1:31 talking to somebody and like the satoshi slipped out and i'm very self-conscious about the whole ash satoshi thing so i was like i was telling some friends like yeah satoshi and then like char star being lessardro is a snake so i let this slip and people are like who and i was like it's the japanese name it's like no his name is ash i was like it's stupid in english there's no translation for his actual name they're like no his name is actually japanese too i watch it i was like i'm telling you yeah speaking of japanese because this movie has yet to get a release date for the us we had to watch this one we have to fly to japan we flew to japan to find the one theater in small town in tokyo that was playing this movie during colby i need you to like and comment on this video because i can now not afford to

5:22 they're gonna change all this oh absolutely because they always they always change the songs would you look so i'll go in and say because so this is the first movie that we've had to watch in japanese i think up to this point you're the only one who watches them in japanese um but this one because we don't have a us uh release and again we flew to japan to watch this one um because we don't talk about any other reasons so yeah we watched this one in japanese which i thought was really really cool and fun and i'm wondering if all these movies have suffered from their for kids-esque english dub and i want to see what secret of the jungle is like in english there's a scene where you guys say something and i was like that's not even part of the plot [ __ ] and then i remember you guys are watching in english and that happens with anime all the time where yeah like uh high school txt

6:09 if you watch it in english bro it goes a completely separate route than the japanese but they use the same scenes and everything stays the same but it's the way it is yeah so there's times where you guys will say something i think i pointed it out every time when i'm like when did that happen because yeah yeah but i can't let dante can i talk about this movie yet because i need to see them come at each other later but uh chris how did you like secrets of the jungle ah so i genuinely adore this film i cried three times three times to see where where so uh yeah dude like because like my whole thing and i am a sucker for the parent that's protecting the child and like that whole

6:56 storyline just like tarzan except kerchak was an [ __ ] yeah like unless we watch it in japanese is kerchak just the shittiest rude that was like get the [ __ ] out of my tree he's the like buff one at the beginning yeah the big one yeah so for like me like this i had like an almost perfect blend of using pokemon for the versatility and people involvement the way this movie unfolded beautiful yeah i genuinely adore it it's yeah i agree john what'd you think about it uh i'm can i say the placing of this movie for me on my personal list sure okay so i have it a lot lower than it should be it should be a lot higher i have it as number 10 and i feel like it should be a lot higher however

7:42 oh yeah i loved it um no i said i should be a lot higher but i have that number 10 however the ending i like the ending a lot more or no more i like the ending of this and i think that the theme that tarzan had which was the identity crisis that he developed right you know in the middle of the movie this movie did it better and ash for the first time ever i'm glad he's in a movie because ash was the reason he was the plot point to for he led yeah i'm not a pokemon essentially and it was pretty cool um i usually hate ash's involvement and i think this movie was very well done so i'm not going to complain about ash one do you know why you like it because ash was a [ __ ] side character

8:28 coco is the main character well i also noticed that uh apart from actually you actually in this new reboot series series ash has been the side character island issue he's been decided he was in power side characters had too much screen time yeah yeah and i think that if they keep going with this formula it's very it's very well done uh animation-wise this one we had the best one i keep saying that every time we see a new movie but the dog when they do the fights and they go from like that's cgi but it's like it's a it's a mixture of it's a mixture of 2d and yeah oh my god where were pikachu's charging the iron tail and they're just like i came up

9:59 live without one i'm like [ __ ] i'm glad i got it as rude from john because this is such a cool [ __ ] phone so i got him and uh i remember seeing the trailer the japanese trailer for coco and i was like oh there's an eight pokemon you know another one and then i ended up getting him in the game and i like them a lot and then i finally watched the movie and like i already liked them and design-wise who's really up there but seeing him this way i'm like oh yeah he's he's up there for if i had to make a list of pokemon he's easily like very high for me like design wise i know for sure top ten i'd have to sit and like look at my list but as i think of always it's like kyogre lugia yeah and then it's kind of giratina is like three and then i kind of shift between the rest i can easily see somewhere between four and

