00 Do you ever feel like you have 37 browser tabs open at all times in your brain and every single tab is a different idea? Insert. Should I start an Airbnb? Should I have an online course? Should I be a coach? Should I join this network marketing company? Should I have an Amazon t-shirt merch store? Oh, wait. That was me. Circa 2018. One minute you're set on something and then the next minute you're completely derailed and distracted and on to the next. Maybe an Etsy store would be a great thing to do. Or should I write a devotional? Should I start a journal? I should totally launch a planner. Friend, let me guess. You feel stuck. You feel like you're drowning in decision fatigue and overwhelm. You're
46 overthinking and you're unsure. Which one of these, if any of them, are the business that God wants for me? Don't worry. We're going to dive in. Hi, if you're new to me, my name is Stephanie Gas. I am a podcast and business coach with over 15 years experience and all the things that you should not do and worldly ways of growing a business that will leave you broken and broke and exchanging it all for God's way of growing a business, a kingdom business that can be fruitful, flourishing, simple, and yes, scalable. Because I think that in the God economy, God wants incredible people and women and men who have callings on their lives to rise up into a kingdom CEO position and actually make real money for the kingdom of God. So, you're in the right place if all of
33 that feels really aligned for you. Okay, here we go. What am I talking about? So, let's get into the burden of too many ideas. So, having a million ideas, it's not a bad thing. It's not a shameful thing. I actually want to bring something up for you right now that I think is really important. The fact that you have so many ideas, it just means you're creative, you're excited, and you want to make sure that you do this right. Once somebody wise once told me, Steph, the fact that you care if you're a good mom actually means you're a good mom. So take that. The fact that you care what business you should create and you have so many awesome ideas, it means you are called to start one. But the
19 operative word one, let me give you an analogy. It's like standing in a buffet and there's 15 plates in front of you and you want to try everything. So, you nibble a little bit from this one, you nibble a little bit from this one, but you never actually finish a plate and you're left feeling unsatisfied and yet really full. Like, what did I actually eat and consume? I'm feeling really full, but I didn't satisfy any of my actual cravings. That's kind of how it works in business, too. If you nibble a little bit here and you nibble a little bit here and you get some of this and some of that and you don't actually fully accomplish something, it's doing so much busy work that isn't going to
04 produce actionable, tangible results that will produce clients, leads, and income in the future. James 18 says, "A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways." A double-minded man is unstable in all of his ways. Wow. When our mind is split in different directions or on multiple different businesses, so is our energy. God blesses obedience, not scattered striving. And the reality is is that clarity comes when we commit. I actually have my students fully commit, dial in, and drill in and do the dang thing for a minimum of 12 months because we don't even know if a business idea is actually viable until we verify it. And that takes months, sometimes years. Hi,
52 I am now a seven-figure business owner and I had overnight success that took me 15 years. You know what I'm saying? But I had to stop doing everything. And believe me, everything. I had multiple businesses. I had all kinds of stuff. I was very stretched. I was also doing all the things in my business all at once instead of what is the first thing that I should actually do? See that through to completion and then do thing number two, do it to completion. and then do thing number three, etc. I've learned all the hard ways how to grow a business that actually is super fruitful and very, very simple. I now am able to work less than 20 hours a week in my company. I have a team. I do one core thing in my business, which is podcasting. I have
39 only one core offer in my business. It's just so simplified and it's dialed all the way down. I'm not doing a bunch of other businesses. And believe me, I have so many options and I have had distractions creep up where I have to really think long and hard. Is this something God's asking me to do or is it simply just another shiny object that is going to derail me from the kingdom progress that he is creating for me? So, let's go through the three filters so that you know which idea is the right idea, aka which idea is the God idea. The first filter we're going to run this through is calling. So which idea of the many that you have, which first first step pre- homework, jot out every single idea that you keep running across? I
24 want to do this and I want to do this and I'm already doing this, but I also do this and then what about this and like anything you're thinking of, get it out of your mind and onto a big sheet of paper, a poster board, a whiteboard, a Canva document, whatever. Get it in front of you. And now we're going to run it through that calling filter. So, which one of these align with how God's already prepared me? Your trial, triumphs, traumas, maybe your story, your setbacks, your roadblocks, your stumbling blocks, all of that matters. God doesn't waste a season and he does not waste a story. So, look at your personal testimony and think about your past and ask yourself, which one of these things I want to do has something to do with the things I've walked through? That is going to be the biggest
10 clue to your breakthrough. People are so often just looking at what they want to do and this comes from how someone else is making money or what they think makes sense based on their job or whatnot. And while those things do matter, I think the clue that we often overlook is the calling. You know, why did I go through all the things I went through in my entire lifetime? Well, it was to be here in this moment with you. God's not wasted one single second of my life and it's been used and it's being used in different capacities and in different places and spaces that God leads me to go. But this business in particular is built on the back of every single day of my life. And if I look at that objectively, I can clearly see the strings and the connections between
