Brief Summary

This video explores Surah An-Nahl, focusing on the errors of idolators, the consequences of their actions, and the mercy of Allah. It highlights the idolators' hypocrisy in ascribing daughters to Allah while disliking them for themselves, and their false claims of a good reward. The talk also covers how Satan makes evil deeds appealing, and the purpose of the Quran as clarification, guidance, and mercy for believers.

  • Idolators ascribe false attributes to Allah and will face severe consequences.
  • Allah's mercy delays punishment, allowing for repentance.
  • Satan deceives people by making evil deeds attractive.
  • The Quran serves as clarification, guidance, and mercy for believers.

Introduction

The speaker begins by continuing the discussion on Surah An-Nahl, focusing on the flaws the idolators ascribe to Allah. These include claiming Allah has daughters, a notion they themselves despise. The idolators commit multiple crimes: disliking Allah's decree, the horrific act of burying daughters alive, and ascribing daughters to Allah when they dislike having them. The purest description of greatness belongs to Allah, while the idolators have the worst description.

Allah's Clemency and Justice

Allah, in his clemency, does not immediately punish these actions. If Allah were to deal with them based on fairness and justice, the consequences would be severe. The speaker emphasises the gravity of idolatry and the ingratitude of those who attribute blessings from Allah to others. If Allah were to punish people immediately for their wrongdoing, no living being would remain on Earth. However, Allah delays their punishment to an appointed term, which they cannot change.

The Impossibility of Escaping Allah's Justice

The speaker explains that the Arabic phrase "low innahza" expresses an impossibility. If Allah were to take people to task immediately, destruction would follow, but He delays this. The root of the word for "seize" implies a strong, intense punishment. All forms of oppression, especially idolatry, are a transgression against Allah's right to be worshipped alone. People fail to grasp that Allah provides everything, yet they ascribe good to others, a heinous crime deserving of severe punishment.

Severity of Idolatry and Allah's Delay

If people understood the severity of worshipping others besides Allah, they would realise that the only just punishment would be complete destruction. However, out of His mercy, Allah postpones this punishment, allowing time for repentance. This delay extends until the Day of Judgment, giving people a chance to correct their mistakes. Some crimes, like genocide, are so severe that earthly punishments are insufficient, necessitating the Day of Judgment for true justice.

Hypocrisy and False Claims

The speaker discusses another crime: attributing to Allah what they hate for themselves, such as daughters. They falsely claim they will have the finest reward, but without a doubt, they will have the fire. They ascribe things they dislike to Allah and make false claims on His behalf. This hypocrisy is exposed, highlighting their double standards and lies. They elaborate on theories about the hereafter, claiming they will receive the best, but Allah condemns this as a lie.

The Inevitable Fire

Instead of receiving the rewards they falsely claim, they will undoubtedly face the hellfire. They will be sent ahead to the hellfire and forgotten there, ignored and neglected. This is because they went to excess in their lies, vile actions, and rejection of God. They were deficient in fulfilling the rights of God and excessive in their crimes, leading to an excessively painful punishment.

The Deception of Satan

Allah has sent messengers to communities before, but Satan made their misdeeds appealing to them. Satan makes bad deeds seem great and good deeds seem ugly, leading people to stubbornly persist in evil. They turn away from God, insult His messengers, and oppress His slaves. The Quran warns against being like those who ignore guidance, as Satan deceives them into seeing evil as good.

Satan as an Ally

Satan is their ally, either in this worldly life or on the Day of Judgment. On the Day of Judgment, Satan will be useless, leading to their complete destruction. Alternatively, in this life, Satan convinces them to do wrong, offering tips and tricks. However, on the Day of Judgment, he will disown them, blaming them for their choices.

The Purpose of the Quran

Allah reveals the Quran to clarify what people differed about, such as the reality of the Day of Judgment and the desires of God. It serves as perfect guidance and a source of mercy. The Quran clarifies what is right and wrong, guides people to live the best life, and offers mercy to those who seek it. It is a vast guidance and mercy for those who believe and actively seek closeness to Allah.

