07 As videos go, this is the big one. Heart attacks are the number one cause of death in the world, especially this time of year. When people hear heart attacks, they think it's from cholesterol clogging up the arteries, and they think that's some kind of rubbery fat. Artery plaque is not cholesterol, and it's not rubbery fat. It's an inflammatory scar made of damaged LDL, immune cells, and hardened calcium that is like a waxy concrete. It's not rubbery fat. Cholesterol isn't bad. We need it. In fact, we'd be dead without it. People have high cholesterol and clean arteries, and many people with low cholesterol have heart attacks. People researchers in Japan divided people into three groups: low, normal, and high cholesterol. And they found that the
52 people with the highest cholesterol live the longest. People think HDL is good and LDL is bad. Well, that's not true. We need both. All right. So, what is cholesterol and what does LDL and HDL even mean or what's it stand for? Well, cholesterol is something our body needs. And our body makes cholesterol no matter what we eat. In fact, cholesterol goes up when we fast, when we don't eat anything. It is absolutely essential for life because it plays critical roles in helping the body function properly like producing hormones. It makes bile salts which are needed to digest fats and absorb fats soluble vitamins like AD and K. And it's needed for your brain to function right among a million other things. Your your sex hormones, everything. It needs cholesterol.
38 Well, it's made by the liver and it's mainly carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. People think HDL and LDL are cholesterol. They are not. They are lipoproteins that carry cholesterol. HDL stands for high density lipoprotein and LDL stands for low density lipoprotein. And it's light because it's light and fluffy. LDL delivers cholesterol to body parts that require it. NHDL carries excess cholesterol back away for disposal to the liver. So LDL is like the delivery truck and HDL is like the garbage truck, the cleanup crew. You need both. You know, if you don't have enough HDL, you'll have more damaged cholesterol, which is unhealthy. And if you don't have enough LDL, you'll die due to the lack of cholesterol where
24 it's needed. Without both, you'd be dead. So, as of now, they've discovered like 10 different types of HDL and 13 different types of LDL. And again, LDL is not bad. It it actually helps protect your arteries. It's harmless and it's needed to deliver cholesterol to where it's needed. So why are so many people constantly saying it's bad? Well, a healthy clean body has healthy cholesterol, but that cholesterol, especially the LDL, can become damaged, just like some people turn bad and start hurting other people in the world and cause all kinds of damage. Just like free radicals, you some of that LDL can become oxidized and eats away at the inner lining of your arteries called the endothelium uh which causes inflammation. The immune system then
09 sends out monocytes and cytocons resulting in a yellow fatty streak inside the artery and the body then tries to contain this fatty streak by building a wall of calcium to hold it in kind of like a cast on your arm. Well, that calcium makes the artery hard and rigid. But arteries are not supposed to be stiff because the inside of the artery walls are smooth muscles that expand when the heart beats. And the more plaque that forms, the stiffer your arteries become and the less they can pump blood. Plus, the more plaque that builds up inside there, the less space obviously there is for blood to flow. Sometimes a piece of that hard plaque breaks off, gets sucked up and gets jammed in a tight spot, cutting off the blood supply, resulting in a stroke. Okay, so LDL is not bad. Damaged,
56 oxidized LDL is bad. So what damages LDL? Remember cholesterol is made in the liver. LDL takes it and delivers it throughout the body and HDL then takes the leftovers back to the liver for recycling. Okay? So the center of everything is the liver, right? So your life depends on a healthy, properly functioning liver. And what damages the liver? Well, we all know that alcohol does, right? And you know, this is where people who don't drink think they're off the hook. Well, actually, no. I just made a video about this recently, and a lot of people didn't watch it, and this is why many people uh need to hear this. So, I'll say this again because you need to really get this in your head. The total amount of glucose circulating in
44 the body of a healthy adult at any given time should be no more than 4 g. That's one teaspoon of sugar. That's it. Anything above that leads to high blood sugar, which eventually is insulin resistance, metabolic disorder, and eventually kidney damage, heart attack, and death. So, yes, all that bread and pizza and pasta and crackers and ice cream and sodas and fruit juice and honey and pastries and cereal and granola bars and desserts and all those sweet high carb snacks between meals and yes, even mangoes and orange juice. All of that turns into sugar. Lots and lots of sugar. And sugar feeds yeast. Candida takes that bread and orange juice and fermentss it into ethanol inside the gut, otherwise known as alcohol. That's right. So, even if you don't drink
