0:00 well it's about time could have at least given something visual hello what do you mean o surprised oh you're right new series announcement Avatar seven Havens I am so shocked by this information to win avatars what does that even mean seven Havens oh my God four long years after the official announcement of a totally new branch in Paramount exclusively focused on Avatar content we have our first ever official details on the upcoming Avatar series granted most of this has been known for months but now that it is set in stone for now at least I wanted to put all of my thoughts in one place and really prepare for the next era that is going to be the Avatar franchise first things first before we even get into the story we have the confirmation the two

0:46 seasons consisting of 26 half an hour episodes have been ordered we don't know whether this is the full series or just an initial order but these two seasons will consist of 26 episodes total and right away this is a massive massive W cor story never really had an overall working narrative because it was continuously being renewed every season had its own B and its own narrative by Design because they were meant to be somewhat modular they never knew how many seases they were going to get and as we all know the greatest villain in all of Kora was just Nickelodeon they literally did everything in its power to make kaora fail for some reason I still don't know why with the original Avatar story they just kind of took the risk and made it a single overarching story right from the Geto initially they didn't know that it would get three seasons so they really were gambling on just getting re renewed and then

1:32 actually telling a coherent story which luckily they did with this series though having at least two seasons right from the getco even if they are just 26 episodes I think is automatically going to mean that the arcs are a lot more coherent and sort of Forward Thinking and at the same time there is also the possibility that it won't be forward thinking because this is the series there will just be 26 episodes and that's it personally I find that a little hard to believe considering this is kind of the first big project they're doing but at the same time this is the first major project they're doing so maybe this is just a jumping offboard for whatever is going to come next whatever the case based on we know at least I think this is a very good sign and that just basically means that going from season 1 to season 2 will feel a lot more natural basically in the same way that going from not really avatar Book one to book two because that was kind of Adventure of the week but going

2:19 from book two to book three was very natural everything felt fitting and got zapped and then right away we go into the like Final Act of the story all of that was planned way in advance and it just kind of made sense whereas maybe book one to book two felt a little bit more dicey and then with Kora again every single season was a standalone thing and Loosely connected into a larger story with this it seems like they already know that they're going to go a bit further ahead than they did initially with Kora moving into the story stuff though officially we only have the log line but I think that gives more than enough to already start yapping about all kinds of possibilities the world has been Shattered by devastating cataclysm a young earthbender discovers she's the next Avatar after Kora but in this D dangerous era that title marks her as

3:04 Humanity's Destroyer not its savior hunted by both human and spirit enemies she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious Origins and save the seven Havens before civilization's last strongholds collapse so first up the cataclysm even when quora was initially coming out I always wish that we kind of dish the technology and just go back in the Avatar cycle rather than forward yes I do admit I think there's a lot of potential in a story that is all about this balance between modern technology and traditional bending but it's just something I don't personally driive with when I think of the word Avatar I immediately think of traditional Marshall Arts sort of cultural preservation these more esoteric ideas that come from various different cultures and stuff like that going Way Beyond in the future I think would be too much Kora already moved away from

3:50 that a little bit it kind of worked for me but going Way Beyond that I think that's when they start to lose me so if we are going forward in time but just wiping out all technology well I consider that a w and even more than that if people complain about rehashing the same IP over and over well then this is certainly a very bold new take on the Avatar Universe we've had no technology we've had quite a bit of a technology where like lightning bending the most sacred firebending form that only the Royals knew was literally used for like practical things and well now all technology is gone again because there's been a cataclysm and we're sort of a post-apocalyptic thing they're definitely trying new things so big thumbs up there my personal theory is still that this has something to do with the return of San's Comet and how that interact with the now open Spirit

4:36 portals let me explain and by explain I mean just kind of Yap about it the primary focus in Ang's story in terms of major overarching goals was the Mastery of all four elements understanding the Avatar state was a part of that but in the grand scheme of things it was not really the core focus with quora's story they didn't want to retread the same story beat a Zang and so they just completely flipped the board she already knows all the elements and her biggest challenge was basically Ang's biggest strength spirituality thing is despite all the spirit stuff we saw in Kora we never really explore the underlying implications of what any of it was it was just kind of bad spirits are doing bad things and that's about it contrast that to Ang who had multiple one-on-one interactions with very important Spirits

