Let's kick off this incredible day. Our first presenter is the CEO of what is widely recognized as the number one prop trading firm for stock traders, Trade
0:49 the Pool. Michael Katz has over 17 years of experience in trading stocks and futures and is deeply involved in trader development, automation tool automation tools, and real-time risk management. Today, he's revealing what happened when he challenged himself to short penny stocks using only the strategies funded traders use. How I short penny stocks using our funded traders playbook. So, let's dive into it. Mike, it's all yours. >> Thanks so much, buddy. Uh, like always, I'm happy to be here and uh it's a great opportunity uh for me to just share the some of the experience that I got uh over the years and also um you know let the others know about shorting penny stocks and the opportunity there. Um all
1:37 righty. So, we'll begin with that. I actually as mentioned I took on myself the challenge to really start shorting penny stocks uh for the last week right just for the challenge I usually I've been trading for 17 years and and it's usually large cap like Tesla Amazon Nvidia and such or um like maybe 10 years ago I used to trade mostly stocks in play so I wanted to actually challenge myself and and take this this uh opportunity to just listen to our traders. Um as mentioned, we are an online platform for stock traders. So, a lot of our traders really enjoy trading
2:23 penny stocks and shorting them. So I said to myself that would be a great uh webinar just to take the challenge, try it and then share the information that I um or the experience that I um enjoyed while doing this challenge and what I learned from it. So I'll start um with a short uh intro. Like I said, been trading for 17 years, a little bit more um stocks and futures, mostly intraday. Uh today I'm I'm the CEO of Trader Pool. I've been um been in the education um field as well uh developing risk management um and also the head of the traders in a local shop here um um a few
3:10 years ago and I developed also some trading automation tools for our traders basically. Um before I'll dive in, let me get to know you a little bit. Tell me what are you trading? What do you like to trade? How long you've been doing it? Share some information so I will know who's me who's with me on the line. That will be nice to get to know each other and also uh it will help me while I'm uh going through the presentation to know if to go uh more deeper or to keep it more basic according to your understanding. So, uh, share with me on the chat or or the question, um, how long you've been doing that, how long you've been trading, what
3:57 do you like to trade? Would love to see that. While you're doing that, I'll move forward. And basically, as I said, I took some of our top traders, for example, like Sabrina, William, Luke. Uh, you can watch those interviews with all of our funded traders, traders that we give them capital to trade with. uh we're doing interviews just to understand what exactly are they doing and also um to share that on our YouTube channel so you guys can watch it and learn from it as well. So I took three of them that I really enjoyed uh interviewed and for example uh Sabrina she's mostly shorting penny stocks but
4:43 she's doing it on um on a on a swing time uh timeline. So for example, she will hold a trade for two or three days and but she will start intraday to scale in and such. Uh William, a young kid doing an amazing job. And uh also Luke that uh really enjoy finding the the right assets on those penny stocks according to the catalyst that use and from there um I found this rhythm. So I took those traders, I analyzed everything they uh do on a regular basis together with us and from there I started to apply basically or implement the their strategies their um way on
5:30 risk management and everything around this. So that was the the main challenge here shorting penny stocks using only our funded trader strategies of course with real money and uh document documented everything in order to understand what I did uh right and wrong and I'm going to share this one with you uh right now. Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to drop them u in the chat and I'll stop along the way and answer some of them. So, basically shorting penny stocks uh playbook and this is how they operate is looking for those setups either delusion plays um shorting them after financial announcement uh when the
6:18 stock is actually more likely to drop uh pump and dump. This is a classic one. I'm sure everyone is aware of that again. Everything comes from the news and we will talk about that. Uh but a pump and dump will be more aggressive to the upside and also to the downside after uh promotional activity from from the company. Uh technical breakouts. So that could be a place where the stock is popping up reaching a major key level and from there changing uh the direction. So focusing more of of the on the action, the price action and of course um some of them will wait um mostly swing traders that short in penny
7:03 stocks will wait for the first red day. So they will look for a multi-day runners and then um look for the weakness and from there uh short it and hold it for a few good days. So these are all setups and ways to look at at that when you're short in a penny stock, a small cap penny stock and this is how they operate. So I started by just analyzing it and understanding what they do. So uh the first thing that they do is scan of course for the uh setup and looking for the right asset to trade. um a lot of them are trading pre-market not just um regular trading hours. So they will look for through the scanners
7:48 either through through our platforms or um or other platforms they will scan and look for those that gapping up on premarket moving strongly to the upside going up by 100 200 300% and more. So, so obviously that's the first thing that will do they will do and after that once they see that the stock is popping up they will go to the news and try to understand the catalyst behind it why the price is pushing higher. Now when it comes to penny stocks and the pop a lot of the times will be faster than the news. So you will see a very strong move to the upside. Um the news will wait a
8:35 little bit until um you will see some um headlines in order to understand what happened there. But you can definitely or you should definitely watch those because this will tell you eventually you will learn it and and this will tell you that um a news a news uh could be responsible for a pump and dump while a b news will be something to actually hold a little bit of weight before you shorten it. You probably saw it a lot for those of you trading stocks. Um, you probably saw it a lot when when a stock is popping up and then you think it's going to drop, it's dropping just a little bit and then popping up again and then do the uh
