Intro

The video introduces the topic of weird yet official Digimon merchandise, prompted by a question posed on Twitter. The author expresses personal amusement and fondness for some of the more unusual items in the Digimon franchise's history.

Candy Makers and Office Supplies

The author recalls "Incredible Edibles" candy makers with Digimon-shaped molds, which were part of a broader trend of similar products, including makeup makers. Also mentioned are Digimon-themed office supplies like staplers and calculators shaped like Agumon, which were part of a wave of Digimon-branded products in the early 2000s.

Piggy Banks and Alarm Clocks

The author discusses Digimon piggy banks, noting that while some, like the Tanemon one, are well-designed, others, like the Agumon version, appear somewhat misshapen. The V-mon alarm clock is mentioned as another example of Digimon-themed everyday items.

Walkie-Talkies and Bath Sponges

The video highlights weirder merchandise, including walkie-talkies featuring Tai and Matt with the talk button placed at their belly button, and bath sponges that range from cute to horrifying in design.

Interactive Gilmon and Play-by-Play Palmon

The author briefly mentions an interactive Gilmon toy and then focuses on the Play-by-Play Palmon figures, which they describe as endearingly strange and "can't believe it's not bootleg" in appearance. The author collects these figures, "rescuing" them from eBay listings that have been up for a long time.

Digimon Adventure Tri Pop-Up Store Merchandise

Merchandise from the Digimon Adventure Tri pop-up stores is discussed, including color-changing mugs, an Agumon ramen bowl, and an Agumon glasses case. The author then introduces the most bizarre item: an Angemon earpick, officially licensed but of questionable utility. The author regrets not purchasing it as a novelty item.

Digimon Playsets

The video concludes with a mention of official Digimon playsets that recreated scenes from the anime. The author laments not owning one and expresses uncertainty about whether they were released in Australia.

0:03 in digimon's 26-year lifespan as a franchise there's surely been a huge and wonderful range of merchandise with unique Concepts but there have also been some pretty weird additions to the franchise and no I am not talking about certain Bandai Asia releases so of course I asked on Twitter what are some weird yet official releases and my personal favorites from this collection of wind and wonderful additions to this wonderful franchise that we all know and love has to be the uh the candy maker the uh Incredible Edibles maker where it's like a mold that uh you put there were lots of these

0:48 it wasn't just exclusive to Digimon and they would range from like makeup makers and edible makers and there would be molds where you put um weird concoctions usually it comes with like prepackaged things and the mold would like squish down and you would have uh like you know shaped things like aamon shaped things Digimon shaped things and uh there were also makeup variants like you could have a special flavored lip gloss that was reminiscent of a character but in this case it's a an edible maker or a candy maker as it's marketed as so that's a little bit of an interesting one another of my fa favorites from these submissions would have to be the ogon

1:34 calculator and uh stapler almost forgot the word for a stapler there that's a bit of a concern but this kind of ties into my first point is that in the early 2000s it was kind of like an onslaught of just everything that exists every idea that you can release something as would be released for each franchise so there was just an on sort of these uh releases that were just you know plus Digimon so we would have things like in this case stapler and calculator stapler plus Digimon so an a stapler that's shaped in in the shape of an Alon and a calculator shaped like an Alon so this kind of like just thing that already exists but in the shape and shell of an aamon or a digimon in

2:21 general and I guess that's kind of still done today but I feel like it was especially rampant in the early 2000s and especially that was the case for Digimon my favorite of these would have to be the piggy banks some of them would just kind of look like you know normal piggy bank but with in the shape of a digimon but and some of these made sense like that I have a tanyon one the tanon one is chef's kiss it is beautiful it's is just very simple it has a slot in the top and you know the release in the bottom very standard for a piggy bank however there are some of them that look a little bit weird mmons looks a little bit squished bons looks a little bit suggested I don't know why they had him in that shape uh I guess it was cute at

3:06 the time it just looks a little bit weird uh it's very cute though I would love to have the book on one is kind of funny uh it has like yeah it has a certain energy that is it's just kind of funny so in any case a lot of them had piggy banks especially with the baby in in training forms that's pretty cool there's also the vmon alarm clock that I've mentioned before so again you can see it thing that already exist Piggy Bank Plus Digimon equals bkon leaning back like that waiting for you to put coins in his belly I guess so pretty standard and then of course there are the weirder ones that you probably saw from the uh the submission request on Twitter there were the walkie-talkies where it was Ty and Matt but the

3:52 walkie-talkie button was kind of like where their belly button would be and in one of them it's weirdly flesh colored so it just looks like they've got like this giant belly button that you need to press which is kind of horrific in a way and there's also of course a lot of people submitted these they are the uh the bath sponges which range from oh cute to are horrifying which I guess you could say the same about a lot of the uh early 2000s merch when again we're just theme plus Digimon and then of course there's the uh interactive gilmon toy which I I've released a video on before has the same sort of feel to the uh the Von alarm clock but it feels more pointless and I've of course done videos