5:23 as weird as it may seem I feel like Ang story actually dealt a lot more with these fundamental Spirit things than Kora story which is obviously not true book two of Kora was all about spirits but in the way that it was explored it felt like a very big picture thing where we need to make sure that these bad spirits don't get out of control whereas Ang story was actually about these ancient beings and how they interacted with many many past avatars with the original Avatar series their presence on the human world felt weirdly more impactful even though again it wasn't so my half-baked idea right now is that a subsection of benders might use the return of San's coma to either attack the spirit world or try to provoke a powerful Spirit or something along those

6:08 lines and this very personal crossover between the human world and the spirit world will cause this destruction I guess like the closest example to what I'm talking about is Xiao slaying the Moon that was a single dude slaying an ancient being and the world completely fell out of balance now imagine that with a subsection of like some kind of Fire Nation extremists maybe they're still like oai loyalists or something like that and they use the common to straight up attack the spirit world this wouldn't be a weird laser battle between two blowing avatars this would be using one of kora's biggest decisions in the world leaving the spirit portals open to launch a full incursion into the spirit world that seems like a really really bad idea to me but it also seems like great storytelling potential I think Kora will basically be forced to fight

6:54 to stop all of them including all the spirits but the World At Large will never know of our sacrifice and all the spirit stuff will only escalate because the Avatar actively worked against them and I think it's this clash between the human world and the spirit world and I guess Kora in between as the sort of wild card that will just spiral out of control and Kora will do something very very drastic to make sure something probably even worse doesn't happen in the later parts of Kora we already explored people not liking that the spirit Vines are taking over Republic City so maybe this is like an instance where they say you know what we're just going to shut down the spirit world completely and that is a very bad idea so maybe Kora just blows up all the portals and then something even worse happens then it just comes pouring out into the human world or something along those lines but I think she's going to take very drastic measures to make sure that something even worse doesn't happen

7:41 or maybe she just breaks the comet in the air and then it crashes into the planet and it explodes just boom essentially I think we are being set up for a story where the Avatar's title is falsely tarnished in the same way that many Saw Ang as sort of abandoning them only with this Avatar it's not going to be a personal struggle of sort of leaving the world behind or anything like that it's going to be an existential one both with Humanity as well as with Spirits now if you read the novels this might sound a little similar to kuruk and Kyoshi stories with both of them also dealing with extremely dangerous spirits and the World At Large never really understood what they sacrificed but I think this would be different enough to Warrant further exploration and even more than that this is animation the kurok novel doesn't exist it's more so stuff we've gleaned

8:27 from kyoshi's novel and kyoshi's novel is a novel it doesn't exist animation so it's kind of not really impeding on the same idea regardless big picture-wise I absolutely adore the idea of spirits running rampants and the human world facing a cataclysm that simply couldn't be avoided the idea of this misunderstood and hated Avatar is something I've been thinking about for years so finally seeing it come to fruition in whatever capacity this may be I mean we don't know this could easily be an evil Avatar just outright even though I don't think it's probably going to be but still I am very excited in terms of just raw ideas is fully on board it's something very different and I am here for it next up the Nations as a formal concept are gone and have been replaced by these seven Havens when the first leaks happen the specificity of

9:14 seven Havens had me a little stumped Because Why seven to be fair they could just be random settlements and that's it the relevance of clearly defined Nations was already fading by the end of Ang story and the world baning together against the Fire Nation and with Republic City the concept of Nations was basic Bally Gone By Design so these Seven Nations could just be slightly different formations of what is largely the same population and these are just kind of the last bastions of Hope and that's it they don't really have like a defining characteristic OB but at the same time this is a story and there are seven locations they must be different and in Avatar there actually is a specific seven the chakras if this story really is about this convergence of the human world and the spirit world well

