00 [Music] Study IQ is now ready for affordable drainage system of India In this video we will cover all the rivers of India in detail but before starting let us know what a river is. A river is a natural water stream that flows on the surface and whose source is usually a lake glacier waterfall or rain water and from here this river normally falls into another river lake or ocean. Many small and big rivers fall into a major river which we call tributaries and many times a river can also be divided into many branches which we call distributors. For example
45 Ganga's tributary is Yamuna and in West Bengal Ganga gets divided into Hooghly and Padma. So the area from the source of the river to its sink and the area of its tributaries and distributors are called drainage basin or river basin. There are 12 major basins in India whose total area is more than 20000 sq km and there are 46 rivers Basins are called medium river basins whose area is between 2000 to 20000 sq km. River basins of less than 2000 sq km are called minor river basins. In India, you can also classify rivers according to their source, such as Himalayan river systems and Peninsular river systems. For example, Ganga is a part of the Himalayan river system, while Narmada is a part of the Peninsula river system. Or you
35 can classify these rivers according to the sink, such as rivers draining into the Arabian Sea and rivers draining into the Bay of Bengal. For example, Narmada Indus drains into the Arabian Sea, while rivers like Ganga Brahmaputra fall into the Bay of Bengal. Also, you can classify rivers according to the water flow in a river, such as Perennial Rivers and Non-Perennial Rivers. Perennial rivers have a good flow of water throughout the year, that is, these rivers are not completely dependent on rain water. For example, Indus, Yamuna, Ganga, Kaveri, all these are examples of perineal rivers, whereas non-perineal rivers are mostly dependent on the range for their flow, that is, in the dry season, these rivers contain very little water. So friends, in this video
21 we are going to see the rivers according to Himalayan drainage and Peninsula drainage, so let's start with Himalayan rivers. We can divide Himalayan rivers into three major river systems, Indus, Ganga and Brahmaputra. So let's start with the Indus River System. The origin of Indus River System Sindhu i.e. Indus is Mansarovar Lake in the Kailash Range in Tibet and from here to the Arabian Sea, the total length of this river is 3120 km. From here this river departs in the North Western direction. In Tibet, it is known as Sangi Sangpo or Singhi Khamban and in Tibet, a large tributary Gar Sampo falls into it. After entering India from Dam Chop, this river passes through Le, the capital of Ladakh,
08 and after Le The confluence of Indus takes place at Zanskar and here the Janska River carries more water than Indus. A little ahead of this confluence, near Alaj, the Ninu Basco Hydro Electric Power Plant is constructed on Indus, which is also called Nimu Dam and it is a run of the river type dam. After this, Indus crosses the Line of Control i.e. LOC and enters Pakistan occupied Gilgit Baltistan where it merges with Shyok River coming from Siachen Glacier. Friends, Shyok and Indus together create a boundary between Karakoram Ladakh and Janska Ranges. To the north of Shyok and Indus, you get to see Karakoram Ranges, between Shyok and Indus,
56 Ladakh Ranges and to the south of Indus, Janska Ranges, after which Indus receives water from many big and small rivers in Gilgit, out of which Gilgit River is the most important. Further ahead, Indus takes a sharp southward turn from Nanga Parbat and after this enters Pakistan. Just before entering the Punjab Plains of Pakistan, the Tarbela Dam is constructed on this river. Next, after the confluence of Indus with Swat and Kabul River, this river enters the Punjab Plains from Ghazi near Attock. Further ahead, the Indus receives the waters of Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas and Sutlej coming from India at Mithan Kot and the combined waters of all these rivers are called Panch Nat. So friends, let's
42 take a look at the major tributaries of Indus in Punjab. Shelam River: This river originates from Veri Nang located at the base of Pir Panjal Ranges, which is located in South East Kashmir, from where this river enters the Kashmir Valley and receives the waters of two major tributaries, namely Lider River and Vaish River, after which, passing through Avantipura, this river reaches Srinagar, where it is connected to the Dal Lake through a canal. Here, in the relatively plain area of Kashmir Valley, Jhelum starts meandering during its mountainous course. Beyond Srinagar, this river falls into the Wular Lake in the north of Kashmir Valley, which is also India's largest freshwater lake. Coming out of Wular Lake, this river cuts through the Pir Panjal Ranges from Baramulla and
28 reaches Uri, after which this river enters Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and receives the water of Neelam River in Muzaffarabad and India is developing Kishan Ganga Hydro Electric Power Station on the Neelam River. Taking a southward turn from Muzaffarabad, this river turns towards Punjab Plains and Mangla Dam is constructed on this river near Mirpur City, after which the Jhelum is called Sangam near Jahang in Punjab Plains. Historically, the Battle of Hydaspes was fought between King Porus and Alexander the Crete on the banks of Jhelum River and in Greek language Jhelum is called Hydaspes and in Sanskrit it is called Vita Sta.
