history help us to develop balanced and effective ministries that commit the challenges of the time we're living in in jesus mighty name amen um i want to you know bring small contribution to this year's conference from the world of knowledge and wisdom god has enabled me blessed me with and also from experience
4:42 this issue of bringing balance to the ministry of the church is very very critical in this hour jesus was a lion and a lamb but i noticed that in the scripture that i read for you it was called lion once and called lamb twice and i think that's the ratio it should be in our own lives twice lamb and once lion what it means is that we have more work to do in the area of being a lamb that we need to do in the area of being a lion is very easy
5:27 in the kingdom to convert a lamb to a lion than to convert a lion to a lamb [Laughter] it's easy for god to promote a lamp to a lion it is a lamb that was slain that is now honored as a lion of the tribe of judah you go from service to leadership not the other way around now at the concluding verse of the text we just read apostle john now downloaded in our own experience what this true ministry means he said that jesus by dying on the cross as a lamb
6:14 and being raised from the dead and being glorified as a lion by that he has made you and i kings and priests unto our god so we see what these two ministries mean it is learning to balance our priestly ministry and a kingly ministry in the family it is a man learning to balance between being your wife's lover and being your wife's leader a man is called to love his wife but a man is also called to be the head of his wife so there are two ministries there learning to balance between being her lover and being her leader
7:03 learning to balance between being a priest and being a king of course there are many other applications to the same principle it is learning to balance between the pursuit of vision in leadership and between the care for the people i'm going to say it again learning to balance between caring for the people and pursuing the vision as a lion you're supposed to pursue the vision conquer territories and get results as a lamb and a priest you're supposed to love and care for your people [Laughter]
7:49 it is learning to balance between power and service it is learning to balance between our ministry in the church and our ministry in the society learning to balance between our ministry within the church walls and our marketplace influence he's also learning to balance between being a child of god and being a son of god because when we're born as a child of god we come into the family and we are offered our inheritance but when you grow into sonship
8:37 then you take responsibility and begin to reign and rule with christ it is learning to balance between the inheritance we have in the kingdom and our responsibilities in the kingdom and i don't mind also making one more important point is learning to bring balance between prayer and action nigerian church can pray and most of the time what we do is to put all the responsibility on god but we're not just called to be priests who pray we are called to be kings who make things happen who actually take action that can make changes happen so
9:24 it is not all about putting all the responsibility on god it's about praying and when we conclude we get off from there to take responsibility to see changes happen in our society [Laughter] i know i'm going to focus on just one of this in a few minutes but it's important for us to see what it entails the balance between caring for your people and mobilizing them to accomplish a vision and a goal there is a a tiny tension between the two sometimes we get drawn into pursuing
10:10 projects and vision and growth and expansion that we forget to care and love the people that god has given us other times you see some other people that get into the people business that they forget that there is a mission to accomplish that there are assignments that god gave us to accomplish ministry is learning to balance the truth we are called to be kings and we are called to be priests and like i said at the beginning it's easier to take a priest and train him to be a king that's how jesus started he started with ministry and graduated
10:56 to rulership but it's harder to take a king and convert him to a priest because some of the skills involved in being a priest are virtues like humility like meekness like followership how do you not take a man that has been into commanding and leading and now taught him to a follower it's better that he goes from followership to leadership than to go for leadership to fellowship in other words the way up is down it's through followership you gain leadership is to steal worship you gain lordship it's through service you gain promotion you gain greatness so in trying to
11:42 start people into leadership the right place to start them with is service start them with being a lamp and let them graduate into the kingship into being a lion that is how david grew that's how jesus developed and that's how we must develop now i want to go give a little more attention on the foundation of leadership which is the nature of a lamb the ministry of islam which is actually service leadership is service
12:30 leadership is not throwing power around is not throwing authority around i learned that leadership is 75 percent service and 25 authority if you push the balance to where it is more of authority than service your leadership falls i'm i'm going to the more authority you exact when it's not balanced with service the less of leadership you have let me take us to first kings chapter 12 the story of four verse six the story of solomon's son rehebr
