0:00 [Music] say hello to the 2025 Moto G now this is a $200 budget phone that feels pretty premium uh what they've done here is they've got a pretty decent design on it and it's got the vegan leather on the back that they're known for that they put on a lot of other phones like their foldable their flip phones I like that a lot so whenever I took this of the box I'm like okay this is pretty cool comes in two colors it comes in a gray and a green color sorry gray Gren and a blue color it's Forest gray and sapphire blue this is a forest gray and it's pretty neat got the Motorola logo right in the back you can see the camera setup on the back there looks like it means some
0:46 pretty serious business for a budget phone this phone is $200 comes with 128 GB of storage and 4 gigs of RAM and and this is really interesting because what they've done is is they gave you 4 gab of built-in stor built-in Ram but then they've got a RAM boost that borrows your actual storage space and doubles as more RAM so uh it's one of those things where it's been around for a long time uh even since like the days of Windows 95 and 98 if you didn't have enough RAM you could have it used some your conventional storage as extra Ram space now the problem with that is is it's not as fast as your normal Ram so it can use use it but if you get to that point it's
1:32 not as fast or as smooth as your normal Ram I wish they would have thrown six gigs in here but 200 bucks only go so far in the year 2025 let me tell you so uh 6.7in display it's 720 720p it's HD Plus so it's not full HD but I really don't have a problem with that at this price point I don't think anybody buying this phone will have a problem with that either it looks nice it's sharp enough it's good for watching video one thing I do like is it does have a mat massive 5,000 milliamp battery this is a more than one day phone right if you can kill this phone one day you're a boss it's got good battery life and like I said 6.7 in display HD Plus 120 HZ refresh rate though which is better than some of the competition you look at the Samsungs I think the A14 or maybe the a16 I think
2:18 they have a 90 HZ refresh rate don't quote me on that and then it's got a 16 megapixel selfie on the front take some okay shots you get your regular shots you get your portrait shots and you know I've taken a couple of them this is a portrait shot that I took in my kitchen this morning I mean that was an all right shot this is the non- portrait Mo mode um fing my face weren't so fat but I was surprised like I took this shot of my wife's bouquet cuz I buy her flowers all the time this one's got some sunflowers in it they turned out actually looked really good I mean this is an up close shot of the sunflower so I will say that the camera on here actually takes better shots than I thought the selfie I was pretty impressed with and I took the shot out my backyard with some light yesterday so yeah as far as far as the selfie camera goes I think it's pretty decent especially for the price and that's
3:04 probably going to make people who are looking for this phone very happy and then like picture of my blue healer out in the backyard as long as these cameras have decent lighting I don't think you're going to be too disappointed now they don't shoot 4K video but surprise the screen isn't 4K so if you're if you got a 720p full HD screen 4K video is not something I think you're going to be worried about but it will do 1080p at 30 frames per second so you've got that going for you now on the back you've got a 50 megapixel camera you got a 2 megapixel macro now normally I love macro cameras but I think last year most people learn most manufacturers learned a 2 megapixel macro is not the most helpful camera in the world some people might like it it might be something your kids are like oh let me go take some cool pictures of ants or whatever highly
3:50 dependent on lots of light and I would have rather seen like an ultra wide or maybe a telephoto to help out with that but anyway uh the the phone itself what you really care about in this department is performance now you're going to get two years of operating system updates three years of security patches so it comes with Android 15 out of the box which I've been pretty happy with Android 15 looks and feels all right and then you're going to get two years of operating system update so you're going to get Android 16 Android 17 one extra year of security patches Motorola does by monthly they don't do monthly security patches but that's something that I mean even their Flagship models is pretty much the same so I don't think that's that big of a deal USBC charging 30 watt charger so it charges 30 watts and then it's got a headphone jack which is going to make some people happy so plug in your headphone jack if you got your your so
4:37 wired earbuds wired headphones that's cool it does only have 128 gbt of storage they do have a 64 gig model I would be very cautious about buying that I'm going to talk about that here in a second because we talked about this earlier in the video if they use shared storage for extra RAM and you only get 64 gigs to start off with and Android already use a couple gigs of RAM like you're not going to have a whole lot of space to work with there if you could you could take away eight gigs of that right so 64 if you have 8 gigs of RAM boost on is going to be 56 so just think about that you're not going to be able to install you're not going to be able to install or save a whole lot of stuff on the phone so that would be my concern I wish they had a 256 model but 128 I think this be fine for most people especially in this department and especially since you can
