Brief Summary

This video explains the National Credit Framework (NCrF) and its alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It uses the example of "Ramesh," a skilled agricultural worker without formal education, to illustrate how the NCrF can recognize and credit non-traditional learning. The video covers the structure, benefits, and implementation of the NCrF, including credit accumulation, transfer, and redemption for further education and job opportunities.

  • NCrF aims to remove barriers in the education sector and integrate skills with holistic education.
  • Various educational bodies like UGC, AICTE, NCERT, and MOE have contributed to developing the NCrF.
  • The framework includes the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) and provides credits for all levels of education and skills.

Introduction: The Story of Ramesh and the National Credit Framework

The video starts with the story of Ramesh, a skilled agricultural worker who lacks formal education, to highlight the need for recognizing skills and knowledge gained outside traditional schooling. Despite Ramesh's expertise, he is considered illiterate due to the absence of a degree or diploma. The narrator introduces the National Credit Framework (NCrF) as a solution to align with the New Education Policy 2020, enabling credit recognition for special learning and providing pathways for further education and skill recognition.

Understanding the National Credit Framework (NCrF)

The National Credit Framework (NCrF) aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to remove barriers in the education sector. It addresses demographic divisions and promotes holistic education and skill integration, teaching aptitude, higher education, and research. The NCrF supports lifelong learning, aspirational education, and skilling initiatives. UGC, AICTE, NCERT, DOCL, MOE, MSDE, and DGT are responsible for its development.

Key Verticals and Benefits of the NCrF

The NCrF has three main verticals: the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), the National Higher Education Qualification Framework, and schooling. Credits are awarded for every degree, class, and skill, enabling the measurement of complete learning. This system increases accessibility across educational levels and provides flexibility through multiple entry and exit options, as emphasized in the new education policy. IITs, IIMs, NITs, and other institutions of national importance follow this credit system, which aids in admissions and further studies.

Inclusion, Creativity, and Credit Management

The NCrF encourages creativity and makes diverse learning approachable, accommodating both gifted and progressive learners. Individuals like Ramesh can receive recognition and credit scores for diplomas in agriculture, facilitating their advancement. Credit management involves assignment, storage, transfer, and redemption, enabling job applications through certificates in the skill-based era. One year of education learning equals 1200 national learning hours, resulting in 40 credits, with one credit equivalent to 30 learning hours.

Credit Calculation and Shift to Skill-Based Education

The discussion covers how credits are awarded and how the system shifts from traditional to skill-based education, incorporating classroom, experimental, and exploratory learning. Different credits are given across school, higher, vocational, and skill education. The narrator emphasizes the importance of understanding the credit system, noting that questions about NCrF are likely to appear in exams.

Credit Levels and Important Notes

The video provides a detailed table showing credit levels for various degrees and classes, from primary education to PhD. A PhD earns 8.0 credits under the National Skill Qualification Framework, with 40 credits earned per year, totaling 320 credit points. The narrator explains how to calculate total credit points earned by a student by multiplying the NCrF level by the credits earned at that level. The Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) expands these credits to include school education, vocational training, skills, internships, and projects, aiding in admissions and certifications.

Conclusion and Homework Question

The narrator concludes by reiterating the importance of the National Credit Framework and provides a homework question to reinforce understanding. The PDF of the presentation will be available on the JRF Adda application, along with tests every Thursday and Sunday. The narrator also promotes a countdown series on JRF Adda, offering live question-solving sessions for research, ICT, and logical reasoning.

0:28 [Music] So guys, today I am going to tell you the story of Ramesh. Who is Ramesh? Look, Ramesh is a small boy. He has been working on his father's agricultural farm for 10 years. And this 20-25 year old boy works on the farm for 10 years. He can operate machinery. He

1:13 knows how to get the full yield of the crop. He knows everything. But Ramesh never went to school. He never went to any college. So, will the skills and knowledge set that Ramesh has ever get any recognition? Absolutely not. We will feel that because he never went to school. He never went to college. He does not have any degree or diploma. Because of this, we will call Ramesh illiterate. But he worked harder than you and me. He learned to work on this farm. He learned the machinery here. Overall, Ramesh became such a skilled person in the agricultural sector. You must be thinking that man, how can you have such a skill? It should be recognised, so it is absolutely correct. Today I am going to teach you how the National Credit Framework can be

2:02 aligned with the New Education Policy 2020. We can give credit to this type of special gifted learning, and not only can we give credit, but from here you can continue your studies, do a diploma and get recognition for your skills. How do you get credits, how do you get recognitions, big questions are asked on that in the exam from you guys. See, for example, I will show you one question. Such questions are asked from all of you in the exam that according to the National Credit Framework, you have to tell the credit level earned after obtaining a bachelor's degree, which is a 3-year under grad, how many credits do you get in that, 7, 5.5, 6.5 or 5. So you will say 5.5. This is the answer. I can make you remember it with the help of a small table. Not

2:48 only this, there are many other questions on the National Credit Framework. These are the questions that you may have which I have tried to explain to you with this real life example. Now understand that this National Credit Framework aligns with our National Education Policy that came in 2020. Whatever barriers are there in the framework or basically whatever barriers are there in our learning in our education sector, removing them. This National Credit Framework of yours is divided population wise, it is divided demographically, then if I talk about holistic education and skill integration, it works on teaching aptitude, higher education or research, in all of them, it is natural for you to have a question about holistic education, it talks about life long learning opportunity or if we talk about

