00 This is a new restaurant area and this is called Song Song what? Yeah, an Awakenings festival like this is perfect to make promotion for the area, of course, for businesses to show what they are doing. A good evening. I'm here at the Wat Mangkon Station and the reason that I'm here is because I'm on my way to the Song Wat district because at Song Wat now you have the Awakenings festival, which is a light festival. So, let me show you how to get there. And for me, this is one of the nicest festivals in the city.
45 As you can see, they are re- doing the road in here. Which actually makes it less busy. Well, normally this road is packed with cars and it's actually easier to walk here now, but unfortunately, all the restaurants seem to be closed as well. So, it takes away a lot of the atmosphere. But the Awakenings festival takes place every year and last year they had it for the first time in the Song Wat district and I made a very nice video about that. And today I want to show you how it is this year. It's around 6:30 and the sun will set around 7:00, so I'm nicely on time.
30 And to get to Song Wat, you just walk first here to Yaowarat Road and then you cross and you go in that direction over there. You know, Chinatown is always busy anyway, so I'm heading left here in the direction of Song Wat. I made a video not so long ago about the Lost in Song Wat and I'm going to go there tonight as well. And the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to go to the river and see if I can catch the sunset over there. You know, the tuk-tuks always give a cool atmosphere, right? And this actually looks like they're part of a tuk-tuk tour. You know, Songwat changes every time
16 that I come here. The area completely changed. Yeah, when you reach the I wanna Bangkok sign, you know you're at the actual Songwat Road. It's interesting to see how this always changes. It's a lot more commercial, as well, compared to last year. But I know a lot of things have been updated even since the last [music] video I made a couple of months ago. There is a whole new area called Soul Songwat. And that's a kind of restaurant mall that I will show you later in the video. It's really amazing to see how packed this place is in the weekends.
02 And especially, of course, now during >> [music] >> a festival. >> [music] [music]
50 >> So, this is my first round through the area, and a little bit later I will show you everything with all the lights on. So, these are the kind of installations that you can expect. In my last video I mentioned that this is a very popular sunset spot. And we actually might get a nice sunset a little bit later on.
54 This restaurant here on the river is called Destiny Songwat and this is a great place to watch the sunset and you can see the boats coming by and here you can come for a drink and a snack and the prices are very reasonable. Inside there is one of the installations as well, which is called the Sangsom Mooniverse. So, they have a whole pier here now. And I think this is all under construction in front of the Adidas shop.
52 >> As you can see, these are all old Chinese shophouses. >> [music] >> It's really unbelievable. The last time when I was here last year, this was all closed, and they opened it up, made another little shop here in the back. [music] And a little bit later, I will bring you to Lost in Songwat. Let's see if they have >> [music] >> any lightning stations in there.
43 See, like this, they are basically rejuvenating the whole area here. Giving opportunities for restaurants to open up again. It's nice because it gives you the feeling that you're discovering something. I think people should come here.
53 >> Well, if you're planning to visit Songwat, I would recommend come now. It's going to be busy anyway, and at least now you have all the light installations. This looks like a new coffee shop. 1926 Ah, but this is closed. We're having a nice sunset right now. So, the Awakenings takes place until the 12th of July, and it's every day from 6:00 in the evening until 11:00. We're on our way now to the Lost in Songwat.
40 And I actually made a video here a couple of weeks ago, but of course, it's nice to show it in the evening as well, and especially now during the Awakenings. You have so many spots here. They're having a nice little ice. Wow, this is really nice.
54 >> [music] >> Yeah, weakness is just a very nice showcase for businesses and artists to show what's going on here. From Bangkok. >> [music] >> And if you want to see all the installations, you have to >> [music] >> stand in line and this is in the beginning of the evening, so this is only going to get more busy later on. But of course you can wait in line for your coffee.
40 Stop. So in the whole area you have many of these installations. Yeah, what I mentioned, just come here. It starts at 6:00 and closes at 11:00 and will be here until the 12th of July. And this one is next to the Lost in Songkhla. So here we are in front of the mosque.
35 >> This is a new restaurant area and this is called Soul. Soul what? Yeah, an Awakenings festival like this is perfect to make promotion for the area, of course, and for businesses to show what they are doing. So, I was here literally a few months
22 ago and I never saw this area. So, this is a completely new place for me again. This is absolutely amazing. And I have to come back here in the day and see how it looks. So, there's a whole new coffee shops and restaurants in here.
07 >> Hey there, thanks. Love your videos. >> Thank you. >> [laughter] >> Nice. So, there are several information stands throughout the area and here you can get a folder with all the information Awakenings until the 12th of July. >> [music] >> Number five on the lights here at the Mankon
53 hostel. So this is the [music] Pan Rim restaurant and they used to be in the Talat Noi district on the river, but now they have their new place here. >> [music] >> And it's the same style. So this is a This is a new drink or not? >> Yeah, it's a new product. >> Okay. So we're going to try this. So I'm back here on the river.
40 >> [music] >> Well, I hope you enjoyed this update regarding the Awakening Festival here at Songwat. This will be here until the 12th of July. I would recommend to come here in the weekdays. If you enjoyed this update, feel free to subscribe, drop me a line, and see you guys in my next video.
