The #1 UPLOAD Technique to Get 10X MORE VIEWS in 2025

Brief Summary

This video outlines common mistakes small YouTubers make when uploading videos and provides actionable strategies to avoid sabotaging their views. It covers optimising video file names for search, selecting the right category, leveraging end screens with playlists, and strategically managing video visibility settings.

  • Upload videos via desktop version of YouTube Studio on your phone
  • Optimise video file names with relevant keywords
  • Select appropriate video category by analysing competitors
  • Use end screens with playlists to increase watch time
  • Set video visibility to unlisted/private before publishing

Uploading Videos Correctly From Your Phone

Many YouTubers upload videos directly from their phone using the YouTube Studio app, but this is not optimal. Instead, access the desktop version of YouTube Studio through Safari or Google Chrome on your phone. This allows you to rename your video file before uploading. To do this, save the video to your files, then rename it to closely match your video title, incorporating high-ranking keywords. This helps YouTube understand the video's content and improves its visibility.

Importance of Video File Names

The file name of your video is crucial because YouTube displays it in the video details. Using high-ranking keywords or matching the file name to your title enhances searchability. If you're unsure about the title, use high-volume keywords relevant to your niche. Tools like Vid IQ can help identify these keywords. Vid IQ's Keyword Inspector allows you to research keywords and see their search volume and score.

Selecting the Right Video Category

Choosing the correct category for your video is often overlooked but significantly impacts views. While "People & Blogs" is a safe bet, "Entertainment" can also be effective. The best approach is to identify successful channels in your niche and copy their category. Use a YouTube metadata viewer to find this information. Copy the link of a successful video, paste it into a YouTube metadata viewer (like MW Metadata), and find the category listed in the metadata.

Utilising End Screens with Playlists

End screens are a powerful tool to increase watch time. Instead of just adding a single video, add a playlist as an end screen element. This keeps viewers engaged with your content, as the suggested videos on the right-hand side will be from your playlist. With autoplay enabled, viewers are more likely to watch multiple videos, significantly increasing your views.

Managing Video Visibility Settings

Avoid immediately publishing videos. Instead, set the visibility to "Unlisted" or "Private" for a few hours. This allows YouTube time to process the video and analyse its content for proper audience targeting. This is especially important for high-quality videos (4K), as processing can take time. While scheduling videos can be convenient, it may lead to lower performance compared to manually publishing.

0:00 The biggest mistake small YouTubers make actually happens when they upload a video. I'm going to expose what this is so you don't make this mistake and sabotage your views. But why listen to me? Well, the analytics you see on screen are from my serum channel where I've made over $2 million. Here's one of my shorts channels with half a billion views and 500,000 subscribers. And of course, this channel, Belmont, which I recently blew up from zero subscribers. Now, the big mistake I'm talking about actually has a lot to do with this right here. A lot of you are uploading YouTube videos from a phone, and you should not do that. But I'm going to tell you why, and how you can get away with it and upload from a phone so you're not hurting yourself. This is the YouTube Studio app for the phone. A lot of you are going to use it to upload your videos. But this is the way you should

0:45 never do it on your phone because when you upload a video through the app, it goes straight into your camera roll where you can select a video. That's not what you want to do. And I'm going to tell you why. What you need to do instead is go to Safari or Google Chrome. Any of those is fine. And type in YouTube Studio. From there, you can actually click on this and it will take you to the YouTube Studio desktop version, but on your phone. This is where you want to be, not on the app. Now, follow along with me here. You want to zoom in to where it says create. It's just like on the computer, and you can upload videos from here. Go ahead and click on that. Then, select your files. It's going to ask you to do photo library, take photo or video, or choose files. Now, typically you would do photo library, but the trick is you want to actually go to choose files. Here is where you should put your YouTube video

1:31 before you upload it on your phone. Now, if your video isn't already in here, what you want to do is go to the video in your camera roll and go ahead and go to the share button. Scroll down until you see save to files. Now, you're going to want to go ahead and save this to your files right here. That way, you can access it when you upload it to YouTube. Now, back in your files, you're going to see the video there. Go ahead and click and hold on it and then go to rename. This is very important and why we're not directly uploading it from our camera roll. You want to name it as close as possible to the title of the video that you're uploading. So, if this video is how to golf, I should just name the file how to golf. That way, it's telling YouTube exactly what the video is rather than it just being named video 324 that

2:16 your iPhone or Android will name it. Now, why is the file name of your video so important? Well, in order to know this, go to YouTube Studio. I'm on the desktop again, but it could still be done on mobile. Then, if you see right here in your video details, it specifically says file name. And as you see here, the title of my video is if your videos get under 1,000 views, do this. What did I name the file? If your videos get less than 1,000 views, do this. So, it's pretty onetoone with the title. If YouTube is literally showing your file name, that is proof that it matters. So, it's very important to have high ranking keywords in there. At the very least, have it match your title because this is going to get you more views on YouTube. Now, if you don't know the title of your video yet, what you want to do is put in high volume keywords for that niche. In order to do this, I have a secret section in my YouTube studio right here. It's called

