1:32 it was on more um but i thought digimon was always cooler so i i'm the contrarian though i think i think we're all in the same vein when that goes when i'm quiet that's when you guys are supposed to talk well i thought you're gonna ask like leave a second nope i was just expecting you to pick up once i quieted down say like okay i've said my piece huh sorry um i kind of have the same background with digimon i watched some of it as a kid probably not all of it though and then as like probably a first year

2:19 in college i probably watched the whole serie first series like all the way through so i don't have a huge knowledge on digimon but that's about it yeah i uh have watched the whole series as a kid um and then and i was pretty religious with it whenever it aired i remember i would ask my mom for my tv time to be around you know usually digimon so and the movie i watched several times as a kid it was probably one of the rare movies i've ever repeated in my life watching um and uh yeah and then i played a lot of the video games even as well

3:05 so i collected some of the cards so i was a pretty big uh digimon fanboy even back in the day i definitely had some cards as a kid that might have been cards i got from you ben and then i also got some at like the church picnic that was like the second generation of digimon cards say different backs and everything and then uh joe you and i play the current digimon card game whenever we hang out and i i mean i've un i've uh i've streamed opening packs of digimon cards so um and then i just started playing uh cyber sleuth like last week and i am hooked it's i keep i keep digivolving stuff and it's

3:51 so cool yeah um though i was gonna say i will reiterate i watched all of digimon adventure one um in college sometime i don't know like six years ago and i got yeah we actually did that together we did yeah i don't remember doing that together i know i watched like half of digimon 02 i got to the point where like they were you know the new people were able to devolve into champion level like i remember ex v mon showing up um the but like that's kind of where i fell off we're currently chefs and are currently watching through digimon 02. um we're at the we're at the point where

4:38 they go on the quote-unquote camping trip so wizardmon has had his episode that was like an episode or two ago and they're just like we're gonna be in the digital world until we defeat the digimon emperor that's their plan right now um and then i've watched like maybe the first two movies of digimon try though i don't remember the second one very well so maybe just the first one which i need to watch all of that at some point but at this point we'll finish two first oh and i've seen some of tamer's the third season but not a lot so um joe do you have a favorite digimon and it's okay if it's not gomamon it's it's actually

5:24 gosh um so i i uh like uh dukemon a lot uh i would have said maybe a few years ago uh jesmond when he made his big debut um hackmon into just mon was was up there uh he was just really edgy and cool um but i've always had a in season three the um the uh graumann line into dukemon i really just enjoyed that he had a dark evolution um i've always enjoyed that aspect of your that digimon could did you evolve differently based on like the tamers emotions which is something they've been true to um i

6:11 thought it was one of the cool aspects instead of like pokemon where it's always so consistent um i thought it was so neat that based on their emotions or their characteristics at the time could affect their digimon in different ways so is is dukemon different than gallant mon no dukemon and galaman are the same but different translations yeah yeah okay okay cause like i i'm remembering now i actually had a gallant action figure that i don't think i realized was a digimon at the time it was just some cool thing that my grandma bought me at dollar general so yeah i had a grandma action figure that i i had all the way up with me till like college and i think my mom finally threw it out but

9:13 we're all biased against this movie i love it if i'm giving it an objective review i would probably give it a six but i love it so i'm giving it a 10. uh chef do you want to go next yeah uh i would say probably agree with johnny except objectively i would give it still just a seven i think oh you're seven i thought you were gonna give it a four no i if i were like just judge it based on its quality it's probably a five or six but i enjoyed it so it's a seven my only issue was that i didn't really care about the third act because i don't know those people yet so i never remember the third act that's one of my notes i never remember what happens in the third act i always remember the abortion um

12:18 uh so movie starts and you would assume it'd be a digimon movie nope we get an opening of angela anaconda which is what is the early 2000s animation animated show like even like i don't i know what you call that animation style yeah it's like made of like the the faces are all like actual photographs of like little kids like black and white photographs of little kids and they just like move it yeah and they've got weird blocky bodies and whatnot that very limited animation but like i don't know anything about

13:05 that show i just know that it existed and that i don't think it was very good no i never liked it as a kid they do remember shorts but i don't they just do like a short bitter about her going to watch the digimon movie in theaters and whatever and then after that then we get into the actual movie so this movie has basically three different story lines uh the first one is we get a basically of what you call a flashback yeah i would call it a flashback they say like eight years ago but like they say the second part is also a flashback to four years ago so that they can have it take place in the uh digimono 2 timeline at the end oh okay i got you

13:52 anyways uh ty and it's kari right yeah okay tai and kari are little kids i think they say kari is like two or three in this yeah she's real young and she's like a genius for being a two or three year old she not really she can talk that's i i know some two-year-olds i know a two-year-old i should say and they can sort of talk but their older sister when they were two or three was really verbal so anyways so their little kids they somehow run into a digi egg that hatches i don't know the names of those little baby ones but it eventually turns into an agumon they take care of it trying to figure