9:21 drop. So a lot of the times if you understand the news correctly, you can basically execute better because you realize that some news will push the price super strong and there will be like three trends or three waves until you will see the drop and some of them we will look at um the trades that I made in a second. Some of them will be just a quick pump and then all of a sudden the dump. So the catalyst and the news behind it is super important to understand. Um once you realize that you go to the volume and the price action and you analyze the chart probably the way that most of us um uh do we're
10:07 looking for a major resistant level, major support level, supply, demand, etc. Uh we would look for weakness in the price action. So bars like uh green candles are getting weaker while the sellers are getting into position to start shorting the stock. Uh we would look for um identifying in the risk. So where is my stop loss will be and then uh scaling in and out um of those stocks. All righty. So, here are here are uh four of my biggest wins that I put um just today and a few days ago that I
10:52 traded. Uh Dre, XXI, VLCN, and SBAT. Let me know if you traded those as well. If someone here on the line that traded those in the last few days, let me know. It will be interesting. And each one of them um I wrote the play or the catalyst behind it. Right? So for example, DE that was a classic pump and dump and the stock we will look at it in a second. The stock dropped from 10 all the way to two uh today and and the 70% uh profit or move was just in one day. um XXI XXI
11:38 uh collaboration uh play and the second pump in the in a week VLCN technical breakout 2 hours 230% of gain and ASB although it's um it went from from a very small cap or or almost a penny stock it went all the way up and and today uh it dropped very nicely ly so I took a short there as well and we will look at it uh now. So for example VLCN okay so VCN the company basically announced um it's
12:24 raising 500 million from private investors and looking at the chart you can see the entries and the exit basically uh what I did is um shorted it here as you can see Hopefully you could see it. I can mark it, I think. Let's see. Okay, so this is the entry and then those are the exits. So covering my short. Now the idea, as you can see, it's a it's a pre-market move. Um the hours are in my uh local time, but it's basically this is uh 4:00 a.m. Eastern. So, we're talking about two
13:09 hours into the pre-market session. And what it did, it bounced from around $10, tried to play it a little bit, and then started to move rapidly. I did a few things. First of all, I took a short at first here. We will talk about it in a second. U some of the mistakes that I made as well. So at first I took a short here and then when it popped I covered but when I saw that the price is um cannot break through a new high and then I started uh to short it again. So it popped dropped entered it popped again and then couldn't make
13:55 it. So in that case it makes sense to me when it comes to looking at the price action that the price should decline. And in order to understand it better you can look at the at the movement of the candles that starting to pop right. You can see all the all the big candles that move the stocks higher one after another in most cases. And this is something that I learned from them. In most cases, you won't see more than six up to seven uh push to the upside. In most cases, it will decline on those. But it's not enough. You're not just looking at the pups. You also want to see a major uh liquidity level.
14:41 And if we will look at the chart in a second, I I'll bring out the chart. you will see that the area of $30 this area is actually a major liquidity level from the past. So you understand that the pop should be should decline here because of the major uh level the major level the price action. Uh we will look at the MACD the MACD indicator that showed uh divergence and all of those are showing us that the price might decline here. Of course, before talking about until, where, and how do I take my profit, we first need to understand how do I find the setup or what are the parameters
15:27 that will help me decide if I'm going in. So, we'll go back here. Okay. So what I looked for is like I said the catalyst first how strong it is what is the momentum that comes from the catalyst from the news then um once the price reached a major level I'm looking for capitulation volume increasing while breaking through the price while breaking through a new high the price action as we talked about major liquidity level around the $30 and the MACD did a diversion Yeah, we can.
16:15 Okay, let's look at it here. So, I'm going to uh VLCN that would be easy to spot here. Before the major uh pop, that was a few minutes before the opening bell or an hour before the opening bell, there was this area of $30, right? I'll mark it and push it to the left. Extend it to the left. I'm on a hourly chart right now. Just showing you first what we want to look for, which is the the major resistant level in that case.
17:01 So going back all the way in order to find that uh place right the the area where a lot of the buyers were before. So you can see the pop here then here a little bit they tried to push it here resistance and this is basically the main area. Of course, when it comes to especially when it comes to stocks that are pushing super strong up or down, we won't look for just a specific point, but it will be an area and it's around the $30. Once I saw that this is the area I'm looking for and this is the liquidity that sellers should get in, I started to look for um the other other parameters as mentioned. So, I'm going
17:47 into the one minute chart, right? And that was it. The price pushed higher. This is what we just saw. The my entry was right here. I will zoom in just a little bit. So, you can see the volume increases as well. So, price pushed. I took the first short that I took was here and that was um okay one but I didn't reach the price didn't reach the the full potential and the full exhaustion. So I took a short here but it didn't go all in not with full risk just because not all the parameters was were there. And this is also something that's super important to remember when when it comes to trading
18:32 or finding the right setup. You want to have a few parameters and only when you have everything aligned then you realize that the chances for it to succeed are higher. Right? So in that case when I took the first short I was missing uh the liquidity level and then also the diversions in the MACD for example. But once it popped and reached that liquidity, look at the volume which is incredibly high. And this is something that shows capitulation, right? And then u the pop here on the major resistance level. And look at the MACD, the MACD indicator that shows the