13 Next, let us talk about Chenab River, which originates from the Lahaul region of Himachal Pradesh. 12 Chandra river originates near Chandratal in the east of La Chhala pass and Bhag river originates from Suryatal in the west of this pass and both these streams namely Chandra and Bhaga meet. After Taans this river is called Chandra Bhaga or Chenab and in Sanskrit we know this river by the name Askani. From Andi this river flows in the North Western direction and enters after Chamba district of Himachal. Here in the Padar of Jammu and Kashmir we are constructing Ratle Hydro Electric Run of the River Dam on Chenab River. Further through Kishtwar and Doda this river
00 reaches Ramban and near Ramban itself Baglihar Dam is constructed on this river, ahead of which Salal Dam is also located on this river and a little ahead of Sallal Dam you get to see the place where India's largest lithium reserves have been recently discovered. Yes, near Reasi next this river enters Pakistan near Akhnoor where Pakistan's Passing through Gujarat, the river receives the water of Jhelum in Jahang. Friends, this small tributary of Munawwar Tawi is the starting point of the Line of Control, i.e., in the South East of Munawwar Tawi, you get to see the international border between India and Pakistan and in its North West, the LOC, i.e., the Line of Control and further
45 ahead, in Ahmedpur Sial, near Sarai Sidhu, the river merges with the Ravi River. So, let's talk about the Ravi River next, which originates from 12 Bengal in Himachal Pradesh and this river also moves in the North Western direction and reaches Chamba Town, a little ahead of which the Chamera Dam is constructed on this river. A little ahead of this dam, the Ravi River demarcates the border of Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir and reaches the tri-point of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. On this border, you get to see the Ranjit Sagar Dam and near Madhupur in Punjab, this river demarcates the India-Pakistan border for 80 km and across this border, you get to see the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor,
33 which is a corridor. It connects Kartarpur Sahib and Dera Baba Nanak Gurudwara and through Lahore in Pakistan, the river meets Nab at Sarai Sidh near Ahmedpur Sial. Friends, Harappa town of the famous Indus Valley Civilization is located on the Ravi River and in the Vedic text, the Ravi River is called Basni. The next river in the Indus River system is Beas, which originates from Beas Kund near Rohtang in Himachal Pradesh, from where this river reaches Kangra District via Manali, Kullu, Mandi District, where Pong Dam is constructed on this river and Pong Dam is also known as Maharana Pratap Sagar Dam and this reservoir has also got the recognition of Ramsar Wetland, after which this
20 river enters Punjab and merges with Sutlej at Harike. Friends, Beas River is known as Arij Ka or Pasha in Sanskrit. So friends, let's talk about Sutlej River. Sutlej River originates in Tibet near Mansarovar Lake. The river is located at Raksha Sthal Lake and in Tibet this river is called Lang Quan Zangbo. This river enters India from Shipkila located in Kinnaur of Himachal and flows in the eastern direction and reaches Chhaba which is located about 45 km north of Himachal's capital Shimla and a small dam is constructed on Sutlej in Chhaba from where drinking water is provided to Shimla. From here this river reaches
06 Bilaspur, further on which Bhakra Nangal Dam is constructed on this river near Bhakra and we also call these dams Govind Sagar Dam and from Nangal the river enters Punjab and passes through Rupnagar to Ludhiana and from Ludhiana reaches Harige where Sutlej meets Beas. Friends, Harike Patan Bird Sanctuary in Harike has got the recognition of Ram Sar site and along with Beas River, you also get to see Indus River Dolphin in Harike. Indira Gandhi Canal has been drawn from Harike itself which connects Ganganagar and Irrigates Bikaner. After Harike, Sutlej River enters Pakistan near Kasur and joins Chenab at Uch Sharif, after which