0:07 My dear friends, Allah bless you all. Let's continue our look at okay fat. Alhamdulillah. So last time we were looking at how the idolattors were subhan Allah ascribing false blemishes you know to Allah subhanaa tala that they just Allah is

0:54 far beyond even having anything like that you They said that he has daughters and you know when they themselves disliked having daughters and it's just there's a crime in and of itself in them hating having daughters they're displeased with Allah's decree and then there's the crime of actually what they did with the daughters burying them alive horrible horrible act and then there's the crime of you know ascribing daughters to Allah when they themselves you know didn't like where's the fairness in that There were so many things and then he said you know the purest and highest description of greatness and perfection belongs to Allah subhanaa tala. As for these people you want to talk about them you want to describe them you know they

1:40 have the m of so the worst you know horrible description. So we ask Allah for protection you know from ever being anything like that. So then Allah subhana t looking at these people and their actions and their choices he tells us the reality of it that they are drowning in the mercy of Allah they are drowning in the clemency of Allah he doesn't take them to task and if he did like if Allah dealing with them based on his generosity and mercy if he dealt with them based on his fairness what would justice entail and this is a sobering you know concept So he says he says is referring to these idolattors generally crimes of humanity

2:28 but especially these people have done of idolatry. This is a scary verse and You can even you can feel that although Allah subhana wa ta'ala isn't like us he doesn't have emotions he doesn't feel these sorts of things but just on a human level you would think that these people the being who's created them who's given them everything all of these blessings and messengers to guide them and all of that you'd think that they they would appreciate that he deserves gratitude but instead of gratitude and

3:16 just not showing anything. Instead of that, they go and do worse things. They attribute imperfections and you know say he has children and other beings are just like him when he alone is the one who's given them all of their all of the blessings that they have. It's it's the height of vul you know it's wrong. If Allah were to punish If Allah were to punish people immediately like if they got an immediate punishment for what they deserved for their wrongdoing he would mean he would not have left a single living being on earth. He would have left on it the pronoun is referring to earth as you can do in Arabic language but he delays them for an appointed term. Just look at this.

4:07 And when their time comes, when this duration they have to wait and you know the respite they have when that comes they cannot delay it for a moment nor can they advance it. They can't make it happen sooner nor that they would want to but they can't delay it at all. So the delay and me making it happen sooner has is been although like I said they wouldn't want it to happen sooner but it's mentioned here just to show that they have no control over that time they have no way of advancing it and no way of delaying it at all. It's not in their hands. It's in the control of Allahel. So what's the verse saying? He says low and if so as it happens. So low in is used in

4:54 Arabic to express an impossibility. Um you can use it to wish for something. If only I was with him, right? Uh but usually uh it's it's and instead of as a wish you can use it's usually used to refer to something that's not going to happen. It's not going to happen. You can use it with la and it does various meanings here. But is like if he was to do this this would happen but he's not going to. Right? So that's what's understood. But if Allah was to take them to task this would have happened but he's delaying them. So it won't happen because he's delaying them to that particular time time. So indicate

5:40 something hasn't happened due to another reason and Allah hasn't taken anyone to account yet because the reward and the punishment is set for the like the real deal what they're going to have to deal with the you know the the proper punishment. So the root is right is from and even the the the is very strong to seize someone and punish them intensely to attack them to grab them literally uh but punish them intensely and it follows the pattern of which is a two-way action. So um in Arabic like he says elsewhere in the Quran and is there it's like a two-way action

6:27 but he's saying you fear me and obviously Allah is not going to fear us subhana wa ta'ala he's not afraid of anything so why has he used that verb is to indicate that fear me doubly you know your your fearing should be intense to the degree it's like you know twice as much as you'd normally expect so if Allah took them to task and all of These hyper points of hyperbole, they're all pointing to one thing. Let's read this and I'll tell you here refers to all forms of oppression and wrongdoing and but it's especially especially the kufur and the shik now explains it as crossing limits particularly the right of allahel to be

7:13 woripped alone and in in the Quran is often it's often refers to idolatity idolatry like said to his son in right? Don't associate anyone else in worship with Allah because doing that idolatry is a tremendous form of wrong wrongdoing and um so they will be held accountable for it and what people don't get well they think oh so what you know like you know we're free to worship what we want and you know let us worship this statue and let us worship this person they're acting like this but look at the bigger picture you've been created by someone and he's creat created you for a tremendous reward and an amazing place.