19:19 opposite of what we're looking at at the chart, right? the price going up on the chart while the price declining on the MACD or the highs declining on the MACD. Once you see all of that and you understand and you already popped by 200% or so, you realize that the chances for it to drop are higher. So, I took that short from around here and then covered as you saw on the chart. So this is basically what I would look for and this is what they looked for the our guys. So if they do that then I can definitely um I can definitely trade it as I saw there they are doing great. So this is V
20:07 um VLCN. Uh second one was SBET that was also from today and you can see the same patterns over and over again. So price moved higher reached a certain point when it should decline because of the volume the capitulation price action major key level and then when it drop you can start scale out from the position. Hopefully we will have enough time and we will talk about how to scale out correctly. Uh in this case we can also look at SBAT. So I'm on a one minute chart right and that was when
20:55 I shorted it. It's also uh was on pre-market. So roughly yeah like two hours three hours after the mark after the pre-market opened and sorry an hour and a half after the market opened and again it popped up very nicely from around 37 all the way to 43 and then when it reached a major key level we will look at it in a second and volume started to increase at the top then that was the key for me uh to dive in. Again, in this situation, as you can see, there is no um diversion in the MACD. So, one of the parameters are out, meaning the setup is the quality of
21:43 the setup is a little bit um less than usual. But still, you can see the volume increasing at the top, meaning a lot of the buyers are coming in thinking that the price will continue to the upside. sellers can come in and um can sell them or short on them, right? Uh price declined after that and that was a major move to the downside. If I'm going to the hourly chart on SBAT, you can see that the it started to move roughly two weeks ago started to move from $9 all the way to 45. going back you can easily see the resistance the major level that should should have blocked the price
22:28 from continuing higher right let's mark the area just so it will be easier to spot and that's basically it so you got the area here the support that became resistant we tried to push higher here as well that was another key level so if the price will up more. The next resistant level should be the one that we just saw. Sorry, I'm not a great uh not a great painter. So, in that case, um you can easily understand that once the price reaches that after you did all of that and you dropping down to the one minute chart and you see the volume
23:14 increasing, you can understand that it should decline. Of course, not all the time you will know that it's uh supposed to decline right at the price that you're looking at. Right? For example, in this case, although I didn't uh mark it um like on the dot, you can see that it did pop before played with it and only after it played a little bit more then it started to drop. Right? So that was uh S bet. Another one that we can look at is D A R E. And if you uh look at the right side of the the presentation the slide you
23:59 can see that the same concept the same parameters are going uh over you can see them over and over again. you're just changing the symbol, but the idea of how to trade it remains the same. And in this case, D was a classic pump and dump. Phase three, great results. In most cases, um phase three will be, you know, after everyone already understand that the the stock should go up. So in that case, you will see the drop, right? Um, again, we have a a nice move to the upside coming from two or $3 popping up a few times trying to break to a new high right here. Trying to break to a new high then
24:47 the volume increases high volume coming in once you at the top. Doesn't make sense that you will see so much volume coming in when you're on the when you're at the top of the break. In most cases, it will be just a manipulation. And once it's showing more weaknesses, then you go in, addit a little bit more, and then covered uh along the along the drop. We'll see in a second. I did a major mistake here. And I'll show you in a second. But that was my uh key to get in or the parameters that I needed. Capitulation, volume, price action, major key level, MACD, diversion. Let's look at that here on the charts.
25:35 So, first of all, going on a hourly chart. Going back a little bit or a little bit more. Uh, let's see if I can. Yeah, let's increase that. So, going back already marked the level be from before. Let's take the daily. And you can see the major level on at around $10, right? It's super easy to spot. It's starting from here support another one another one and then the drop. So it makes sense that if we will pop to this area and again in most cases I will I will mark an area like a triangle um rectangle. So in this case uh it's between 988 10 a little bit
26:20 higher than $10 but you can easily spot that this is the area it should drop from. Right. And and this is also something very important that I saw that our traders uh uh do they are looking for that simple moves the the simple uh way to find those liquidity levels. Once you understand that and once you see that it's much easier um to trade them because it's not complicated. You're not looking for a unique level that no one is watching. you actually want to trade something that a lot of the guys are watching because then you will get the reaction. So um one minute chart that I'm looking at again pre-market move
27:08 a few yeah like 30 minutes 15 minutes before the opening bell pop to the top resistant another one here. Now you can say maybe you can short it from here or maybe from uh the second pop. What I missed in in this case and this is why I waited a little bit more. First of all, the the phase three um news actually pushed the price very strongly to the upside and also there are no uh volume and no diversions in the MACD. So I actually wanted to wait just a little bit more. It popped again. Volume coming in. Look at the volume once the break is occurring. Right. A lot of the guys are actually looking
27:54 to go long on this situation. And this is why big players are coming in and selling or shorting the top, right? Because many of us will know that you know you you need to have um a pattern or high volume when you're breaking. So a lot of the guys new guys are looking to buy the stock. But at the end of the day, when a lot of them are trying to buy, that's exactly the moment when smart money can get rid of the stocks or the shares or actually just going short. So high volume coming in at the top resistant and you got the MACD divergent. Price is declining on the MACD while it broke to a new high.