3:34 aspirational education or it also works on skilling, all these things are handled by your NCRA. Now who created it or who is responsible for it, so your UGC is that it is University Grants Commission, your All India Council for Technical education has become National Council for Vocational Education and Training, then your NCERT has become your DOCL, then your DOH has become MOE, Ministry of Education which is called MSDE, then Skill Development and Entrepreneur Schooling and your DGT, all of these have been developed by all of them together. Who developed your National Credit Framework, this is important. You should also know which are its three main

4:21 verticals. Questions also come up on their ranking or basically questions come up every time on these. NSQF National Skill Qualification Framework, you have a separate framework for National Higher Education Qualification and schooling as well, in which credits are given to you for every degree, every class, every skill and on the basis of those credits, you can measure your complete learning, so basically in this way The accessibility that happens across educational levels increases for you. The multiple entry multiple exit option, which has also been mentioned in your new education policy, gives you flexibility in it. With the help of the credit system, all your IITs, IIMs, NITs and all your

5:07 educational institutions of national importance follow this system. So, these credits come in handy for you in further admissions, in studying and working in them. Along with that, all your committees, I told you, all your organizations are working together at this level. So, it is obvious that you get a lot of inclusion, because it encourages creativity and makes your divers and major learning approachable. So, I said that whether you are gifted learners or your progressive learners, there is an anomaly for all of them as well. There are recognitions and what can our Ramesh ji also get, he can get full recognition and at the same time if he has to do any diploma in agriculture, then he can get a credit score for that too,

5:53 due to which he can move forward with the credit in a better way. Now how is the management of these credits done, first there are assignments of credits, then there is their acumen, then their storage so that they can be stored for future purposes also, then comes your transfers of these credits and after that finally you can redeem these credits and apply for jobs through certificates, as we always talk that the skill based era has come, in this way there are different credits, like if I talk about one year of education learning, then you people get 1200 national learning hours, in the same way you get 40 credits of it, one credit, if I talk about all of you, then that 30 is for your learning hours. It is equal to this way you have different credits here, how are they awarded,

6:40 how work is done in each R, you can read out this PDF very well, that is why I have made this flowchart here that one credit or one year is equal to what, you get 40 credits per year, if we talk about the calculation of credits, then you are being given one credit of 30 hours and these are very different hours according to different hours, this is going on how we can shift from traditional education system to skill based, not only your classroom learning but also your experimental learning, which is exploratory learning, what do they do within their credit system, whether it is your school, higher education, vocational education, skill education, you are given different credits on all parameters, this table is very very very important for you to learn and I believe Let me tell you that there are a

7:27 lot of chances of at least one NCRA question coming in every shift. So you should look at this table carefully, just like I just showed you how many credits you get in UG, look in the same way, if I talk about here, if you do a doctorate degree i.e. PhD, then the National Skill Qualification Framework gives you eight credits, 8.0 credits, you get 40 credits per year and in total you earn 320 credit points. Here, if you have a PG of one or two years, like ME or MTech, if you have done it in this way, then you get 7.0 and 6.5 credits. If we talk about here, if your UG is of 4 years or your UG is of 3 years, then in this way you are divided differently, if it is of 4 years with honours, then you

8:13 get 6.0, if it is of 3 years, then you can get 5.5 within that as well. There are different ones, there is 10th, then you have done a 5-year course, there is 12th, then you have done a 3-year course. In the same way, if you are in the second year of UG, then you get 5.0 credits. Similarly, if you are in the second year, if you are talking about senior secondary, then class 11th and class 12th also have 3.5 and 4.0 respectively. In the same way, all of you have all the classes from class one, which comes in the foundation, then your prepared classes are considered to be class three, four and five. Middle class is considered to be sixth, seventh, second year, class ninth and 10th are considered. You get different credits for all these. You can also be asked which is the prepared course, which is the foundation, which is the middle, and at which level, how many credit scores are given to you.

9:00 From your class first, you can see that in your class first, you get from 0.2 credits to Upto 8.0 credits when you do PhD, all these credits can be asked from you in the exam, so remember all these topics and there are two important notes which I am going to give you, how can you calculate the total credit points that the student has earned in your school or college in any way, skill based, in a particular year, that whatever your NCRA level is, multiply by that level how many credits he has earned at that level, by multiplying both and if I talk about your ABC Academic Bank of Credit, then it expands these credits, so that school education, vocational training skill, on top of all these things, internship program, project program, it

9:48 helps you in getting admission, in getting certification, just like when you go for a job, you ask for certificates, exactly like that, so this is very important for you people and I guess not only in the question form but it is also very important for you people to know in general now. Look, there is a question which I am giving you in homework, it is very simple, I have just shown you the table, but National Credit Framework, I am repeating it again, it is a very important topic, it is very useful for you, so remember this topic well and in this way, I will keep bringing topics for you and at the same time, you already know that its PDF will also come on the JRF Adda application for you and its test will also come every Thursday and every Sunday for you. Along with this, we are running a countdown series on JRF Hadda, so right now I am going to

10:37 meet you live at 8:30 pm, in which we will solve questions, research, ICT and logical reasoning, I will not let anything go out, I have promised, so I will keep my promise, if you guys feel that yes, you will study with me with JRF Adda I am finding it useful so you can follow us on every social media, you will find me personally, you can DM me there also, thank you, I hope you like the video, if you like it then please like it, if it is useful then tell me in the comment section how you liked the content, I will meet you now at 8:30 pm