13:20 the greatest man that ever the wisest one that ever lived who was also the richest man king solomon came to the end of his leadership and handed over power to his son and rehoboam uh sought for council on how to start his leadership journey so he sent for the elders that work with his father who actually counseled solomon and he asked them i'm going to be making my presidential speech i'm going to be starting this journey i've just come to power i've just been ordained as a leader what would be the first thing i would tell the people so here is what the elders advising
14:08 um in verse six and king rehoboam consulted with the old man that stood before solomon his father why he yet lived and said how do you advise that i answer that i speak to these people verse 7 and they spoke unto him saying if that would be a servant to these people and we'll actually serve them and answer them and speak good words to them then they will be your servants forever you see the secret the key to leadership is service the biblical model of leadership is servant leadership and that's what
14:55 they call in the professional world in the marketplace in business schools they call it level five leadership the highest level of leadership there is seven leaders are not level one or level two or level three there are level five leaders that is the highest quality of leaders you are looking for in every church in every organization in every country in every family these kind of leaders are the ones that are following in the footsteps of jesus let me say some things about service
15:41 nature the divine order and the created order shows that everything in nature is created to serve everything is created and designed to render service or to add value to some other thing nothing is created for yourself nothing i'm speaking with a mic right now mike does not exist for himself mike exists to serve communicators those who want to communicate there is a camera right there in my front a camera does not exist for himself once anything becomes self-absorbed and self-serving it loses his purpose and his reason for
16:27 being in existence everything is created to solve problems for some other person look at nature i think about the sun the sun has been there for billions of years it does not rest every day the sun generates billions of quantums of solar energy ask the sun do you insulin energy no do you consume solar energy no do you need light no he is the source of light why are you then producing this amount of energy on daily basis oh because all the plants and vegetation
17:14 need it they need it for photosynthesis all the human beings and the animal kingdom need it if the song withdraws his light the earth will be frozen and every life will perish so because of that the sun is busy day and night you know when we think it is nice that the sun has gone to rest we forget that the sun is servicing another part of the world another group of customers the sun is working 24 hours a day 365 days a year and it has been delivering these services supply no solar energy supply knows
18:02 light supply not warmed for for billions of years the sun knows his purpose and has never failed in delivering it the problem we have is with human beings everything exists to serve i look at the rivers they pump out billions of gallons of water every day every day they do it in rainy season they do it in dry season and then this river will begin to pump this water and flow it through many villages many communities many cities and in some cases many countries
18:48 till it finally gets to the ocean and then the water flows into the ocean and circulates up again through the underground pump to bring fresh water again now ask the river do you drink water no why are you pumping billions of gallons of water every day do you need irrigation no so you are not pumping this water for yourself yes why are you doing it then because the whole of the animal kingdom needs this water to stay alive the whole of the plant kingdom needed to stay alive the whole of the human family needs this water to stay alive there are many communities
19:36 many cities that are depending on this water to stay alive the aquatic life from fish and the rest of them depend on this water so the river understands his purpose that the reason it exists is to serve and it keeps delivering the value i see that with every aspect i look at mango trees they produce hundreds of mango every year sometimes thousands every year once the season comes you see the flowering and then the fruit starts and then the thing gets right ask any mango tree whether he eats mango no ah you don't eat mango yes why are you laboring and producing all these mangoes
20:22 because the birds eat it the animals eat it the human beings need it and so that's why i live and exist to provide these services for humanity for the animals and for the birds everything in nature exists to serve i think about mothers who we get pregnant and then produce breast milk the mothers don't drink breast milk the mothers don't eat babies and then they go through all this pain of nine months go through the pain of delivery to give life to another person you see service
21:08 and it doesn't end with betting the child then another hard work obvious journey begins for the next couple of years that probably goes all the way to 25 years to nurture this child these young kids the adulthood people ask when actually does the job of parents and does it end when the kids grow no does it end when they get married no the nature of the work changes but actually the responsibility does not lift till the end of your life and that's why you notice like we read in first chronicles i first king chapter
21:54 12 the hell that advised the young king rehoboam the young leader serve your people first then they will become your servants forever you sow the seed of service first as a leader but you repeat for a lifetime they become your servants forever that's exactly what mothers do and parents that do it well they will gain the loyalty of those children for the rest of their life is this not what jesus did for you and i he came died for us served us first laid his life down for