28:42 same uh same situation as you can see it and it's occurring every day that that's incredible to see that every single day you will you will find those stocks. So it's also super easy once you understand the setup and what you're actually looking for. It's pretty uh simple to to spot and going going for the last one xxi. So that's uh that's also a nice trade from uh from today the stock is popping up many percentage up as you can see coming from around $5 all the way to 12 right and then you can see easily as as you
29:28 just saw on the others you have the first pop that start the move another one and then on the third and fourth it's becoming weaker. So, of course, like always, we want to see a major key level volume. I will zoom in in a second and show you a volume coming in at this area when we're at the top. Not not when we started the move, but actually when we reach the top, the major resistance level. And then if you got the MACD is always uh great to see as well. Another great indicator that will show you that the price should uh decline. So, let's uh have a look at that. XXI the report was on collaboration with
30:15 tobacco companies. All righty. And I guess tobacco companies are not that great for for the stock. So it popped from like I said four four and a half. It was also uh in this case the resistant the major resistance level was actually a few days before. Look at the pump here and then another drop. Same thing happened here. Pump reached the top new high on the $13 round number and then uh the drop. Zooming in, you can easily see the same concept, the same patterns that we just talked about, right? You have the pump, it broke this
31:00 triangle, high volume coming in, has it breaking the $13. Couldn't do that. couldn't break through. A lot of the guys that are looking at it, especially new guys that coming in and trying to uh trade penny stocks because obviously it's super exciting and they can make 100% in a day. So, they buying when it's breaking the 13. And this is the classic move for smart money to drop their shares or to go short in this case. Uh volume coming in, very nice volume at the bottom. And then you can easily see also the MACD with the nice diversion dropping while price increasing or getting to a new high
31:48 volume and everything we just talked about. And this is also um an an easy one to spot. It's always repeat itself. And this is the beauty of it. you can actually find even tomorrow from tomorrow you can actually find those stocks and and do your trades or at least try to play with them. So these are the setups. Try to remember that. I'm sure if you will start watching it, it will make sense to you and after you just uh after what we just um talked about. So a few mistakes that I made and this is also something that they talked about the guys uh our funded traders that I
32:33 interviewed they also talked about those things and I did the same mistakes so I want to share with you um because they are super important one is the mistake is not leaving a runner right and this is actually something that I've been talking with with my guys a lot of the times and on my trading like a regular trading, I will usually leave 20 to 10 to 20% of the position to continue to run because you will never know in advance if the stock should decline much more or um finish and continue to pop right after you took that short. So, for example, we just saw XXI
33:20 and if you're looking at uh the numbers here, the prices. So I took that short at the top right around this area. But then my covers are here 10:15 1094. So around this area and look what it did after that it went all the way to the 650 area. So I left a lot of uh money on the table. Right? So in this case um we need to do one important thing and keep some of the position on. Of course, I I don't know, like I said, I don't know in advance that it will drop or maybe, you know, I covered and then it
34:07 would go to a new high. But if the setup is super strong, like the entry setup is super strong, A+ you got all the parameters, the capitulation, volume, price action, major key level, MACD diversion, then the chances are you will see another U continuation. And this is not just a reversal but actually a new trend that starts right. So when you have a key setup like a plus setup you want to leave some on the table. A lot of the times when I'm looking at our traders um portfolio or traders um you know just performance I see that a lot of the times they could have made
34:52 much more than exactly as I'm showing you right now. they could have made much more by just leaving like 10 15%. The reason most traders won't do that is just because they are too scared u to lose that trade or even if they took a profit they would don't want to you know um make it smaller. So um decrease the the profit. So in that case what I would recommend to do is just start by leaving 5% right at the beginning when you leave 5% on the table. So let's say I took 2,000 shares, right? I can leave instead of covering everything. I can leave just even a 100 shares to run and let it show me over time, let it show me that it's
35:40 actually working and I should do that. Right? Once you are aware of that and once you prove yourself that most of the time it will drop or like 70% 60% and it makes sense on the risk side then you realize that and and your mind is set to actually increasing that. So instead of 5% after two uh three months that you're trading and leaving 5% to run you increasing that you see that it makes sense you're increasing that to 10 makes sense increasing that to 15 20 and such. So that's just a a psychological aspect of teaching your brain to get used to the fact that the stocks should in most
36:26 cases will decline more than what you took. Uh it's not an easy task at first, but because you are only leaving 5% at the beginning, it will be much easier for you to commit to those 5% instead of um you know leaving half of the profit. The worst case scenario, you lost on that 5% or or maybe you know just break even. All righty, that was one mistake that I did uh today. Don't do that. Um second mistake, going in too soon. Okay. So, I showed you the the first trade that I took on uh VLCN. So, the second one was here and then I took the drop, but the
37:12 first one was right here. And I did uh enter pretty soon. And like I said, the the major key level was here. And the diversion, the main diversion was also here. and also the volume, the diversion in the MACD and the volume. But I actually took that first trade right here and obviously I lost it. It bounced uh strongly up. So going in, you want to go um you want to wait for that setup. And this is obviously something again hard to do because we are traders. We're looking for that next click on the mouse key. We want to uh trade. But if we are uh waiting for the right setup, the chances are obviously that the price the
37:59 setup to work and and um eventually increase the success rate. What you can do is also that's also an hack um a trick that you can do if you're fast on the keyboard and actually cannot wait till that trade to get you the A+ setup and this is let's say a B+. what you can do is just take again a smaller size instead of going all in. Right? So in this case and this is the basically the third mistake that I did on that trade which is going too heavy at the beginning. So I took um a thousand shares here stocks that is moving you know few hund
38:46 um few hundred%. So, I took a thousand shares here and that was too heavy. Instead, if I decided to go in on a let's say a B+ setup, right, what I should have done is take it a little bit slower and that way if it pops up against me, I can either add more to the position because I'm within the um risk dollar that I'm willing to lose. Let's say I'm risking just throwing numbers. I'm risking 50. I'm willing to to lose 150 on a trade, right? And instead of risking 150 here, I can do 75.