51 this river is called Panch Nat and the confluence of Panj Nar with Indus takes place near Mithan Kot, after which Indus falls into Arabian Sea through Delta in the east of Karachi. Friends, at one time a distributor of Indus River used to fall into Arabian Sea through Ra of Kutch, but after the earthquake of 1819, the land here got elevated, due to which an elevated area named Allah Band was created, after which this distributor of Indus got diverted towards Pakistan. Today the water of Indus and its tributaries is divided between India and Pakistan under Indus Water Treaty. This treaty was made between India and Pakistan by the World Bank in 1960 and
36 according to this treaty, the water of three western rivers namely Indus, Jhelum and Chenab has been allocated to Pakistan. On hearing the waters of Eastern Rivers namely Ravi, Beas and Sutlej, India, it seems that three rivers of Pakistan and three rivers of India have equal distribution, but if we look at the volume of water, Indus, Jhelum, Chenab carry 80% i.e. 99 billion cubic meter water and Chenab is also the largest tributary of Indus, while Ravi, Beas and Sutlej carry only 20% i.e. 41 billion cubic meter water, so friends, this is about Indus river system, let us next talk about Ganga river system, but friends,
22 before starting, let me tell you that in my time, if you wanted to start UPSC preparation, then you had to spend lakhs of rupees, but still you did not get quality in your preparation and if you talk to the aspirational and selected candidates before you, then you will understand better about the challenge of that time, but today friends, technology has made this preparation affordable as well as of excellent quality and today almost everyone is able to prepare for their UPSC. 13:53 in the live classes on Instagram2. Let's come back to this video. Dang ji's total length This river is 2510 km long. It originates from Gangotri glacier in the form of Bhagirathi and after its confluence with Alaknanda at Devprayag, this river is called Ganga. Before Devprayag, Alaknanda and its tributaries create Panch Prayag. Alaknanda river originates from Satapath glacier of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, from where this river reaches Joshi Math near which Alaknanda merges with Bhauli Ganga at Vishnu Prayag, which originates from Niti Pass. After 70 km, Alaknanda reaches Nand Prayag and
39 here it merges with Nandakini coming from Nanda Ghunti glacier and 21 km further from here, Alaknanda merges with Pandar river coming from Pindari glacier at Karna Prayag, after 32 km, Alaknanda merges with Mandakini river which originates from Chuda Bari glacier near Kedarnath and 65 km further from here, Alaknanda merges with Dev Prayag. It is formed by Bhagirathi river coming from Gangotri and after this confluence we call this combined stream Ganga. Ganga reaches Rishikesh from Dev Prayag and from Rishikesh to Haridwar, flowing through Rajaji National Park and Tiger Reserve, this river
26 enters Uttar Pradesh from Bijnor after Haridwar. After entering Uttar Pradesh from Bijnor, Ramganga falls into Ganga in Hardoi and Yamuna in Prayag, after which Ganga meets Markandeya near Kaithi, after Gomti, Ganga enters Bihar and receives water from Son River coming from Khagragorh in Rewal Ganj and a little further from here, Ganga receives water from Gandak River. Next, Ganga meets Kosi River, also known as Sorrow of Bihar, at Kursela, after which this river flows on the border of Bihar-Jharkhand and enters West Bengal.