22:42 us and what now happens now he has my loyalty forever he has my service forever they told the young king if there will be a servant to these people this day and we'll serve them and answer them and speak good words to them then they will be your servants forever we're trying to find from the model of jesus effect principles for effective leadership this is what it is that we need to learn all of us all of us the power side the lion's side to leadership who are dressed after that and i'm sure somebody will bring some teachings on that in the course of this whole conference
23:30 but the foundation for leadership is being a lamb a lamb leader and then you move it all over to a lion leader lion king glory be to the name of jesus let's let's look at that scripture where jesus taught on southern leadership matthew chapter 20 verse 25 to 28 and then i'm going to come back to first king and end he noticed that here the 12 disciples were having problems because two out of them came looking for uh they started playing politics in in the
24:16 ministry and they wanted to seize the office of the vice president and who knows maybe the prime minister the mother of james and john came to jesus with his two sons asking that these two boys one would take their right hand and the left hand they wanted power they wanted position she wants influence for her children and you can tell that those children must have discussed with their mother that's their desire and so they now came to make the request from jesus and jesus said that's not it if you look at the answer that he gave them and jesus actually uh the other 11 disciples or 10
25:04 disciples when they had what the other two did god very angry with those other two in other words they themselves also wanted the same thing they all wanted that power they all wanted that position the choices and the most recreated position in ministry and this is what we face in church politics we face it in society we face it in the companies we face it everywhere we who are called to be influencers and leaders coming from the kingdom of god must show a different model of leadership and here is what jesus said jesus called on to call them unto him they called the whole to have and said
25:50 you know that the princes of the gentiles exercise dominion or authority over them and they that are great exercise authority upon them so in the world in the gentiles what they understand is the lions model of leadership just exercising dominion and authority over people and when all you are is a lion you become a saddam hussein you become a gaddafi you become a sunni a badger you become an idea meaning ministry you become oppressive you become aggressive you won't be a people person
26:40 you will pursue vision at the expense of your people you will use people to a complete vision the principle of balanced leadership is love people don't use people when you love people then you can mobilize them to accomplish whatever goal that is before you and them so there is the pursuit of vision pursuit of goals on one hand but there is balancing it with care and love and service to the people you know that the princess of the
27:26 gentiles exercise dominion over them what they care about is power and of course their own interest they don't care about anybody we see it in our society they just care about winning an election the moment they get to power they don't care about you they don't care about anybody and some of us in spiritual leadership behave like this we need to bring the lamb and use it to balance the lion and we need to bring the lion and use it to balance the lamb verse 25 verse 36 and he said to them it shall not be so among you for whosoever will be great among you let him be your minister
28:11 and whosoever will be chief among you let him be your servant many years ago i read this and i said this doesn't make sense how can a leader be servant what what philosophy of leadership is this i didn't understand it i didn't understand the principles so i i kept it on one side it took some years after you know in those days when i get to this part i would just read it and pass but i do understand what he was talking about it took so years after before the lord opened my eyes he began to dawn on me the what the power of servant leadership actually means what he can do in an organization in a nation in any system
28:59 verse 27 it shall not be so among you whosoever will be greater among you let him be your minister or servant and whosoever will be chief among you let it be your servant verse 8 28 even as the son of man came not to be ministered unto but to minister and to give his life as a ransom for many even as the son of man came not to be ministered on to but to minister and give his life as a ransom to for many he two principles of servant leadership is revealed here one is service the other is sacrifice when he said he gave his life as a ransom he offered his life he sacrificed
29:47 his life for our redemption but first of all he served he took our burden and our interest at heart so we see service we see sacrifice we're going to find about five major principles of sovereign leadership in a minute i'm going to be bringing them all together so jesus is teaching us to follow his model and in his model we serve we sacrifice but what did the elders tell solomon's son rehoboam the people will now serve you and be loyal to you forever you sow this seed first you know i've been in ministry for
30:33 about 32 years or more now and i'm wondering when last did jesus give me money i do crusades i do all kinds of conferences no i raise all the money to do whatever he has asked me to do when lastly pay my my uh etiquette and flight ticket and all that i'm talking physically now like no he first served me laid his life for me on the cross now he is reaping service repeal loyalty and reaping sacrifices for me and i'm sure that something is going on with every one of you the lord is now reaping
