Road Trip to Yosemite

Karolina Protsenko starts a vlog about her family's road trip to Yosemite National Park. She expresses her excitement about visiting one of the best national parks in the USA. The family is traveling together, and Karolina shares that they spent the previous night in a cabin and have another 40 minutes to drive to reach their destination. She mentions her anticipation, having seen pictures and heard stories about Yosemite's beauty.

Backpack Essentials and Bear Safety

Karolina shows the contents of her backpack, which includes snacks like hummus, carrots, celery, protein bars, seaweed, and fruit. She also has a water bottle and a facial mist to stay refreshed in the heat. Additionally, she brought a thin book to read during breaks, lip gloss, and headphones. She humorously discusses the possibility of attracting bears with her lipstick and shares a statistic about the number of bears hit by cars in Yosemite in 2024, emphasizing the importance of bear safety.

Arrival at Yosemite and a Missed Turn

The family arrives at Yosemite National Park, and Karolina expresses her awe at the beauty of the surroundings. She notes the various trails and hikes available. Due to her dad missing a turn, they are on a one-way road and can't easily go back, leading them to explore a different part of the park. Karolina admires the scenery and shares a light moment about the size of a pine cone they found.

Challenging Hike and Wildlife Encounters

Karolina expresses her exhaustion from the uphill hike, which is made more difficult by the heat and rocky terrain. She jokes about wanting to cool off in an ice pool. The family encounters a lizard and a squirrel along the way. Despite the challenges, they continue hiking and eventually reach a point where they are almost eye level with a waterfall, enjoying the view.

The Uphill Struggle

Karolina describes the hike as unexpectedly difficult and not kid-friendly, with constant uphill inclines and rocky paths. She commends her family for their strength and perseverance, despite their complaints about being tired. She mentions that they have been hiking for over an hour and still have two and a half hours to go to reach the top.

Bear Warning and Lunch Break

While hiking, they encounter two people who warn them about a black bear that had been following them while they were eating salmon sandwiches. This leads to a discussion about attracting bears with food. The family decides to take a lunch break, and Karolina's younger brother Nicholas is praised for completing the hike on his own. They find a spot to rest and eat their snacks, including hummus, celery, carrots, and nuts.

Rest and Relaxation

During their break, Nicholas enjoys a ride on a wooden stick, and Karolina reads a book titled "84 Charing Cross Road." She expresses her appreciation for the beautiful scenery and meadows in Yosemite. The family continues to enjoy their time together, despite their exhaustion.

Final Thoughts and Farewell

Karolina reflects on their tiring but beautiful day in Yosemite. She acknowledges that it felt more like work than a vacation due to the strenuous hike. Back in the hotel room, she thanks her viewers for watching and promises more videos from Yosemite. She explains that her speech is slightly affected by the retainers she is wearing.

0:00 Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. Today is very special because I am taking you somewhere very, very beautiful. I'm in the car with my whole family right now. Nicholas, say hi. Hi, Mom. Hi, Daddy. Hey. Hey, everyone. Our whole family is on a road trip and we are going to the most incredible nature ever. I'm so excited. It's like 6 hours from my house. So, we drove in yesterday and I spent the night at a little cabin. And now it's 40 more minutes to get to the actual place. I heard so much about it. It counts as one of the best national

0:46 parks in the USA. and Yeuseite is in California and that's where I'm going today and I can't wait to share it with you guys. Um, I've never been here before, but I'm super excited. I've seen lots of pictures. I've heard so much about it and yeah, I'm going to take you guys along and show you all the beauty and everything. My brother's there already taking out the maps looking for the animals and the roots we're going to see and encounter hopefully. Hopefully, we'll see a bear, you know. Um, from a far distance, I suppose. From a far distance. Yes. Speaking of bears, actually in 2024, 21 bears were hit by cars. And that is so sad because bears are so nice and so pretty and

1:32 fluffy and cute. And yeah, they might be dangerous and everything, but like I feel like they sometimes maybe run out onto the road while the cars are driving and they get hit. All these bears were hit in Euseite and so sad. Hopefully, we'll encounter some wildlife and some animals. I'm super excited. And yeah, I got a whole backpack of goods. I have some snacks as well. We kind of brought lunch. We have hummus and carrots and celery and protein bars and seaweed and some fruit and bread. And it's going to be like kind of our like snacky lunch. Um, got my water bottle filled with water cuz you got to stay hydrated. Oh, I also guys got this Evian