7:59 He is the one who gives you food and drink and clothes and blessing and health and air and keeps your heart beating, keeps your blood pumping, keeps your brain working, keep you keeps your hormones functioning in your body, your bones are strong because of him. Your muscles function because of him. Your nerves, your diaphragm, everything. It's him. It's him, Allah subhanaa tala. And then people think eh I don't care. I'm going to go off and ascribe the good of all of this that he that's coming to me from him to someone else. Someone else who's got no vition, no awareness, no consciousness, no understanding, nothing. Why? So it's a heinous crime. And so Allah subhana wa ta'ala is saying

8:46 that if he punished these people as they deserved a proportional punishment this we're talking about his justice idol. if they got a proportional punishment for the they did the wrongdoing of idolatry and worshiping someone else let alone all the other forms of oppression and everything had it been proportional Allah subhanana wa ta'ala and then there's the being used in the the intense form um he's saying that it would have to be so severe not a single living thing would remain on earth that's what would be proportional a punishment so severe that it would end up destroying everything. But that's not the case. So he's saving it for the allowing people to live, allowing

9:33 people to repent, make their mistakes, and repent if they turn back to him. So he says if people understood the severity of worshiping others besides Allah, they would realize that the only just punishment would be complete destruction. But out of his mercy, Allah has chosen to postpone it. So take this opportunity and repent and don't do that. So he says and then so he's delayed it until the day of judgment. Firstly because Allah allows people to make their mistakes and have some time to repent. Secondly, if they don't then they continue and they dig a deeper hole for themselves and the punishment comes worse. Thirdly, some crimes like genocide and these sorts of things are

10:19 so severe that one, you know, what's the most severe punishment you can give someone in this life? You take their life. One death isn't sufficient. Imagine someone that goes and kills 500 people and then the court that tries him says, "Okay, you're going to be put to death." And imagine all the pain and the suffering and the difficulty and all the all the hurt the loved ones of each one of those dead people face. The parents and the spouses and the children, the kids growing up without say the father or the mother and the siblings and everyone feeling all of that pain and then you know he's put to death once. Is that

11:04 really just? So in this life you can't really get true justice. So that's why he's created the to deal with that. And so for these people then the only just punishment would be that and going from there Allahh then tells us about another crime of theirs. or we have another or another and I'll explain all of them. They attribute to Allah what they hate for themselves i.e. daughters as we said and their tongues utter the lie that they will have the finest reward without a doubt for them is the fire where they

11:50 will be abandoned. Wow. Okay. So they say they ascribe to things to God. They dislike claiming that it's his will. When it came to charity, they give the worst of it. They dedicate that to Allah. They give bad stuff to the idols. Why? They're not even real. And they recognize Allah as the creator. He's created everything. And then the things they didn't like, daughters, whatever, they describe it to Allah. And you know and then on top of that we'll see on top of that you know speaking claiming things that on behalf of Allah without having any any right or authority to do so you know they don't want anyone they don't want anyone to share in their status or wealth they don't like anyone

12:36 to be equal to them be peerless yet they'll actually worship idols alongside Allah they offer sacrifices that's one way they offer sacrifices to idols And then they give the worst of those things, you know, they'll imagine the rotten food or whatever to Allah that they'll dedicate it to Allah. And despite disliking distort daughters, they attribute them to Allah. Allah exposes this double standard and this corruption, right? It's just pure hypocrisy. Pure hypocrisy. This is not how you treat your um fellow human beings, let alone being like this towards your creator. So he says generally means to describe in detail in the Quran there's a nuance that is talking about lies that whatever