13 Mahananda River, which is also called Phulhar, falls into Ganga here. Further, it enters West Bengal. From here in Fara, water is diverted to Pugli River through a canal and Pugli is the natural distributor of Ganga Ji which separates from Ganga Ji at Giriya. After entering Bangladesh, Ganga Ji is called Padma and here Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers fall into Padma and create the world's largest delta Sundarbans. At the same time, Ajay and Damodar rivers fall into Hooghly River. So friends, let's talk about the major tributaries of Ganga Ji, out of which the most important is Yamuna River, the longest tributary of Ganga Ji and also the second largest, which starts
01 from Yamunotri Glacier located near Bandar Poonch Ridge in Uttarakhand. From here, this river reaches Kalsi in Dehradun where its largest tributary Tonus joins it and till Kalsi, Tonus River creates the border of Himachal and Uttarakhand. After this, this river creates the border of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and defines the border of UP, Haryana and Himachal and after this, Yamuna defines the border of Haryana and UP till Delhi. It defines the Yamuna and enters Delhi from Wazirabad, which is also called Sahibi River. It is polluted. After crossing Delhi, this river again flows on the border of Haryana and UP and after the Palwal district of Haryana, it completely enters UP.
49 Passing through towns like Mathura, Agra, Bateshwar, the river reaches Chhapra where the Yamuna and Chambal meet, after which Yamuna meets Ganga in Prayag. Chambal, Sindh, Betwa and some other major tributaries of Yamuna originate from the northern slopes of Vindhyas. With 1376 km, Yamuna is the longest tributary of Ganga in India. So let's talk about Yamuna's longest tributary Chambal. The 1024 km long Chambal River starts near Mah Town in Madhya Pradesh. This river originates from the northern slopes of Vindhyas and moves in the north direction and enters Rajasthan from Chittorgarh.
34 This river in Rajasthan It moves in the north easterly direction and defines the border of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and after that it defines the border of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and falls into the Yamuna River near Jalao in UP. Cities like Kota and Rawat Hata are located on this river. Friends, Shipra, Parvati and Kali Sindh are the major tributaries of Chambal which come from the northern slopes of Vindhyas. Also, Banas River coming from the Aravallis of Rajasthan is another major tributary of Chambal. Also, Gandhi Sagar, Indira Sagar and Jawahar Sagar Dams are major dams on this river and the critically endangered hadiyal is also found in this river. The next major tributary of Yamuna is Betwa. The origin of the 590 km long
22 Betwa River is located in Raisen in Madhya Pradesh in the northern slopes of Vindhyas and moving in the north direction, it reaches Sanchi via Vindhyas and Mata Tila Dam is located on this river on the UP-MP border. Passing through the semi-arid Bundelkhand plateau, it reaches the banks of the Yamuna in UP. This river falls into Yamuna near Hamirpur. So friends, Yamuna's next major tributary is Ken. The 427 km long Ken river starts from the Kaimur range of Vindhyas. After this, this river reaches Panna Tiger Reserve and after that, this river enters Uttar Pradesh from Banda and falls into Yamuna near Chilla. So, after Yamuna river and its tributaries,
08 let's come back to Ganga river and there is another major south bank tributary of Ganga ji, Son. Son river is the second largest south bank tributary of Ganga ji, whose origin is located in Amar Kantak located in Satpura Hills of Chhattisgarh and is located very close to the origin of Narmada river. The river enters Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh from Pendra in Chhattisgarh, from where the river takes a sharp east turn and it is here that Bansagar dam has also been built on this river, after which this river enters Uttar Pradesh from Son Badra district and it is here that the Son river merges with Rihan river. Friends, here I would like to tell you that Govind Ballabh Pant's name was laid on Rihan river. Sagar Dam is located. Flowing parallel to the Kaimur Hills, this river reaches the tri-point of UP, Bihar and Jharkhand,
57 and after that it flows on the Bihar-Jharkhand border, from where the North Koel River falls into it. In Bihar, this river divides Bhojpuri and Maghi speaking areas, and falls into the Ganges near Patna. Friends, the total length of the Son River is 784 km, so let's come to the next river, and this river is Damodar, which is a tributary of Hooghly, a distributor of the Ganges. This 592 km long river originates from Chulha Pani Lateh in Jharkhand, and in West Bengal, this river falls into Hooghly. Barakar, Konar, and Jamunia are the major tributaries of Damodar. Damodar was once called the Sorrow of Bengal due to its flung,