2:17 spray. It's like a facial mist and it's pretty hot now and it's beginning of June, so it's pretty hot in Euseite right now and in whole California basically cuz summer vibes. So, this spray is like perfect. It's like refreshing and I'm just going to put it on my face and refresh anybody else who needs the refresher. Um, I also brought like a little book. See, guys, look how thin it is. It's like super thin, but it's lightweight. And that's what I wanted cuz I didn't want to carry like a big thick book. Maybe we'll like stop at a pretty place and I can just sit and read for a couple minutes. So, got that. I'm basically guys showing you like the whole haul of my backpack right now. Got some lip gloss. But who needs lip gloss

3:04 in like nature and wildlife? I don't know. I need Yes, I do. And you know the bears like like to smell your lipstick. Oh yes, I bet. So I got some lipstick sometimes because maybe you you uh we'll attract them. Yeah, you attract some bear. Oh my gosh. Um maybe. But you know, we can just like look at them then. Wait, can some bears can climb trees, right? Yes. I think grizzly bears, right? or black bears. I think black bear is good. I think black bears. I know one type of bear climbs. Black bears are less aggressive than grizzly bears. That's

3:50 what I learned kindergarten. I remember. But yeah, I got some old school headphones. Maybe going to listen to some music. But there's like literally no service here. So yeah, we've been just like talking and having quality family time. And you know if you guys want to bond with your family then just go to a place where there's no service where uh you can't plug into the internet where you can't do anything on your screen or phone and um there's no electronics and there's just nature and your family and just spend time with your family like that. It's like a great way to bond and have quality time with your loved ones. And yeah, I'm super excited. You can already see how pretty it is. all the greenery, all the trees,

4:37 and it's gonna just keep getting better. So, I'm so excited. Wow. So beautiful. Oh my gosh, this is incredible. Our crew. Yay. Yay. Woo! Finally, after being 10 years in the States, we're conquering the Yusede National Park, guys. It's so beautiful. There's like beauty everywhere you look. And yeah, there's so many different trails, different hikes, different places. We didn't even get to the place that we were going to go to originally because

5:23 my dad missed the turn. And this road is only one way. It's two lanes. So, we can't like turn back. Like the only way we could was like drive through the forest, but like we would wreck our car. You know, sometimes mistakes are good. Yes, they are. Do you know sometimes how in the movies they like take a jeep, they're like and the rangers, they like go through the forest and like drive and jump logs and stuff and rocks. It's so cool. Anyways, I know that's the movies, but yeah. Look at that. How pretty. Look at that. This is so cool. The biggest pine cone that I ever seen.

6:08 The the refresh spray is kicking in. Dad, do you want some? No, I'm good. Why? It's a I don't want to to to take pleasure right now. We have to work hard. What? Pleasure later. Little Nicholas got snack. But you know guys, I think bear can come and try the snack also. That's why I don't Who's going to be the snack for the I don't think it's good idea to eat something here in wild nature. Kolina, are you hungry? No, I'm tired. I just want to lay down. But I think No, no, I just want to jump into a cold pool with a bunch of ice. You know how they do those challenges like ice pools?

6:55 Yes, that's what I want to do. And I just want to coat myself in really cold water and lemonade and cucumber slices and lemons. And then I just want to sit and do nothing and for people to you know how the servants they take the big palm leaves and they do that so it's like shady and wind. Yeah. I don't want to do I want to sleep. Oh my gosh. I want to lay in the freezer. In the freezer? Yeah. I don't want to sleep in an igloo. We just need some sleep. In the eyes. Yes. So tiring. The reason why we're so tired is cuz it's so hot and it's harder to walk and be in hotness. It's good. It's not so hot, guys.

7:40 It's uphill and there's so many rocks and everything. I love here. It's a lot of shadows here and there's no like I cannot feel the shade. It feels like in sun. The air is so fresh. I love it. Feels a little humid. Guys, look at this lizard. It's sunbathing. It has like a blue belly. It's different than the lizards we have back in South Carolina head of us. Wow. So strong. So energetic. Hi. Look, it's a squirrel. It's right on the rock. It's eating something. Daddy, do you want some?

8:26 What is this? This is water. Water? Uh-huh. Yeah, I'm good. Please, I want you to try it. It's so good. I already did it like twice. Oh, it's so refreshing. It's just water. And we were just down there in that valley and now we're up here. Wow. Literally almost eye level with the waterfall. Yeah, it's amazing view.