13:23 is be being described here means that there's a lie involved like the verse flawless is your lord the lord of all might beyond what they falsely describe him to be like oh he's got partners and this you know these things it's all a lie So, so, so he says, he says these people elaborate on their theories about the hereafter and we're going to have this reward and we're going to have that reward and we're going to be in paradise and we're going to have the best of palaces and all of these things claiming they will receive the best. And Allah describes all of this as how dare you how dare you speak on behalf of Allah. How dare you say you're going to get this? How dare you? Right? It's a

14:10 complete lie. as they claim, right? You have no authority to do this and especially after they insult him subhanahu wa ta'ala and worship these idols. So he say absolutely without a doubt that they're going to have the fire. So so instead of you know them actually getting what they going falsely going around and claiming oh we're going to have this reward, we're going to have that reward. No, he says no. Without a doubt, they're going to have the hellfire. They can expect that. They can look forward to that because that's what they deserve. That's what they they deserve for their lives about Allah. That's what they deserve about all the, you know, double standards and everything else. And then he [Music]

14:57 says, so there are three. He says one is which comes to from which means to go ahead and prepare a place like setting up water on a campsite or someone. So they're going to go ahead and they're going to be sent ahead you know before others to the hellfire. The other one means it can come from meaning to forget someone. So they'll be sent ahead to the hellfire and they'll be ignored and neglected there like someone who's forgotten. Allah does not forget anything but they'll be sent there and they'll be ignored. And the other is is with a which indicates that they went to excess in their lies and vile actions and rejection of God and all the wrong

15:43 they do they did. So because they were went to excesses in their lives they're going to get an excessively painful punishment. And then there's a third and this word is interesting and you have and then you have and so means to go in excess do something excessively means for the deficiency. So the third is for the deficiency. So they were deficient in fulfilling the rights of God and they went to excesses in all the lies and false claims about God and all the double standards and everything. And so we have

16:29 this meaning that they were deficient with regards to what God was do and then excessive in their crimes. So they're going to be sent there ahead of other people into the hellfire and forgotten there. Ignored. Go there. Enjoy yourselves now. This is what you sent ahead for yourself and you had all the warnings and all the guidance which you could have adopted you chose not to. So here you are. This is the bed you've prepared for yourself. Lie in it. Allah protect us. So then he says by Allah we have surely sent

17:15 messengers to communities before you oh prophet but Satan made their misdeeds appealing to them. So he is their patron today and they will suff suffer a painful p punishment. So firstly is a uh we've looked at this before. It's used to express shock and so Allah is saying that you know we he's saying it to the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam but the intended audience is someone else and you know it's sometimes they're more receptive and sometimes even it's not addressed to them and sometimes they're saying you're not worth addressing. I'll address someone who is worthy of being addressed. You listen then. So maybe you'll get the point. So he says we sent

18:02 messengers to many many of these um nations umam just before you. So the just before indicates although there were large spans of time hundreds of years in between but he's presenting it as very close almost like you you recognize you know it's a pattern it's a successive pattern they were very close to each other. This is how things are and so so many people got these messengers. But what happens is there's a test, isn't it? So Shayan came and the devil came and made their deeds look nice to them, their bad deeds look nice. So he sayan

18:48 came by God shocking this we truly sent to many many uh uh nations just before you messengers right implied for uh uh yeah so uh from to be far so he's far from any good don't expect any good he wants the worst fate for you he wants the worst outcome that's why wanted for those people. So he made their deeds appear beautiful to them. So the bad deeds they did, the bad deeds they did seemed great. Yes. Why why shouldn't we wrong these people? Why shouldn't we take their land and their property? Why shouldn't we? We are deserving of it. These people are not even worthy of it.

