01 teach us something and especially when going through something like burnout our body and our mind is so much wiser than you think it's constantly trying to communicate with us hey actually I don't feel great doing things this way and so when you experience something like burnout instead of focusing your attention on I can't believe I can't get my tasks done or why do I not have the energy to do this why do I give up so easily instead you need to remember that this is your body's way of saying I think we need to try something a slightly different way burnout is now your opportunity to gain so much new knowledge on how you really feel and how you should progress forward when it comes to your relationship with your personal life and your work life and how to balance both you continuously beat yourself up for feeling in such a normal way when your work and your too list and all of the things you have to balance in
47 your life consume you but instead of running away from it you need to embrace it because this could actually be the start of something so good the start of setting boundaries in your work life the start of putting a stop to this endless need of perfection and showing up for every other person but yourself and maybe instead the start of your real self-care and self- Lov Journey filling your cup burst and learning how to live a different type of life that puts your happiness and your fulfillment in the front of it fact number two you have so much value that your productivity is like the least interesting thing about you burnout starts because our entire value is wrapped up in how much we feel we are able to accomplish you are killing it in that field absolutely but you are good as you are without needing to get or achieve anything regardless of having one week off or 6 months off
34 because you feel like you just can't give anymore you are still whole and worthy and deserving of everything you could ever want defining yourself solely based on your ability to complete tasks meet deadlines or hit certain metrics is such an inaccurate way of viewing your self-worth and when your self-worth and productivity become interlined you are going to experience this intense identity crisis which actually in its true form is burnout because somewhere along the way you got lost in tying up your self- worth and value in success rather than our true purpose and true goal as human beings which is to create as much happiness and joy on a daily basis you are worthy of love and happiness regardless of how much you achieve in a day or in a year and it's time you finally did yourself the favor of telling yourself that it's okay to
19 take a break that when you wake up every single morning the goal should be how can I have a good day today that anytime you make a singular decision it's based off of I did this to make me feel good about myself to inject some Joy back into my life to romanticize my life rather than I need to do this to show up for everyone else to be perfect and to be the type of person I'm supposed to be rather than loving myself for who I always have been fact number three burnout keeps growing with monotony you turn your alarm off in the morning you get out of bed you get ready you head to work or school you do everything in your to-do list for the day you head back home you clean up you do your chores you make sure you're checking in with your friends you make sure you're being good enough you make sure you're communicating with your family you make sure you're being a good type of partner to your other half you run all of your errands you respond to emails you make sure you're responding to texts you make
05 your dinner you clean up you watch something on Netflix you go to bed and you relive that day over and over and over every single day with not a single thing changed because life all of a sudden has become about completing a to-do list getting things done trying to get closer towards your goal which is so beautiful and so impressive but not when it's at the expense of your joy and experiencing everything this life has to offer which comes about in spontaneity in making mistakes in failing and learning from them in trying new things and in stepping outside of your comfort zone challenging yourself is such an important way to avoid feeling overwhelmed because exhaustion and burnout and overwhelm comes from doing the same things we're doing every single day and trying to be perfect at them but when you start stepping outside of your comfort zone and challenging your things and doing things you've never done
50 before the goal isn't perfection because we know we're not likely to succeed at things the first time we try them instead the goal becomes about the experience about actually living rather than surviving which is what we've been stuck doing for so long which is what got us to burnout in the first place when you're doing the same repetitive tasks day after day without any opportunity for growth and learning and inner self-discovery you're bound to feel burnt out and it can honestly be the smallest thing like changing up your appearance walking a different way home buying a new cookbook and trying new recipes for dinner switching your night routine to reading or spending time Outdoors rather than watching the same TV show every night switching up your rou routine will make such a drastic change to how you feel about yourself but it starts with prioritizing yourself scheduling that time and moving things
37 around to make sure that you can actually give that opportunity and time to yourself four it's time for recontextualization a lot of people think that endless to-do list or their high workload is the core reason for that burnout but girl I'm here to tell you it's not the to-do list itself it's what you associate with the to-do list it's how you feel and think about the to-do list which then in turn influences your self perception as a result of that to-do list looking at a to-do list and getting your tasks done is one thing looking at a to-do list getting your tasks done and then using that to influence whether you were good or bad that day is a completely different thing which drains you and robs you of your energy and self-love every single day and it's so unkind that we do this because we associate what we got done as to whether or not it was a good or bad
22 day or how worthy we are of success as individuals based on how well we were doing that day without ever taking into to account what were our energy levels that day how are we doing emotionally and mentally that would then influence how much we could give to a certain task we never give ourselves that space and that compassion instead we treat ourselves as if we are robots we constantly want every single thing to be perfect and continuously set unrealistic high expectations never giving ourselves enough free time taking every free hour in a day as another opportunity to be more productive or be more to others that the pressures that others give us and the pressures of society and where we want to be in our fears and our scarcity mindsets and all the overthinking is really what's causing the burnout it starts with the mindset you attach to the workload and the to-do
09 list not the work tasks themselves five take small steps it's easy to fall into the Trap of thinking that the key to recovering from burnout is to complete everything is to be perfect is to keep doing more and more and more and stop being so lazy and stop procrastinating on our goals right wrong burnout is really a resilience issue and it's a confidence issue by taking certain tasks one step at a time you can slowly show yourself that you can do these things that you can be consistent every single day once you take the perfectionism the results and the metrics out of it beating burnout is not going to be solved by taking a holiday because the tasks are still going to be there but changing up your schedule and telling yourself I'm just going to do 20 minutes of emails if I don't finish them that's absolutely fine and then repeating that every single day gives you that sense of