30 alcohol, you're making alcohol in your body with all those carbs. That ethanol is absorbed into the bloodstream just like alcohol from wine or beer. And even if the amount is small, chronic exposure, as in eating carbs every day, it goes into the portal vein straight to the liver. The liver has to process and detoxify this alcohol producing acetal alahhide, a toxic intermediate that promotes oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation, and inflammation. And what does chronic inflammation lead to? Big drum roll. You're right. Bad LDL. So if you eat lots of sweet stuff, not just carbs that turn into sugar like bagels, crackers, bread, cookies, and ice cream, but also fruit juice and too many mangoes because fruit has lots of fructose and fructose is metabolized almost entirely by the
15 liver. Fruit can turn into alcohol quite fast and easily. You know, whole fruit is good. There's nothing wrong with whole fruit in the right amounts, but fruit juice concentrates way too much sugar. And remember, you're supposed to only have four grams of total sugar in your body at any given time. So, this may blow some people's minds, but two of the biggest foods that cause arterial plaque are cereal and orange juice. America's breakfast. What kills more people than anything else is not drinking or smoking or drugs or car accidents or wars or even vaccines. What kills more people than anything else are the seemingly benign things that we do every day that seem harmless. Fatty liver disease is step one to heart
02 attack. Actually, uh step one is insulin resistance. Fatty liver disease is step two. But okay, as the liver becomes fatty, it stops functioning as a metabolic traffic cop. Instead, it tries it starts dumping excess fats and inflammatory particles into the bloodstream. So triglycerides go up, small dense LDL cholesterol, HDL goes up, insulin and blood sugar go up because of insulin resistance, inflammatory cytoines like TNFA, IL6 and CRP go up, free radicals and oxidized lipids go up. You everything goes up and all of this circulates through your body and all of those molecules like free radicals are toxic to the arteries. They infiltrate the arterial walls. the body sees them as invaders and tries to patch
49 them up with immune cells and cholesterol. That's how plaque begins. And the more oxidized LDL and inflammation, the faster the plaque forms, the less efficient the liver is at cleaning cholesterol and triglycerides, and the more of this debris accumulates. Over years, plaques become fibrootic and calcified, narrowing the arteries. That's atheroscerosis. Fatty liver disease is a major cardiovascular risk factor. 40 years of cupcakes and bread and pasta and ice cream just don't make you fat. It ruins your hormones, your energy, your mood, your teeth, your hair, your skin, your liver, your kidneys, your arteries, your heart, and your life. People with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease have a two to three times higher risk of heart attacks even if they're thin and they
35 don't drink alcohol. A lot of thin people are actually metabolically unhealthy and have hidden fatty liver. And you can find this out on an ultrasound or an MRI. The more bread and sugar and sweet stuff you eat, the more insulin resistant you become, the more fat storage, the more liver fat, more inflammation becomes more arterial damage. And that's why people have heart attacks during the holidays and the winter holidays more than any other time of year because of all the cakes and the cookies and the stuffing and the desserts and the comfort food and the alcohol and of course sitting around all day and doing nothing. not not moving their bodies. Um, can the damage be reversed? Well, yeah, but you can't undo 40 to 50 years of bad habits overnight. It takes time and it's serious commitment. Food is the worst addiction of all. It starts in childhood. Liver
22 disease and artery plaque are already happening in children. It's amazing. Most people nowadays in their 50s and 60s are still even alive. So, don't wait one more day. You know, start now before it's too late. Change your habits and what you eat. You don't have to sacrifice taste. We have hundreds of healthy recipes on this channel in the cookbook. Take the heart formula. Go outside. Walk 10,000 steps a day. Get sunlight. Get exercise. What a concept. Stop the refined carbs. More prebiotic fiber. Do green juice, not fruit juice. Minimize sweet stuff. Period. Your very future depends on what you decide to do today. Statins are, you know, that stuff the doctor gives you when you have heart issues. Statins are not the answer. They
09 all they do is lower cholesterol. When the brain doesn't have enough cholesterol, you get dementia. You, you know, when you eat or drink something sweet, how your lips become sticky and and and stick together? Well, that's happening inside your artery. Sticky blood equals plaque. Sugar is sticky. Fat isn't. They talk about oils and fats hardening. Well, very few fats and oils harden at 98.6°. your body temperature. Um, okay. So, what are some signs of heart issues and what can you do about it? Well, we all know that, you know, chest pain and pain or discomfort that spreads to the shoulders and the arms and the back and the neck and the jaw, the teeth, uh, breathing in a cold sweat, feeling tired without doing anything, heartburn,