19:33 That's one thing. And then he made their good deeds seem ugly. So doing good things are objectively good. He made them seem ugly. So what do you think is the result of this? They were like well wow this is great. We don't want to do that. So what was good they saw as bad. What was bad they saw as good. So they stubbornly persisted in doing the bad over and over and over and over and over again. That's what they got out of it. So they turned away from God. They insulted God. They insulted his messengers. They oppressed Allah's slaves. They harmed people, took their property, all sorts, the vilest, worst deeds because they chose to ignore the guidance the prophets gave. And the

20:20 prophets actually warned about these people. And the prophets warned about being like the people of the past who are like this. Don't be like them. The prophets warned that this is what shaitan does. What do you think the Quran is doing? It's telling us that this is what happened to people of the past. Shaitan makes you it seem like doing bad deeds are good is good. So honestly so then you know he says and he is their ally today and so some with some saying this refers to the worldly life and others argue is the hereafter specifically the day of judgment when they cast into the hellfire. So what's happening? Allah says

21:06 So because the previous verse the context is about uh the day of judgment that they're going to get to the day of judgment and you know they're going to be Allah saving the punishment until then. Um you could argue that he's saying that today on the day of judgment shan is their ally and we know like he's nobody's friend he doesn't like anyone of humanity. He had an inferior inferiority well a superiority complex with sad Adam thought he was better than him and consequently he hates every single one of his descendants even those who are foolish enough to go and be his allies and you know they want to help him out and you know get help from him all these fools um you know that he's being cast out by God you know that he's

21:51 you know he's the enemy of God and then you still you want to serve him like okay we picking a losing side. So anyway, they went there and you know they condemned themselves by following him. So he's their ally today. If you say so the the verse is referring to him on the day of judgment, are they going to get any help from him? No. Can he even help them? No. So if he's their ally today on the day of judgment and he's completely useless in that regard, what's going to happen to them? Complete utter destruction. and they're going to face the consequences of their actions and they'll have deserved every one of them and that's because of their own choices. Or the other position is he's saying that he's their ally today in this dunya. He's their ally. He makes them

22:37 think yes do this you'll be all right. Do that you'll be all right. This is how you you know harm those people. This is how you come out on top. and he he's been around he's been around for millennia and he's got a lot of tips and tricks and he's got a lot of you know experience Allah protect us from even you know being influenced by him let alone anything what these people have done and so he's convinced them and then so he's their ally today but what's going to happen on the day of judgment he's going to say you did this to yourselves don't blame me lum and fusakum blame yourselves. So how how are they going to feel then before they get sent into that punishment before they get sent to

23:22 suffer the torment of the hellfire and when they're suffering in there how are they going to feel left us what do you expect literally he's it's almost like he's written on his forehead I will betray you why are you going to him so then oh yes I missed the verse so he says So Allahh has given us these three reasons. He says we have not we have revealed the book to you uh only to clarify for you to clarify to them what they differed about. So they differed about the reality of the day of judgment

24:08 and these things with their previous prophets. Allah has sent the book to the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam so he can clarify that and they differed about you know what does God want and who deserves worship and you know idols and everything and he's clarified all that in the book and he sent it as a huden perfect guidance you have the word and then there's a very open-ended meaning open-ended sound it's not as strong as hudah huden It's powerful. That's why he uses inah. And so Allah subhana sent as a as a book to clarify what's right, what's wrong and then as a a guidance how to

24:54 follow the way to live the best life here and be saved from any potential torment and to live the best life in the and as a rah a source of mercy because people can slip and people can make mistakes and people you know don't always act their best and if they mess up but they are trying to apply the Quran and live by the Quran and recite the Quran and understand the Quran, Allah will grant them mercy. So, and it's a vast guidance and a vast mercy for whom? For everyone. But who's willing to take the bull by the horns and to apply it for these people of great potential who believe again and again and again? They believe every time things turn up

25:41 in their life, Allah is with us. We believe in Allah. He's our master and they believe like this and then they're saved. Right? So Allah sent this perfect book to clarify what was disputed especially matters of faith and there's guidance the best path for best path forward in this life and those who do it they receive mercy and because they're actively wanting it. They're actively seeking it. They want to be close to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. This is why they do it. This is why they get all of this guidance and this benefit. And what a gift it is. What a gift it is. So let's stop here and we'll continue next time inshallah tala with a look at some more of Allah's blessings and we'll even look at the be inshallah

26:28 what this is named after. Okay. Wasam. Alhamdulillah.
