Perfume Forms Explained: Oil, Spray & Bakhoor

Brief Summary

This video explains the differences between perfume oil, perfume spray, and bakhoor, and when to use each. It also covers alternative methods to diffuse perfume oil, such as using a diffuser, creating a room spray, or incorporating it into candles. The video further distinguishes between carpet fresheners and air fresheners based on how the product disperses.

  • Perfume oil is the most concentrated form of scent, applied directly to the skin for an intimate fragrance experience.
  • Bakhoor involves burning scented wood chips or powders to release fragrance into the air.
  • Perfume sprays mix fragrance with perfumer's alcohol for application on clothing and in the air.

Intro

The video introduces the topic of different fragrance formats: perfume oil, perfume spray, and bakhoor. It sets the stage for explaining the distinctions between these products and their appropriate uses. The speaker invites viewers to learn about these differences.

Perfume Oil

Perfume oil is the most concentrated form of fragrance. It's designed to be applied directly to the skin, creating a more intimate scent experience. To appreciate it, someone needs to be quite close to you.

Bakhoor

Bakhoor involves using scented wood chips or fragrance powder, often sandalwood or agarwood. These materials are placed on a heat source, which slowly burns the oil and releases the fragrance into the air. This is one method to diffuse the scent.

Perfume Spray

A perfume spray is created by mixing a fragrance with perfumer's alcohol in a bottle. When sprayed, it disperses the scent onto clothing and into the air. This is another way to spread the fragrance around you.

Alternative Diffusion Methods

Besides the main methods, perfume oil can be used in a diffuser by mixing it with water. The resulting mist carries the scent into the air. Alternatively, you can dilute perfume oil with water to create a spritz for carpets, curtains, or fabrics. It can also be added to body mists or candles, where heat releases the fragrance.

Aerosols vs. Carpet Fresheners

The video differentiates between aerosol air fresheners and carpet fresheners. Aerosols, when sprayed, release the fragrance upwards into the air. Carpet fresheners, dispensed through a pump, release a heavier spray that falls downwards, making them suitable for carpets. The key is to get the fragrance out of the bottle and into the environment.

0:00 Have you ever wondered what's the difference between a perfume oil, a perfume spray, and a bakur? And when do we use each one? Come with me and I'll let you know. In a perfume oil, you're going to use that as the most concentrated form of a scent. There's nothing else that'll be stronger than a perfume oil. That's going to be an a a scent that you put on your body, preferably on your skin, and it's more of an intimate smell. Somebody has to get real close to you to appreciate it. And that's going to be something that you keep on you. If you want to get that scent into the air, there's a couple different ways to do it. You can use bakur, which is going to be soaking wood chips or some kind of scented powder or fragrance powder,

0:47 right? Preferably, they use sandalwood or some kind of agood form. and you'll fragrance that powder or wood chip and you'll put it on a heat source and the heat will start burning the oil off of the wood chip slowly and getting the fragrance into the air. That's one way to get the fragrance out there. And another way would be a spray, a perfume spray. So, you'll put it inside of a bottle and you'll mix it with some perfumer's alcohol and you'll spray that and it'll spritz onto your clothing and that's another way to get the spray onto the air and onto yourself. Bonus other ways to get fragrances out there would be to take the perfume oil and you can put that inside of a diffuser, put water in a diffuser, a basin or what have you, and then the mist that'll come up will come up with the perfume oil and it'll

1:33 get into the air. Another way people would use it would put it in they put it into a spray bottle and instead of making it a concentrate as a perfume with perfumer's alcohol, they'd put water in it and water it down a bit and put less oil concentrate and make it a spritz for like the carpet or for curtains or for fabrics, right? And that'll be another way that you can get that perfume oil out and about. And another way you can probably do it would be to possibly put it inside of like a um a body mist or a candle, right? A candle would be another way where you'll kind of use a heat heat source to get the scent into the air. So you can use a heat source which is going to be a candle. It'll also be like a diffuser or a bakur or you can use a pump which would be a perfume spray or a perfume um

2:21 not a perfume but a a body mist kind of thing or a carpet freshener kind of thing, right? Other people will put it in a compressed container and they'll aerosol it, right? So, they'll put it into the air. And the difference with perfume, I'm sorry. The difference with an aerosol and a carpet freshener would be as follows. Give me one second. If you put it in a pump like this and when you squirt the little nozzle, can you see how it's sinking to the ground? You see it's the the the fluid is kind of falling. So that's going to be more for carpet, right? But when you put it inside of something like this, shake and you spray it, you see how it goes up to the air? That would be an aerosol. So

3:08 that's an air freshener. And that's a good indication of where you would put this fragrance. The essence of this would be the main goal of this would be to get that fragrance out and about. You want to get it out of the bottle out into the general public, right? Whether you're going to put it on you and as you're walking by people will smell it or you're going to put it into the air somehow. Hopefully that helps.