55 indigestion, dizziness, and stuff like that. But did you know that sweaty pits, ongoing slight nausea, odd non-food related burping throughout the day, occasional random dry cough, shortness of breath, especially at night when you're lying in your back, fluid in your lungs for extended period of time could also be signs. You know, if someone has a heart attack, learn how to pump someone's chest until the paramedics arrive. Play the BG song, staying alive in your head. Staying alive. Staying alive. That's how you should be pumping. That is the exact beat that the rhythm that you should be pumping the person's chest to. But let's hope it never gets to that level. Okay. So, uh, what can we do? Well, the first step is to stop doing
42 what's causing the problem. You've heard me say this a million times, right? The five biggest causes of heart attacks are smoking, alcohol, sugar, carbs, a high glycemic diet, stress, lack of exercise, lack of omega-3, vegetable oils, trans fats, and hydrogenated oils and fats because those are like one molecule removed from plastic. Even not getting enough sunlight is a factor. But the most common factor in the modern world is sugar. Sugar is the worst because it's very sticky, which can gum up everything and damage your artery walls. When you eat carbs and sugar all day long, insulin constantly goes up trying to lower the sugar in the bloodstream. And normally insulin takes sugar out of the blood and deposits it
28 into the muscle tissue. And when you exercise and move your muscles, the muscles will use up that sugar. That's why people who are promoting a high sugar diet are are usually fine because they're exercising. They're riding their bikes. They're they're doing a lot of physical stuff, but most people don't. They sit around all day. So, you know, but if you sit around all day, the sugar remains there and the blood and the muscles no longer hold any more sugar. So, they resist the insulin's efforts to deposit the sugar into them. And this is called insulin resistance. Now, blood sugar goes up because the sugar has nowhere to go. And high blood sugar causes inflammation in the lining of the arteries, which is why so many diabetics end up with heart disease. So people promoting sugar to people who just sit around all day is you're promoting a heart attack diet. You know, a slowing
14 down of metabolism is the first warning sign over year years before the scary stuff shows up. When your metabolism starts slowing down, take that as the first warning sign. High insulin prevents fat burning. Now neither fat nor carbs can be burned. This increases a hunger because we can't burn either fuel. So more pe people eat more leading to more body fat. You know, it's just this horrible thing. It just leads to more fat storage, more insulin resistance, and a messed up appetite, regulating hormones, and the cycle continues into a metabolic meltdown. Okay, so step one is to stop the bad stuff. Step two is only eat good stuff. Exercise. Walk 10,000 steps a day. Get sunlight. Don't eat late. Go to bed early. And when I say exercise, I mean
01 more than yoga. I mean resistance training. Yes, women, too. You need to really, really push those muscles. Step three is to clean the liver. Watch my video on how to clean your liver. I'll put a link down below. Drugs are not the answer. Stop doing the bad stuff is the answer. Statin drugs, they don't actually unclog your arteries. All they do is lower cholesterol. Stans are not even needed usually because the problem isn't cholesterol, it's inflammation. People can have high cholesterol and clean arteries and many people with low cholesterol can have heart attacks. You know, stances can save lives in an emergency, but they don't do anything longterm because the problem is throughout the whole body. The entire body's got the problem, not just in that one little spot where the stent is. People in their 20s and 30s already have
47 plaque. It's a ticking time bomb. It can start as early as 5 years old. And by the way, glucose monitors are not a good way to test for insulin resistance. You want to get a fasting insulin test. Normal glucose can hide insulin resistance. Fructose, for example, like in fruit, it it doesn't show up on a glucose monitor, so you're not getting the whole amount. Blood sugar can look fine while insulin is chronically high. Only fasting fasting insulin test shows that. And speaking of tests, uh, forget normal cholesterol tests. They're useless because LDL levels are not as important as the kind of LDL. Normal healthy LDL is light and fluffy and the bad damage to LDL is much smaller and denser. That's what an NMR lipoprofile
33 test is for. Um, there there's a CRP test, CC reactive protein. That's a marker for inflammation directly associated with cardiovascular and heart uh, health. Remember, plaque isn't fat. It's calcified inflammation. So, there's the calcium score test, CAC, coronary calcium score. That's basically a CT scan of arteries. It'll tell you if you have any buildup of the plaque in your arteries and how clogged up they are. But even if you get a calcium score of zero, that does not mean you're fine. Calcium comes in the late stage of the game when plaque is already built up for years and decades. You know, calcium shows up at an already advanced stage of plaque. It means damage is already done. Like it it many people had a calcium