14:35 they both loved it i saw where they both ranked it on their personal list because i have them all accumulated now um and because i was talking to connor about something else today and he was like can i a little concerned like dante might not like it and i was like i'm gonna [ __ ] with can i but they both like ranked it the same they both and he's like okay cool so i almost put us my number five right and then i was like but i really like this one scene in this movie so like my problem with my top 10 specifically is that it was like oh i like this scene more than this scene so i started ranking and then like i saw it go for my number three which is what it was and it started climbing down yeah because of scenes and it's number ten i was like i feel like i should be at least six at least here's the thing that i'll i'll say about like my overall thoughts in the movie and i i i actually got a little

15:21 worried yesterday because i was just like hmm where did i oh where where this is is it justified to where i placed it are people going to call me crazy for replacing it where i placed it because i'm just used to that at this point and then like i did there are what i would say problems roughly with what i think of the movie um it has kind of like that same issue of okay well the bad guy is who i think it is like immediately from the get-go and they try to spin it in a way but like this movie has the situation of there's a lot of things that i kind of expect to happen but it plays off in such a way to where the thing that i expect to happen feels justified and i feel good about it i'm

16:07 not sure what the what the what the active terminology and the conundrum is but there's certain things as an audience member where you think oh this should happen and when it does happen you feel fulfilled yeah and i had a lot of that with this movie even though like i wouldn't necessarily say that there was any like super big twists in this movie i don't really think i needed it yeah one of those things where you thought you were expecting the worst and the worst that happened but they did it right yeah so yeah i mentioned in the in the last episode we were talking about like the plot for detective pikachu and like the villain stuff really kicks off in the last like 10 15 minutes zaru does a great job being like we start we meet our characters they get a little exposition and then like the villain kicks off and does their thing like right at like the middle point of the film so then the latter half is like we

16:54 gotta get together solve this and there's a whole thing that's rude talking about pokemon and you know how they feel about this route as a race or a species whatever you want to classify it as and how they then resolve the issue i'm like this is great this is good nothing's like shoehorned into the scenes of coco and like pop off through uh communicating yeah was so good very well done without having to actually you know yeah portray it it was so beautiful which one of my absolute favorite things of of the movie is that whole beginning sequence of the montage of babies yeah because like i was like i was like this was i was like oh so weird is becoming a father like when he was like rocking him to sleep then he goes to sleep wakes up and then he's just holding us to land it and everything's on fire

17:39 like it was it was so adorable one uh one of the best things about this movie is that it is obvious who the bad guy is the minute you see him you're like oh okay he is dressed completely different than every other researcher his hair is weird he's got the glasses he's a pokemon bad guy so like yeah you're like okay but it does that weird thing where you're like oh he's like a gray area bad guy like he's trying to advance humanity and he needs this water to do it and then slowly it's like no he's just really [ __ ] good at hiding it yeah and like progressively it gets easier and easier to just dislike this man sorry oh i'm sorry you go dante um this particular villain uh plays off of a lot of kind of similar villains that we've seen

18:25 in past movies and i think this one's actually pulled off perfect like perfectively yeah i i think of people don't people probably agree with me with this but i think of zero and i think i think of my issues with zero as a character um and uh the mewtwo returns with similar situation of healing water and they try to get it i'm not sure if there's a villain in there can't quite recall anymore but like there's a lot of things that kind of are similar in terms of like so it's nothing necessarily new but this movie just pulls it off so like so fantastically i can't i can't freaking gush about the movie enough like this example that we were like a couple months ago i was complaining that there's a movie that was very close to another one and i said that's what hurt

19:12 it for me this movie takes elements from every other [ __ ] movie but does it all right but does it matter it's like you know when i always say that black color is like every shonen put together for better that's what this movie is it's all the other movies cliches because like the water thing it's such a cliche and the movies the anime the manga even the games themselves sometimes so it's one of those things where like we've seen this soft plot before another well executed here and this this might be a pokemon and translation thing i love that they don't baby us like when you see visions of the tree you're like oh no it's like it's withering like as the movie goes on they're not like the tree is dying it's dying yeah i'll give a benefit doubt this is the job