31:20 the return of his investments that's what every leader is supposed to do there is that period when you invest first when you're pioneering a new church pioneering a new work you have to know the face you are in when you meet people for the first time when you enter into people's life first don't go there to make demand first go there to make deposits go there to add values first when you meet customers first when new believers come into the kingdom new souls are one into the kingdom that's not the time to start making so much demand on them is the time to first make impacts and and add tremendous values on their life now after that that ministry can
32:08 now reap dividends of loyalty dividends of service dividends of sacrifice and of course i dare say even financial returns customer service goes first adding value to people goes first serving people goes first making impact on their lives goes first seeking to see their life change and improve is the first thing that drives every authentic minister then the rewards and the returns will follow after that's what mothers do the life of a genuine pastor the life of a genuine leader is like the life of a real mother you
32:56 care for the children first you don't start asking for profit offering from a one-year-old child two-year-old child you don't start telling them you have not contributed to the running of this house you have not contributed to paying the bills i know you are still crawling but you need to get up and go and walk and walk no no no what you do is that you sacrifice first you serve them first you're the one serving these mothers cleaning cooking doing all this even buffing them washing their clothes then as they start growing you start teaching them service more small they start helping in the house then they start growing in it they start assisting and finally they grow to adulthood where
33:42 they come to look after their model after their father they come and buy you a car build your house that's how it is ministry so when you are starting in minutes don't compare yourself with somebody who's made the journey who has paid his dues somebody who has served who has paid his dues and the lord has exalted him and the lord has rewarded them with dominion with influence with wealth don't go and be comparing yourself with him you have to know where you are because he's driving a jeep you want to ride a jeep he now has a mighty auditorium you know like apostle you know apostle of this commission for example he has paid his dues for years until today he's still paying look at all that he's doing to serve the
34:29 ministers of of god to serve the body of christ somebody that is just coming up you want to be like him overnight it doesn't work like that then you go to your people and start oppressing them that they have not bought you a jeep that they have no beauty or cathedral is that oppressing a new church that they have not you know build to your house you start oppressing your people you become like some of these corrupt politicians we have in our country the bible say woe unto you all land when your princes and your leaders eat in the morning but blessed are you all land where your princes are sons of the noble when they eat in the evening you see in the morning it's time to invest
35:14 time to label even it's time to reap what our leaders do is that they eat in the morning they eat up the time for work the time for added value they turn into time for feasting time for harvest no no no no harvest time is what comes last planting time is what goes first that's the principle of southern leadership you nurture your people you grow them you build their capacity you seek their well-being then in return is their turn to look after you and of course in the course of raising them you have to also teach them they are responsible just like leadership is taught followership
36:00 is also taught and if we teach one and leave the other there will be problem just like leadership is thoughts followership must be taught you need the balance to create a healthy organization grow repeat in the name of jesus now i'm going to bring the lessons from first king let's go back there first of the kingston from verse six and seven and the lessons from uh matrix of the twenty together and give us the basic principles five major principles of sovereign leadership and king rahuban consulted with the old man that stood before solomon his father
36:47 why he yet leave i said how do you advise that i answered these people and then they said to him they expected him and said if you will be a servant to these people he's the leader that serves first he's the leader that seeks the well-being of the people first is the leader that adds value first and we serve them and we answer them the leader initiates communication and then i speak good words to them the leader learns how to talk to people how to carry the people along with communication with these words if you master this then they will be your servants forever of course you know
37:32 in the story that we are reading that this young man did not follow the advice of the elders so what happened i'm going to read for you how he ended up he answered the people roughly told them you know use harsh words on them and all that told them if my father finger was this thick my own would be three times thick as he was talking about the level of burden he was more interested in revenue collection in raising tax in getting people to work in accomplishing vision than in caring for people so what happened go down that first king go down to verse
38:20 15. let me show them what happened to the young the young ruler and when people come to leadership newly they have to be very careful if it's a place where the people have had a great leader and then a church is handed over to you a business is handed over to you an organization is handed over to you you come in a new sea or a new senior pastor or a new parish pastor or a new you know executive director of a department a new cell leader be careful don't go and start with authority the people were loyal to the past leader because of the investments he made in them they were loyal to him because he served them first because of the impact the values he added to their life and now