18 score of zero, but their soft plaque had built up so much that their arteries were already half clogged at 50%. That's called atherosclerosis for those of you boys and girls who don't know that. Anyway, yeah. So, CAC scores are more meaningful in older people. Calcium is not the cause of heart disease and risk. It's a marker of how advanced the disease is. And statins, by the way, they they can actually increase calcification. Anyway, uh CT angography is a test that shows uh plaque uh that has not yet calcified by injecting a dye and then praying it. It CTA is a much better test than CIC, but it's 10 times more
04 expensive. Then you got radiation exposure and all that. CTAs are usually done with people who have chest pain. Then there's a CMT test uh that checks for plaque in your neck artery. You may have heard of the APOB. APOP doesn't measure plaque. It counts the number of aogenic particles capable of forming plaque. It counts bullets, not wounds. Um let's see. It measures the risk factor. And when people hear, you know, you know, when people hear avoid sugar, they think white table sugar, like that's really the bad thing, right? That's that's what's bad. Only table sugar. Well, table sugar is not the worst. Actually, you know what's worse? This is going to blow your mind. Bread and pasta have a GI way higher than sugar, making them more deadly.
50 Fresh squeezed orange juice has a GI of 50, the same as sugar. But commercial orange juice has a glycemic index between uh between 66 and 76 out of 100. That's a lot. OJ has a glycemic load of 10 to 15. Now, you've heard of stress test, right? A stress test will not predict a heart attack. It tests how well you can climb a mountain, how fast you can run. Tim Russet, the famous runner who had a great stress test, died of a heart attack. A common myth is that vitamin K2 takes calcium out of your arteries and puts it in your bones. It doesn't. And calcium isn't the problem. Inflammation and plaque is. Calcium just keeps everything calm and protected. But K2 can help with insulin resistance and diabetes. And
37 vitamin D obviously also helps with sleep and diabetes and immune health and stuff like that. That's why sunlight is so important. Plus, you can't absorb iron really well unless you get sunlight. So, two of the top things to take every day for your heart are magnesium. First thing paramedics do when someone has a heart attack is they shoot them up with magnesium because almost everyone is low in magnesium. And water. Most people are dehydrated. The reason most people have a heart attack at 4 in the morning is because they're so dehydrated. Their blood is thick and they can't flow. The moment you get up in the morning, drink a big 16 oz glass of water. Not coffee, not juice, water. Okay, so what can you eat? Well, basically anything in nature that isn't very sweet. Salads, protein, cruciferous, garlic is great for
23 thinning your blood and reducing plaque. Sauerkraut, kimchi, and other fermented foods like natto. They lower fasting insulin. It lowers triglycerides up to 40%. But remember, kimchi does not replace exercise. All right? The answer isn't just eating something magical. You're But your gut is what saves you or kills you. That's where it all happens. And the number one food source of healthy probiotics is fiber. So eat lots of high-fiber foods. Gut flora produces, this is interesting, gut flora produces 80% of the body's serotonin, which is needed for blood pressure regulation. You know, people think serotonin just makes you feel good. It helps regulate your blood. Lecithan helps clean the liver. That's really good. That's like
09 detergent for your liver. Uh omega-3 helps inflammation. Berries are great. But the number one best meal to clean out your arteries is not eating a meal at all. It's called fasting. It's And fasting is not just about losing weight. Its main benefit is autophagy, which recycles cells. It's like a reset button that lowers inflammation and raises health. My hard formula has a bunch of powerful elements including serapeptase which is a proteolytic enzyme that breaks down proteins like artery plaque. But cleaning plaque does not happen overnight. There is no magic stuff that just makes you better in one week. You must make lifelong changes and do it for the long haul. You know, you cannot outs supplement diet and lifestyle. You need
54 metabolically active muscle to win this, especially your legs, the big muscles. Muscle pulls sugar out of the bloodstream where it can cause damage to delicate artery walls. And resistance training is important for muscle mass and metabolism. Metabolism is the key. So work out your muscles for that metabolism. There is a reason why you get fatter when you get older. If you're, you know, not burning your carbs, right, you're pumping out more insulin and too much insulin stops fat from burning. Fat causes inflammation and inflammation causes fat. It's just this horrible cycle. You know, plaque is a ticking time bomb. But plaque is a symptom, not the problem. The problem is inflammation.
