00 Hey, what's up, guys? Are you sick and tired of all of those problems that you've been having with your Amazon Fire Stick lately? Well, guess what? You're not alone. A lot of people have been having the same issues. And in today's video, I hope to fix all of them for you. Whether it's you're having an issue trying to download an app and getting a certain error code, or you've been able to download the app, but you can't watch any of the movies, or maybe you are watching the movies and you're experiencing nothing but buffering. If any of this sounds familiar to you, well, continue watching this video because I'm going to solve all of your issues in just a few minutes so that you can get back to enjoying those apps, all those movies, and all of those TV shows

45 that you love to binge-watch. All right, guys. If you're ready to learn, let's begin. >> [music] >> All right, so let's not waste any time and jump right in to fixing all of these issues with your Fire Stick. The first thing I want to do is check out some of the settings. The easiest way to get into the Fire Stick settings is just to push left on your remote till you're on that hamburger menu. It's going to bring a drop-down menu, and we want to slide all the way down to the bottom and click right there where it says settings. Now, right here you're going to have tons of different categories that you can go through to adjust different settings. There's only a couple of them that I

31 want us to go into today. Now, the first one that I want to go into is My Fire TV. Now, if you click right here where it says about, you're going to be able to slide down here and check for updates. Guys, this is one of the most important things that you can do for your device to run the way that it should. All you have to do is click the button. It's going to check for updates, and my Fire Stick is up to date. Just check yours. Make sure that there's not a bunch of updates that you forgot to do, cuz that's going to be probably the number one calls that things just don't work for you. So, we're going to back out of this. And we're going to hit back one more time. The next thing I want to talk about is a lot of people have issues downloading

18 apps. And a lot of the reason is is because your little tiny Fire Stick just doesn't have any more space to download anything else. So, instead of it telling you that, it gives you some kind of weird error code. So, the easiest way to fix this is go over here to your applications. Click on manage installed applications. And I want you to go through this list. And I want you to find some apps that you say, "You know, I really don't use that, and I can't remember the last time I did." Kind of like this one. So, that old unused app that's just taking up valuable space on your Fire Stick, just click on it. Then you're going to have the

04 opportunity to uninstall the app. So, go ahead and click uninstall, and click confirm. Now, you're just freeing up more space on your device, so that now you can create space to download those new apps that you want to try out. So, continue to go through this list, and be honest with yourself. If you haven't used the app, go ahead delete it, and make as much space as you can on your device. All right. So, let's go ahead and talk about some other settings that we can adjust. We're going to go back. We're going to go back again. So, the first one here is your network. Now, there's not many settings in here that I want to talk about when it comes to your Wi-Fi. That's going to have a lot to do with where your router is

49 located in your house. So, if your router is on the top level in the back corner of your house, you might have issues receiving a network signal to the basement or vice versa. I can't tell you how many people tell me, "Hey, why does this work perfectly fine in my living room, but I have issues in my bedroom?" Well, I'm not here to judge who has issues in their bedroom or not, but typically it's because the bedroom is a lot further away from the router than the living room is. And the network just can't reach. Now, you have the option of trying to relocate that router to a central location in the home that can reach all corners, so that way it can provide

35 Wi-Fi equally to all of your devices. Or you can try running the Ethernet cable from your router to your device. Fire Sticks have a great adapter so that you can plug an Ethernet cable right into your Fire Stick. Just look on Amazon for a Fire Stick Ethernet adapter. I'm sure you'll find one that works. Now, speaking of your Wi-Fi, your network, and your connection, a lot of my viewers have been commenting that they're having weird errors pop up while trying to download the apps from my personal app store. They're getting things such as parse error, TLS packet header, or a handshake failed message. All of those really kind of sort of mean

21 the same thing. That your own internet provider is blocking access. And guys, I always in every video that I talk about, I always recommend that you connect to a VPN. Now, try to turn your VPN on and download the app. If that doesn't work, turn the VPN off, try to download it again. If it still doesn't work, try to disconnect your Amazon Fire Stick from your home network and connect it to the hotspot network on your cell phone. Just by switching the network, most of the time, this is going to allow you to download those apps that you're getting those messages from because it's technically a network error that is

07 happening while you're trying to do this, and a lot of the time, it's your own internet provider giving you that network error because they're blocking this type of content. So, another thing I want to address is the Fire Stick itself just having really slow performance. Now, I want to show you a few settings that you can adjust that will drastically speed up the performance of your Fire Stick. And most of them are located right here in the preferences section. So, let's go ahead and click into that together so we can adjust some of these. Now, what I want to do is right here at privacy setting. We're We're going to click on that. And it says manage the sharing from apps

52 is the very first thing. We're going to click on that. Now, right here is turned on, and it says it makes it easier to continue watching your favorite shows and things like that. Now, if you really like your watch list to be up-to-date and you use the Amazon Prime Video and other things to watch, then maybe you don't want to turn this off. But, personally, I don't use those features, so I'm going to click on it one time. You can read what it says on the screen, decide if you want to turn it off. I'm going to go ahead and click off myself. So, we're going to hit back. Then, what we want to do is right here where it says device usage data. It says right here, personal data is collected by the operating system. I don't want them to collect my data