55 achievement and hey I'm actually showing up for myself every single day if I don't have the emotional capacity that day or I'm not feeling my best I'm not at my 100% then it's okay to leave this task unfinished but the point is that I showed up for myself which then creates this resilience which burnout makes us feel like we have none of because we're beating ourselves up over the fact that we couldn't show up that day this where you're tackling bur out at the source rather than running away from it and you can finally find the healthy balance in your life that separates work and success from personal Joy six you need to ask yourself what really aligns with your values your purpose and your Ambitions in life and what brings you Joy a lot of the time we experience burnout because we are constantly working towards and chasing something that doesn't really mean much to us and
40 when you're tirelessly working towards something you don't fully believe in or experience joy in of course you're going to feel so overwhelmed and drained every single day because it facilitates the feeling of having no control over your own life you are giving all of your time and all of your energy to something that isn't really serving you back when you focus on the things that energize you and actually feel meaningful to you you will feel a complete shift in your life and this doesn't need to be a huge thing like quitting your job it can be committing some more time every single week to your creative passions and hobbies to really prioritize focusing on your happiness and your desires rather than meeting everybody else's seven it's always in the journey never the destination there are countless studies online that show something called arrival fallacy which is when we
26 actually don't get the expected satisfa action and Joy from meeting our goals but actually it was through the Journey of getting them the Journey of growth of motivation of improving every single day becoming someone we never thought we could be that's where all the joy lies as human beings we are wired to want to constantly work towards something to achieve things to build and yes of course it's going to feel tiring on some days but getting the thing is just going to end up making you want to start building a new thing and so instead of attaching all of your happiness and this idea of fulfillment and success to to the very end goal you need to start appreciating the progress and where you are now and the days it's taking to build the thing that's not to say that every single day needs to be perfect and smiley and rainbows but it's also in the days where you feel sad where you don't
12 know if you're going to make it where you feel like you have nothing left to give and yet a few days later you get up and you keep on doing it and you know that's going to happen because you're sitting here right now watching this video to get yourself through feeling such a difficult emotion the type of emotion that robs you of energy to do absolutely anything and yet here you are still showing up for yourself trying to find your way out to the other end so you can get back to your life and becoming the best version of yourself and giving yourself everything you could possibly want in the past every single day that you struggled or didn't know if you were going to make it through or didn't think you could be happy again or succeed again you're still here right and you're still doing it and every single time you thought you didn't know what to do you ended up finding the solution and guess what that's just going to keep repeating over and over and over throughout your life so please
59 take a look around now to appreciate how many hurdles you've already overcome and use as reassurance in all of the hurdles you know you're going to continuously overcome you need to prioritize shifting your mindset to appreciate your progress and all of the small wins rather than fixating on all of the progress you haven't even major eight it's time to let go of the hyper Independence the weight of the entire world doesn't need to just fall on your shoulders there are so many people out there that are waiting to help you but you haven't even told them and so they don't know how but but for a lot of people who are alone and maybe don't have a support network to lean on you can be that support network for yourself by regularly taking time for self-reflection to journal how you're feeling so that you can actually process your thoughts and emotions and get them out of your system and onto paper so that you're not constantly
45 carrying around the weight of all of this emotional baggage creating your own routine and studying how it affects you every single day and then instead tailoring it to your needs and once again to your happiness rather than your to-do list remember that you are worthy of love and leaning on somebody else's shoulders but also you are capable of being able to offer that help to yourself as well nine since when did being self-critical become part of our daily routine burnout and harsh self- judgment basically go hand inand and so in this phase of your life self-compassion is always going to be the way out we already know burnout is a perfectionism problem it's like every single day I have to make it to work I have to make more money I have to stay on top of my fitness I have to eat better I have to be a better friend I have to check in with this person I need to provide for my parents I need to be a better partner I need to check in with
32 my siblings I need to look better perform better do this do that you are so busy being so kind to everybody else trying to be everything to the world to work to people and yet where is that kindness to you if you take just that little bit of kindness that you're so busy trying to give to everybody else it will actually help grow your self-belief and kick out the burnout as a result when you're gentle with yourself and you shi yourself talk to you did your best today with the 50% that you had that day day or the 100% you had that day then you have this motivation to move forward because you know at the end of the day you're still getting that love from yourself when you are constantly judging yourself and criticizing yourself for how lazy you are or the fact that you can't believe you're procrastinating again and other people are out here doing it better than you what's really going to keep you moving forward and
17 finally 10 what does Burnout mean to you there's usually this common definition of burnout thrown around about it just being so exhausting and having no capacity for everything and everything irritating you and you needing a distraction from the things that you used to be able to so effortlessly do but the truth is burnout is different for everybody sometimes it grows because we feel this immense sense of guilt for not getting the thing done other times it's because we feel no matter how much we do and no matter how much we achieve it's never quite enough and there's always something else to achieve there's always more progress to be made that we rarely take time to celebrate ourselves for all of the progress we have made on the other hand it could be that we never feel enough or that time is running out and we're never going to get a an opportunity again and you feel like you're racing and racing and chasing
02 that it takes it all out of you whatever the case is you owe yourself the kindness of looking deep within and assessing where this burnout is coming from and why it keeps growing because of the mindset and perception you have of it when you understand the way that it's causing you to feel and perceive yourself only then will you be able to start solving it and understanding what your body and mind have been trying to communicate with you this entire time and then you get the opportunity of growing and and healing from this burnout experience to then create a more informed and tailored routine on how to live your life in a way that suits your needs and prioritizes your energy and happiness and that brings us to the end of this video I hope you guys enjoyed it I hope it gave you a well-deserved sense of comfort and reassurance that you truly deserve during this time burnout