20:05 um but yeah like when when uh he showed up to the tree and he's just like sitting there staring at it and like they finally showed the shot of it i'm like oh that doesn't look good like and i i appreciate that i appreciate being able to watch it and be like damn like like i like to be able to draw conclusions that like like dante was saying i like to be able to draw conclusions and then be right about it context clues yes yes um also like when i when i saw coco uh like first freak out in the [ __ ] hospital room i was like oh damn he's gonna like he's gonna hurt somebody that's a culture shock yeah yeah i was like yo he's about to like encino man just like break somebody's jaw i thought after they're gonna recreate captain america waking up after being frustrated yeah but they did

23:55 i mean it could work exactly like how zaru talks to coco i mean so yeah i want to talk about that i love it so going through these other movies we've talked about like talking pokemon doing it too much whatever whatever so the way this movie does it is the zaru don't talk as much as they're speaking among each other we hear what we mean yes so they translate it into english while in universe they are speaking as a rude coco can speak to pokemon period so he's speaking zuru as well and then when they get to meeting ash it's coco talks to pikachu pikachu talks to ash kinda and he's like i know my buddy and then ash talks to pikachu talks to coco because yeah coco doesn't speak english but it's all for trade birds yeah

24:40 but yeah zaru doesn't just talk like other pokemon or force fed to which i think is [ __ ] phenomenal no i think that the way that was executed was very well done because you can use more physical like movements and like not like kind of like roars and stuff like that to show like intent and that kind of stuff and i think that they they killed it i would love to see more stuff like this i'm okay if the next three movies don't have a talking legendary yeah if they did more stuff like this just make it about coco so i have to talk interesting point as we get to the end of the movie um the i got a little worried when they uh had some rude talk okay i was just like oh okay well maybe it's not a teleph telepathy thing it's actually talking there's a particular scene in here that

25:26 i think is fantastic for this entire setup and my mind just went oh yeah okay that's that's great how they did it uh is when ash zarud koko and pikachu were kind of all there and then there's a there's a moment where we see coco and zaru talking but we don't understand them and i was like oh okay so he he actually isn't talking like that that was my moment of disbelief where it was just like oh it snapped right into place okay cool and then throughout that throughout that point once they showed us that they didn't need to show us that again because you already made that connection so it was very smart how they did that i think i noticed it when he woke up and he was like panicking so he would be like so like he was like kind of like whisper to himself yeah and like at first i was

26:11 like he's either not able to speak english or he's just making panic noises and i'm hearing what i want to hear yeah because japanese it might yeah yeah and then later on it yeah like you said it just kind of clicked and i was like yep okay cool love that love that so much watch the english make him talk hello guys it's me this is my monkey dad um yeah i i another thing i really liked and we're kind of jumping around so for context i have like some notes but really so far i've watched them all in english so i'm able to type and listen at the same time having to watch this one stuff i'm like all right cool i'm gonna just in engulf this movie as much as i can and we'll talk about it just collected because it's like a five minute summary if you want yeah

26:57 um i'm just more or less just jumping around rather than being like let's go down the list i think it's the coco looks phenomenal like the art yeah and everything it's they did it they knocked it right out of the park with this character um another thing i really really love uh we complain about it in power of us being like lugia hinges on this movie this he's the reason we succeed at the end of this film yeah and then they introduced like hey the shiny celebi like shows up when things are going right or whatever the case is and like they show that celebi is a sign rather than a solution so at the end then when we see celebi after zarud and coco i'm like hey we figured out who we are what we're doing and like you know communities fix trees fix everything else like it felt so rewarding to be like all right cool celebi's here but like

28:30 traveling so there's there's their celebi and then they're all traveling through time but because you saw the shiny one because we saw them it's just it's just rcs [Laughter] we saw we saw a shiny one which does show that there is more than one cell because before this the popular theory is that it was one yeah um you look like you had something to say about i wasn't yeah so they did that they explained that like selby goes and caught leaves things take things but when it showed up at the end it didn't do any of that so i'm wondering if that lure was maybe it's a hint that he left an egg because he does fly like he like waits for the rude the rude sees him and then he flies towards the tree yeah so i my thought was like oh he left something