3:02 Keyword Inspector. If I click on it, I can search up keyword like how to grow on YouTube. Then I can search and see how many people are searching for it and it gives you a score. This is through a software called Vid IQ. I have a link for it in the description, vidiq.com/bellmont, where you can get a discount if you choose to upgrade. This is a must have tool. Again, link in the description. Now, the next big mistake that small YouTubers make when they upload a video is actually straight down here. You do have to scroll down a bit because it's kind of hidden, but it's such an important thing that you don't want to overlook it. Right here, it's called category. Now, when you've uploaded a YouTube video, you've probably wondered which category should I put it in? Now, even if you know your video is about music or it's about gaming, you question, should I even put it in that category? Because are some better than the others? And the truth is, yes. Some categories are better than

3:47 the others. The best one to have overall is people in blogs. And the reason for this is because YouTube originally puts this for every single video. So, there's really no way you can go wrong with it. However, the other ones that are really good are entertainment. I had a ton of success with this one. With this channel where I made millions of dollars, it's an entertainment channel. This category is proven to work. On this Belmont channel, I have people on blogs, so that's proven to work. But the real secret here is to figure out what the other channels in your niche that are doing really well have their videos under and then just copy their category. But the problem is, how do you see which category their videos are in? And to do this, you can steal my secret trick. Let's just take this video for an example. I want to know which category she has it under. So, what you want to do is copy the link to the video. Then,

4:34 open up a new tab. Then, type in YouTube metadata viewer. From here, there's a lot of different options, but the best one to use is the top MW metadata. Go ahead and click on that. Then, paste the URL to the YouTube video you had in mind. Again, this should be a very successful video from a creator in your niche. And then scroll down. And then here you can see the tags for all of it. But what we're really looking for is the category. And this video actually has entertainment, which is surprising cuz I thought it was going to be people in blogs. So, right here, it goes to show that even entertainment categories can work for how to grow on YouTube videos. Now, mistake number three is a big one where you're missing out on a ton of views. Go to your video details. This can be done while you're uploading a video as well. Then go to your end screen. Now, right here, I have my most

5:19 recent upload, but another thing that you can do is go ahead and add a new element. And this should be your only element. And put a playlist. Now, mine is how to grow on YouTube, I should make it as big as possible and put it on one side. And then instead of just having one video here, now it's a whole playlist. So, if people click on this, they're going to get trapped in my playlist, which means on the right hand side where the suggested bar is, typically would be other people's videos, but now it's going to be all of my videos. So, instead of just leading them to one other video, now there's a potential for them to watch two, three, or four, literally quadrupling my views. Now, what makes this so powerful is the sneaky little autoplay feature on YouTube. So all the viewers, if you look closely right here, as you can see, it says autoplay is off. Now, if your viewers have autoplay on, that means as soon as they finish the video right to the end, and they have this, it will

6:06 automatically autoplay another video from you if they're in your playlist. Meaning, if they don't do anything, they'll automatically just give you another view. Literally doubling your money, doubling your views. It's super overpowered. Now, the fourth and final tip that most people mess up, now the fourth and final tip that most small YouTubers mess up is the visibility. Now, obviously, I have this one on public because I've already posted it. Now, a lot of people instantly post the video right as they're uploading it, which you should not do. Always choose unlisted and private. If you look right here under video quality, you can see SD and HD, which basically mean the video is in that quality. But if this was blue and it was flashing, that means the video would still be processing and it would only be in SD quality, which you don't want to post a video when it's still in bad quality. Have you ever noticed that when somebody just uploads it and then you get there early and then

6:51 it's in bad quality? You need to give it time. So, always make it unlisted or private before making it public. And then, additionally, the reason why you want to do this for at least a couple hours is because YouTube needs time to analyze your video to see what it's about. It has a transcript and it determines, okay, this video should be promoted to this audience based on what he's saying in the video. If your videos are 4K, as we see here, it still says it's loading. It actually is a glitch with YouTube where 4K is never complete even though you can watch it in 4K. Fun fact, should I do an instant premiere? And honestly, I would say not. There's really no point in doing it. It doesn't have any effect at getting you more views. Now, let's talk about schedule because a lot of people want to do this feature, but it's dangerous. And I'll tell you why. It's convenient, right? Let me just schedule the video so I don't have to manually make it public. Well, the problem with that is a lot of

7:38 people have been seeing lower performing videos when they schedule a video versus manually making public. Now, YouTube has never come out and said this is a real thing. Maybe it's placebo, but I also have experienced that. So, what I do is I never schedule my videos unless I absolutely need to.