9:16 We did. [Applause] Please take a look at these people. These are champions because I thought we were going for a kid-friendly hike and this is this is absolutely not kid-friendly. All hike we're going uphill like it's all inclined all the time. Only rocks only. We're always conquering and I feel like I'm so tired and Nicholas keep telling me mommy I'm tired. I'm like yeah baby me too. Right now I see you're complaining but the guys are so strong and probably this is not not adult friendly. Yeah. And you know and you know guys this guy all the time the kids stop this guy complains. Why are you stopping? We could have been up up there already. Because I'm ready. Keep going. Keep going. It's conquer.

10:03 It's literally like 2 and 1/2 hours to get up. Like Yeah. We've been walking for hour plus and uh it's 2 hours. 22 hours and a half. It's worth it. It's worth it from here up. The most beautiful cinematic uh view. Okay, we're we're just I feel like we're dead already. No, let's go to find friendly hike for you. No hike is to go down and get eat your snack. I ready to eat my snack. So, we were walking on the trail and then we met two people and some living thing just climbed on and they h said, "Watch out for the bear."

10:50 And we're like, "What bear?" And they said, "We were eating our salmon sandwiches." And we were walking and they were they were biking. They were No, no, no. The bikes were down. Oh, okay. They were walking. Yeah. They were walking from the hike and they were eating their salmon sandwiches and a black bear was following them. Wow. Amazing. That's why if you want to see the bear, you have to bring salmon sandwich and eat here. Yeah. You have to eat it here. You have to bring a salmon sandwich or something salmon. And they just loves Yeah, you're eating. Oh, this is love. This is strong bond between siblings. Yes, we are.

11:36 Okay. where we're happy to know that we're going down. Was it worth it? No. So beautiful, guys. We didn't see anything. Yeah. We saw like a few fragments, but it wasn't like, oh, we got a picture. Literally, we were just driving and we saw like, let's go have some lunch. Let's get the lunch. Correction. Okay. Nick is our hero. He's carrying Nicholas. Nicholas did such a good job. He did all the hike, all the trail on his own, guys. Look how pretty. I cannot anymore. I need someone to

12:22 carry me. Yeah. Can you carry me? What? I'm so tired. Take back ride. Yes. Yeah. Good job, babies. Yeah. Go. Go. I'm so hot. Do you like here? This is so much better this hike. But I'm already dead. We're already I'm dying. Oh my gosh. We're here. We're going to rest now. Wow. The ravens are so big. They're huge. The question is why they are so big. Maybe it's a specific because they live so long here.

13:10 Do we have some lunch? This is Yeah, this is wild. Yeah, wild celery. Oh my gosh. Original humus, two piece of bread, carrots, nuts. What is your choice? Oh, and we have some snacks. Sea salt. This is my choice. I don't have a choice. My choice is to sleep. Okay. Byebye. [Music] Nicholas, what are you going to do?

13:57 I am going to try. Good job. Oh, good job guys. Karolina is reading. What are you reading? 84 Chair Crossroad. Helen Half, author of Q's Legacy, the beloved classic, a 20-year correspondence between an American writer and a British book seller. Is this interesting? I just started. I'm on Okay, page six, so keep going. They're all following the mother. Seven. Seven kids. So cute. Honestly, it's so adorable. A

14:49 such a beautiful place. I absolutely love it. It's gorgeous. I just want to run through the fields, you know, in the meadows. There's so many pretty meadows here, guys. So iconic and so pretty. It's hard to ride on these uh wooden sticks. Yes. Tell Nicholas, how are you doing? Are you enjoying the ride, Nicholas? Yes. Let's go. Wow. It's beautiful.

15:35 [Music] How do you enjoy our so tired time? But it's so beautiful. It was unbelievably pretty and beautiful and picturesque and wonderful. But we are dead. This does not seem like vacation. This seems like work. We work so hard. I love it. work like this. My legs, my feet. I'm back in the hotel room and I really hope you enjoyed this video. Please like, share, and subscribe to my channel. And there will be many more videos coming up for you guys. Also, some from Euseite. Um, and just stay tuned and I love you all so much and I'll see you in my next videos. And the reason why I'm talking so weird is because I have retainers in my mouth

16:22 right now. Um, anyways, um, just thought I would mention it. But I love you guys so much and I'll see you in my next videos. Bye.