39:07 when you come you want the same level of loyalty that's what is going on with this young man he wants the same level of loyalty as his father but he hasn't given value to the people he was supposed to start by thinking about how to add value first communicating with the people finding where he can be of benefit to them and then he will gain loyalty like solomon and even greater level of loyalty but now he wants to start with power commanding people oppressing people you know forcing things on people and that's why sometimes a church that is big you see people living a lot of people live let me read what happened verse 16. so when all israel saw that the king listened not to them
39:52 king james said hacking no to them the people answered the king saying what person have we in david neither have we any inheritance in the son of jesus to your tents oh israel now see to thy own house david so israel departed to the attack you see this guy lost 12 tribes of israel he lost 10 of them actually 10 and a half that by the day you can imagine you are giving a new church and you lose 10 over 12 of your members almost 80 to 90 percent of your people in one day this is a new leader coming into leadership you can imagine a business that has a large customer base they bring you as you see most of
40:38 the customers switch to another business why and look at what the people said verse 17. and as for the children of israel we do it in the cities of judah rehoboam ruled over them so only the tribe of judah stayed loyal he lost the rest verse 18. then king rehoboam sent a doran who was over the tribute you see tax was this man's problem and all israel stoned him with stone that he died therefore king rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot to flee to jerusalem and verse 19 said
41:25 so israel rebelled against the house of david on to this day now you see what happened he sent the tax collector the revenue guy to go over and start mobilizing revenue he had told the people that he's going to increase tax he's going to increase revenue mobilization he's going to increase their level when he send the guy the minister of interior or the minister or you know the guy in charge of a revenue collection the people stoned him and killed him that day they even almost killed the king himself he entered his chariot and took off back to the capital city and the whole house of israel rebelled against the house of david and only the tribe of judah because they are from that
42:10 particular tribe stayed with them you see i wish our political leaders will learn this when the people are crying to listen to the people there are five principles of servant leadership number one is to have love for the people that you lead that's why god is the greatest leader he loves us for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that's why jesus is the greatest leader that ever lived because this is leadership that is motivated and driven by love that's the first principle to see
42:56 people as people to care for them to feel what they are going through and then love will be the starting point for developing your policies to developing regulations for developing whatever program that you not lf fund white elephant program developed in the white house in a government house that has no implication no connection to the needs of the people the starting point for servant leadership is love for your people to have a concern compassion for the people that you lead number two is to now develop a vision based on need assessment so you see in the first principle where
43:42 you have love for people that principle now leads you to a second principle called need assessment means assessment means go and find out what they are going through what their state is find out what their state is find out the challenges they are facing find out the needs if it's a society the needs in that society the needs in the church the needs in the community where the church is planted the needs of the customers you see that as a second principle and out of that you develop the third principle which is your vision and your goals i want to repeat them you start with love for people
44:29 care for people burdened for people if you don't have it ask god to give you love and passion for people love for souls boredom for souls boredom for the people that you lead voting for the people in your community then number two is mapping needs assessment go and do a survey of the market do a survey of the community do a survey of the church and really find out what the people are going through what their needs are find out what is going on carry out some mapping and the way you do it is by getting feedback from the people you have to go and talk to them that's what the others were advising solomon so
45:14 talk to the people communicate with them listen to them and then from that needs assessment situation report market analysis you now develop your vision and your goals that's the third principle developing your vision crafting a vision and a goal what you want to accomplish with your leadership leadership is utilizing power and position and the resources in it to drive vision to pursue a corporate goal goals that include the people
46:01 you see what happens now is that when a leader comes up with a vision and a goal the vision includes the people it includes their needs it's a vision of how to take them from one level to another a vision is a picture of a preferred future is a blueprint of how to take your people from here today you've seen that future now you have to help them understand it okay the next principle of servant leadership they told solomon's son go back to first king chapter 12 verse 7.