5:22 throw an SD card in there right and that gives you extra space up to a terabyte so if you want to use this for a machine you want to download this watch a lot of videos you want a phone that's going to last a couple of days you want a good phone for your kids it can do some gaming like very light gaming you're not going to be able to run ginin impact maxed out on this thing you're not going to be able to run fortnite maxed out uh maybe on the lowest settings it might be playable but more of the like easier games mediocre games stuff this doesn't like require lots of 3D rendering it's probably going to be more of your bag if you want to use this but as far as day-to-day stuff definitely go in the settings and I'm going to show you how to do this so so to to by default the ram setting is on AI RAM boost and it defaults with 2 GB of RAM that's not enough I mean Android uses a pretty
6:09 decent amount of RAM and here's how Ram works just so you know if you notice your phone starts running kind of clunky a little choppy that means that you're running out of ram because it's running out of places where it can use this uh available Ram space to load things into memory and that slows down the performance on the phone because it's got to figure out what can I close what can I optimize right uh it needs to be able to have free amounts of ram to do things on the phone like open more apps if you got a couple of apps open it's never going to be that much of a problem because 4 gigs is okay if you load Instagram you want to load Pinterest you want to load Boom Beach you want to load YouTube whatever that's going to be fine but if you load a whole bunch of stuff then it's going to start drawing on that extra storage space and then that's when you might run into some performance issues so if you notice it
6:56 starts getting clunky just go like swipe up see what's open clear all or close some of their apps and it'll it'll instantly get smoother but here's how you change the settings so you go down in the settings so swipe down twice go to settings once you get in here go all the way to the bottom where it says system then performance last option tap on RAM boost so when you get into RAM boost by default it's going to be on AI Auto it says using AI learning optimize memory use up to 8 gabes you want to put that just straight up on 8 gigabytes now it's always going to be using 8 gigs of RAM 8 G GS of storage dedicated for extra Ram but thank me later it's going to make the performance of the phone better so do that it's going to have you restart the phone no big deal now Biometrics you've got a fingerprint scanner built to the side which works out pretty well motor roll is pretty
7:42 good at that by now they use the the side fingerprint scanner in a lot of phones it's got also facial recognition so you can use facial unlock that works pretty well too especially with good lighting and then you've also got as far as features it's got IP 52 dust and water resistance which is basically meaning don't throw it in the water don't drop it in the water just keep it far from water uh which out and about like you're not going to have most problems unless it's raining really heavily put it in your pocket you don't want to get it soaked but microphones are okay call Quality is decent speakers are surprisingly good very loud you get actual stereo speakers on here it's not just one so that's nice you get Gorilla Glass 3 which I was actually really happy to see cuz Gorilla Glass 3 is my most favorite gorilla glass of all time
8:28 because it was back from a time when they cared about keeping you from getting a lot of scratches on your screen as opposed to shatter resistance I've only ever broken in one screen from dropping it and messing it up but oh boy have I got a lot of scratches on a lot of screens so Grilla Glass 3 very good with surface abrasions it's very good at keeping those minimal scratches off now it's going not going to protect it from like deep scratches and things like that look around for a screen protector you're going to be limited on cases and screen protectors but check Amazon you should be able to find something and overall I think for the price it's a pretty decent phone you get 5G it's got Wi-Fi 5 it doesn't have Wi-Fi 6 or 7 most people are running Wi-Fi 5 so uh there's not a lot of people in the seven Department yet there's some people in
9:14 the Wi-Fi 6 category you get basic 5G you get Wi-Fi 5 you get basically everything that you need here to do whatever you want to do you just don't have this is not a flagship phone so for a person like me I'm not the target audience for this phone but if you need a decent $200 phone good for multimedia stuff good size screen good speakers decent camera and should last you for a year or two especially with some decent software support then yeah I think the 2025 Moto G is probably going to make you happy just be careful as you go to the carriers like you'll see you'll probably see this at Metro by T-Mobile or maybe Cricut or somewhere I don't know what stores they're going to have it in they might sell the carrier model but of course they might also give it to you for free or something like that so there's some trade-offs but just so you know be be wary of the 64 gig model just