42 but today, under the Damodar Valley Corporation, Panchet Dam, Mython Dam, Tilaiya Dam, and Kunar Dam have been constructed on this river, and because of these dams, instead of being called the Sorrow of Bengal, this river is known as the Ganges River today. It is a boon for the region. Also, you get to see Bukaro, Burnpur and Durgau Steel Plants in this river valley. Next friends, let's talk about Gangaji's North Bank Tributaries Ghagra, which is known by different names. The 1080 km long Ghagra River starts from the Map Chha Ngo Glacier located near Mansarovar Lake in Tibet, where this river is called Map Chha Sampo. After entering Nepal, this river is called Karnali River and in Nepal, this
28 river gets divided into two branches, namely Gerua and Koriala. And after the confluence of these two branches, this river is called Ghagra in India. Also, after the confluence of Ghagra and Sharda River, this river is called Sarai in the Awadh region, which also originates from Shri Ram City Ayodhya. And the 782 km long Rapti River is another major tributary of it near Chhapra in Bihar and this river is the largest and second longest tributary of Ganga. Khagra Gorh is also a tributary of Ghagra.
13 Sharda is a major tributary, which you also know as Kali or Mahakali and friends, there is a dispute between India and Nepal about the origin of Sharda river. According to India, Sharda river starts from Lipulekh pass, whereas according to Nepal, Sharda river starts from the western point of Kala pani region. This river is called Kali or Mahakali river and this river defines the border between the Indian state of Uttarakhand and Nepal. This river enters the plains near Tanakpur town, this is where Sharda The reservoir is located on this river and in the plains this river is called Sharda. This river enters India from the Peeli Bhit district and passes through the Peeli Bhit Tiger Reserve and falls into the Ghagra River in Bahraich. Next
58 comes the Gandak River. So friends, let's talk about the Gandak River, which is also known as Gandaki in Nepal. Gandhak, which is also called the Narayani River, originates from the Nu Bhai Himalayas of the Mustang region on the border of Nepal and Tibet. In these high Himalayas, this river is called Kali Gandhak and in this region this river creates the deep Kali Gandaki Gorge and according to some sources, it is also the deepest gorge of the world. On one side of this gorge, Dhaulagiri Peak is located and on the other side, after crossing the Annapurna Forest and Malayas, this river enters India from Maharajganj in UP, where it is called Gandhak or Narayani. From UP, this river enters Champaran in Bihar and ends at Hajipur near Patna.
44 Gandhak meets Ganga ji. Apart from this, it is a major river of Valmiki Tiger Reserve and this river also creates a mega fan on the India Nepal border. So friends, next we come to Koshi river, a major tributary of Ganga ji which is also known as Sauro of Bihar. Koshi river is also called Sapta Koshi because this river is formed by the confluence of seven major tributaries and some of these tributaries are formed by the snow melt of the world's highest peaks such as Everest and Kanchenjunga. Out of these seven, three major tributaries are Arun River, Tamur River and Sun Koshi River. Sun Koshi River starts from the Sang Jangbo glacier located in Tibet, after which four major tributaries join Sun Koshi,
31 namely Doodh Koshi, Tama Koshi, Boote Koshi and Indravati. The confluence of these three rivers takes place at Triveni Ghat in Nepal, after which it is called Sapta Koshi or simply Koshi. This river enters India from Dubi Hai in Bihar. And it falls into Gangaji near Bhagalpur. Friends, this river descends from the high Himalayas through the Chatt Gorge into the plains and due to this sudden elevation drop and high sediment load, this river is so unstable and keeps changing its course, due to which we get to see floods every year in North Bihar and that is why it is also called the Sorrow of Bihar. So friends, next we come to the Mahananda River, a lesser known tributary of Gangaji, Mahananda River, starts