46:46 he said if you will serve these people then if you speak to them listen to them if you answer them and speak good words to them then they will be your servants forever so the the the fourth principle is communication you have a vision you have some good plans you have programs that will help you have projects that needs to be done communication is the way you transfer the vision to the people to the point that they own it now and they're wrong with it as if it's their own communication is like it what a husband does in the bedroom to impregnate his wife you want a baby but you transfer
47:32 that spam to the woman and when the woman is pregnant she carries the team for nine moons pay the price in the maternity to bring forth that child that your child that your child and when the child is born you say my son oh my my son yes that's how with this intercourse called communication you can impregnate your people with division you can impregnate them with the goals you can impregnate with the same burden in your heart and then it creates a marriage between leadership and followership between leadership and the team it is this communication that helps you generate a powerful team that will help you accomplish the vision
48:20 servant leadership is not only you know um very deep or you know vast in the art of communication but also learn how to speak good words to the people how to say that thing in a way that the people will buy it and i'm going to come back to it in a few minutes so these are the principles when you now communicate communication must now lead to service delivery to solving problems to meeting needs and to also making sacrifices for the sake of the people so because jesus said is service and sacrifice and service and sacrifice the son of man
49:07 came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many service and sacrifice that's i'm talking about the fifth principle the first is love for your people the second is needs assessment understanding their needs and what is going on with them the third is crafting the vision and the program you have for them the fourth is communicating that vision and that program to them marketing it to them the fifth now is going into execution delivery of value delivery of services getting things done execution of that vision execution execution execution execution
49:52 rendering services solving problems delivering value and what would be the result the people will become your servant forever three things will result the people will be mobilized to become committed in that organization and committed to that leader what do you mean by that they become lawyer you gain the loyalty of the people you gain the commitment and the loyalty of the people as a leader and whenever a leader has the loyalty of his people and their commitment anything is possible you can accomplish any vision you want to accomplish
50:39 because that's when the money starts flowing that's when they come volunteer that time that's when they will volunteer their talents that's when they can volunteer anything to help you get that vision accomplished that's the first thing that you gain the second thing you gain is that they become your servant then they are ready to die for the vision they will sacrifice they will serve they will do anything they will volunteer they will do whatever it takes the third is then they will be willing to sacrifice they'll be willing to give and make whatever other sacrifices that is necessary to see the vision come to pass they will be ready in some cases to even lay down their life for you as a leader because you first lay down your life for them
51:26 you see how it works at this level now you can accomplish all those things you want to accomplish at this level now you don't have to do much the people will do it you see once a woman is impregnated by the man is the woman that goes on carrying the pregnancy is the woman that goes through the pain in the maternity why the husband loves her and provides her support that's what happens to your people when they are impregnated with the vision when they have vision buying but at the beginning is the leader that makes the sacrifice the first move but then he's going to repeat good measure press down shaking together running over now before
52:13 i go off if i sign off i want to answer a major question that many leaders are having how do you mobilize your people to be committed how do you communicate the vision to get the people to have a buying how do you do it to get loyalty and commitment because a lot of leaders are having problems they have church members they are not committed they are not giving they are not serving how do you do it okay i'll show you the how by using the example of two leaders in the bible joseph was a great leader after him he was the one that took the
53:01 children of israel into egypt and he was prime minister in egypt for many years then after him was the man that brought the children of israel out of egypt and took them to the promised land his name was moses let's compare the leadership style of joseph and moses when joseph was a young man just like rehoboam the young king and he saw a vision that he was going to be a prime minister in egypt and he saw the vision that he was going to be a leader among his own brothers he went to communicate it with them he told his brothers i saw where 11 stars were bowing down to me
53:49 his brothers understood what he meant they began to plot how to kill him that day he went to his father and told the father the same thing he said i saw the moon and the sun the sun and the moon plus the 11 stars bowing down to me the father asks him so you mean i and your mother and all your brothers and you are the last one we bow down to you that's what happens to young leaders immature leaders when they come to power they talk about power they talk about what the people will do for them they talk about how they will load it to other people they will talk about the the glory the world the money the influence the power and what they create is disloyalty they cause rebellion with that
54:34 of course in the case of this young boy the people almost killed him the people he's meant to lead his brothers finally somebody advised them not to kill him they sold him into egypt what went wrong here you will find out when moses stone came moses after having the encounter with god at mount sinai because moses also started on the wrong foot you know i don't want to go to that yes but after being in a desert for 40 years he has matured he has learned when he came back to deliver the people out of egypt do you know what he told
55:20 them he said the god of your fathers has sent me but he was the same god that said joseph he said what has he sent you to do he said to bring you from this place of suffering from this land of bondage onto a land flowing with milk and honey do you see that to get the people to buy you show them the picture of a preferred future there are three principles i'm going to show you now a picture of a better life better life for them not better life for the leader don't talk about yourself talk about them focus on their needs focus on what they