39 You know what a blood clot is? Well, if you eat bad food, free radicals start attacking and injuring the inside of your arteries, right? The body senses this and this this damage and it sends platelets and plasma to help seal the wound. And if the free radical attacks continue, more and more plaque forms all throughout the body and proteins in your blood called clotting factors signal each other to cause a rapid chain reaction throughout your body. And the body also forms thin strands to reinforce the plaster with a mesh like rebar and fresh cement. And all of this hardens. It hardens the artery which is usually flexible. And this hardening is called atherosclerosis. You can even get a clot in your groin or
26 your legs from sitting too much. This is called deep vein thrombosis. DBT. Three out of a thousand people die from DBT every year in the United States from just simply sitting too much. A pulmonary embolism happens when a blood clot travels to your lungs and blocks an artery. Uh there's so many terms here. uh saying cholesterol is the cause or LDL or APOB, that's like saying ambulances and firemen cause accidents because there's always ambulances and firemen at an accident. But what caused the accident? Cardiovascular inflammation. What causes cardiovascular inflammation? One of the biggest is insulin resistance. What is the biggest cause of insulin resistance? Sugar and carbs. Metabolic disease is the number one cause of cardiovascular inflammation, heart attacks, and
12 strokes. Again, some warning signs are abdominal pain and bloating after eating, lung and breathing problems, you're tired a lot, jaw pain, especially on the left side, tingling legs, gallstones, gallbladder, liver problems, high blood pressure, kidney problems, diabetes, hypoglycemia, you're feeling cold, uh pale skin, sweating, but a different kind of than normal sweating. It's kind of a cold, sticky sweat. And out of the blue, you turn pale and feel cold. It comes and goes. Uh back pain in the scapular area, which is between your shoulder blades, your your lower neck, chest pain, numbness in the hands or the left arm can possibly feel numb or sore when walking. Uh suddenly dizzy or
00 fainting spells out of nowhere or when you're walking or you exert yourself physically. Um, if tightness in the chest is accompanied by nausea and vomiting and shortness of breath happen all at the same time, you got to seek immediate attention. It's time for the ER like right then and there. Um, women are actually more likely to not have as many obvious symptoms. Uh, it's called a silent attack for women. That's they they just drop one day and there's no signs. In the last few years, there's been a 60% increase in hospitalizations of people under 39. Women especially who snack all day long, especially carbs, sugar, and fast food. And people going through a lot of stress and a fast-paced, overly busy, hectic life.
48 You know, you need to set your priorities straight. Are those cakes and pies and beers and pizza and ice cream really worth it? You might want to think twice about all that fruit juice and whatever you're stressing about in life. Is it really worth dying for? You know, maybe simplify your life. You know, get rid of all that crap that's overwhelming you. There's always a way. Do the right thing. There's so much healing power in simply just taking a walk and getting some sunlight, listening to the birds, eating things that grow in nature. and most of all sharing your heart with those you love. I'll see you in the next video.
