I Tested the First Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Phone in India!

This is the new Realme 15 Pro and this is the first smartphone in India to be parted with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. It also packs in a ton of cool AI features. This is actually the successor to the 14 Pro Plus, but the naming scheme apart, this has a pretty striking design. I like how it reacts to lighter angles. It's also got this pulse light, which is super

But the big deal here is the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, which is a 4 nanometer processor, 27% faster CPU compared to last gen, 30% better GPU performance with the Adreno 722GPU, and there's the Spectra ISP and the Hexopon NPU, which brings some features that we haven't seen before in 7 series chipsets. Paired with 7 Gen 4 is up to 12 GB LPDDR4X RAM, up to 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage. Yeah, no UFS 4 here, but you do get a large 7,000 mm square vapor chamber. Now, when you look at benchmarks, the 7 Gen 4 does bring a solid improvement over 7 Gen 3 and 3D Mark isn't supported on the phone yet, but these benchmarks give you a pretty good idea. Sure, there are more performanceoriented phones in the same price range that score higher, but 7 Gen 3 was a very solid, reliable chipset, and the 7 Gen 4 also kind of shows the

1:33 same. I mean, there's no throttling issues. I also haven't noticed any heating issues when running benchmarks. And gaming is great, too. We did the FPS test here. We played BGM at 90 fps and the game play smooth and nice and we got an average FPS of 82 and stability at 98% is great. Even something as intensive as Genchin Impact runs pretty well on the phone. At the highest settings, the average FPS is around 52.5 and even while gaming for a long time, the phone does not heat up. That's a big deal if you ask me. And not just gaming performance, day-to-day performance is really good. Everything is smooth. Animations look great. And this has an AI multitasker feature that takes around a week to learn your usage patterns. Identifies your top key most used apps and then keeps them in the background for quick launch. This also has the GT boost performance mode. So you get the gaming features we generally see in

2:18 Realme GT phones. For example, AI gaming coach brings you gaming tips for noobs like you, not me. Bypass charging is very useful. We all know that. There's also geek part tuning that lets you customize the clock speeds of the CPU and GPU. Yeah, this is pretty feature packed. But yeah, solid performance part. This is one good-looking phone. We have what Realme calls the flowing silver variant. And this is a very marble-l like finish, which is glossy but not a fingerprint magnet, so nice. And it's got a chromatic coating that shines when light reflects at different angles. The camera design is also changed from the 14 Pro Plus. It's a rectangular eyelid now, which is transparent and blends with the back design. And now you get dual flashlight. Yeah, no triple flash setup from the last gen. And there's a new pulse light around the ultra wideangle camera, which is like a more advanced version of the

I mean, this glows when you get a call or a notification, when you have an alarm ringing, when you play music on Spotify or YouTube Music, when you're say charging the phone, and it pulses orange when GT mode is turned on. Awesome. Now, one excellent use case of this is the camera countdown. Perfect when taking a group photo. It also glows when you wake up Gemini. And I like how customizable this is. You can customize the light style, the color of the light, the speed. And you can even set custom colors for individual apps. Now coming back to the design, it's got a USB 2.0 port, an indisplay fingerprint scanner, an eye blaster in the fake camera housing slightly above this lens. I also like that it whole design is IP66, IP68, and IP69 rated. And honestly, I love the fact that this is so sleek and nice. I mean, 7.79 mm thick, weighs only 187 g

3:51 while packing in a massive 7,000 mAh battery. Yeah, this is the slimmest phone in the market with a 7,000 mAh battery. And no, this isn't silicon carbon. So, the battery life is amazing and you get an 80 watt super charger in the box. And talking about in the box, you also get this case that looks pretty nice. There's a pre-applied screen protector, too. And talking about the screen, just like the back, the screen too is quad curved. I know not everyone is a fan of quadcurved displays, but the curves here are not very big. And this display is great. 6.8 8 in AMOLED, 1.5K, 144 Hz, 6,500 is peak, 1,800 nits in high brightness mode, very narrow bezels all around, HDR support in Netflix, YouTube, and yeah, it just looks great. It's smooth. It's bright. It's got Gorilla Glass 7i. So, no complaints overall. Even the stereo speakers here

4:37 are loud and nice. Now, one area where this could have been better is the haptics. I mean, it's not bad bad. It's pretty decent, but it's no haptics. Now, cameras have been a big highlight of these phones, and this brings an upgrade. See this keep the 50 map Sony IMX 896 primary camera from the 14 Pro Plus and it brings an upgraded 50 MP ultra wideangle lens. Yeah, no telephoto lens, but it also brings an upgraded 50 map front camera with two axis EIS. Anyway, photos from the Realme 15 Pro are super appealing most of the time. This takes photos that just pop and just kind of look nice without sort of going overboard. The photos also sharp, detailed, and dynamic range is solid. I mean, the upgraded Spectra ISP in the 7 Gen 4, which is, by the way, a 12 bit triple ISP, comes into play here because this brings AI powered autofocus, auto white balance, auto exposure for faster

5:22 focus, better colors, and overall good dynamic range, and all of that kind of shows in the photos. Now, when it comes to portrait mode, the skin tones have this warm look, which some might find appealing. The ultra wideangle camera also does a good job at retating colors and details. And as for the front 50 map camera, like the portrait mode, it does tend to capture warmer shots for a more appealing tone and also does increase the saturation a bit at times. But that is something again a lot of people like social media ready. Now as for videos thanks to the real-time video super resolution in the Spectra ISP. This has 4K 60fps support in all cameras although you can only switch between cameras while recording in 4K 30fps. Anyway, videos on the phone look good but I did notice some focus hunting issues here and there. Hopefully Realme can fix this with an update. The front camera videos also look good. This has dual axis hardware EIS so pretty stable too. Now apart from the camera features, the 7

6:08 Gen 4 processor here also powers a lot of the interesting AI features. [Music] So, there's AI edit Genie, which is like an assistant that helps you edit pictures. So, you don't know where to find the magic eraser. Just type in that you want to remove the person from the background, and it'll do it for you. You can even use voice controls to edit a photo, which is pretty crazy. There's also 2K live photo, which allows you to capture a live photo in 2K resolution and share them on Instagram stories. Pretty handy. AI magic is also really good. Basically, the dual flash here uses AI and works as a nice soft light rather than a harsh flash. we've grown accustomed to. I also like that you can control the warmth and the brightness of the dual flashlight to take nice well-lit shots. And it's actually pretty good. There's AI party mode supposed to capture natural skin tones and better details in low light scenarios. It even

6:53 adds a hard or a starburst light effect if that's something you like. And there's actually a lot more AI features here. Apart from that, this is running Realme UI 6 based on Android 15. And this is set to receive two major OS updates and 3 years of security updates, which isn't the best if you ask me, considering Android 16 is already out. Anyway, Realme UI here is smooth and nice with all the features, all the useful AI features we know. And if you're wondering about pre-installed apps, you get these apps, you also get the app market. There's also hot apps, hot games, and there's also the glass lock screen. So, not the cleanest experience. And in terms of connectivity, this has dual SIM slots, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, but no NFC. Look, all said and done, there's actually a lot to like in the new Realme 15 Pro. And yeah, I know it's not a perfect phone, but I really like the solid performance that the 7 Gen 4 chipset brings here. And for people who

7:40 want a balanced phone with consistent performance, this is a very good chipset, especially considering how it also powers a lot of the camera features and EI features.