39:31 I can risk 75, let's say. And then when it's popping up, I will risk another 75 and then I'm good with my 150 loss. So either that or just cover the um at the stop at the top of the top of the range the high and then you're done with that trade waiting for the right setup here and then starting to execute again. So once you doing that once you again start small and build the position you give yourself a lot more room to um to be wrong on your entry but still continue to hold that trade. um because you didn't risk the full amount that you were willing to lose uh at the
40:16 beginning. Hopefully, it makes sense. I see you guys are writing. Uh keep them coming and I'll go over that hopefully if we'll have a chance. Okay, so these are the main mistakes that I did. um a lot of them are doing the same and and I'm sure um a lot of everyone here doing uh the same too. So try to take those tricks and play with it instead of instead of con convincing yourself that you got to stop doing the wrong thing. You actually need to prove your brain and train your brain so it will stop doing that, right? It's not zero to 100. You got to build it. So
41:02 start by 10, 20, 30 and such. All righty. Okay. So we we are talking about like I said position sizing hard stop. Um and this is something that will break a little bit of myths but hard stop are out. So, a lot of the guys are putting stop losses in the system like a hard stop and that could work for for some. For me, I actually prefer not to do so because I rather manage the trade and the risk so it will fit my style. So, as I mentioned before, you know, when when you're looking at the chart or or as we
41:48 talked about before here, if I'm entering that trade and I'm actually entering with a smaller size, I'm giving myself the opportunity that even if the price will pop up again against me, I'm still okay because I'm not risking the full uh the full amount, right? The full risk that I'm willing to take. And that's the main thing again for me. Maybe one guy will put his stop loss here, enter here, right? Put his stop loss here and he's done after the pop. For me, it makes more sense. And what works for me for many, many year is basically taking here, if I'm taking a B+ is taking here 50% of the risk or
42:35 even lower, depends on the setup, right? Risking only $50 out of the 100. And then when it's popping up here, it reaches $80 loss out of 100, which is great for me because I'm willing to lose that 100 and I'm only losing 80, right? So I'm okay because I entered with 50% or less than that. All righty. So moving forward. Okay. So hard stop liquidity awareness. Of course, uh you want to find stocks
43:21 that are actually moving that that you can see liquidity. The spreads will be a little bit tighter than uh than those that are not. and then the execution will be better and the catalyst as um mentioned you got to find those catalyst that are actually making sense understanding them and this is by the way not just for penny stocks if you're trading maybe not large cap but if you're trading stocks in play right uh stocks that are gapping up or down but there are midcap or so you know even large cap maybe not uh Nvidia and Tesla but other stocks that are popping up or down because of earnings, because of uh new product, layoff, investigation,
44:07 whatever it is. Once you understand what is behind the catalyst, what what's behind the news, then you realize um how strong it should continue to pop or what are the chances for it to start dropping from here, right? Is it a pump and dump or delusion? Is it something that could break through a new high and go to the next major key level or it will drop from here? So, understanding the catalyst is super important if you're trading penny stocks, if you're trading um on stocks that are basically gapping up or down. So, stocks in play. Okay.
44:56 Lastly, try to adopt those techniques. Okay? Start small, master one setup. What I showed you uh today is literally one setup, right? It covers the pump and dump and the delusion and everything around it. But at the end, it's the same setup. the push to the upside looking for uh that stop that resistant level the liquidity that will stop the buyers from coming in the catalyst behind it. Uh make data reversion volume coming in price action that shows uh weakness and everything that we just talked about. And once you focus on one setup, it's
45:42 much easier for you to become a master in it, right? you you learn you develop it you understand the nuances and from there it's easier to execute and by the way when you already understand for example let's uh I'm going back for XX III right so I shorted it here right when it popped but you can actually and this is a classic reversal but generally speaking so that was my short but generally speaking And you might be a pullback guy, right? So you can look if you go to a higher time frame, let's say, let's try the let's try the five minutes even,
46:29 right? On a higher time frame, it's easier for you to spot the pullback after the drop. So that was the drop. It's pulling back. That was one key level that you can enter. And of course the second one another pullback going into the support levels here and then the drop. So, so it doesn't have to be a reversal aggressive reversal when you really catch the top but actually once you understand that from here it should decline then you can start looking for those setups of u a trend following right so that that's the the idea behind it as well or or a break of that support level right
47:15 Okay. So, uh the setup obviously document everything trade uh you can use um any type of trading journal. Trader sync is one of our uh good partners. You can use also uh trader uh view vue also a great partners of ours and just do the maximum take get the maximum out of it when you actually tracking it and building your own uh unique way with tags and all the information you can add on top. And of course always better to trade with a community and in this case our funded traders community. Uh you guys can see
48:02 us on uh Discord and live YouTube channel. Um we are very much out there and looking to support our traders and that will be the key uh for us. Um trader pool if you want to join us and try it. Trader poolool is basically a limited risk trading. Meaning you can put $50 $100 into the test. Once you trade and pass an evaluation, as we call it, a challenge, a test, you become a funded trader. Of course, there are rules, there are uh parameters that you need to um follow in order to do so. But once you understand the benefits, I mean,
48:49 makes sense. If you're getting if you're paying $100, you're getting 25k to trade with. It just makes sense instead of, you know, doing it with a broker. Um, I'll go over some of the questions and if you guys have anything else, feel free to put them in the chat. Okay, Mike. Um now I'm looking at V LCN once back side confirm. Okay. 5 on your chairs. Nice. All righty.
49:36 Amazing likes. So you do that uh traded Nume. Let's look at that for a second. Anthony, do we have time? >> Well, we are we're actually at time. >> At time. >> Yeah. He's a CFA and CMT, a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg, and Fox News. Uh today he's unveiling one of the highest performing strategies. Uh let's welcome his presentation, how our QQQ option strategy has been doubling in a day, the 2025 playbook. >> It's all yours. Hey, >> thanks so much, Anthony. Hey, appreciate
51:54 you having me. It's always a pleasure to be with you all at Trader Corner. And good afternoon, everybody. You know, we're going to jump right into it because I want to uh make sure we keep uh Anthony on time for future presenters. But it's all about speed, right? We're going to move you through in in a speedy but effective way. And we're talking about quick strikes here. We're talking about using the cues, the NASDAQ 100. You mo should know what the cues are by now, but if you don't, you know, the NASDAQ 100, of course, driven by names like Nvidia, which of course just passed four trillion dollars in market capitalization. Of course, you got Microsoft, Apple, uh Google, Amazon, you know, you name it. U all the big techs, Meta, Tesla, you basically to trade all of those as one single security, right? So, you're tracking the NASDAQ, you're tracking the leaders, and of course, it's the AI revolution.