56 failures and things I've gone through. And I just look at spiritual gifts and vocational gifts and boom, this business is very clearly the thing I'm called to. So write down where has God already moved in my story and do this audit work? Run it through the calling filter right now. Okay. The second filter we're going to run all your ideas through is capacity. The question here is what can I realistically do right now with the time, energy, and finances that I currently have? For example, let's say say that you have I want to have an online coaching business and I also want to launch an Airbnb. Well, maybe when you discern through this, you realize and recognize the Airbnb is great, but I don't actually have the capacity or the finances to do that right now. Take that idea and put it in your idea bank. Like
44 actually, physically, you can take this little thing in Canva or in your notes dock or a sticky note. Put it over in something called an ideas bank. It can be a box. It can be an actual online like column in your task management software, whatever you want. Could be a folder in a Google Drive. That way you remove the constant obsessive thinking about it and like holding space for this idea that isn't going to manifest right now. Put the idea away, pat it on the back, and say, "I'll see you later. I have another idea that I need to fully realize and bring to life before I look at you." So capacity is so important. Trying to build a business or launch something when you have zero margin is going to be like trying to bake three cakes when you only have the ingredients
30 for one. You're going to take that one beautiful cake that you could have created and you're going to spread it so thin. One's going to be purple cuz it took all of the color dye. the other one's going to taste bad and the other one's going to not rise and it's going to be like, why did I try to make three cakes when I could have just made one epic cake, sell it for a profit, and then I can reinvest and make three more. It's really this question of what you can fully show up for in this season to see it all the way through. Okay, the last filter you're going to run your ideas through is conviction. Which idea of all the ones you've mapped out won't leave you alone? You're feeling that constant nudge, that tug, that Holy Spirit whisper, that confirmation. And here's the deal, like it won't make sense. So, I want you to remove the like
16 tangible thinking behind it of how does it work and how does it make money and but what if this and how will it work with my job and like if you can just eliminate all of that for a second and say, am I feeling the conviction of the Holy Spirit to move on this idea? Is this a God idea? That conviction, that feeling, that nudge. This is the thing that you might need to look at. It's the peace that supersedes how it makes sense. Proverbs 16:3, commit your actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed. God blesses what's committed to him, not what's perfect. So, which idea has God repeatedly placed in your mind and in your spirit? That's the one. Okay, great. Seth, I've hear you. I've run this through three filters and I'm still not sure. I'm either super
02 confused or I still have three ideas left on the docket. I just don't know what to do. If you still don't know what to do, you just need one simple yes. Okay? You need your very first step. So, you're going to take a second, pick one, the one that you feel is the closest, and you're going to write down your first three steps. For example, the one I'm doing is I'm going to launch the podcast. Great. What do I think my first three steps are? One, I'm gonna pick a podcast title. And the second thing, I'm going to pick a podcast TSO statement. If you don't know what that means, you need my profitable podcast boot camp so I can teach you how to launch and grow a profitable podcast that brings in leads and makes sales without losing the focus
48 on what matters most, which is a God-led business, prayerful consideration, um, discerning through your choices with the Lord. Please come take my boot camp. It's so affordable. Stephaniegast.com/bootcamp. It's going to bless you if the way I've grown my business is of interest to you. Please let me be your leader and mentor through that process. I would be absolutely honored. It's stephaniegast.com/bootcamp. Okay. So, step two would be that TSO statement and step three is going to be some light market research. But the most important thing is as you're moving through, I picked something and I'm going to test it. In essence, you are praying without ceasing. Lord, I'm walking this out. I'm still not sure, but I'm going to need you to open doors and keep pushing me through without confusion. Or I need you to slam the
34 door and redirect me. Right? If God is the shepherd and you are his sheep, we have to trust him to lovingly tap us with the rod right back onto the path that he has for us. God is not a god of confusion and he will help you make sure you're on the right path. But the reality is, you can't steer a parked car, right? We have to be moving and in motion for that steering to take place so often. So, let's get our feet going. Let's take some audacious action and trust the Lord to lead us and move us forward. And don't worry, he will tell you if it's the wrong idea. I had 12 ideas going on at once when I first started in my entrepreneurship journey and I have nothing left but one today that I'm actively working on and God shut them
19 all down and he redirected me and I believe that he'll do that for you too. And if you're scared of choosing the wrong thing, remember this. If your heart is to honor God, he won't let you get too far in the wrong direction. He'll gently reroute you. He's not out to trap you. He's out to grow you and to help you grow into the kingdom capacity that he's already and always had for you. So that's it, friend. We're going to do this hard but holy work right now. Tell me below in the comments, what is the business idea that you're stuck with after doing all the homework in this video? What's the business idea that's most on your heart right now?