10:00 that seems to fit awfully well we will still retain the classic four elements but we' also have sound light and thought perhaps these three Breakaway Havens worship different primordial Spirits perhaps these are non-bender nations maybe even by Design all of the equalists if the Avatar really is hunted by basically everyone I would suspect that the non-bender and Bender conflicts would also be quite a bit more intense so I think having entire Breakaway cities does make a lot of sense but if it's not not just Breakaway regions worshiping Spirits what about the chakras if they are indeed the seven chakras what would sound light and thought represent sound is meant to be truth so could these be archaeologists the ones trying to learn what happened to bring about the cataclysm it is a

10:46 fairly common trop in fantasy to have these cyclical celestial events that future historians try to analyze so could it be something like that this Breakaway region that doesn't really care about the political side of all this and just tries to figure out why this happened though to be fair I am reading The Stormlight Archive right now so the desolations might just be at the top of mind so I might be a bit biased but it does make sense light is meant to be Insight with Guru patik explaining that the greatest illusion of the world is separation so could these be like pacifists or diplomats trying to bring back Unity then again that does seem like a very weird distinction for like a entire city to have especially considering the air Nomads would largely fulfill that purpose the air Nomads are all about carrying knowledge forward and

11:31 making sure that the Avatar can just be sort of bored into the world and actually do stuff so maybe it's rather super Elite Benders pursuing techniques from other nations and generally just big brain bending Arts that is basically what we saw with to's discovery of metal bending so maybe or maybe this is the only Haven that still believes in the Avatar and the belief that the world is not separate Nations but rather a single hold all of these kind of seem like a stretch to me it just seems a bit weird to designate entire regions based on like a single ideology but at the same time designating a region by single ideology also does kind of make sense so I'm not sure it could just be me overanalyzing not sure and finally there is the thought chakra which is basically fundamental cosmic energy as we see with Ang perhaps these would be Spirit

12:18 communicators ones who have completely let go of Earthly attachments and essentially accepted that there is no such thing as human or spirits and that it's all Just Energy book two of korup did kind of explore this idea of almost giving up on humanity and leaning more in the side of spirits so it is kind of retreading what we already seen but you could also take that idea further and maybe it's Spirits doing the opposite something along those lines not sure again this seems like a bit of a stretch but maybe it's not conceptually I really like the idea of having these seven distinct locations but I just kind of fear for their relevancy seven major cities in 26 episodes seems like a lot of different cities in relatively few episodes imagine having seven bossing SS in a little more than just book two seems kind of dicey and if they don't

13:05 use all seven well then it's kind of weird in the opposite direction because why have these seven distinct locations if only a few of them are relevant I think it's going to be a balancing act it's really going to depend on how they execute on it because Avatar itself never had this problem it was sort of traveling between a lot of locations and then we had big spectacles at the end of books but that's about it seven big locations in just two seasons not sure that aside though as with the rest of these ideas is it's again something very different and that is already worthy of a big thumbs up for me we had travel 24/7 with Ang we had the Republic City Focus story with Kora now this seems to be a sort of a mixture between the two and let's see how it goes next up the Avatar has a twin and right away if you haven't read the novels this is not as

13:51 new as it may seem Roku had a twin we literally just had this and this didn't come out 6 years ago the book came out in 2024 with roku's brother there was no ambiguity Roku was the Avatar and that's it even ignoring the leaks though the log line talks about uncovering their mysterious Origins which to me pretty clearly implies that there will be something very different to it my knee-jerk reaction was always that one of them would have just the Avatar States while the other would have just the ability to bend all four elements I think it would create really interesting conversations around what even is the Avatar is it just the Practical ability of bending all four elements is that all it takes or do you have to be an ancient spirit that can go into the Avatar State and go glowy mode I think it would be really really interesting to just kind

14:38 of clash about what the title even is especially if it's either or you only bent four elements or you're only the Avatar State there is no in between are none of them the Avatar are both of them the Avatar is one of them the Avatar I think the conversation there is really interesting and even more than that I think it would also create really interesting politics in the world because there is just a super op Bender capable of bending all for elements but there is also a literal primordial Spirit walking around that kind of works like a glass Cannon and can occasionally meld with other primordial beings and do all kinds of weird Time stuff so yeah with kora's connection to our past lives now being severed deciphering what the Avatar even is is probably going to be a mystery in and of itself but that still