52:40 Artificial intelligence, we all know it's driving the train here. And so we want to be taking part in that. You should be taking part of that as well. But not getting stuck in a buy and hold mentality. So we're going to be quick striking in and out within 24 hours, but never have a day trade. So I'm going to walk you through this and remind you that everything I share with you today is based on our proprietary research and intended for illustrative purposes only. Everything we talk about here should not be considered specific in advisory recommendations. As you know, stock and options trading have large potential rewards, but let's face it, they also have large potential risk. We're going to talk about both sides of the coin today. how we manage uh when they work and when they don't. And remember that any past performance of any trading system or method is not necessarily indicative of its future results. Future results are going to vary. The key is you got to be consistent through the winners and the losers to follow a
53:26 systematic approach. We'll show you how to do that and see our terms of use on our bigtrends.com homepage. So, what I love about this approach is a it's incredibly liquid, right? The NASDAQ 100 QQQ is one of the most active trading vehicles in the market today. And they've got daily options expirations, right? Not just once a week, but every single trading day over the next couple weeks. So, we can kind of customize our strategy to the day. Really ideal for not having to pay for more time than you need. And you get to laser focus on just the one vehicle, right? So, you don't have to scramble on your charts. And I don't know about you, but probably the biggest issue I face in my trading these days is information overload. There's so much information coming at you and at me. We've got to filter that down to what's really effective and and as the prior speaker said, you got to pick even
54:12 of all the great speakers and traders here today, you got to pick one thing, focus on it first and then kind of come back to other things as you kind of master one thing at a time and focus for a while. So, we're going to show you a bunch of success stories when it works, when it doesn't, how how that can stack for you o in your favor over time. We we call it QQQ Options Playbook because we give you the playbook. It's not a blackbox system. and we give you the educational support, the system rules, everything you need to know when you become a QQ Options Playbook subscriber. If you don't know me, I've been trading stocks and options for over three and a half decades. Got the trading bug actually when I was a student at Duke University and quickly got into that into the investment space realizing just the power of ease of getting in and out was always one of the attractions to me. Sure, we all want to make money, but we also want to know if we're not on on the
54:58 right train, we can hop off quickly and relatively easily and move on to the next opportunity, right? Don't get stuck holding dogs and get stuck in that problem mindset all the time. You need to be able to clean those up, move them on to the next opportunity mindset, right? Everything we do is a systematic approach, looking for edges. Let's look at a recent winning trade example from our QQQ options playbook service. We send these trade alerts out in the last roughly half hour of the trading day. Um, at least of the options trading day. The QQ options will actually trade until 4:15 Wall Street time Eastern time. 15 minutes after the cash market closes after you see uh on the news them hitting the gavvel and and hear the closing bell at 4. QQ options are still trading for another 15 minutes. So, we'll get these alerts out usually
55:43 around 3:40. and give you about a half hour or so to get in real time email and also you can get it as a text alert on your smartphone. What are we looking at here? We got daily candles in the top part of our chart here. Obviously, the white open body show we're closing a lot higher than we opened uh or sometimes a little higher. In this case, a lot higher when we got into this one um back on July the 2nd, right before the July 4th holiday. And you say, "Wow, you're going to trade it that close in front of a holiday weekend?" Yes, because we're going to buy more time than we need. We buy the three days out expiration. This was a July 8th expiration. So, you're going out to the following Tuesday. We will never hold it into expiration day. By the way, we will only hold it for a maximum of two trading days. And a lot of times can happen quickly in one
56:30 trading day. What's the bottom indicator? This is Larry Winds indicator called percent R, right? You probably heard of percent R, percent range. I kind of jokingly call it percent T, percent trend when it gets into these super strong modes like the market's been in recently, right? You've seen obviously the jackal and hide nature of the 2025 market with the punishment that you saw back in March and April with the with the liberation day tariff proposal not wellreceived and of course then delayed and helping spark the recovery rally that we've seen in the last several months, right? But the idea is that you've got to know which way to to trade the trend either direction. This was a bullish setup here because we've got a super strong top 20% of our readings, what what I call percent t jokingly, but not really. It's a it's the top 20% of your readings often give
57:16 you the best 80% of your results in this super strong trend mode that we can trade both up and down. We've got some other unique setups, too, which we'll talk through, but this one's one of those where here we are. Look at percent saying, look, we're real close to that recent top of that range. If you were defining the top of the range, it might be tracking off that last high. You can see by the by the close where we get in here, that last 30 minutes of that trading day, we we're we're not quite to that high, right? That high might be 552 and we're trading about 550 and a half. We're sitting at about the 95th percentile right here on that percent reading, right? We're close to those highs. You say, why would you buy something that's near the quote top of the range? Because percent is kind of a misnomer in my experience of when you get a trend going, percent will stay overbought and stay in those top
58:01 percentiles longer than you or I would expect because it's losing the older data. Now, I can't give away the settings and parameters of how far back we're looking at. That's something you get when you become a subscriber. We give all that to all of our paid subscribers. But the idea, the principle is I want to open you up to the idea that overbought is not such a bad thing. In fact, it can be powerfully good, especially when we get a really positive reversal like this. We like the finish of the day. We will not act early in the session because you don't know what's going to happen by the end of the day. Here we sit right now and it's noon time, just afternoon. We're almost to the midpoint of the trading day and yet lots can happen in the next three and a half hours or so, right? We will not fire early. We will wait until we see how that market is finishing because a lot of times the institutional players are making a lot of their moves in the