38 because that's just more information that my device is sending to Amazon over and over again. So, if I want to make my Fire Stick run faster, I want to delete all these operations that my Fire Stick is communicating with Amazon. So, I'm going to turn this off. Again, read the stuff on the screen, and if you want to do this, then go ahead and hit turn off. Again, collect app usage data. I don't want that on, either. So, we're going to turn this off. And then, we want interest-based ads to also be turned off. Okay? So, I think that's all that we need right here. So, we're going to click our back button just one time. Because we need to slide down here

24 to where it says data usage monitoring. We're going to click that. And right now, it's turned on by default, but I want to turn that off. All right, we're going to click back. Notifications settings. Now, if you want to turn notifications on or off, that's completely up to you, but I don't really like notifications. So, I'm going to take this right here that says do not interrupt and turn it on. All right, we're going to hit the back button one time. Now, the featured content. Now, you know when you come to the Amazon home screen, this area right here, how if you select it, this will automatically start to play, you'll hear it, you'll see it moving. Well, we're going to change that for you

10 to make your Amazon Fire Stick run faster. And we're going to go into preferences. And right here, under featured content. Right now, by default, it's turned on. So, we're going to go ahead and click it one time and turn it off. And we're going to turn the audio portion of that off, also. I know sometimes I've left my TV on really loud, and then I just hit the power button, and all of a sudden that ad starts blaring way louder than I'm ready for. So, I really like to be able to turn that off. All right, we're going to hit the back button one more time. And guys, there's another setting right here that it doesn't really help your device run any faster. It just

55 makes everything look a lot better on your screen. So, what we want to do is we want to click on display and sounds. Now, you have the a bunch of settings, but I want us to click where it says display. Now, right here on my color depth. Now, by default, this is set to 8 bits. Now, I have a brand new 4K television that, you know, is beautiful. I'm pretty sure that it will process more than just 8 bits of color. So, let's find out by clicking on it. Now, the highest that we can go is up to 12 bits. So, we're going to click on it and see if our television will accept the setting.

41 And yes, it does. So, if you see that this sign, just hit click confirm. And now we're able to enhance the colors of our TV Fire Stick right here. All right, so the next one I want to do is calibrate in display. A lot of people tell me that the screen's too big or the screen's too small, something's cut off. This is how you're going to fix that. So, you're going to click calibrate display. And it says, "Adjust your display so that the best full-screen experience." So, if you push up and down on your remote, the arrows should be completely visible. If you look, my arrows are cut off. So, I need to push the down arrow to make them smaller because the arrow should barely touch the tip

28 of the screen. Just like that. You see, my screen was set by the Amazon to be too large. I had to shrink it to make it all fit within the picture. So, now that we have done that, we're going to click accept. All right. Now again, that wasn't that wasn't anything to make your Fire Stick run faster or smoother or better. That's just me wanting it to look better. Now, there's one more thing I want to go over with everybody to make their system run the best that it can. And I want everybody to hit the home button really quickly because I want to go to the Amazon Appstore and look for just one app. The easiest way to do this is push left on your remote one time. You're going to be on the magnifying glass and the keypad's

15 going to pop up allowing you to type out the app that you want to look for. Let's go ahead and search for this app right here together. Okay, it's already appeared on the list. I don't have to type all of that out. Thank God. So, let's go ahead and slide down this list. Right here is the exact app that we're looking for. So, we're going to click right there. It's going to take us to the Amazon Appstore to this app. Make sure that you download this version. All right, so let's go ahead and click on it. It's now going to give us the ability to download this just by clicking our center button one more time. All right, and we're just going to give it a few seconds to finish installing.

02 Once it's done, it's going to pop up. This is an amazing app because I can't tell you how many times I've left apps running and I completely forgot about it. It's just like your computer. You want to go play a game or do something on the computer, but you have 25 different tabs open in the background. So, obviously, that's going to slow down your device. This will find everything running in the background for you and you're able to close it out so that you can have all of the attention to the app that you're actually using, not all of your power of your device running stuff in the background that you're not even looking at. So, let me show you how easy this is. Up at the top, we're going to slide over

47 and we're going to click where it says close all apps. It's going to take you to the very first app that it has found open and running in the background. What I like to do is click force stop, come down here, click clear cache, and that's it. Now that we've forced the app to stop and we've cleared the cache, we're ready to move on to the next app. And the way that you do that is you just click the back button one time. And see, it will bring up the next app that it has found running in the background. Again, we're going to force stop, we're going to clear cache, and we're going to click the back button to move on to the next app. And you just want to clear cache and force stop on anything running in the

34 background. Now, I'm sure once you do this, you're going to find stuff running that you thought was closed a long time ago and is just taking up valuable space of on your device. So, go ahead and click the back button. Again, force stop, clear cache, hit the back button. Force stop, clear cache, hit the back button. And when you're done closing all the apps that were running, it'll bring you right back here to this screen. Then, you can click the home button on your remote. Well, guys, I certainly hope that your Amazon Fire Stick is running much better now that you followed along with this video so that you can make sure that your device is up to date, you're deleting all those old unused apps, creating more space, and making your

22 entire device just run better by turning off all of those communications between your device and Amazon. If this video has helped you and now you're able to enjoy those movies and TV shows buffer free, you're able to download those apps that were previously giving you errors, I would love it if you were to say thank you and hit that subscribe button. It really does mean a lot to me. It tells me that you guys like these videos and that you probably want to see more things like this helping you get the best out of your entertainment. All right, guys. Well, thank you so much for spending your time with me. I hope to see you again real soon in my next video.