14:38 out what it is and then it slowly evolve or digivolves fairly quickly eventually into a greyman as it evolves into a graeme on a parrotman shows up and fights greymon on the streets of japan greymon eventually beats paramount and disappears but not much else there's just like 10 minutes of them fighting also i don't know if they say in the movie but i'm pretty sure in the show it's mentioned that this is like the first time they all like first saw digimon right yeah this is this is basically what i think it's implied that this is why they be they are the ones who became the

15:23 digidestined because they saw the digimon that first showed up um also the the baby form is called uh botamon and the form after that is koroman and then it's agamon and it should be noted that this is not actually the agumon that yeah that we meet later and becomes his partner that is that is how come on in this is huge yes like this is like a big augment like aquaman normally is like a yard tall he's like three feet tall the sagamon is like eight foot tall crushing machines yep yeah yeah no they

16:08 they explicitly say he's like this is not the agamon we run into once we learn that it's a giant one it's like that kind of this is a normal sized quarterman but um that that was the first part and then we cut back to technically four years ago what you said yeah it's like slightly aft a little bit after when the series or season ended so do you know the time frame i mean yeah it would have been it would have been after digimon adventure one and like like almost right after because like kari is a digidestined in this and so you know it can't take

16:53 place before obviously and in adventure 02 like there's a we just had an episode where yo lee flashes back to like oh yeah i sent a bunch of emails in the diabolo mod fight um so you know it's uh you know since it doesn't take place in adventure 01 and it doesn't take place it clearly takes place after of intro two it's got to be shortly after because the ages are all the same so anyways uh we discover digi egg is on the internet yep um i think it's later alluded that willis was like the one who created it that's what they said that's not in this yeah

17:40 sorry that's not in the sub that's but that is what they say in the depth that i wanted to make another digimon and it turned into diaboromon but yeah they discovered digi egg on the internet it gets a virus and then it like starts causing havoc on the web uh it like eats a bunch of data i think it causes all the telephones to go crazy yep stuff like that yeah i think you can get actually i have a note here it's like they answer the phone call and it's like it's talking to them and it's like is is diabolomon the first robo caller well they keep calling it the blind is like sorry all phone lines

18:26 are busy they do it like three times and then the phone lines just like i said we're busy give it a break or something like that yeah i mean the i don't know i was gonna try to watch the sub and like watch the original movies uh i didn't get around to doing that but like the the little jokes they add in like they're so dumb but i love them like ty's mom's cooking is that in the sub i don't know but it's that is that is the charm to this movie it's humor yeah because it's like not great humor but it's like funny enough to like get it i'm just not i'm just not supposed to recognize what that what's going on with that humor as a kid cause i don't remember that as a kid but it's it's my favorite part as an adult so

19:13 oh i mean i remember as a kid the the maybe there was something just about my mom's cooking that was relatable and it was just the most comical part whenever i watched ty saying is he you are a brave man and then later on in the movie it comes back to kick his he and oh man it's just i mean i'm gonna i'm gonna go off on a subtangent here i wrote down everything that type's mom said that she was going to make sure she's got liver sticks a beef jerky shake a wheat germ cake potato juice spinach cookies three bean salad but only with two beans they ran out of the third bean and uh squeezed onion juice

20:45 it's different evolutions but that's the only one i remember uh sorry man is the one right before diaboromon um and he jumped he skipped the um he skipped the champion stage he went straight to ultimate so we didn't get a c now i can't remember i've got all the cards but i don't have them in front of me i was gonna pull them out but i didn't do that but yeah uh is the entire trying to stop them they get agumon and tintamon onto the internet to try to stop him uh ty's trying to get a hold of all the other digidestine but they're all busy what is it joe's taking a test yep matt and tk are at their grandparents

23:04 and gabu manch come to help um they try to beat diaboromon but the abortmont's too strong slash what is it they're too slow because they're getting too many emails yeah they're getting too many emails so like greymond can't get the power from the digivice from tai because their internet is so slow or something so he like freezes up and then um the whole world is like oh weak he threw in the towel at the end come on greymon you pleb uh at this point i'm pretty sure izzy broke into like security like internet or like satellites so that they could have stronger internet yeah got his satellite up like

23:52 hacked attack the government um so yeah diaboromon defeats metal guru man and wargreymon i think or the ones right before him um and then i think he pulls the summer wars and points and nuke at them right yes uh two two nukes one going to willis in america and one going to their neighborhood according to the uh though there might that might have been a change it might have only been one in the sub because we only ever see one missile so um they probably didn't have footage of one in america because it didn't exist they might not have been allowed to do