58:46 final hour of the trading day. really seeing how that market is tonally improving as we go into the close or worsening as we go into the close and making adjustments tied to what they're expecting into the following day or days or weeks. Right? So, the idea here is that we're thinking and and our system says that we have an edge when we buy that strength and finish real strong. And so, here we are. What do we buy here? We're 550 and a half. We're buying out three days till expiration. We're buying the 550 strike calls on the cues. Now remember, if you're new to options, if you bought a 100 shares of the Q's, it would cost you over 55 grand just to control 100 shares. You can control on one option contract the same 100 shares. In this example, we got in for an average entry price of just 407 bucks a contract. It's quoted at 407 and a
59:32 multiply times 100 for each option controlling 100 option contract controlling 100 shares. Right? So, the idea here is that we show our examples based on say you put in up to a,000 bucks a trade. We've got subscribers doing a lot more than that. But it's a nice starter point to say, "Okay, no one trade's going to make or break you." If that's going to make or break you, you probably need to save up some more capital before you start trading, right? You don't want to ever get in a position where you get whatever your whatever your size is, you get too scared and get scared out of a trade. You need to follow the system. Let the winners and the losers stack up over time and let that system prove it to you over a large sample trades, not any one trade. What are we going for here? We're going for a double, right? When we get a double in a day or two later, we will take the double and run. We don't sell part and try to let the rest run after that. We
1:00:19 just say a double in a day or two, one trading day or or a second trading day works just fine for us in our system here. On the on the other end of the coin, we are going to say if it hits a 50% loss, we're going to say get rid of it if it tags your 50% stop-loss. You give up half of what you put in, say goodbye to the trade, right? We're dealing with an option obviously that's only got maybe a half buck intrinsic and about basically three and a half of those four bucks as as time value right so you say okay this is one of the reasons we don't hold them into the final day of expiration I know a lot of traders are all hyped about zero DTE the zero days expiration using Warren Buffett's analogy of the runway I don't think that gives you enough runway to really let your trade pop and it takes on too much risk in our opinion of time risk on that final day is the most accelerated as that option
1:01:06 heads into the final hours of its life. We think we can hop in and hop out pretty quickly and manage that time risk. As you see here, look the next day when it gapped up. You see, we open up here around 553. So, we're about two and a half points higher, maybe about almost a half percent higher. And then we close, of course, all the way up here 5. We trade up to 557.2. Now, you say, well, how are we able to sell it on a 550 call above 7.2? Well, because there's still time value in the trade, right? This trade was closed on that following day, July 3rd, before the Independence Day holiday when the market was closed July 4th. We're selling it mid by midday on the 3 and saying, "Okay, we're done with the trade. We're holding it really for no more than about four hours maximum in this case from the end of the prior day into the new day
1:01:52 and yet never having a day trade, right? Because when we get in, we're going to hold it overnight. We're going to look for that follow-through move and take advantage of the fact that we're targeting more than what we're risking uh on a typical profit target versus a stop expectation. Right? So, the goal is don't get too high on any one trade. Especially if you come off of a couple of winning trades hitting targets, you don't want to then load the boat on the next one. I want to see you steady in your capital allocation. So, like I said, we're using a,000 bucks allocated here. In this example, that would have gotten you two contracts in for 814 bucks total. 407* 2 and then you close it out at the double at 814. You'd be closing the whole position down at like 1,628 bucks and two contracts in, two contracts out. Or this is before
1:02:37 commissions, but commissions shouldn't be costing you more than the a buck a contract in, a buck a contract out with no ticket charge. So maybe four bucks maximum commission on on the two contracts in and out. Net 810 bucks, 814 gross. And that's all in just a matter of like the next the next trading morning practically by before noonish we're hopping out of that. So point being that you know we're looking for that speed. We will not hold it any further after that double because time is still something that we want to manage and we want to also take the bird in the hand and and we see a number of examples and you'll see through these charts where those trades can reverse and we don't want to be caught in that reversal either. Right? So, our core strategy guidelines, hold it two trading days or less. Get in late in the day, right? So, you will never have a day
1:03:22 trade. Even if you're a smaller account, you don't have to sweat day trades with this strategy. There's actually several different percent signals I'm going to show you. Two of them are bullish. And then I'll show you the bearish one as well. Um, so we'll get into that. And then and then we're just buying a call or buying a put, right? You're bullish, you buy a call. You're you're bearish, you buy a put. Three days expiration is our rule. to never hold it past the late day, the day before the options are going to expire, right? We will always be out and before that final day. So, we're using a daily chart because I don't want the noise of an intraday chart. So, we can only get a once a day signal on a Monday through a Friday. Um, and so it can happen late in the day. We will send the trade alerts out around 3:40 p.m. Give or take a minute or two typically, but the idea being that look, you've got till 4:15. You've got about a
1:04:09 half hour to get into these trades. They're very liquid, easy to get in. We give you some room. We don't try to get cute and say, "We got in and you didn't." We want subscribers to be happy. So, we track actual real subscriber experience of average entry prices in those in those minutes after we send the trade alert to everybody. And the same thing on on the way out as well. So, point being that look, okay, what we're doing is minimizing noise, getting the power of the short-term options. 3D DTE is a little bit unique, but it gives us enough runway in a day or two to be in and be out. Win, lose, or draw, right? We're It also saves us and you a lot of time. You don't have to screenwatch. You can enjoy your day. No, it's just that's your point of checking your email andor your text as a subscriber is saying, "Okay, we should be expecting if we get a new trade to come out around 3:40 p.m. Eastern." And
1:04:56 so, and you can always call our 800 Big Trends number if you think you miss something. But the idea is that hey that that will get you plenty of trade opportunities about a couple trades a week or about eight trades a month is our expectation. Now look at the average entry price going back to the beginning of 20123. Our average entry price per options contract was 3.33 or $333 controlling each 100 shares. That in theory would get you an average of about three contracts in on a thousand bucks of of commitment. Sometimes it could be more, sometimes it could be less, but the goal is to be consistent in your capital. I I don't want you to trade the same number of contracts every time because sometimes we might buy an option and it's five bucks and another time buy an option that's two bucks, right? And that wouldn't give you the same dollar exposure if you're just buying three contracts every time. So, more important to get the same dollars overall into