56:06 are going through you've seen them that are in bondage they are suffering they are in poverty you cast a picture of how their life will be better by your leadership the people will leave everything and follow you and of course three million people left egypt died the rotten fellow and followed moses out of egypt while the other case the people wanted to kill their leader you can see in solomon song's case that they stoned the tax collector and killed him and almost turned the king what is going on here show the people catch the vision that includes a better future for your people number two principle when you are casting a vision
56:52 show the people what is in need for them what moses was showing them is a land flowing with milk and honey he said where you eat bread without scarcity where you know a land that the lord cared for but of course in deuteronomy chapter 8 and chapter 11 when he finished painting the picture i even if i if i was there to i would pack my bag and follow this guy anybody that would take me to this kind of place that's the leader i want to follow you see the power of servant leadership how it works show them what is in it for them not what is in it for you when the people feeling listening to joseph what they saw is how this guy is going to be loading over us this last born is going to we are going to be bowing to
57:38 him bow into him for what but when joseph has matured many years after god brought his his brothers back and they met him in egypt he was now the prime minister his vision has come to pass but the man has changed he has now matured he is humble now his style of leadership has also changed look at what he told them he said don't worry don't feel bad that you sold me it was not you it was god that brought me here so that he can preserve your lives because there are actually seven years of famine coming he's going to decimate life all over the earth god brought me here so that i can
58:25 preserve you he has made me a prime minister i can use this position to make your life better to empower you guys to make sure that this far mind does not affect you negatively do you see what he's doing now that's what he should have done at the beginning if he had told these people that the vision god showed him is that he has he has seen the future where he's going to be a prime minister in the land of egypt and that there will be farming that this family was going to harm his brothers but god is sending him to prepare a way to save them the people who have helped him to buy tickets they will tell you what can we do to help you because this thing you're saying is very important so you can save us the people who will be looking for a way to help him accomplish that vision
59:12 so that because their own life is at stake show them what is in need for them and you will see the best compression from people when they see that it's not just you the leader that will benefit that in helping you achieve your vision they will also help themselves arrive at their destination they will help you and lastly explain to the people why don't just tell the world tell them why let me give you a story a group of people were standing in an atm machine there was a long line they were waiting to pull money out of the machine and it was a long queue
59:57 and you know how nigerians can be so everybody was there waiting for his turn and people were impatient and then a woman came in at the back she was you know looking depressed but she didn't tell anybody what was the problem she just rushed towards the front and tried to join the line in the front trust nigerians the people lambasted her some almost they pushed her out some threatened to beat her including her fellow ladies including women you would think in that situation okay women want to protect her because she's a woman no everybody was angry people were frustrated and you want to beat the line and go to the front they gave a one woman pusher on the floor
1:00:44 when she fell on the ground she was crying she now in turn and said to them my little daughter my only daughter just passed out this morning she is at the point of death trying to rush her to the hospital it's just taxi money i'm trying to get so i can pay the taxes to rush her to the hospital we don't even have the money to even pay the hospital bill i just have small account here and that's why please all of you should forgive me i did not mean to insult you or to be rude within one second the attitude of everybody changed some people were now crying somewhere i apologize some people went and lived there there people said
1:01:29 offering harm on you people they didn't even allow her to get they say go somewhere saying go and be the first in the line all that said some study dashing harmony before she she got not only the taxi money she got the hospital bill then somebody offered to even drive her and left the money he came to collect and offered to go and drive and pick the girl to the hospital the same woman that pushed her down went and lifted her up what made the attitude of the people change in a second when the woman explained to them why in leadership why is more important than what [Laughter] why is more important tell the people
1:02:16 the purpose why you want to build that church show them how this building will affect the children's apartment will help our kids then why you want to build that school show them how this school will affect their life will improve their life improve the quality show them how you know it will include the moral climate of our young people the role is going to contribute in the society and then you see that most of the people who are fighting against you or who don't want to help will change their attitude at least even if they won't give they will not fight the project and those that are busy talking all kinds of things will stop these are the principles of surveillance this is coming to the people following the model of jesus as a lamb
1:03:01 i'm trusting god one day it won't be this year anyway or talk about jesus as a lion how to exercise dominion and influence knowing that an army of sheep led by a lion will conquer an army of lions led by a sheep one man with courage one man with god is the majority god bless every one of you who have come from everywhere to be part of this year's conference god bless all of you that are connected from all over the world and god especially bless you apostle samson for what you are doing for the body of christ year in year out and your hands have never grown tired thank you sir and thank you
1:03:48 first lady for being the keeper of the flame the hand that holds the man that holds the road thank you ma and thank you every faithful leader in this ministry that is helping to make it happen god bless you i'm hoping that maybe 20 next year that will see face to face in the conference god bless you [Music] so [Music]