24:37 that maybe um but they somehow ty and matt are able to just like go into this sucked into the internet which and that's happened that's the basis of digimono one they were sucked into the digital world from the human world the internet is not the same as the digital world but you know whatever it's power of friendship and then they make my boy my lovely boy omnimod and then they combined to make omnimod who was really cool and i want to be his friend i think the coolest maybe the coolest moment of this movie is like when he just like pops out his sword yeah yes you're just like oh crap this guy's awesome i mean diabot has made like

25:23 millions of copies of himself too yeah so they they just start like blasting them by the tens of thousands at a time um and then there's eventually only one left but he's too quick we gotta we gotta be quicker than that so so uh with the help of dial up email uh izzy forwards all the emails to like diaboromon and it slows them down enough to where omnimod can defeat him yeah so people all over the world are are forwarding emails to to them to like show support and they're like [ __ ] it it slowed us down maybe we'll slow him down let's forward it to at the abortimon at diaboromon is great.com see ya bore him on 69

26:08 xxx yeah um and it works and then for whatever reason that means that the nuke is going to land harmlessly in the bay with the exploding so that's how nukes work yep sunday's work um summer wars they didn't have a nuke they were crashing a satellite and he was gonna crash it into a nuclear power plant that's what was happening in summer wars yeah and then he said no i'm going to crash it into you instead yeah [ __ ] you i still control the satellite chaining a trajectory to you um we'll talk about some awards in the comparisons in a little bit but we should finish up with part three of the movie um which i'll kind of take control i guess okay i mean i know that like the

26:55 gist of it t car and tk go to new york for something they run into willis who's a digidestined from america and he's like running slash trying to catch up to this corrupted digimon that he had i don't know names again come on i think oh yeah it's kokomon and he's got a um he's got a terrierman which is uh you know we won't see a terrier mom in a regular thing until until tamers which is a whole nother universe so it's kind of cool that he's in the movie um i forgotten he was in the movie as well because when i got the dvd that i ordered it came with a like a poster and i'm like why the hell are there two terrier mods

27:41 on this poster i mean people who make this poster not give a [ __ ] and just put it on there and i'm like i don't know terryman's in the movie [ __ ] me i guess i got it wrong uh so he's there and then he's got a twin his twin brother cocomon he's a big boy now who apparently is corrupted by the same virus that theoboromon had according to this according to the dub i think it's a different thing going on in the sub and they hear him say like go back so willis is like well i guess i'd better go back to where this all started my hometown in colorado or whatever it is and uh he's like don't follow me tk and kari i got to do this alone and they try to follow him and fail

28:28 they get on a train to go follow him kokomon like derails the train or stops it in strax or something um so they call the other o2 digi destined and uh yo lee is like i've got an uncle who can give us a flight and then a another uncle who can give us a cab ride and uh i don't know it's like a i thought it was a fairly humorous bit where yeah she's got a lot of uncles um they catch up um kokomon is digivolved again they're fighting him um gatomon and patamon like warp did you evolve to the

29:16 mega form and they released the golden digi eggs whatever those are we haven't gotten that far in the show so it's just kind of a i guess they've got gold and digi eggs that uh v mon can use to golden armor digivolve into magnamon is that right yep and then there's like time travel things are happening and they're little kids and time distortion or something eventually they're just like i love you and then it clears the curse and then he's able to to turn back into an egg or something and he's not going to be evil anymore uh but he's still going to be a big cocoa mon i think am i getting anything wrong

30:02 it's been about a week and a half so and i it's the part i'm always the foggiest song because i never remember the third part yeah so uh it's a little weird or i've always like i went back and like even thought about because also terriermon gets a golden digi egg and becomes rapid mon that's right which is his ultimate which is just kind of weird because magnum on is a mega and it's like golden rapid mod so i don't know if that's like a megaphone but i always thought that was unique um but regardless then uh pretty much the go back though they realize isn't about going back to a physical place uh kokomon is trying to tell them to go back in time to to beat the first virus

30:48 that was started um that's that's kind of caused all this and the virus is what caused deb uh diablo or the bottom line thank you um and then it is now infected uh cocomon and so then they get swallowed up and destroy the first virus and that purifies pokemon and uh then he's healed and he becomes his purified form and that's that's how the movie ends yeah they're like i remember they're like yeah kokomon's back buddy singing out of tune or something like that's that's the last shot of the movie i think so um and it's they really butchered the last third of

31:35 the movie they cut out like half of it to get it to fit in the continuity and to squeeze in a shorter run time so that parents didn't have to be in the movie theater for that much longer um i read a review that somebody had at the time the digimon movie released where they're like that's better than pokemon but it's not a good movie i'm like as much as i love digimon i think the pokemon movie the first pokemon movie is a slightly better movie at least it's more coherent it's not three movies frankenstein into one um just that last part just seems out of place yeah and again it sounds like that's because they just shoved it in there i'm trying to think when i first watched