1:05:43 each trade to smooth yourself out, not get too high or too low off of any one trade. No more than two full days held. If if we haven't gotten our profit target or our our stop loss, we just time stop it out and send you a reminder. We're we're getting rid of this trade. um when get out at this certain price or better and that will avoid holding it into the final day of volatility and decay risk. Right? Now you look back at past performance. Remember past performance cannot guarantee future results. Future results are going to vary. But we say look given that you're going to turn these over fast, right? You're not going to be holding multiple trades at once, right? You just buy one. When it's time to get out, you get out and we roll it over into the next new trade, right? The idea is that so just focusing on one trade open at a time. You could take a $25,000
1:06:28 model portfolio. Say you're putting in 5,000 bucks a trade. We'll show you a smaller example next. But $25,000 model portfolio just in the last what year just over a year and a half now. Two, sorry, two and a half years, excuse me, just over uh coming up on 31 months, right? We generated 92,000 plus dollars in gross profit. that $25,000 portfolio grew up there uh as you can see to like 117,000 plus. Right? This is gross though before commissions which have come down so dramatically and before subscription investment which we've got a great starter special for you to try it out here in a little bit. But the idea is, you know, we want to be consistent our cap allocations. We're assuming you're allocating 5,000 bucks a trade and then you get when you close it out, you get that money back at a winner at a higher
1:07:14 level or a lower level, whether you hit a profit or a stop, you get that back and then you go take the next trade up to $5,000 in options investment, right? If you you don't exceed that, right? If you would buy another contract, put you over 5,000, you can't do that. Now, you say, "Okay, what about a smaller account?" I was talking about a,000 bucks a trade. Here's a smaller version of that. You can see a $5,000 model portfolio. You could start with put a,000 bucks in per trade knowing that you're going to only hold one at a time and then just close that one out and roll over to the next one. We have a new trade. So, you're going to be in mostly cash most of the time, right? We get our leverage via the option. But you can see the $5,000 model portfolio grew to $21,710 or $16,710 gross profit before commissions, before subscription investment, staying with
1:07:59 that fixed thousand of trade. Right? So, we're not trying to scale up the amount we invest per trade. One of the problems with scaling up the amount you invest per trade as you grow your portfolio is that you get a good run, you're putting more and more money into a trade and then you get whacked on a draw down and then you're putting too much money into those trades into the draw down. We like the consistency of the set capital fixed amount per trade remembering that past performance can't guarantee future results, right? But the but you see that that's the pretty impressive growth of more than a four bagger gross before commissions and subscription investment in the last now 30 on our 31st month here looking back right so that's that's encouraging right now the the the thing though is that we've got to be consistent about our our capital allocation we've got to follow our system when it says to stop it out we don't hold and hope we say take the loss
1:08:44 the the if if it's not working the first loss is the best loss but we don't recommend being too tight on your stop losses that can whip saw you in these volatile markets. So that's what we use the 50% stop and the 100% target. There theoretically could be like eight categories when you start breaking down the the candle patterns, how strong or weak we are daytoday with the percent setups. If percent is relatively strong in the top part of its range, if it's relatively weak, trading towards the bottom part of its range or somewhere stuck in the middle. What we do is we look at all those patterns and then we go back and grade them based on the history of what if you took this trade when this pattern developed. And we've found that three of those eight patterns are really good, a meaningful profit factor history looking back over multiple years to say, okay, this is worth trading. It's worth risking capital for the reward being outsiz
1:09:31 relative to the risk. Right? The other one's ah it's not good enough. It's uh by the time you wash it all out, it's not going to make you that much. We'll skip those patterns. Right? We're looking for meaningful trends and meaningful patterns. uh even though we know we can't guarantee the future, we we tend to think that patterns are a lot like stocks are a lot like people and patterns are a lot like people. You know, there are some that are more consistent and some that are more volatile and unpredictable, right? We want that greater consistency of history. So, here's another example from late June where you can see in this case you say, "Wow, that looks like kind of a bottom of a short-term range." And it's true. That's a bottom of short-term range. We're looking at more data than that look back period, but you can see that here we go. We've had a nice little consolidation there in the middle of June after the recent runup in the cues and the markets and then you see what
1:10:17 happens. Let me actually take my ink off of there and say look look what happens. You get this actually even this undercut here. I love to see this pattern, right? I call it the flush where you see this undercut intraday and then it has the big reversal to finish near the highs right there late in the day. Right? And you can see we're getting in late in the day. We're not trying to buy that low, right? It's just picking up a pattern that says, "Hey, bunch of people may have gotten flushed, stopped out on their bullish positions, and now the market's left them on the sidelines and ripped back up. We're up to about 531 and a half. We're buying recommending buying the 530 calls, going out three full trading days, and so we're saying, okay, we get in on June 23rd. We're going to get out uh before before the end of the day on June 25th." Now, as it turns out, we get out the next day when
1:11:03 it doubles, right? You see the huge gap up, we we close at 531 and a half. If we actually open close to 537, trade to about 538, right? We got the 530 calls. We paid 430 bucks a piece for him. So that' be on a,000 bucks invested 860, right? If you were putting 5,000 bucks in, of course, you'd get like 11 contracts in for in the neighborhood of about 4,700 and change, right? But the idea is that, you know, what you're looking at here is how how do we kind of trade that? We say, okay, we're betting on that follow through to the upside. typically that next day. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, but the key is are we on the right track towards seeing more upside and and not too much draw down while we're waiting. So that was from one afternoon to the next day.
1:11:49 No day trade, 100% gain sold out at 860
…