4:39 on those before and then of course there was one that I actually forgot to mention so I'm really glad this this was pointed out to me but I mentioned in my bootleg video Even though these aren't bootlegs they are the play byplay palmon which I absolutely adore I love them they are so silly they are official and every time I say that I have to like think like am I sure that they are official I'm going to say yes but they look very strange they look it's it's like I can't believe it's not bootleg like they just look really weird they've got really weird tongues they're kind of like I love them though very cute they have a charm I try to collect them because no one else get buys them I think so they're just kind of I have a rule where if it's on eBay for long

5:25 enough and no one else is buying it then I'll just assume that no one wants it so I will rescue it but otherwise like I don't I don't want to like be a hoarder in that way like I'm kind of like okay people you have your chance to buy them it's been there for a while now I will rescue this palmon that has no home that's kind of my thing I have four or five I think I I I I love I love the play by-play palmon very very much she is near and dear and sweet to my heart so love her very much and then of course there's basically the merchandise that inspired me to make this video and and it's definitely the weirdest piece of actual official merchandise that was released and still manages to feel a little bit like a fever dream so this wasn't in the 2000s so we got weirder

6:12 later on so that that's that's fun so this was from the popup stores that were released alongside Digimon Adventure try we'd get like a bunch of merchandise was really cool they had things like color changing mugs and a gon Ramen ball which I eat my cereal and yogurt and everything that I can possibly put in a bowl as often as I can out of this bowl it is just glorious there was also like a little ogon soy sauce plate very cute lots of different mugs that weren't color changing but still Digimon themed very cute uh this this oon glasses case which I've used every day since uh it was released it no longer has a clasp there uh and I and also the the Digimon

6:58 Adventure try glasses cleaners lots of really cool and actually surprisingly useful official merchandise that released alongside try in online stores as well as in the special limited popup stores however in one of the Digimon Adventure triy popup stores I think it was for part four or part five uh they released something that was a little bit weird and every time I remember it exists I'm kind of like that doesn't feel right like they've released some really cool things things around this time like they on premium Bandai they released a very expensive but very realistic looking blamon jacket that is really cool okay I want you to keep that in mind very cool jacket very cool big fan of the blon

7:44 jacket was very expensive didn't get it was like as you'd expect was the price of a normal leather jacket so yeah a lot so I didn't get it it was premium bad I only so it's very exclusive keep that in mind very cool very good piece of merchandise however they also released an anamon staff at this uh this pop-up store that I'm talking about and not a staff no not a real staff not like a walking stick no no no no think smaller it was an anamon staff earpick you know like one of those things you put in your ears you clean it out you're not meant to you're not meant to shove anything in your ear you meant to go to if you need your ears clean you meant to go to a doctor nobody nobody does that nobody nobody actually goes to a doctor when they need the ear clean they use the little tips uh it was an

8:32 earpick I don't know anybody who got this I actually regret that I did not get this ear pick myself uh not because I wanted to use it just because I just really wanted to to have it like it just feels like a really weird I would love to tell people I have an official officially licensed Digimon earpick that's just I don't know who came up with that idea I don't know whether I want to hug them slap them or be very afraid of them but that was a real thing that existed I don't know anybody who bought the earpick every time I tell people there was an officially licensed Digimon Earp pick for Digimon Adventure try at one of the pop-up stores everybody's kind of like doesn't believe me until I bring out like the the concept like the the art that they showed to to promote it

9:19 like hey look here's this Ramen Bowl here's this soy sauce plate here are these color changing mugs and here's the animon ear pick that no one asked for yay so yeah I have no idea who I for it and I don't know anyone who got it but I kind of regret not getting it when I got my okon glasses case like I use the glasses case every day I don't think I'd ever use the uh the Elon ear Alon earpick the angelon earpick but uh yeah so that inspired me to make a whole video about weird official merchandise uh because I earpick it's still a weird one for me like I always have the the what whenever I mention the earpick so in any case those are the uh the weirdest officially licensed merchandise

10:04 uh before I finish off I just want to mention one more thing uh it's a piece of merchandise that i' haven't been able to find online because I don't think they were released in Australia uh and this is the official Digimon playsets they kind of opened up and there were a bunch of like there'd be a scene from the anime and I don't think I've ever had one I don't think they were released in Australia I have a lot of memories of having similar play sets but they always broke or we're missing a piece I I don't remember if they were the Digimon ones I'm assuming that they weren't released here cuz I've never seen them online for sale I could be wrong but I really want one maybe one day I will they are very cool and they were released for the first three seasons at least but uh not sure if they released here but I just wanted to mention that before I finished off because I do love those but I

10:51 couldn't find uh one any good quality images of them and no one sent through pictures of their own and obviously I don't have one so I couldn't just show of mine but in any case that's it for weird but official merchandise and uh it's kind of funny how there's some weird things that are I Can't Believe It's Not bootleg and then there's some bootleg things where I can't believe it's not official and I feel like play byplay palmon is perfect for that but any case that's it for this video let me know your favorite weird official merchandise in the comment section below like this video for glorious play-by-play palmon subscribe if you haven't already uh and if you have subscribed tell your friends tell your enemies tell your neighbors and I apologize for my croaky voice I'm just getting over a pretty bad

11:37 cold so apologies for that and of course I'll see you in the next video bye [Music]