29:16 there for pop like that is a rude yeah or here could be a reference to a future film so yeah these are connected giroud two electric google here's the whole thing reason why i think that was brought up and i they kind of briefly touch upon it and they do it they do it twice they do it when they introduce celebi doing that and then they bring the they bring it up one more time as well um i don't think that was meant to be something kind of at the end of the movie i think that's something that zorood is a byproduct of what celebi did that particular is the root in the movie because he comes back from the past he doesn't know who his parents are and the elders bring that up briefly it's like um cello be left in uh left you or an egg

30:03 something of that nature yeah because that's how he explains it to coco he's like yeah i don't have parents you didn't have parents and i figured i could make you better because of it and i was kind of right kind of wrong yeah so how i took it is that the whole reason that story was told was to give kind of a reason to zaru doesn't have a appearance is because zurud was brought back by celebi do you want to know the smallest thing that made me freak the [ __ ] out and i got super excited for cramer and eating pikachu no petra berries have pits yeah i the minute i saw a pecha berry pit i was like yo i've never seen that before it's like way to the uh first uh first melee tear when they were

30:49 doing the whole thing they were tossing the the berry back and forth they're like yes plant this at the house i was like but uh yeah the the krameron dude great comedy i loved him as comedy versus uh team rocket even though team rocket was like comedic side plot yeah i i love the crowd which is awesome i'm just saying pikachu ash catches in the enemy he doesn't have a water type right now and then he can do it he has these badass pokemon and i'm like feels good [ __ ] after that right oh you're right oh no never mind that's not a sorry no crammer i just like to imagine yeah that looks like a team rocket pokemon

31:36 too so when they show that in the trailer because there's the like the part where they break out of the car and like pikachu they show that clip of them like holding crammer and him freaking out me like and looks at the camera and i i thought that was like oh and the anime team rocket must have got a crammer and i know it was his very own brand like that that looks like a james pokemon yeah he does attack james yeah that's right again i was like he's just gonna be the first one like james gets crammer and this is canon like i don't think it did or was or will but this is another situation where i personally enjoy team rocket and they they amount to something in this movie yeah um they end up being the reason the bad guys caught yeah which is great so this is fantastic oh man it's a good

32:21 flick let me see it's so good dude uh i also looked at the imdb score of this movie eight point one out of ten it's amazing like so [Music] so here's my fear with this movie i think this movie is pretty good i think cole would [ __ ] this movie up yeah nice uh so right now gen 4 movie is the highest or the dark ride movies the hot it's the most successful pokemon movie not counting the original three because they were put together like the ratings and or now the rains the money uh gen four made over four million or way harder than that sorry i can't remember the if you go in five million but basically jen uh the darkrai movie was the most successful movie out of all of them money-wise um and all the other movies that fell short and i feel like there's a couple of good

33:07 movies we had yeah this movie could i generally believe this one could have been darkrai but because of cole bed it was affected because uh a lot of people didn't go to the theater when it came out it was a mess because this had this came out last week released in japan and yeah pretty bad with uh well kobed right now they don't really get vaccines over there so they're just hoping that it goes away and it's getting worse yeah uh i think that effectively one of those fat checker bars at the bottom of your video it's gonna be like japan does get back soon it's about the 30 minute man and then you have the whole like this movie should have been translated by now if i'm being honest usually well i mean when we started we were on like

33:53 episode four i'm like we've got right now is the rudes only in japanese and you're like yeah it should be like july they'll announce it and yeah it's the end of august so yeah at this point we're getting two new games out now so usually they're pretty good with the release of these things i just think colgan messed it up and because of that sales wise it's just not going to do good yeah i think that once it goes to like a streaming service but then they don't make that much money right they actually don't i think people will see it and understand like oh wow that's this is a good movie yeah i think this is gonna be like uh those character dvd movies that were really good but the previous movie messed it up it's gonna get shafted because that can like direct the dvd must be bad yeah yeah and then it might happen to if they whatever the next pokemon if that happens dude the next pokemon movie i think will call director duty because i buy the blu-ray yeah bigo's
