02 All right, everyone. Thanks for joining me here at Shop Time with Jean and I pulled out this beast today. I uh I bought this tank sometime ago and um I enjoy putting things together and painting them and modifying them and uh more than I like running them. I've never run this outdoors. I've never even really ran it. I don't even know how to. Ah, so maybe we're going to learn that today. We're going to see if the batteries are good. Uh but I thought I'd pull it out and give it a shot. So, this is a beast. This is a pretty big tank. I'll give you an idea of size here. I mean, this is it's got some heft to it, too. It probably weighs I'm going to say that's got to be close to 8 lb. And uh
48 so, I did weathering on this. I removed some parts and melted and bent some parts, made some holes. Um these steel tracks and steel driving wheels and uh idler wheels um were all silver when you got them. Just looked horrible, like a pot metal silver. So, I actually painted them to match and then I weathered them. Now, you can't even tell they were painted to match, but and I did little things like added some rope and made little barbed wire, added this kind of camouflage. Um Oh, yeah, check this out. I did this. I made this little bucket. Let's see. I got to see if I get you guys in here. I don't know if how focused that is. Let me see. Where are we?
35 Little bucket and uh painted that up, made it look this is a bucket and put a little rag on it, too. It's actually glued on. And this was made from a thimble. This was actually made out of a thimble and filled the holes and uh made the little um soldered on the little copper handle. So, I like to do stuff like that More than run them. That hangs off the back. I added the upgraded screens on top of this, which to me was absolutely a must. I don't know if you can see the screens. Some screen here, here, here. The same on the other side. And of course, like I said, I painted this and weathered it. Kind of There goes my bucket.
20 I kind of again removed pieces. Hardest thing to do is when you get this out of the box, it looks all pretty, nice, and brand new is to make it look ugly and start destroying it. But, to me it makes it look a lot better. Put my bucket Actually, I'll leave that bucket off for now. So, yeah. This is a uh King Tiger World War II, obviously. And uh it's a beast. And uh yeah, the road wheels, the idlers, drive wheels. Painted all them. It's pretty neat. These tracks are are pot metal. I'm going to call them They They call them steel, but I don't know about that. The cupola does open up. You can have a driver in there sticking out.
08 But, the turret goes up and down. Machine gun works. Let's see if we can get it to go. I think I got to remember where the switches are. Is there a switch there? Is that a switch? It did something. Let's see. Switch out here. Oh, I don't remember how to do this. Um How do I start it? Is there a start button here somewhere? I'll see. No.
00 >> Yeah, all right. Probably can't hear this that well with my furnace running. It's cold here in New York today. Let's see how All right, so that's the turret. Left and right. >> [groaning] >> Oop, that's the drive. I don't want to do that yet. I turn it up and down. All right. And then there's a smoke system on here. I hear the motor going for the smoke system. Should be coming out the back. And there it comes, starting now.
55 That's pretty neat, right? All right, now that I know this is working, I'm going to take it outside. Drive it outside in the rain. See if we can't make it smoke more when the electronics get wet. All right, let me I got to figure out to turn it off. And oh, wait, here. Check this out. There's a light in the front. And there's a machine gun, too. I don't remember. It's one of these buttons. There it is. That's pretty fun. Sounds are great.
42 Oh, wait. That's right, you can shoot the cannon. Hold on. I'm like a kid in a candy store here. How do I do that? I think I held it. There it is. See the recoil? All right, I'm going to take it outside. See in the next video, people. Keep them running. Rum rum.