15:25 doesn't really explain the twins part my current line of thinking is something along the lines of the avatar spirit being severed in whatever the cataclysm or some other spirit world Shenanigans were I've seen people immediately jump on thinking that this is probably vatu and the other is raava but that just seems like way too on the nose for me and I don't think they'd be retreading that already and it's largely considered to be like the single worst thing in Kora so I'm not sure I really doubt the series that has suddenly branded the Avatar as the world's Destroyer would want to touch on the very goofy black and white vatu raava thing unless this could end up fixing the biggest problem of K namely forgetting about that little thing called balance and just painting out raava to be pure good this is a

16:10 massive Trope yes but what if with vatu imprisoned raava becomes zealous and there is no Darkness to counteract the light and suddenly there is way too much light probably not but in essence having two characters fulfill the role of the Avatar I think is really compelling and it'll really just depend on the execution yun's false Avatar story is still one of the greatest things in the entire franchise in my opinion so I have very high hopes for this what I'm quite a bit more spooked about is the young Earth Bender Parts because based on the leaks so this is not confirmed she is supposedly just 9 years old realistically it is an animated show Ang did not act like he was 12 which I guess makes sense he was 112 and 95% of Anime characters don't act their age either

16:56 unless you look like this when you were 17 yes joto is actually 17 in part 3 no it makes absolutely no sense so there might be nothing to worry about but I think having an avatar that is even younger than a might make things a little bit weird there is a whole different conversation to be had around the audience growing up with the show like things something like Harry Potter where most people were watching it as they were growing up and they were basically growing up alongside the alongside the cast and stuff like that with Avatar it's been so long that I feel like most people who grew up watching the show sort of want something that is as mature as Kora or even more so and having a 9-year-old Avatar I think watching a 9-year-old do politics would be very jarring even if she acts super mature so not sure if anything

17:42 this makes me think there might be a time Skip and what we know about is just an extended prologue all of the vland Saga this will be a completely different world so I think there's a decent chance that we see a few episodes of everything seeming normal as we get to grips with what's kind of going on in the pseudo apocalyptic world then maybe like some kind of trag tredy strikes and we Flash Forward where the real story of Humanity's Destroyer Avatar really begins with her already being grown up maybe I'm not sure guess we'll have to wait and see the 9-year-old think for now though it is kind of a bit of a red flag to bring all this together though in terms of Vibes I'm not quite sold on the post-apocalyptic setting and the 9-year-old Avatar does seem like a bit of a red flag for me but that'll totally depend on what they do we might not even know the full story again there might be

18:28 a time skip the world might not be as Des as we think yada yada but what matters for me is that in terms of big picture ideas all of this stuff it feels fresh and most importantly it feels compelling these don't seem like just basic ideas of another Avatar that saves the world branding them as the world's Destroyer that is fresh that is interesting and that is something we haven't seen a lot of these ideas are seemingly by Design as different as you could be from Ang and from Kora and that in of itself has me fully locked in if fail completely so be it but at least it'll be something different I've already seen a painful amount of discourse around a series that doesn't even exist and we really know next to nothing about it like people are saying cor is the worst avatar ever yada yada y

20:01 of things to do with Spirits so there's a lot of different directions the series could go maybe we're going to go back and explore what happened with Koshi extending lifespan why did Ang die so young all of these different things we could explore sort of going backward even though I guess we don't have the the spirit connection there anymore maybe there is still a way to explore that I hope we just don't go full-blown into fan service I hope we don't like we avoid these common pitfalls of another sequel right whatever Direction they go with the with the legacy of Kora I'll be there for it if they want to re frame it later on I do think there's going to be a lot of reframing here by the way whatever Kora does I think it's going to be misunderstood in some capacity uh in the same way that a lot of roku's story was misunderstood and I mean kuruk story was misunderstood Koshi story was misunderstood it just kind of goes with