20 from Pagla Jhoda Falls located in the northern part of West Bengal, which is a part of the Darjeeling district. This river passes through Siliguri town and passes through the Chicken's Neck of India, which is also called the Siliguri Corridor and strategically this region connects India to the North East. After this, for a short distance, this river defines the border of India and Bangladesh and again enters West Bengal completely. From West Bengal, the river enters Kishanganj in Bihar where it merges with the Machhi River. Mechi River comes from Nepal and defines the eastern boundary of India Nepal and after Kishanganj this combined stream is called Full Har River. Again this river enters West Bengal from Malda and from West Bengal to Bangladesh where
06 it finally merges with Ganga ji. So friends these are all the major tributaries of Ganga ji. Let's move on to the next Brahmaputra River System. Brahmaputra River is known by more than five different names. This 2900 km long river originates from Chhe Ma Yung Do Angsi Glacier located to the east of Mansarovar Lake in the Kailash Mountain Ranges of Tibet and this river is called Yarlang Sampo in Tibet and after taking a sharp turn from the Nam Chha Barwa Peak of the Himalayas, this river enters Arunachal Pradesh from Galing and in the mountainier terrain of Arunachal this river is called Siang or Diha and from Pasi Ghat this river enters the plains where Lohit and Dibang rivers join
52 it, after which In Assam it is known as Brahmaputra. After Dibgarh, the Hing river coming from Arunachal Nagaland falls into it and further ahead Brahmaputra merges with Suban Siri and Suban Siri river is the largest tributary of Brahmaputra in India and here at the confluence of Subansiri and Brahmaputra, the world's largest river island Majauli has been created and Dhansari coming from the south also merges with Brahmaputra near this area. Further Kam Bekhi Manas and Popli coming from Himalayas fall into Brahmaputra. After Dhubi of Assam, Brahmaputra enters Bangladesh and after merging with Teesta river coming from Jenu glacier of Sikkim,
40 it is known as Jamuna, yes Jamuna and further after the confluence of Jamuna and Padma, this river becomes the second largest river of the world and falls into the Bay of Bengal through Sundarban delta. In Bangladesh, the river gets divided into two branches and one branch merges with Ganga i.e. Padma. And the second is Meghna, so friends, let's talk about Meghna River. Friends, before moving ahead, let me tell you that if you are thinking of giving a serious attempt to UPSC, then like before, you do not need to spend lakhs of rupees because today with the help of technology, you can get the highest quality guidance in Study IQ's Pete I Foundation batches. 30:11 RT Life code will get you the maximum possible discount on these batches and if you have any doubt related to this batch, then you can contact Liai Khulan village located on the border of Manipur from where this river originates and here this river is called Barak. Near the Manipur Mizoram border, this river takes a sharp turn and flows westward and reaches Bangladesh via Silchar in Assam. Friends, in Bangladesh, this river gets divided into two branches, the Nadan branch is called Surma and the Sadan branch is called Kushiyara. Again Surma and Kushiyara meet and after this confluence it is called Meghna which
01 falls into a branch of Brahmaputra Padma and creates the Ganga Brahmaputra Delta. Friends, apart from this, this river is navigable in India and hence in 2016, this river has also been declared a National Waterway between Lakhipur and Bhang. So let's go. Next, let's talk about the Teesta River, which is a constant dispute region between India and Bangladesh. See, the Teesta River starts from Khang Glacier and Zemu Glacier located in North Sikkim and is formed from the melt water of these glaciers. So, Lahmo Lake is located at an altitude of 6210 meters. After this lake, this river crosses the High Himalayas and reaches Rangpo, where the Rangpo River joins the Teesta and this combined stream creates the border between Teesta and West Bengal.
46 This river enters the plains from Sivok in West Bengal and the famous Coronation Bridge and Sivo Rail Bridge are located here, which connects the North East to the rest of India. Next year, the river enters Bangladesh after Lapaiguri and falls into the Brahmaputra. Friends, till 1787, this river was a tributary of the Ganges, but after the floods of 1787, this river changed its course and it became a tributary of the Brahmaputra. So friends, this is what happens. All the major rivers of the Himalayan drainage system Next, let's move on to the Peninsular Drainage. Friends, do you know that there is a river in India that is not able to complete its journey to the sea, whose name is Luni. The 490.5 km long Luni River originates from the Aravalli Hills near Ajmer.
