Intro

The Journey to Bethlehem
Around the time Mary was about to give birth, the Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus ordered a census, requiring everyone to register and pay taxes. Joseph and Mary traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem, Joseph's ancestral home, a journey of about 65 miles that took many days.
The Birth in a Stable
Upon arriving in Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph found all the inns were full. Unable to find suitable lodging, they ended up in a humble stable. Mary was tired, but trusted God would provide. That night, Jesus was born in the stable. They laid baby Jesus in a manger filled with fresh hay.
The Shepherds and the Angels
Near Bethlehem, some shepherds were watching over their sheep when an angel appeared to them. The angel announced the birth of a savior and told them where to find him. The shepherds, excited by the news, went to the stable and found Jesus, just as the angel had said. After seeing Jesus, they spread the news, and everyone who heard it was amazed.