33 Here this river is called Sagarmati and ahead of Govindgarh, it merges with the Saraswati River coming from the Pushkar Lake, after which this river is called Luni or Lavnavati. Friends, this is one of the main rivers located in the west of Aravalli and this river is used for extensive irrigation. This river carries fresh water till Balo located in Barmer, but saline water gets mixed in this river from Balra, that is, this river becomes saline, that is, it becomes salty and that is why it is called Lavnavati or Luni. From Barmer, this river enters Patan in Gujarat and this river evaporates in the Run of Kutch and then it becomes the Luni River. The drainage system is closed, that is, we also call it Effi Mer Drainage. Friends, due to flowing in shallow bed,
19 Luni river is also famous for flash floods. In 2006 and 2010, this region has also experienced flash floods. Next, let us talk about the four major rivers of West India which fall into the Arabian Sea. The first river is the 371 km long Sabarmati River. Sabarmati, which originates from Debar Lake in the Aravalli Hills of Udaipur District in Rajasthan, passes through both Gujarat's capital Gandhinagar and financial capital Ahmedabad and reaches the Wolf of Khant in the Arabian Sea and along with it Dharoi Dam is a major dam on this river. The next river is Mahi, 583 km long, this is the second important river of Gujarat. It originates from Manda Village in Dhar District in the northern slopes of Vindhyas in Madhya Pradesh
08 and after entering Rajasthan, finally enters Gujarat and falls into the Arabian Sea near Vadodara. This river is a tropical river. It also cuts the Omkareshwar of Cancer twice and Bansawala Dam in Rajasthan is a major dam on this river. So friends, let's come to the Narmada River whose total length is 13,112 km. This river is the longest west flowing river in complete India whose origin is located in Amarkantak of Satpura in Madhya Pradesh. The Narmada River is the largest west flowing river and the largest river of Madhya Pradesh which starts from the Amarkantak plateau of Satpura in an uncoupler form after which this river creates Kapildhara waterfalls. Flowing in the rift valley between Vindhyas and Satpura, this
54 river creates Dhuadhar waterfall near Jabalpur, after which flowing in the western direction, this river reaches Omkareshwar which is one of the 12 major Jyotirlingas and near it Indirasagar Dam has been built on the Narmada. About 180 km after Omkareshwar, the Narmada flows on the border of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and enters Gujarat and enters Shool Pane Shawar Wild This is the major river of Lake Century where Sardar Sarovar Dam was created on this river and the world's tallest statue of Bhai Patel, Statue of Unity, has been built, after which this river flows through an ery near Boj into the Gulf of Khant and petroleum rich island Alia
40 Bed is also located in this estuary. Next friends, we come to Tapi River which is also called Tati and the total length of this river is 724 km. This river is located to the south of Narmada and originates from Multai located in Satpura Mountains of Madhya Pradesh, after which this river creates Ras Dhu waterfall. While flowing through Madhya Pradesh, the river now creates the border of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and enters Maharashtra. After flowing in Maharashtra, this river enters Gujarat and a dam has been built on this river in Gujarat itself and after this dam, this river falls into the Arabian Sea through Surat. The famous Dumas Beach is located on the banks of this river and this estuary You also get to see the Hazira Man Grooves here. So friends, next let's talk about
26 Goa where two important rivers are located, Mando and Zuari. Both these rivers originate from the Western Ghats. After this, we come a little further south and talk about Kerala where there are 44 major rivers, but out of these 44, three rivers are called the lifeline of Kerala. The first is the 209 km long Bharatpurja River, which starts from the Anamalai Hills of the Western Ghats, from where this river falls into Lake Dive via the Pala Ghat Palakkad Gap of the Western Ghats. The second is the 244 km long Periya River, known as the heart and soul of Kerala, which starts from Ukkam Patti Mala of the Western Ghats, which is located in the Periyar Tiger Reserve. From here, this river flows through the plains of Kerala. The
